Novell-iprint-server patch-11778

Hi.
I just installed patch-11778 via rug on a clustered node for the iprint
server and now I can not even start ipsmd on that node, iprint stops
with "FATAL Error (506D000C) occurred while initializing the Managed
Object database". Luckily I have not upgraded the other node in the
cluster so I can still start the iprint server there.
I searched everywhere on novell.com about this patch but could not even
find any confirmation that the patch exists. The patch info in rug
claimed to resolve the issues we have (needing to restart iprint every
couple of hours/days).
Anyone know anything more?
/anders

I have just encountered the problem with the same results. Fortunately,
Novell came out with a patch that I installed via Linux Patch Manager.
The iPrint patch is Open Enterprise Server Patch 11856, released
10/16/07, and it resolved my Print Manager's inability to start.
Good Luck with yours.

  • How to validate users with Novell Directory Server

Hi all, with iAS 6.0 SP3, how i can validate users stored in Novell
    Directory Sever?
    Thanks

    Hi
I believe iAS is designed to work with iDS which is bundled along
with the SP3 download. Also the directory server which is working with
iAS must be Nortel LDAP Schema compatible and I'm not sure if NDS(Novell
Directory Server) is compatible. What I'm trying to understand is if you
have already registered iAS with NDS and you are having trouble in
accessing the users or if you are having trouble in the installation.

  • ALSB 3.0:  Unable to retrieve files from Novell FTP Server

I have written several ALSB proxy services that retrieve data from Unix FTP servers. This works great and I haven't experienced any major issues. However, I now have to write a service that monitors a directory on a Novell FTP server. The same exact code works great pointed against a unix ftp server, but when pointed against the Novell FTP server, the proxy service never finds any files to process even though I have manually connected to that ftp server using the same id/password and have been able to see the files.
All the proxy is supposed to do is poll for files and copy them to the ALSB server for processing. Very very simplistic and works great against a Unix ftp server.
I turned on the transport debug option and this is all that shows:
<Ftp Client created and connected successfully for '+my_server+:21 for user:+myuserid+>
    <+FileWorkPartitioningAgent.execute()>
    <Returning 0 tasks.>
    <-FileWorkPartitioningAgent.execute()>
We ran a packet trace on the server and we see the following commands being executed:
    User myuserid
    mypassword
    SYST
    TYPE i
    PASV
    list .
    TYPE i
    PASV
    list .
    quit
The files are in the "landing" directory for the user, so I am certain that it isn't a pathing issue. I'm just running out of ideas.
    Some questions I have are:
    1. has anyone experienced/resolved this issue before?
    2. is there any way to do custom configuration of the ftp client (disable the PASV aka passive mode, enable debugging, etc) used by the FTP transport?
    3. Could the FTP Transport not like the format of the list results from the Novell FTP server?
If anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them.
    Thanks!

    Hi Iccarus
I realise its been quite a while since you wrote this thread but, in my desperation, I hoped you might have made some progress on this. I too am having almost identical issues:
    1. Can get/put files via ALSB ftp from/to unix or microsoft ftp server
    2. Can put files via ALSB ftp to the problem ftp server (not sure of its flavour atm)
    3. Can get/put files from the command line from/to the problem ftp server
    4. Cant get files via ALSB ftp from the problem server
The commands which were executed at the problem server are very similar to those you found:
    successful login
    ls
    ls
    quit
Any insights would be greatly appreciated

    Hello Satish,
I guess when you installed SP1 for SQL server 2012 you missed  to apply for Analysis service .Now what you have to do is first run SQL serevr 2012 SP1 setup and update Anaysis service to latest SP i.e SP1 .After you are done with SP1 installation for
Analysis service then proceed with SQL server 2012 CU3 installation

  • I think I did something weird with foundation/server patching

We've built many SP sites over the last 3 years.  We're now moving in to 2013.  most of our sites are 2010.
For the old sites, both myself and my colleagues were just learning on the fly how to deploy and patch.  Over the years we've gained a better understanding of both.
Something I've done though in the past, i don't know how it affects the deployments and I was wondering if someone could shed some light on it.
We used SharePoint server with internet, mostly.  When patching, we saw that there were two sets of patches, foundation and server.
We didn't have a full understanding of both but now do.  They are stand alone products.  However, we though they were component levels of the same installation, and for years we've been applying both the foundation patches, and the server patches
right behind that.  It's worked fine.  We've never received any errors about patching.
Now that I know better, i'm only deploying server patches to the new 2013 deployments.
I was asked to add a 3rd server to one of our old farms.  I ran in to a patching mismatch warning when trying to join the farm.  This made me think about how we patched foundation and server even though we're running server.  One of the warnings
was that those foundation patches were missing.
So I restarted and used the exact same patches and it worked fine.  Still, i'm wondering what the overall impact of our old patching methods has on the product?
My hope is that everything in SP foundation is part of SP server, so the patches I made, assuming the same level of patching, only duplicated patching effort, and there are no technical drawbacks to having patched foundation then server on the same environment.
    Anyone know?

    Hi,
There are some different patches for SharePoint, to better understanding the different patches, I think you can have a look at the following articles which contains the different patches in SharePoint.
Hey! Should I install this SharePoint patch?
    http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=433
For example, the “cumulative” part means if you install the August 2012 CU you don’t need install the June 2012 CU first.
CUs are also cumulative in the sense that the SharePoint Server patch includes the patches for SharePoint Foundation.
The Project Server CU includes the SharePoint Server and SharePoint Foundation patches as well. You only need to install the CU for the product you have.
This is a welcome change from SharePoint 2007 where we had to stack the patches.
Also, CUs contains the patches for all the supported languages which is why they’re so large.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • HTTP Server Patch - 4393827 for Oracle EBS 11i

    Hi,
    Our env is Oracle EBS 11i (11.5.10) + CU2 +ATG RUP6. We are currently on 9.2.0.8.0
I am currently applying Minimum Baseline Patches for extended support - +Patch Requirements for Extended Support of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 [ID 883202.1]+.
For the HTTP Server Patch - 4393827 do I need to apply patches for all the below components? It prompted me 4 times to apply the patch for each component.
    OHS_1.0.2.2 component
    MODPLSQL component
    Webcache_1.0.2.2
    DB_8.1.7.4
    Rgds,
    Thiru

    Thanks.
    I applied HTTP Server Patch - 4393827 in my upgraded instance 11.5.10 CU2ATG RUP6.
    Now the Apache version is:
Server version: Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.19 (Win32)
    Server built:   Jun 14 2005 15:26:57 (iAS 1.0.2.2.2 rollup 5)
While applying HTTP Server Patch - 4393827, I was prompted to enter Y or N to apply patch for the following components individually. I had the option to enter N also.
    OHS_1.0.2.2 component
    MODPLSQL component
    Webcache_1.0.2.2 component
    DB_8.1.7.4 component
I entered Y(Yes) for all the components and the patching was successful for all the components.
I am doubtful about the DB_8.1.7.4 component patch. Should I say Y to this also?. Since my Instance is on 9.2.0.8.0 is it required to apply this component (DB_8.1.7.4 component) also?

  • Server Patch Management Automation

    Hi,
I am looking for a robust reliable tool to automate server patching. I have tried a combination of VB and Powershell scripts along with scheduled task however this was not as reliable as I would have liked. I have also been looking into third party application
but I have not yet found one that is robust and reliable. The end result is that i would like a way to do the following.
1.Work without the need for a SUS server if possible and also handle third party patches
    2. perform a pre-scan that shows what patches are needed and allow me to approve those patches/ it would be nice to approve patches for specific groups of servers (critical-noncritical)
    3. set groups of servers to patch on a specific day of the month at a set time and be confident that the process will kick off.
I would also like to be able to view status as machines are being patches.
    4. The final thing I would like is to receive a report after the patches have been installed indicating success or failure of what has been installed.
I have found scripts that are able to do this in conjunction with WSUS however they have not been as reliable as I would like. My environment is over 90% virtualized and we have a combination of 2008 and 2012 servers.
Please let me know if there are any third party products anyone can recommend.
    Thanks,
    Ken

1.Work without the need for a SUS server if possible and also handle third party patches
Can you explain what you mean by the first part of this requirement?
    e.g. you don't want (W)SUS because......?
Is it because you don't want to download and host the updatefiles/binaries centrally? (i.e. you want to pull them directly from the web source to the updateclient machine?
For the second part of this requirement (handle third party patches), do you mean anything and everything, or typical stuff such as is offered via SCUP catalogs, or shavlik/SPM/secunia/etc?
I assume you are seeking no-cost or low-cost options?

  • How to apply Content server patch

    Hi,
How do I apply a Content server patch on Solaris. The Content server installed is 6.40
I followed the OSS Note Note 514500 - Importing Support Packages for the SAP Content Server.
It says Replace the Shared Libraries in the directory "libexec" of your Content Server/Cache Server installation against the files from the ZIP archive.
I do not find libexec directory on Content Server in <sid>csc user and <sid>cs user. Based on this, I have the following questions.
1- Can you please let me know, where can I get this directory libexec.
2- Also please let me know, how can I get the latest patch version of my content server 6.40
3- Can anyone provide me OSS Notes, help URL for Content Server 6.40 on Unix flavour (solaris etc)
    Thanks,

    Dear Abdul,
It looks like your installation is not complete, please recheck.
    1) You will find the libexec in the installation directory of the <sid>cs and <sid>csc folders.
    2) I have successfully applied the patch for the same using the SAP Note no: 514500 and its updated successfully.
    3) Steps in breif
    3.1) Stop the apache server
3.2) Extract the downloaded patch on your local desktop, which extarcts few .so files
3.3) Thru any FTP client (winscp) copy the files on the local desktop to the folde /<sid>cs/libexec folder
3.4) Set the permissions to 755
    3.5) Start the Apache server
3.6) Goto CSAdmin on your R3 system and check the version change in the Overview Tab under Version, Build and pVersion sections
    Hope this helps

  • SAP Content server patches

I am looking at patching my SAP 6.40 Content server on Windows 2008 R2 in order to do a homogenous system copy. The system uses MAXDB 7.8 as storage. I have two questions, how do I find the patch level of the current content server software. CSADMIN just tells me version 6.40 build 201 pversion 046, is this last number the patch, or is it the server patch entry under the tab statistics . I ask this because if I look in the SWDC the last patch listed is 18 not 046.  If I do need to patch the system do the patches have to be applied in sequence or if 18 is the latest patch can I skip everything up to 18. The notes related to the patches for content server are unspecific on this last point.
    Thank you
    Troy

    Chandu,
I know what patches are available from SAP, the question was where do you find the Content Server patch level after you install it. Which on playing with the system last night and monitoring the various screens I was able to find after all. In transaction CSADMIN select the content store you want to patch, on the Statistics tab there is an entry, ServerPatch,  this value coincides with the patch level of the content server. The answer as to wether the patches are cumulative or incremental I will find out in a couple of hours as I decided to patch the server under the assumption that patches where cumulative.  I will know after the users test the patches I applied last night.

Patchsets are always downloaded from Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com). Assuming, of course, that you have a support contract.
I didn't think 10.2.0.4 was available yet, but perhaps I just missed the memo.

  • IPrint functionality gone in Linux iPrint server

We have an application that uses specific fonts that need to be
downloaded to the printer before the job prints. They are PCL fonts.
A long time ago we would capture a printer to LPT1 and then run a
program that would push the fonts to LPT1, then we'd print from the
    application.
When we went to iPrint I talked to the iPrint developers and they came
up with a great idea that has served us well. They suggested creating a
print banner that was actually the font file. That way, when anyone
tried printing to one of the printers setup for the application, it
would automatically send the fonts as a banner and things worked great.
That capability is gone in the iPrint for OES Linux. You can no longer
create custom banners so we can't send the fonts. Does anyone know a
way around this? Is anything coming (maybe in OES 2) that will add the
functionality back? Or, does anyone know another way to do it?

  • Mail problem accessing Novell POP server

This one is both complicated and puzzling, and I sure would appreciate a solution.
We use Novell Groupwise for email. It allows both POP and IMAP access.
Two weeks ago, I stopped being able to access mail from the servers using either POP or IMAP from both home and office. Simultaneously, almost. At home I was using Mail, at the office Eudora.
After the usual tinkering, I got both home and office working with Mail through POP. That lasted a few days.
Yesterday, POP stopped working at the office. Then, at one point, it worked, and the day's mail came in all at once. Then it stopped working. I went home. I got a lot of mail when I checked in. Then it stopped. Today, I've gotten no mail at the office from the POP server.
Mail is communicating with the server. When I put the wrong password in, it lets me know it was not accepted. I don't get that message with the right password.
My IT people say the mail server is functioning properly, and that no one else who uses Mail is having similar problems. I've checked all the settings, and they are as they should be.
    I recently upgraded to 10.4.1.11.
Does this sound like a problem anyone has seen before?

Thanks to infinite vortex.  Changing the frequency from five to fifteen minutes seems to have solved the problem, at least so far.  Curious--but not surprising--that I could find nothing about such a limit anywhere on Cox's web site, nor was this mentioned by their tech support in a series of exchanges trying to resolve the problem.
