Notifications in yosemite keep resetting themselves
Having upgraded to Yosemite I changed some of the notifications only to find when I rebooted they changed back to the post upgrade status. So I reset them again when I rebooted they changed back to the post upgrade status and so on and so forth! Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong.

Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
5. Close the Terminal app.
6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.

I've been using Yosemite for a while and I'm pretty happy with it, but recently, the Notification Centre widgets keep changing their order. This is quite annoying when you think you know where to look for something, only to realise your Mac has other ideas.

Audiobooks keep resetting themselves.
Hi.
I'm not sure I've got the model of iPod right (it has a colour screen and is now about 18 months old) but I doubt it'll make much, if any, difference.
Basically, I play a lot of audiobooks on my iPod and I've set it to remember the playback position so that I can stop halfway through and start again another time. However, when I go to restart playing the file, it resets the playback position and I end up going back to the main menu screen. Then I have to fast-forward through the whole file (some of which are over 10 hours long) to find the right place to resume listening. It's happened a couple of times in the past but, in the last few weeks, it's happened every single time I've tried to resume playback.
I rarely connect it to my computer, so there has been no interference there and I have also recently restored it to its factory settings due to a file corruption, so that shouldn't be a problem either.
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, is there anything I can do?

I believe +Remember position+ is a parameter set in iTunes for the audio file. When you do a +Get Info+ on the file in iTunes, this parameter is set in the Options tab. Audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store have +Remember position+ and +Skip when shuffling+ set to YES. However, if the that audio files is from other source, it may not be set that way. -
Mail/Browser applications keep reseting to Default Apps
Gents,
After restarting my computer, the mail/internet browser/pdf viewer applications keep reseting themselves to the default applications:
Entourage goes back to Mail
Firefox goes back to Safari
Acrobat goes back to Preview
Why is this happening? it all started after I installed Acrobat Reader 8.0

For default PDF settings; You can use Preview to view several types of image files, including JPG, GIF, TIF, PSD, PICT, PNG, BMP, and SGI. You can rotate, resize, and crop images, and you can convert them to different file types.
You can also use Preview to view and search Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
Preview is also used to preview documents before you print them. In another application, choose File > Print and click Preview. Preview opens with an image showing what the printed document will look like.
You can choose to open all PDF documents in Preview. In the Finder, select a PDF document, choose File > Get Info, click "Open with," choose Preview from the pop-up menu, and click Change All.

For default browser and e-mail:
Setting your preferred Internet applications
You can choose which application opens when you click an Internet address link in a document (such as an email message), open a Web Internet Location file in the Finder, or click an email address on a webpage.
For example, you can make Safari your default web browser and Mail your default email application.
To set Safari and Mail as your default Internet applications:
Open Safari, then choose Safari > Preferences. Click the General icon, and then choose Safari from the Default Web Browser pop-up menu.
Open Mail, then choose Mail > Preferences. Click the General icon, and then choose Mail from the Default Email Reader.

Choosing an email application other than Mail

Safari and Mail shouldn't be deleted After changing your default application, you should not delete Safari or Mail, even if you do not plan to use them. You will need them if you wish to change your default settings in the future.

Hello,
I have a problem with an iPad 2. After the software upgrade to iOS 5 the APN settings keep resetting all by themselves (I set the APN, I get out of the setting by pressing the back arrow on the top left of the screen, I get back in there and the APN setting is gone). Of course, the internet connection si not working. I've seen other people having the same problem on their iPads after the upgrade.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?I too am experiencing this issue - on an iPad 2 using a UK BT DATA plan SIM. This is not an issue with the SIM, as I have tried it in a different iPad and it works without any problems.
I have also tried all recent iOS updates, hoping it would overcome the issue - but no joy.
Can we have some assistance from the fine people at Apple please???

Hi people. I have an iPad. Since I updated to 4 all my apps keep turning themselves off, all the time, ncluding Safari. I now have 5.1. I have done everything on the forums: reinstalled everything, deleted running apps, turned off running apps, turned off properly... I now give up and want to throw the blasted thing away. Any input? Thanks.
Did this start happening recently? I have seen this too and no idea why it is happening. I find I am typing away and it just closes, I have to open it up again. I found this first with Angry Birds, but have also experienced it with Facebook and Safari. I have iOS 5.01 so not sure if it is related to this or another iPad issue.
I wasn't sure if it was because of the screen or some other touch issue.

Mail on Yosemite keeps crashing
Hi everyone,
My mail app on Yosemite keeps on crashing a short while after starting it up. I've tried numerous things, removing the accounts from preferences solves the issue, but when I add them again the error reoccurs. I've also tried a manual reset by deleting all cache files etc. This doesn't resolve the issue either.

Quit Mail if it's running. Open the Internet Accounts or Mail, Contacts & Calendars pane in System Preferences. Select each of your mail accounts in the list on the left and click the "-" button below to delete it from the list (the messsages themselves won't be deleted.) Launch Mail. If it doesn't crash, click the "+" button and add back the accounts. -
How to disable notifications in Yosemite
Hi!
Is anyone else experiencing problems with notification center in Yosemite? I have disabled both the reminders and the calendar from the notification center (unchecked all boxes and set the notification style to none) but Yosemite keeps enabling them after each time I log out. Is this a bug? Happens on both my iMac and my Macbook after upgrading.

My ipod keeps resetting itself when i plug it in to the computer, now what?
Basically, I plugged my ipod into my laptop as usual and itunes sprang up with an error message that i can't quite remember. I just remember that it mentioned a file corruption and that i should either restore the ipod settings or i should disconnect and reconnect it. I reconnected it and got the same result, then tried again. This time iTunes didn't recognise it all and within a minute of being connected my ipod reset itself. The laptop registers it, but my ipod just keeps resetting itself and i don't know what to do. I've tried resetting it and restoring default settings, so what more can i do or is a repair the only option?
Follow the steps mentioned in this article to disable the camera notification: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1501 , then try again to connect to iTunes.

I have an iPhone 5 with Sprint. I use the Personal Hotspot feature with a 2GB plan, so I want to monitor it carefully. I use the Cellular Usage feature in Settings>General>Usage>Cellular Usage to monitor the amount of "Tether data" that I'm using. Unfortunately, it keeps resetting itself to 0 rather randomly, without my clicking on "Reset Statistics." None of the other data amounts reset themselves, they seem rather accurate. So I have to go to the Sprint website to check my data usage.
I can't seem to see if there's anything I'm doing, like a hard reset, that would cause this. It just seems crazily random.
Any suggestions?Well, iOS 5.1.1 does not have any good features so i was avoiding to upgrade my iOS..

Send & Receive "Update Schedule" Keeps Resetting
I keep having to reset my Frequency settings on the email notification (Peak time start, Peak time end, Peak time frequency, Off-peak time frequency). It seems to reset itself at random every couple of weeks or so. Is there a reason/fix for this?

Yosemite screensaver resets to Nat Geo
Hi,
Since updating to Yosemite, the screensaver keeps resetting the picture choice to the national geographic picture setting, instead of my iphoto library. This is using any of the standard apple picture screensavers. If I change the setting to iphoto it works the next time it runs, but any subsequent time after that it resets to nat geo.
I've verified the disk OK.
The screensaver was working fine in Mavericks, the problem has only occured since upgrading.
Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm fed up of seeing the same pictures of a polar bear and penguins.

I cant coonect it to the computer because the iphone keeps resetting itself and the restore or activation cannot be completed. Do I just need to get a new iphone? I have a 3gs and dont want to get a new iphone. Also the iphones sim card wont work and I have tried to do a hard reset mutiple times.
Sounds like your phone was jailbroken. If it was, you will need to get another phone. That phone is permanently disabled.

MSI 870A Fuzion.... BIOS keeps resetting it self after restart,

I've just brought my first ever parts for my first ever computer build.....fitted everything perfectly and booted....
1st: logo screen came on
then another screen came saying low battery, thunxsomething...IDE, bios clock unset...."hard drive not detected"
3rd: screen came up asking either f1 to go into bios f2 to load defualts
i pressed f2 little dash flashes in the top corner
rstarted with second {the same procedure as explained }try ubuntu live usb loads......
after shutdown and installation of OS
i attempt to troublkeshoot the issue of bios time, IDE, and no hard drive detected
by going into the bios... which was totally from whats expected i.e. in colomns instead rows
i was expecting bios style shown below however after thought i got adjusted to the new rows one

saved AND EXITED

it restarts as expected but it doesn't save it........and it continues saying no hard disk detected low battery even though its connected to psu and say IDE....even though i have sata connectors......
just as an extra, a small splat of water went on the board i simply wiped it away........(happened before first boot) would this by any chance affect the bios

I have an I-Mac. I keep using the get Info to set my preferance for opening photos and other items. I find that the computer keeps resetting them to the default settings. For example I want my .jpeg files to open with Adobe Photoshop but they keep resetting to preview. I want certain items to open in Firefox but it keeps resetting to Safari. What am I doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. It sounds like LaunchServices is confused.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:

Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know
