Novell Client 2 SP3 and the inability to log in the Win7
Novell Client 2 SP 3 for Windows 7 64 bit and the inability to log into the desktop for a "NEW" user
My issue is that If the username exist already in Windows 7, I can log into Novell and the Window 7 desktop will load
HOWEVER if the username doesn't exist and I attempt to log in, I'm able to log into Novell Client
BUT I get prompted with another window titled Log on to this Computer with a check box Change your Windows password to match your Novell Password after success login.
1) I insert the password and
2) check the box
The Result is a line that says The Local computer username or password is not valid
Any suggestions would be most appreciated

Sorry, but that is even less clear. I'll make some assumptions.
* You have a Win7 PC.
* The user already has an account on the PC, but they have never
logged into it.
* When they login for the first time, they get an error that states
the username or password is not avalid.
Sounds like the user is using the wrong username or password.
In your first post you state:
"BUT I get prompted with another window titled log on to this Computer
with a check box Change your Windows password to match your Novell
Password after success login?"
At that point you must enter the password assigned to the account on
the PC. Depending upon how you created the account, it may not be the
same as thier eDirectory password.
If that doesn't help, try explaining again...or maybe someone else
will jump in that understands what you are trying to do.

regarding mountain lion server: clients experience intermittent service connections. the server system log has the following error- Client handshake failed (6):113: Server not accepting client connections. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you
Hi Jason
I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

Well, I created a new Apple ID and I put money on it, I wanted to sign into ICloud and it wouldn't let me sign in due to making too many Apple IDs created. The point for logging into the ICloud was to save my photos before I reset my phone. Is there any way I could fix this? I also want to transfer my money because I think it's a waste to just forget about the $13.75 on my account. Thanks.
I recently created a new apple ID
Bad idea.
Content bought with an Apple ID is forever associated with that Apple ID. Apple will not transfer content from one Apple ID to another and Apple will not merge Apple IDs. Unless you are prepared to forfeit all the previously purchased content and buy it all again with the new Apple ID, you will need to maintain the old ID to update and redownload your content. -
Recently (within the past 2 weeks) I have noticed a few of our servers will have problems with the svchost.exe application causing the GPSVC (Group Policy Client) to crash. The only fix at that point is to reboot the server since the GPSVC service is tied
to svchost.exe and therefore is protected from being manually restarted.
I noticed the following errors when this occurs:

All of our servers are running Server 2008 R2 Enterprise where we use Citrix to deliver desktop sessions to our users, but some are virtual and some are physical. This seemingly impacts our virtual machines more, and our VMs are hosted through VMWare, however,
about 5 months ago a similar error fired on a non-virtual machine:

I've searched and cannot seem to find any information as to what may be causing this, or even really where to start. Would someone be able to help me identify what might be causing this event, specific with the Exception code: 0xc0000024, which causes
the Group Policy Client service to stop?You still out there looking at things? If so I have an update. The issue hasn't stopped, even though it did seemingly die down for awhile, however, it is now back with a vengeance.
I am able to force it to happen by killing the svchost process that is hosting GPSVC. If I run gpupdate /force, then logout/login it does get GPSVC running again. Furthermore, if I simply start svchost again via the Task Manager GPSVC starts running again.
When I access the server remotely with KVM it acts just like it does as if I'm logging into it via Citrix/RDP which for Admin IDs gives an error saying "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service...",
however, normal user accounts just get a message when logging into the server "The Group Policy Client Service Failed the Logon. Access is denied."
I haven't opened a case with Microsoft yet, but we about ready to because of the increase in these errors.
If you have any further suggestions that would be great, otherwise I'll provide an update once I get word back from Microsoft.
**EDIT -- apparently I mistook the the server's SCM's actions as my own. I was able to successfully crash the GPSVC service by killing the hosting svchost process, however, after I crashed it and let it sit crashed for awhile when I attempted
to restart either by starting a svchost task, or running gpupdate /force it failed. Either that, or there is a timing issue where if we don't restart the svchost process, or run gpupdate /force quickly enough it won't be able to recover without a reboot. -
Hello Everyone.
Thank you very much for looking into this,
Let me explain a little bit of the big corporate picture, we have one main upstream server, and 50+ replica server
that monthly receives updates from our upstream server. my boss asked me to deploy to all Windows XP machines the update: KB943729, This is in the "Update" category, I selected it and approved for all the 50+ facilities, (each one has one replica
server on its site). according to the below logs it is supposed that the update was approved and deployed correct?
The issue is that none of all the Windows XP machines at none of the 50+ facilities report or show the update installed or ready to be installed. please look at the log I collected from one of the replica servers on path %ProgramFiles%\Update
Services\LogFiles. this is part of the Change.log:

It looks like it has been properly distributed from the upstream server correct?
but in this replica server on the WSUS Console in Syncronization as you can see I ran two manuall synchronization afterwards, and I still see 0 new updates, revised or expired.
Is this ok? since this is coorporate i can not see the Windows or log into an XP machine in fact, to verify, but might they have received the update? people are reporting they dont see it installed.
Thank you very much, any help is greatly appreciated.I was able to retrieve the WindowsUpdate.log from one of the XP machines that is not receiving any update.

Why do i have two game center accounts on one apple id and how do i log into the other one
One day while i was bored i started up a game but all of my progress items and everything that i paid for was gone and it was the same in all of my other game center related apps. After a long chain of emails with the maker of the game he stopped being helpful but we figured out that i have two game center accounts but only one apple id. So how do i log into the account with all of my data?
Get a separate Apple ID for one of the phones. Or turn OFF iCloud contacts synching on the one you do not want contacts to synch.
Settings>>iCloud -
I changed all my passwords, but I'm just wondering if that's all I have to do.. Is there any extra measures you would take? Could they have installed malware on my phone? I will never connect to a wifi hotspot ever again. I'll just use 3G!
I have this really old email account that I haven't used properly in years, it was automatically set to log in the mail centre of this old iPhone I barely use, and was only using because my other phones battery had died, and I was at the park, bored, so I got the old phone out of my bag, I use it as an emergency phone for when my battery dies, but anyway, I logged into the hot spot, then a few days later my old email account had sent out a mass email saying "I am stranded in Thailand, please send money to this account" to my entire contact list, my sister sent me a text notifying me, and I quickly logged on and it said "looks like someone else is using your account" so I got texted a code, entered the code and regained access to my hotmail account, checked the sent folder and there were tons of sent messages..haven't used this account for many months before that, and I never log into public hotspots usually, it was a one off thing I did from that old phone because I thought I had no email account logged in, or any personal information, since I hadn't used it in ages, but I was wrong, as I learnt afterwards! So I'm absolutely certain, without a doubt, that it occurred at the hot spot. I looked it up online and apparently it is quite common, so I'm just wanting to make sure they can't still access my data.

Canot display the remote system logs in the A51 system in the sm21
Hi firend,
could you plase help to me, i could not able to see the remote system logs in sm21 transaction.How can overcome this problem
Thanks,
Lakshmankumar.Lakshmankumar,
Have you done system copy? or is it a new installation?
We had this problem after we have done system copy on to new system (New Hardware).
You can check the URL provided by Juan Reyes.
I also suggest checking few more things like below.
Are you able to see instances from SM21 u2192 system log u2192 choose u2192 remote system log u2192 instance name u2013 check to see if you are able to see other application servers are not.
If you are not able to see other apps servers try these steps.
Execute the function module TH_SERVER_LIST on all application servers (start SE37, insert TH_SERVER_LIST, press F8, press F8 again). As a result you will get a table "LIST", with a mouse clickthe contents of the table will be displayed. In the column "SERV" normally the sapdp* services should be displayed,these are used to connect to the dispatcher of the instance. Most probably you will not see a sapdp<nn> entry but some strange names,e.g. cpq-tasksmart, intraintra, tick-port.
In this case please check the/etc/services file (if using Unix) of all application servers. All duplicate entries of the interval 3200 to 3299 should be commented out if they are already used for the sapdp<nn> services.
After the restart of the instances the function module should return allsapdp* ports correctly and all remote syslogs should be displayed now.
Thanks,
Venkat. -

IUserListElement userElement = null;
int i = 0;
while (rst.hasNext()) {

String email = iuser.getEmail();

I already have an Apple ID that works, but for some reason my iPod Touch logged me out of the mail app. I want to log back in, but when I try to log in, it says "this account has already been added". The app will only let me sign up for a new ID, but I want to log in to the mail app to an already exsisting ID. Help?
Just what account are you trying to add? The iCloud mail account automaticaly gets added for the account used on the iPod

Create a directory on the server based on the username logged in the client
hello everybody,
All my files which are transferred from client to server are stored in a directory called "workspace".Before the user sends the files, he is authenticated.How can I create a directory on the user name who is logged in on the server???
Say, user1 has logged in and tries to send files to server.Now, I'd like to create a sub-directory user1 under work space so that all the files which he uploads will be stored under his name.When the user1 is logged in the first time, a directory will be created on his name else all files will be stored under his directory.
I'm using JDBC with my-sql.
ANy ideas??
Thanks for your time.Well, it wouldn't matter what DB you are using....
You have the user name, correct?
You have the File object refering to the main directory, correct?
File userDir = new File(mainDir, username);
if(!userDir.exists()) {
if(!userDir.mkdirs()) {
throw new IOException("Can't make directory " + userDir.getAbsolutePath());
// use userDir to write any files... -
Login intermittently slow with ZCM agent AND Novell client
We continue to struggle with intermittently slow logins in our environment. In testing, we noticed that logins are very fast (10-20 seconds) when only the Novell Client is installed, and very fast (~10 seconds) when only the ZCM agent is installed. However, when they are both installed, logins slow down, sometimes to 1.5 minutes or longer.
We have checked DNS and rDNS, and they are both configured properly. SLP is working properly as demonstrated by the fast logins when only the client is installed. We use LDAP for user lookup, and it also works very fast to resolve user names (~ 1 second).
We are using ZCM 10.3.1, and the client is fully patched as well (both Novell Client 2 and 4.91)
Are there any specific settings (for the ZCM agent or the client itself) that might address this issue?My apologies, I told you to remove the wrong thing.
I should have said NMAS instead of CASA.
I am just so used to saying CASA when talking about ZCM.
In regards to NMAS, you could simply rename "NWSSO.DLL" as a test.
If NMAS is installed which is tested by the existence of this DLL, then
a certain NMAS call is always made, which in some cases can take a long
time.

ZENworks Agent + Novell client on domain joined pc
Hi,
We are in progress of migrate a MS domain to E-directory domain.
There are a new bunch of new pc's which will have our base image (with Novell Client SP3 IR9 & ZENworks 11.3.1) installed which are in a workgroup.
There existing pc's will be manually updated with Novell Client en ZENworks client.
My tought's were to unjoin the pc's in the domain and then install Novell Client en ZENworks client.
What are your toughts?
Thanks in advance,
JoeriFirst comment. I have to say that in all my years on here this is the first
time I have seen ANYONE moving back to eDirectory as opposed to being forced
off their beloved eDirectory. Welcome back! LOL.
None of my 8500 systems are in a domain although we do have one for various
services including Exchange. We use IDM to keep users and passwords synced.
Presuming the users account already exists and its not a volatile user you
should be fine. I am presuming in ZCM you are setting up a DLU policy that
will control and manage the local user. As long as the local user exists the
DLU won't try to create a new one and you won't get prompted by ZCM"
box.with a "whats your credentials". Personally we have had no luck pre
installing the agent and then sealing the image. There are a lot of
documented steps you have to go through to clean it up. If you don't you are
going to have all kinds of issues in ZCM. We just found it easier to run it
after the fact. Tech is going to be their anyway setting it up so why not
let them finish it is where we went. So in conclusion install your client,
install the agent. Reboot. Login local first time. your WS won't have the
DLU policy yet and you will need it for the normal login process to work
smoothly. Do a ZAC CC ref if you want the policy quickly. After that user
logs into Novell, credentials pass through, ZCM agent see local user exists
and password is the same and voil*. User has their desktop. good luck.
