Novell client still show red "N", does ZCM Agent work ?

Hi
my customer has some workstation login slow.
User type his username & password and summit it, Novell client show red "N" about 4 ~7 mins...when red "N" disappear, it will login to desktop about 15-20 seconds...
I want to ask...when red "N" icon still show...Whether the Novell client still try to connect to server or not ? and that time, if ZCM Agent (CASA module) still waiting capture username/password or it has capture these infromation to CASA server ??
Because I want to clear if workstation login slow by ZCM agent .

Hi Shaun
Thanks For your great reply.
I find a troubleshooting section in ZCM installation Guide , about "Unable to install NetIdentity from Novell Client 32 on a device that has ZENworks installed", the section was be record from 10.1 to 11.1. The Netidentity has a Install-Check action for checking Whether Local_Machine\Software\zenworks exist or not....but ZCM 10.3 or later use Local_Machine\Software\ZCM, not useing "zenworks", so Netidentity could install evenif ZCM agent installed.
I know ZDM agent has some issue with Netidenty...but I do know why ZCM installation still record it....even ZCM11.1 installation Guide. Could you help me clear whether Netidentity agent will effect ZCM Agent or not ?? Because I could not find any document that could provide any message it will effect "ZCM" function
thanks!!

  • Lync 2013 client still show titles that is turned off on Lync 2010 server

    Hi All
I have another unique issue it seems.
Environment - Lync Server 2010 on CU5. Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 client.
The client has used absconfig and removed the titles as the don't want that to be displayed.
The lync 2010 clients does not show the titles - so that is working.
Lync 2013 from external access the titles does not show - so that is working.
Internally on the LAN the Job Titles shows on the Lync 2013 client - so not working.
What I've tried so far :
Disabled exchange contact sync on a client policy
Used webdownload only for address book.
Using registry to force download of address book.
Deleted the Lync folder on the client computer to make sure when it downloads the .idx and .db file that it is the latest version.
None of the above remediations seems to have any impact on the lync 2013 client.
I have tried to replicate this in my lab (without an exchange server) and the the lycn 2010 and 2013 clients behave as they should be not displaying the job titles.
Having anyone come across this before?
I will be patching the lync 2010 server to the latest CU update, but I think the issue is somewhere else.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Danie

    Hi Danie,
I suggest you could install the latest CU update first, because the CU update would fix many problems.
In addition, shall we test Lync 2013 on a fresh computer without Outlook?(You could test this using Lync 2013 Basic).
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Novell Client 4.91 on Windows 7 doesn't work right?

Just to confirm for one of my vendors, Novell Client 4.91 cannot be used on
    a Windows 7 workstation correct?
His application takes over 5 minutes to open when accessed from a Windows 7
    workstation using Novell Client 2 SP3 (IR4).
He is telling me I need to "upgrade" to version 4.91.

Yes, pausing the Workstation service allows the app to open in less than ten
    seconds.

  • Battery more than reserve power, icon still showing RED !!!

This is a story of a 7 days old macbook pro. After using it down till 7% when put on idle charging till 58%, when brought it back to life, battery icon has got half fill but its Red. Its very strange to see something that you dnt believe and is not true.
that normalised in next 1 minute. but still it scared the **** out of me. common its just 7 days old guys.
Kindly suggest if this is kind of symptom to anything.
Incident took place @ 5pm today (india).
    Power condition : Normal

sorry everybody, to bother for a very sill thing !!
actually what happens is once you open your macbook it takes time to come out of the idle mode and then refreshes and shows you the current standings of your machine.
Start using your machine after 30 seconds or a minute once opened up.
    just that.

  • Grid is still showing Tagert after uninstalling the agent

    Hi DBAs,
I installed the agent (10.2.0.4.0) on Linux_64 (RHEL) box and configured it with Grid Control. I was able to see the target in the Grid Conrol. I need to uninstall the agent from this host in order to configure it with Other Grid Control. Now once I uninstalled the agent from the target. I am still seeing the target host in grid with agent down status. I want to remove the target from the grid, plz let me know how can I do that.
    Regards
    -Samar-

    Hi Samar,
Ideally its recommended to first remove the target from Grid Control console as mentioned in NOTE.271691.1. As you have already uninstalled the agent, issue the following command connected as sysman user from repository database to remove the agent and targets:
    conn sysman
    exec mgmt_admin.cleanup_agent('agentname:port');
    commit;
The above command removes the agent and all targets montiorred by the agent. It might take time to remove the target depending on the number of targets monitored.
    Hope this helps.

  • Activated Aggregates still shows Status RED. How do I fix this?

    Hi,
I created aggregates based on a 2 queries which are having some performance problems.
I then Saved, and Activated. During the activation, there was a message that an existing aggregate Stat29 will be overwritten. I chose Yes at that point.
Within 5 mins when I refreshed the screen, for Stat20, Status was Green but Filled column was Red. After 30 mins, both the Status and Filled columns became Green.
The problem is that still after one hour, my activation created 4 new entries:
    Max Min 0
    Max Min 2
    Min 0
    Max 2
and all these are still showing RED for the Status and for Filled columns.
    1. What could be going on? Is it an indication of a problem?
    2. What do these represent and mean: Max Min 0, Max Min 2, Min 0, Max 2
    3. Is there a way to confirm that the Aggregates have been filled
    4. How do I confirm that the aggregate can now be used by the two queries I created the aggregates for?
    Thanks

    Hi Amanda,
    1. What could be going on? Is it an indication of a problem?
If I understood it right, you are seeing additional aggregates than the one that you have created based on the two queries. The additional aggrs are the system suggested aggrs, if you dont want them you can delete them.
    2. What do these represent and mean: Max Min 0, Max Min 2, Min 0, Max 2
These are the system suggested aggrs, if you dont want them you can delete them.
    3. Is there a way to confirm that the Aggregates have been filled
If you see a green lights at the Status and Filled columsn your aggrs are filled and ready for action.
    4. How do I confirm that the aggregate can now be used by the two queries I created the aggregates for?
You can confirm if proper aggrs are being used or not using RSRT. In RSRT enter the query tech name and select Execute+debug. In the popup screen select "Display Aggregate Found" under "Aggrs". Click continue and execute the query, when you see the query result click the Back(green) arrow in the top toolbar. The next screen should give you the aggregates used information, keep clicking the back arrow for all the aggrs used.
Hope this helps...Assign points if it does.

  • Monitor issue - PC completed but monitor shows red

We have implemented Support Pack.  For one of the data load -  Process chain has completed and data loaded to cube but process chain log still shows red.  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mohammed

    Hi,
If you feel that this issue is happened due to support pack implementation then all of your process chains available in system should have monitor status as RED.
But if you are facing issue with particular load then check the process log and job log in SM37. There might be some issues in current load, try to repeate the load and see how it works?

  • 10.3 + Novell Client 2 SP1 IR4 + UAC = no refresh

    Software/Versions:
    Novell Client 2 SP1 IR4
    ZCM 10.3.0
    Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit
Performing our first win7 tests and ran into a fairly major issue. Besides the very first login, ZCM will not refresh when rebooted, logout/login of windows, F5 in NAL or zac ref bypasscache.
If we manually logout of ZCM then back in, it will refresh properly.
Looking through the debug, didn't see any obvious failures. The client seems to just be using the cache, login is faster then we are used too:).
We have removed cache, unr/reg, reinstalled ZCM, messed with firewall/novell client settings with no effect.
We did find the the Novell client is what causes the issue. Refreshed work fine without the novell client, once it is installed refreshes don't work. Though if I disable UAC + novell client refreshes will start to work again.
Any throughts on what else I could try? UAC is pretty important to us.

Requirement: I am planning to install edirectory directory service for my customer, since the requirement is to have a Directory Service like AD, & to provide logging service to the directory, & to have all the user data & home directories on the server. The users have different desktops like Windows XP,7,RHEL & Ubuntu desktops. I need Novell Client to install on all the user machines & provide logging services.
    1) Is edir can be used to apply policies & group policies like AD.
    2) Novell Client for RHEL & Ubuntu
    3) To create volumes on the OES (like we do on netware servers) to share the volumes to the users.
    4) iManager is installed but the browser is unable to open the page.(object not found)
    5) Users Home Directories should be stored in server.
    Server OS: SLES 10 SP4 32-bit
    Applications: OES2 SP3 32-bit

By itself, no. You would either need to use OES2 which includes Domain
Services for Windows, which is essentially AD emulation on top of eDir,
or you would need to use ZENworks which provides extensive policies and
desktop management capabilities. ZENworks will work with either eDir
    or AD.
    > 2) Novell Client for RHEL & Ubuntu
This does not exist. There is only a Novell Client for Windows and for
    SUSE Linux.

That's easily done with OES2. You can create NSS volumes just like on
NetWare, or even share Linux directories as NCP volumes accessible from
    any Novell client.

That's going to be its own issue and should go into either an OES2 or
    iManager forum.

Not a problem, at least with storing home directories on NSS. I'm not
sure about storing them in a non-NSS filesystem.

OES2 SP3 should meet many of your needs it appears. You can get
policies with DSfW, but you have to install DSfW at the same time you
install the server. You can't (currently) add it after the fact.

  • SCCM 2012 Client was removed but SCCM console still showing the status as "Yes"

    Hi,
In a VM, SCCM 2012 client agent was removed and the VM was reverted back to a clean machine. SCCM console still shows the status as "Yes" even after the client agent was removed. Heartbeat Discovery is set to run every 1 hour.
    Please guide on this.
    Regards, Lorin Davis

It's kind like a person dying (sorry to be a bit morbid) -- how does the phone company know the person died? The dead person certainly can't tell them and the phone company doesn't query every person it services and ask them "are you alive?"
Thus, someone else must notify them of the person's passing. This is no different than a client agent "dying" in ConfigMgr. A ConfigMgr site never initiates communication with clients and thus something else needs to tell the site that the client
agent is dead. You! Or, an automated process (as Torsten mentioned) that goes through automatically marks a client as "dead" that hasn't been heard from in x number of days.

  • Login intermittently slow with ZCM agent AND Novell client

We continue to struggle with intermittently slow logins in our environment. In testing, we noticed that logins are very fast (10-20 seconds) when only the Novell Client is installed, and very fast (~10 seconds) when only the ZCM agent is installed. However, when they are both installed, logins slow down, sometimes to 1.5 minutes or longer.
We have checked DNS and rDNS, and they are both configured properly. SLP is working properly as demonstrated by the fast logins when only the client is installed. We use LDAP for user lookup, and it also works very fast to resolve user names (~ 1 second).
We are using ZCM 10.3.1, and the client is fully patched as well (both Novell Client 2 and 4.91)
Are there any specific settings (for the ZCM agent or the client itself) that might address this issue?

My apologies, I told you to remove the wrong thing.
I should have said NMAS instead of CASA.
I am just so used to saying CASA when talking about ZCM.
In regards to NMAS, you could simply rename "NWSSO.DLL" as a test.
If NMAS is installed which is tested by the existence of this DLL, then
a certain NMAS call is always made, which in some cases can take a long
    time.

    Hi DaVince Vince,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your iPhone. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear what issues you were having that led up to the attempted Erase All, and/or exactly what behavior you are seeing now (restarting, not responding at all, etc). If you are seeing an Apple Logo screen and your iPhone does not appear to be starting correctly, you may find the following articles helpful:
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

  • Lync User Phone Number Changed in AD - Still Showing Old (Normalized) Number Days Later in Lync Client Contact Detail

Environment:  Lync 2013 backend; Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients.  Enterprise Voice not implemented.  November 2013 CU Applied on Server.
Issue:  Lync user (User A) phone number changed in AD but still showing old number for others days later.
Believed Cause:  User A has not logged into Lync since change to republish new phone number?
So after reading this http://masteringlync.com/ I am beginning to think that something I perceived as an issue may actually be by design?
    Action:
User A work phone number changed in AD.  User A has only one phone entry in AD.  Normalization rule in place to basically leave number unchanged (working)
    Result:
New phone number propogated fine to Exchange/Outlook fine.  Old number displaying only in Lync client when viewing User A contact card detail
Lync 2010 Client displays only old number when looking at Client A contact detail (this client only presents phone numbers if they are actually normalized)
Lync 2013 Client displays two work numbers.
One that we identify as a "display number" just as entered in AD - this shows correctly as the new number.  Another that we identify as the "normalized number" which is still the old
    number (same as 2010 Client)
Same results whether contact is saved in Lync Client or not and is not related to Outlook contacts - in fact one test was with a Lync account that is not Mail Enabled.
I did a dbanalyze to view the SQL database detail for User A and see that Category 'userInformation' has the old phone number and the time stamp on it seems to coincide with a Lync Cllient database change (user login or refresh on that end) so this seems
to futher confirm my findings thus my reaching the point of conceding it might be out of my control.
My Question I guess is ....
Have others discovered this?  Is this a bug or do normalized phone numbers actually requre a client login to accept/republish the number correctly to others even though the information is updated in AD?  User detail and how it propogates seems to
be the biggest mystery and it gets harder and harder to explain to users why changes aren't displaying accuralely.

Thanks Richard... your blog definitely hit home with what I was seeing but guess I just didn't want to accept that as the end of the road on this.  I'm still in a little misbelief that client interaction is necessary to update a backend change.
This process really makes phone numbers in Lync an unreliable source given a user will never know if it is it up to date.  And the problem with Lync 2013 client is it shows both numbers in the client ... the address book one with the
updated AD numbers and the one the normalized AD one that the user has to login to republish.  I now more fully understand the process but trying to explain that to users when they see different work numbers .. ugh.
Oh well, guess the important part is to understand the process so thanks again.
