Novell Groupwise to Hosted Exchange Migration
We are looking to migrate a client from Novell Groupwise Email to Hosted Exchange. It seems the only toll available to assist with this type of migration is the following:
http://www.quest.com/groupwise-migrator-for-exchange/
Does anyone know of any tools that Microsoft provides that are similar to this? I cannot really find any information via searching google, the microsoft partner portal...etc...
Thanks,
Ian
Most cusotmers moving from Groupwise utilize Quest Tools.
A couple other options, depending on the size of your user base:

http://www.migrationwiz.com/Public/landing/groupwisemigrations.aspx?gclid=COX0jc28sKcCFQkFbAodBFngBw
If it wasn't difficult, it wouldn't be fun, but why's it got to be this much fun.

Migrate Novell Groupwise to Exchange Server
Migrating from one platform to another is really very tedious and complex job. However, manual migration of each user mailbox from Novell GroupWise to Exchange can be an extremely tedious and time consuming task. Starting from preparing Novell GroupWise

Generic Groupwise to Exchange Migration Advice
Good afternoon folks, I am after some general advice/guideance on a migration project that I am about to start working on.
We're taking a Novell eDirector/Groupwise environment to Microsoft AD/Exchange...I know there's tools/utils that will do the migration but I am just after some general real world experiences/gotcha's etc.
The AD will be a nice new Win2008 R2 AD so first question is, what order should I approach this in..
Build new AD
Install Exchange
Migrate User Accounts/Data
Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
or
Build new AD
Install Exchange
Migrate Groupwise to Exchange
Migrate User Accouts/Data
To me the first looks more logical but I'm looking for advice from the trenches so to speak....
Also, what utils/tools would you recommend for the migration and co-existence?Hello,
I think you can do migrate Groupwise to Exchange at last.
Here is one related document for you, hope can give you some help:

I am hoping I am posting to the correct forum. We are currently using a hosted Exchange 2010 service through Intermedia and due to continuing issues with them and the pricing, we are getting ready to migrate to Microsoft’s Office 365 Enterprise
E1 platform. My question is this, besides the fact that we will need to set up ADFS for SSO, will I be able to migrate our existing mailboxes from Intermedia to Office 365 without having to purchase additional software?
The current configuration we have with Intermedia allows for us to use OWA and our OST files for our current users are cached locally on the workstations.
We also do not have any public folders in use. I have searched the web, but I have not been able to find a definitive answer or steps that I should take to prepare for this type of migration.
Any suggestions on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.It looks as I should be able to from reading that article. Not sure why the company that want to set this all up for me wanted $12,000 for something I can do with 6 steps.
Thank you -
Migrating from Gmail to Hosted Exchange / Outlook 2010
My company has been using Gmail for its email for the last 5 years.
We were sharing a single company wide email address for 3 users. All incoming mail came [email protected].
Gmail let us create our own signature to the outgoing mail and the world was OK.
Everyone saw everything; anybody could tackle any issue or contact whoever was needed to keep things rolling smoothly.
Over 5 years our email spool grew HUGE.
As the company grew we have come against a few problems.
1. No privacy. The owners of the company have to use personal email accounts to talk about anything they don’t want the rest of the company to hear.
2. We recently started bringing in outside help to work on "special projects" and company information (past and present) and individual privacy is now important.
So I suggested switching from Gmail web based email to Outlook/Hosted Exchange.
Migrating our mail system was horrible, but I got it done in about 5 days over the 4th of July long weekend.
What I ended up doing is creating a user called EVERYONE.
I moved everything from Gmail into that account. I retained the directory structure we created in Gmail that has 100’s and 100’s of folders and subfolders.
I let (almost) everyone share that EVERYONE user.
Everybody also has a [email protected] email address.
When new mail comes in it get delivered [email protected], each person then sorts the message into our EVERYONE user account under
the proper project folder / subfolder / sub-category. This system works OK but I am sure there is an easier way, BUT THAT IS NOT WHY I AM WRITING.
MY PROBLEMS ARE:
Because we are using the old project folder granular Gmail file system it is difficult to move mail into the proper folders.
When we were using Gmail you would start typing the project name / subcategory and it would POP UP and you would drop the mail.
A typical folder nesting would be: ACTIVE PROJECTS->Jones Residence -> Sub-Contractors->Painting-> Master Bath->Wallpaper Samples
OUTLOOK does not let you move mail through a contextual system.
You have to “Drag and Drop”, but navigating through 5 or 6 folders and subfolders over and over is a PITA and my users want something similar to the Gmail system.
Ceptara's Organizer for Outlook and QuickFile for Outlook available on Slipstick look like 2 possible solutions.
Has anyone used either program?
How well did they do what I outlined here? Any other suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,
KevinHello,

Migration exchange 2010 to hosted exchange 2013
Hello,
Tried to search for a good solution for what I need but always redirected to places of office365.
I will explain what i need and maybe you could find me a good solution.
I have several offices that i give IT support. Some of them with exchange 2003 and some with 2007-2010.
I want to migrate their servers to my new hosted exchange 2013 (multi-tenancy).
Is there a way to do CutOver migration?
What are my options?
P.s. All offices are working with calendars so PSTing their mailboxes is out of the question.
Hope you understand what i wanted to do.
Thanks for the help.
Lior. For what you're planning, a cutover migration would be best. For that I would recommend a tool like Migrationwiz (http://www.migrationwiz.com). You can start the migration in advance, get the data copied
and then do a final incremental move on the cutover date. In addition to the mailbox move, you will want to synchronize the directories and ensure that the legacyExchangeDN property of the source mailboxes appear as proxy addresses of type
X500 on the target mailboxes or else they won't be able to reply to old mail or use Outlook contacts or cached addresses. I don't recall whether MigrationWiz can take care of that for you or not.

Migrating from Shared/Hosted Exchange 2010 to Onsite Exchange 2013
Hi All,
Hoping for some advice regarding a migration project I'm due to run with. A client has their current email data with a 3rd party hosted Exchange platform, this is a completely separate platform from their onsite AD infrastructure.
Platform wise it is built on Exchange 2010 that only really allows OWA/Outlook Anywhere/ActiveSync access. We'd like to migrate this platform to a more dedicated onsite Exchange 2013 platform.
Any software tools or advice appreciated, we're hoping to avoid exporting all the content to PST and manually importing but if this is the only way then fair enough. If there are utilities that may allow mailbox backfilling to suck the data out and in to
the new mailboxes in 2013 that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance!Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to migrate mailboxes from the other forest to your forest.
I recommend you refer to the following article to achieve migration:

Hope this helps!
Thanks.

Event 672 audit failure after migration to hosted Exchange
I recently migrated a company to hosted Exchange. They had been previously using in-house Exchange 2003 (on SBS 2003). Exchange has been removed form the server and the 2003 SBS server is still running as the DC.
Right after the migration the server began to recieve Error 672 failure audits, 1000s per day.
I suspect these can be safely ignored, but is there a way to stop them as they show up on daily security reports.

We can stop audit failure events from being logged in Event Viewer by editing audit policy. More specifically, we can set the Group Policy setting
Audit logon events to not to audit logon failure
(uncheck the Failure checkbox), here is a screenshot below:

Google Apps migration to Hosted Exchange
Hi,
We have recently migrated from Gmail to Hosted Exchange. For historical data we setup mailboxes to download Gmail using IMAP then we exported these into PSTs.
We imported the PSTs into the users new Exchange accounts (Aware no calendar/contacts at this stage)- what we have found now is the Gmail reference folders, which is expected, but when you right click on it it still has 'IMAP Folder'. When we go back into
the account we cant see any IMAP links, and considering this was imported with PST surely these would've been lost (that's what I expected).
The issue now is you cant freely drag and drop as the IMAP is causing permission issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hi,
I find a related article about "Migrate from Gmail to Office 365 in 7 steps":
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn568114.aspx
Even if it isn't Hosted Exchange server, the information maybe helped.
Please paste the detailed errors when can't drag and drop.
Thanks

Good afternoon all,
The school district I manage is currently using locally hosted exchange server(s) for mail. (Server 2012 box that has Exchange 2013, and an older Server 2008 box that has Exchange 2010)
We are wanting to make the migration to full online Office 365. We're talking about 450-500 mailboxes maximum.
In order to do this as seamlessly as possible, I need some help.
Any of you pros that have any gotchas/recommendations/best practices or walk-thrus for this i'm all ears.
Thanks so much, i really appreciate any help that can be given on this.Vasil, thank you very much for this...it really helps a lot. One question for you, and i hope i'm understanding this correctly. In our school district, we have 2000+ students, and 350~ faculty. We will still be locally managing our users (who will
be tied to email addresses that will then be hosted in office 365) through local active directory. Will this be a problem? The only reason I ask this is because of reading this: Do you want to manage user accounts in your on-premises organization? No (listed
for cutover) We will keep our user account management (if that's what this is talking about) local on the DCs that are on our domain through ADUC. Is this what it's talking about, or is it talking about managing their email addresses? Maybe i'm making this
more difficult than it is... thanks for all the help! -
EP 6.0 SP2 integration with Novell Groupwise
Hi,
I am trying to integrate novell groupwise (email system) with EP 6.0 Collaboration Launch pad. So user can get all the functionality of CLP. Rightnow EP6 support only lotus and MS exchange server (out of the box). Seems we need to write some email transport, using KM java API. Please send me some how to guides or step-by-step info or some sample code. It would be very helpful.
Thanks
Regards
ganaI have got very good experiences with Groupwise connectivity with the SAP Portal over KM Transport APIs.
Is your question still relevant?

Can SAP CRM synchronizes with groupwise?

Regards,
Chuong HoangHi,
sorry for my slowly respond.
according to information shared from help.sap.com. I know that:
"SAP provides two SAP Groupware Connectors, one for MS Exchange Server and the other for Lotus Domino Server."
"The SAP Groupware connector consists of:
_ SAP Groupware connector.
_ SAP Groupware connector proxy."
in case that I need a connection between SAP CRM and Novell GroupWise, what will I can do???
1. Do I need to develop my own SAP Groupware connector, which consists of 2 listed things above?
2. Is it possible to do that?
Please help me answer these questions.

Novell Groupwise Setup for iPhone
I have finally set up my iPhone to receive e-mail from my Novell Groupwise 7.0 mail system. To accomplish this, I used IMAP, entered my server's host name, my user name and password as requested. The hangup appears to have been that my server did not allow me to send mail via the phone since the phone is on another network (ATT's) than the mail server and relaying was prohibited. For the outgoing settings, I entered the generic ATT smtp host name of cwmx.com with no user name or password entered.
I disabled the wireless connection to make my initial account connection and to establish the account verification. I did this because I understand that cwmx.com only works on the EDGE network. Also, while trying to set up the iPhone mail account on wireless, if you don't have all the settings correct, or can't make the full verification of both incoming and outgoing, you will get a verification failure.
Once I took these steps, I was able to immediately connect. This connection created the account on my mail application so that I could then go deeper into advanced settings. I ensured that SSL was turned off. I saw that the incoming port was set to 143. The Apple technician had suggested using the default setting of 110, however, this did not work for me. When I reverted to 143, it worked immediately. The smtp port was set automatically to the default :25
I was able to receive all my work mail, and was able to send myself a reply using the EDGE network. When I then connected to wireless, I was also able to receive an e-mail. However, when I replied using wireless, the e-mail did not send, as expected. Once it failed, I found the message in the outbox and expect that once I disable wireless, or am on the EDGE network naturally, it will send. As I type this, I am on the EDGE network and the phone indicates that it is 'connecting', so I may still have some bugs to work out, but at least 60 messages came through from the server when I had not been able to connect ever before.I have similar settings for Groupwise at work, I believe. What you posted is similar to what I see when I try to log in and it fails. It gives me a manual log in screen which has the :1677 portion.
I'm not a tech guy, I just worked with my tech guy to figure out that our Gwise server (for a city government) wouldn't allow me to access it remotely to send an e-mail so we had to trick the phone into using the ATT outgoing server to send an e-mail.
Once I had my account set up, I was able to create an account for a colleague while she was trying to access her account on her Treo. While she was fiddling with it, I duplicated my settings with her account name and password and it immediately worked on my phone with her account.
Our settings are IMAP. We didn't have to use the 10.21.1.20 type of settings at all.
As I re-read your post, it's not clear if you are using the wireless connection or if you are on the edge network. I couldn't get the account to connect initially until I disabled wireless within the settings section. Once I did that, it connected, created the validation and gave me an established account under the mail tab. Once I had that, I could go into the advanced settings and disable SSL, etc.
Now, I seem to be able to receive Groupwise e-mail through wireless connections, but have to be on the EDGE network to send. -
Groupwise Gateway for Exchange
We are trying to setup the GroupWise gateway for exchange. The exchange server, the GroupWise Gateway for Exchange and the domain that owns the gateway are all installed on the same Windows 2003 server, along with the novell client and the Groupwise client.
When we try to start the gateway, we get a series of errors that are shown in TID#3644821 and we have gone through those settings and verfiied everything.

Google Apps to Exchange Migration
We are using google apps for email services and and having about 1400 email ids. i have installed exchange
2013 and want to migrate all the emails in exchange. Please suggest me how can i migrateHi,
We can try Quest or Binary Tree for this migration:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/35623dcc-abd9-4212-9d44-6ccfd46d51e5/gmail-to-exchange-2010-migration?forum=exchangesvradminlegacy
Also, I find a related article about "Migrate from Gmail to Office 365 in 7 steps":
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn568114.aspx
Even if it isn't Hosted Exchange server, the information maybe helped.
Thanks
