Nov 6 - Firefox updated when I opened my browser - bookmarks are now bigger, my list of bookmarks is more spread out. Hate it. Help.

I have my bookmarks toolbar open at all times to the left of my browser window. After this morning's updates, the bookmark icons seem bigger, the list is more spread out. Now bookmarks that were visible 'before', I have to scroll to see, because they're more spread out and take up more space.
Do not like. Any way to reset them so they're small again? To 'compact' the list, as it were?

Hmm... thanks for the feedback. It sounds like something is wrong. I don't think there were any changes to the bookmarks sidebar in the v25 update.
Could you open Firefox in Safe Mode to check if the font size is still wrong?

If the problem does not appear in Safe Mode then continue to follow the instructions in the article to identify the setting or Add-on that is causing the issue.
If the problem does appear in Safe Mode then I suggest that you do a Firefox Reset. This will return Firefox to its default settings. Your history and bookmarks will be saved but you will need to reinstall your add-ons.

I just updated to the newest version of firefox for my mac laptop. It keeps crashing when I open the browser and does so even in safe mode. Laptop is about two years old. Might it be an issue with the OS? I have not updated to Leopard yet.

It seems that the problem is related to fonts.
(1) How were you updating your operating system ?
If you use *_Software Update_*, hurry up, download and apply the combo updater available from :

but CAUTION, this update introduce a serious problem with some fonts. At this time the only workaround available is to reinstall 10.6 tyhen apply the combo updater 10.6.6 available from :

(2) if you didn't used *_Software Update_*, run a maintenance tool like the free MAINTENANCE available from :
http://www.titanium.free.fr/index_us.html
Apply it to clear caches files, mainly those dedicated to fonts.
It would be also a good idea to check the health of your fonts with FontBook.

How can I stop firefox from opening multiple tabs when I open the browser.

Did you perform the fixes from the "Preferences not saved" article?
Try to delete or rename/move the prefs.js file and other possible prefs-##.js with a number and user.js files in the Firefox Profile Folder.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

Make sure that Firefox isn't running when you delete files in the profile folder.

The guts of my computer were rearranged and I got a new main hard drive. My old one is still in there and I can get stuff from it, but when I go to the Mozilla folder on the old one, I can't figure out if there's anything I can do to get all my bookmarks from that drive to my new one, where Firefox is newly installed.

If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/places.sqlite places.sqlite] and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.

I recently purchased a second hand new macbook air, although it was second hand to me the previous owner had never actually turned it on.

Solved it by starting Thunderbird in a safe mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode), closed it and started normally...
Thunderbird showed 1 window afterward... I did play around before that with disabling/enabling extensions but at the end the safe mode helped... Hopefully this helps someone :)

Everytime when i open the browser, it pop up a browser game

hi guys i just recently update to win8, and i install firefox on my computer few days ago. but then i found a problem, everytime when i open the browser, it pop up a aircraft shooting game on the website(definitely not the website problem, because i tried to use different website as the home page, the problem still exist) then i install the adblock and all those ad ons to prevent this but still doesnt work. now i am so frustrated, everytime when i open the browser i have to hear the shooting sound. can somebody plz help me to fix/ uninstall this problem, many thanks. Extra pages can be a sign that a bad add-on has crept into your Firefox. For example, an Astromenda infection.

CPU usage goes off the meter everytime I start firefox and when I open add-ons tab to troubleshoot the CPU usage goes and then stays on normal.Why?

The CPU usage is 99% everytime I start firefox. When I open help tabs in the browser to troubleshoot the problem the cpu goes down to normal.How am I supposed to troubleshoot the issue if the last resort is as simple as uninstalling firefox?

Reading your comments I do not see that rolling back to an insecure Firefox 22 will actually help you much. You are probably best using IE, unless you have also damaged that.

Most others will not be having such problems. We are now able to say that with confidence because after developers missed a regression in Firefox 4 telemetry was introduced so that data was obtained. It may be an idea to turn on your telemetry, if you have not already done so, and decide to stick with Firefox.

My Mac has 4 mail accounts coming into it, but you are correct, one of them is a POP account, (and unfortunately it is the main @ account, and is the one associated with my apple id, since we've had it for years). I couldn't figure out how to replace this with the Imap version, short of deleting that account entirely.
Is this what I have to do?
