Notifications of emails in sub-folders

Hi all,
I am using iOS 7.0.2 and having a some problem regarding notifications of emails which are delivered into sub-folders under Inbox.
Whenever emails are pushed into Inbox, there will be notifications appear on Mail icon. The same thing does not happen with rules emails, and unfortunately these emails are usually more important.
You help will be very much appreciated.

Ok. Found the solution to problem #1:  In each account, you can select "folders to push" in exchange...I had "all mail" set to push...it doesn't actually push anyway, and it also causes it to be reported in Notification Center.
Problem two, however, still remains. Thanks.

  • No alerts for push email to sub folders with activesync

    Hello,
I successfully set up my exchange server to push email to my iphone and my inbox and all subfolders show up great! I have rules set up with exchange that automatically put certain emails into sub folders, but I am not getting alerts when these emails arrive. I am getting alerts when anything comes into my inbox, but I have to check each subfolder manually in order for the messages to sync up. Any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks
    -Cody

When you are setting up push, it is really exiting to see that exchange will deliver emails to the iphone. I am an IT consultant and have multiple clients with multiple subfolders and it would be extremely difficult to keep up with all emails if they are only pushed only in my inbox. I have also encountered that if you reply to a message regardless if it is in your inbox or subfolders, the Outlook client will not display the replied arrow when you return to the office. It gets confusing after replying to multiple emails from the iphone and not knowing if you replied to a certain email or not. This is also frustrating because my Windows Mobile phone did this with no problem. Any one know when a fix for these issues will be released?

  • Notification of new email in sub-folders

    Dear all,
I have created several rules for my inbox so that specific emails move into specific folders. The problem that I am having is that when Mail receives a new email fitting the rules, it makes the new message sound and then moves the email into the correct folder but does not tell me which folder the new email has moved into. This means that after hearing that I have a new email I have to click through each of my sub-folders to find the message that has just been moved. Thunderbird does not have this problem with the same email account. Any suggestions? (Other than move back to Thunderbird!)
    Thanks.

Hey guys, thanks for your help. No I have definitely used move and the problem I am having is that when a new message arrives it moves into the sub-folder and no number counter displays next to the sub-folder. The strange(r) thing is that this is quite erratic - sometime I'll get a message, from amazon say, and Mail will move the message to the amazon folder and display a 1 next to the folder indicating there is a new message and other times it will move the message but not put a number up (meaning I have to click every folder to see where the message I got has been put).

  • Mail icon not updating to reflect number of unread email in sub-folders

    Hi all,
I have a problem with the default mail program on the iPhone, OS3.0.
If you have sub-folders on an exchange server and set for them to be pushed under the "Mail folders to push" setting, email appears on the phone and it even give you your chosen email alert sound. However the number of unread emails is not reflected on the icon of the mail program.
Is there a fix for this?
    Cheers

As neuroanatonist wrote, I think this is linked to Apple Mail (whether iPhone or desktop) focusing only on the inbox(es) for tallying up the number of unread mail, and notifying the user accordingly.
There is an open thread dealing with the root cause of the issue brks raised:

  • Email and sub-folders

    Hey!
I have an iPhone 4s and I sync my email from an exchange server. I have mail that is delivered to sub-folders in my inbox but these emails do not appear on my phone but I can browse to the folders and see the emails. Is there for these emails to appear in inbox on the phone.
    Thanks in advance!

The only way to get them to appear in the inbox on your phone is to stop the rule on the server that is delivering them to sub-folders. They only show up in the inbox if they are actually in the inbox.

  • Html is removed for emails in sub folders

I've been trying to find a solution to a problem that I'm having with html emails for a few days and I'm running out of ideas.
I receive a large number of work related html emails on my BlackBerry Q10 device that I send to a sub folder to avoid cluttering up my inbox.  The problem is that when I open the emails all the html has been stripped out.  Styling is gone, spacing is messed up and links and images show up as raw unformatted urls.  It's pretty much unreadable.
The interesting thing is that the same emails display perfectly if I remove the filtering rule and allow them to go directly into my inbox.
I've done some experimenting and it seems as though the problem may be related to the size of the email.  Emails with less markup go through and display fine in the sub folder.  In fact I've gotten to the point where removing or adding a single character can be the difference between the email displaying normally and having all the html removed.  In my case the threshold seems to be rougly 14kb for the unencoded markup size (header size not included).
The BlackBerry Q10 in question is connected to a BES server which pulls down emails from an exchange server via active sync, but I've been able to reproduce the problem by connecting the Q10 directly to the exchange server via active sync.
And just to make things more interesting I"ve also attempted to view the same emails in the sub folder on a BlackBerry Torch (Connected to a BES5 server and then active synced to Exchange) and the emails display normally regardless of the size of the email message.
Could it be that the 'Click here to download the rest of the email' button is not showing up when it's supposed to?  Or is there a setting or option that I can modify to fix the problem?
Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Hi Smatik and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Have you consulted with your colleagues to see if they are experiencing the same issues? I assume that the emails display properly when viewing them from your computer in Microsoft Outlook?
    Thanks.

  • How do I create email inbox sub folders

I use outlook express ( pop3 ) as my default email program and created many inbox subfolders on my desktop. How do I get iPad to see the inbox subfolders.

You can't - not with a POP account and not with any mailboxes stored on your computer's hard drive.
This is possible with an IMAP account with server stored mailboxes. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP will be available automatically when accessing the account with the iPad's mail app along with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
None of this is possible with a POP account.

  • Trying to get my email sub folders to show up on IOS 7.

    Hey all,
Im trying to get my email sub folders from my company email account to show up on my iphone5.
It is an smtp email server that falls under the "other" category when I set it up on the phone.
    Currently running IOS7
all my personal email account sub-folders are showing up, just not this particular account (the one I use the most)
anyone have an idea what I can do here?

Look in the settings app under Safari on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Disappearing Sub Folders in Mail on my MAC

Upgraded to X10 last night.  Today while filing email into sub folders, they disappeared from my view and I have not been able to find them again.  I have read all the postings but they have simply gone from view from any perspective on the computer.  I need these files, I use them to organize and they are critical to me.
How can I get them back in the view pane and ensure they are always available to use???
    Very frustrated here.

You should create your mail folders on the iCloud server (under ICLOUD in Mail), not locally on your Mac (under ON MY MAC) for them to show up on other devices and at iCloud.com.
Anything stored locally on your Mac only exists on that specific Mac so leave all your mail on the server and organise it there.

  • Email Notification for Sub-Folders on a Samsung Note 2 device

My company recently switched to an internal Exchange Server.  I have a Samsung Note 2 phone.  In my Outlook, I have many Sub-folders that I use along with rules so that as email comes in, it is automatically placed in the Sub-folder.  When
this happens, there is no notification on the Note 2 device that an email has come in.  Nor does it download until I manually drill down on the phone to that particular folder.  The long and short of it is I am not getting notified of these emails.
Is there a setting either on the phone or in Exchange that needs to be adjusted?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
According to your description, you need a email notification for sub-folder.
And you can try the following workaround:
Add the condition “display a Desktop Alert” in the Outlook rule which you have apply to the sub-folder.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Send email notification including file name and description, when users upload files to particular sub-folders?

In my site collection i have a document library and document library has customer folder, each Customer folder has 4 sub-folders. i want to send email notification with file name and description to group and users, if they upload any files to Particular
folder name "Final" not others 3 folders. would it possible to accomplish this solution? if yes please suggest which way i can do that.
Note: we have different groups of people, for example Team A and Team B. if files uploaded by any member of Team A, notification should sent to only Team A and specific people not Team B.
Thanks in advanced for any help!

    Hey Rakib,
You can add your group and those other people in To field of send mail activity. Have below snapshot for your reference.
If Current Item URL Contains FolderName (i.e. Final) & Is Current User a member of of Team A
    Send Email to Team A; People1; People2;
Thanks. Please mark as an answer if it helps.

  • IPhone email sub folders do not sync with Push feature

    Greetings all,
I have been working with the iPhone for a while with one of my tasks being to the iPhone Sync Push technology to work well for us.
Unfortunately it only partially works. It will on push to the root of the INBOX and any other sub folders below the INBOX never get pushed to. The only way to get an idea of if there are new email messages in the sub folders is to individually open each on and wait for it to sync. This is not cool at all.
Am I missing something here? I mean if I have rules running on the server to organize my email messages and the mail server and clients know about the new messages, why does the iPhone ignore them.
I have tried the iPhone with Exchange 2003 and with Kerio 6.6 and get no luck with either. I have lots of other phones connected to both and they sync perfectly, so I am lead to believe that the problem is with Apple.
I thought this phone was supposed to be Enterprise ready?
Am I doing something wrong here?
I heard somewhere that Apple only supports push to the INBOX. If that is true, when will Apple fix it so the phone can be used in the Enterprise?
If anyone has any thoughts on this or if this is working to actually push to sub folders inside of the INBOX with notification of new email without having to open the mail app, I would like to know.
    Thanks for listening.
    Rick

    To all,
After reading your posts, i can definitly relate to the frustration of using the iphone in an enterprise environment. i have to agree that the Blackberry functionality compared to the iphones is day and night. meaning, the blackberry has always geared itself towards corporate america. where in the iphone's case, it's a device made to look pretty and have some positive enterprise add-ons. however, it still remains a "consumer" mobile device.
After upgrading the iphone os, i saw that they have addressed the issue with "sub-folder sync". for many of us, that recieve tons of emails a day, its a given that we need to stay organized, otherwise there would be email chaos.
here is the steps to set auto push to your sub-folders...
    1. Settings
    2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3. Click on your corp mail account.
    4. Click "Mail folders to push"
at this point you can choose the folders that are currently setup in exchange.
there is still a minor bug to this fix, even though you will be notify via chime of a new email in your folder, there wont be an indicator on the email icon on the main page indicating a 1 or 2 or 3 emails you might have. Once you are in the email account and see your folder structure, there will be a number indicating new emails.
final thoughts... they are getting there. im really hoping the new 3gs address all the issues relating to enterprise environment.

  • Email download for sub folders needs manual trigger

If there are sub-folders in inbox of any mail account, emails in those folders are not downloaded automatically when they get pushed. It needs trigger like opening the folder and swipe down to check for updates.
Is there any way to make mail app to download those emails automatically as and when they are pushed?

  • Exchange email folders and sub-folders: iPhone only pulling main "inbox"

    Hello.
I've got iPhone set to access my Exchange email via IMAP. My work computer is an Win XP PRo, running Outlook 2007. My Outlook email folders are organized via rules that most important emails are automatically routed to specific folders (such as from a particular client or staff member).
My problem is The iPhone is only checking for mail in my main inbox. The only way I can get it to check for mail in my sub-folders is to click on the folder. This is a big problem, as I am missing notifications, and have over 35 subfolders!
I've tried and tried to find a setting I can change, or something...but cannot. Does anyone have any recommendations either via iPhone settings or my Outlook rules settings?
    Thanks so much in advance!
    Sovi

Thanks for posting that thread. My problem is slightly different in that it won't pull the mail *at all* -- even to the inbox. The mail is only pulled if/when I click on the sub-folder. At that point, the mail goes go to the correct sub-folder.
For obvious reasons this is an issue -- I miss lots of mail!
I (we) can't be the only ones using sub-folders with this issue.

  • HT201320 Does my email service provider have to provide the ability for me to create an IMAP email account in order for me to create Sub-folders within Apple Mail?

Hi, Apple Mail provides a function to create sub-folders within my mailbox so that I can group emails of similar subjects or from the same sender. My service provider only provides POP email protocol and the New Folder button does not appear in my Apple Mail account for that service provider. Icloud provides the opportunity for the iPad user to select between POP and IMAP. I can select IMAP and the New Folder button appears allowing me to create sub-folders within the icloud email account. Does this mean I cannot create sub-folders in my email account unless my service provider provides customers with the option of creating an IMAP email account?
This appears to be a problem for quite a few Apple Mail users, but service providers appear reticent to provide a response other than 'use Microsoft Exchange / Hotmail, Google GMail, or some other third party email service provider'. This is why I have chosen icloud as my email service provider. It is Apple and therefore Apple supports it. I have been a Telstra customer for over 15 years and they informed me today, strongly, that they support their own products and services, not Apple products, even though Telstra sell them. When I asked the Telstra Customer Support Manager whether they support Telstra customers, I was informed 'no, because the Telstra customer is not a Telstra product or service'. I have since cancelled my Telstra email account and am in the process of cancelling all of my Telstra services.

Yes. That is what it means. You need an IMAP account in order to create sub folders on the iPad.
