Novell Teaming vs. Kablink Teaming
I am currently tesiting both versions of the teaming software and have come across some differences that confuse me a little. One difference that stands out to me is when sharing a project work space and what users can see and cannot see. The Kablink Teaming allows me to very specifically share individual tasks so that a user that has access and even admin permissions cannot see this task unless I maually assign it to him or their group. This to me seems like a really good option and I am wondering why the Novell version does function in this manner and is there a way to change it back.
There are comparisons on both the Novell and Kablink sites that list the differences.
The biggest difference for us is that Novell Teaming uses the Oracle Outside-In document readers to decode docs.

Future of VO / Novell Teaming + Conferencing
I looked at the Novell Teaming + Conferencing product, but it seems like
some functionality of the current Virtual Office product will be missing.
There is no mention of things like eGuide, e-mailintegration or ZENWorks
integration.
It has features like:
Document management and sharing
Team calendars and shared task lists
Discussion forums, Wikis and blogs
Workflow management
Knowledge management with quick search capabilities
Web and voice conferencing
Team instant messaging
Application sharing and whiteboarding
Presence awareness
I called Novell, but they could not give any further details about the
features of the product or an expected release date.
Does it make sense to start building a new Virtual Office environment when
OES2 will no longer include it?
Kind regards,

I find it a shame that Novell things that they can just discontinue a
product used by 60% of my customer base with more coming on board every
quarter. Yes my customers are slow to impliment, but then again it is
not like the product has changed that much. I think that Novell should
continue to support a product as a starting point for the other products
they are adding on. To remove it now, without a lot of notice is going
to hurt the already damaged desire that some feel about the loss of the
Netware platform. If they have it in OES2/Netware. They should at
least continue it for another version of OES2/Linux, as most of the
people I know have moved their VO to linux to add iFolder 3
functionality. They want us to move to Linux but then drop a software
package that they were pushing as a way to add Linux to an environment
in the first place. Strange?? -
2 users can't login - HTTP Status 500 - on Teaming 2.0
I have 2 user that can't login to Teaming 2.0. They get this error: "HTTP Status 500". Even if I enter a bogus password for them the "HTTP Status 500" error occurs. I use LDAP authentication to eDirectory. These users DON'T have duplicate objects in my tree. In eDirectory they have first name, last name, full name, phone number and email address entries. All other users can login. Where are the Apache Tomcat/6.0.18 logs on a SLES 10 install of Teaming 2.0? There are log files in /opt/novell/teaming/

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/6.0.18 logs. You need to be sure that it is not an LDAP problem... the best way is to start from LDAP to investigate. Enable the LDAP trace on eDir with imonitor, during the teaming login. Also you can use ldapsearch to have full details on the accounts in order to compare them with a working user (a space somewhere, an additional attribute, etc...).

Teaming Upgrade from 1.0.3 to 2.0
Hello,
I am trying to upgrade Teaming 1.0.3 to 2.0.
I am doing this in a test environment with our real environments data.
Old Environment:
Teaming 1.0.3
SLES 10 SP1 64 bit
MySQL 5.0.86-community (different server)
Sun JDK 1.5.0_12 32bit
New Environment:
Teaming 2.0
SLES 10 SP2 64 bit (XEN VM)
MySQL 5.0.88-community (same server)
Sun JDK 1.6.0_15 64 bit
I backed up the sitescape and lportal databases from the old env and restored them to the new mysql server. I also copied (tar files) the data directory (basic setup) and the install directory to the new environment. I modified the old installer.xml file and added the new hostname and database parameters. I started the installed and did the 'Update Software and Settings' option. The install finished successfully. I am attaching the installer log file here. I did let the installer update the database. I have not tried to update the database manually. I did use the 60 day trial license.
When I start teaming, I get the following error.

In Teaming 1.0.3, we have 90+ Teams and 440+ users. Starting from scratch is not a option :(. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.Hallo,
The probem is that the updating process forgot to add some entries into some tables. For ex.: zone information.
You could add them manually.

Problem when installing Teaming 2.0 on an new SLES11 system
hello,
I've just installed SLES11 on a new computer and after that, I've done a basic installation for Teaming 2.0 .
Evrything seems to be fine during installation process but it's impossible to connect with an HTTP 404 error message and The requested resource () is not available.
I've stopped teaming, cleaned the catalina.out file and even before attempting any connection here is the significant content :

Hi, I've installed teaming 2.1 on a sles11 x64 virtual machine. I've used sun java jdk 1.6.21. After install I start the teaming server but then can't access the web page (I've used port 8080 in the URL). I used default network settings. I believe the mysql database has been created correctly. I think the problem is with Tomcat/java. I've included the output of tail --f catalina.out

the path shown in the first line of this output is not what I specified for java during the installation of teaming (I used /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21). Any help would be greatly appreciated
LouHi Lou,
Have you set an environment var for the JAVA_HOME?
you can set it system wide, create or edit /etc/profile.local, and add:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21
Then reboot the system so the env var gets set globally.
If the site is still not accessible, rerun the Teaming install choosing to reconfigure, double check the JAVA_HOME path set and see if that does the trick.
Cheers,

HTTP 404 error page after configuring TEAMING 2.0
I have been through the entire manual for Novell Teaming and after installing it on both a SLES 10 and a Windows 2K3 server I am unable to login with a web browser. HTTP Status 404 -
type Status report
message
description: The requested resource () is not available.
Apache Tomcat/6.0.18
I have tried 3 versions of JAVA JDK starting with the version suggested in the manual.
1. jdk-1_5_0_17-linux-i586.rpm
2. jdk-1_5_0_14-nb-6_0-windows.exe
3. jdk-1_5_0_20-linux-i586.rpm
Again- all produce the same result.
Wondering if this is, indeed, a java problem, or a port problem.
Any thoughts? What Database type/version did you install?
Is the Database server running?
Under the /opt/novell/teaming/apache-somethingdir/logs directory, there is a catalina.out file.
This is the log file and it will tell you if Teaming has actually loaded or not.
Also, is there a section near the bottom of the installer.log file that says the database was installed?
Last, but not least, if you did a default install, when you type in the URL in your browser, are you added the :8080 at the end?

Hi there,
I have a problem with the ehcache I guess. As soon as I activate Clustered Configuration the main context is no more initializing. I dont know whats wrong ?
My configuration for the cluster is listed at the bottom of this entry. Hopefully someone can push me in the right direction where to have a look and perhaps what to double check.

Wow
I am NOWS SBE User
And we have not been forgotten about:) for one...
Its only a "Technology Preview" at present and does raise the issue with
NOWS SBE that even if you are using the 64bit version you will still need a
SLES 11 server to run it.
It warms you not to put this into production. But I guess I know what I will

Any body know - Video and Voice conferencing from Novell ?
Any body know - Video and Voice conferencing from Novell (product similar on the functional capabilities on Lync-server) ?
SergHello,
I do suppose you are talking about the Novell Teaming + Conferencing solution or products ....
Conferencing is gone ... As far as I know no future @ Novell...
Teaming is now Vibe ....
Stephan -
Hello.
My first idea is Novell add the capabilities of Novell Pulse and Novell Teaming on a new product named Novell Vibe. Guau, what pretty cool product i have with the capabilities of Teaming and the capabilites of Pulse
But two days ago, i saw y the have DIFFERENT products for the same PRODUCT NAME. They are causing a lot of confusion on my hand.
I Think its a BAD idea to put two different products with different funcionalitys with the same name.
The idea of sell the product on Cloud or OnPremise its a choice of the client, or the manner of sales a product. But to get two differentes products with the same name its a BAD idea.
If you want to offer one product , on the cloud or on promise, fantastic but, you can not putt a name with a different funcionality because you are adding confusion on what do you need and how do you get.
I Am seeking a forum for vibe, but i don t see any .
Regards
Victorvgalino,

Our Filr system stops syncing files about every 6-8 hours. It's a large deployment with 1 of each appliance at version 1.01. Restarting the Web Agent gets synchronization going again until it stops. Here are some log snips from ssf.log and catalina.out of our Web Agent:

Looks like it might be famtd that's crashing. If so, you'll want not
just HP1 which is publicly available but also FTF2 which installs on
top of HP1. You'll need to open an SR to get FTF2. There are a number
of fixes for famtd crashing in HP1 + FTF2.

www.the-networker.deI seem to have the same problem as Gerd.
Recent 3.4 installation updated to 4.0. My Vibe site is running but can only display content to guest. When you click login and submit credentials, the page displays a tomcat 500 error and no more vibe content.
appserver.log repeatedly shows errors in the LDAP user sync process and Gert's exact line:
2015-04-20 18:03:44,578 ERROR [http-bio-8443-exec-5] [com.novell.teaming.module.authentication.impl.Plus AuthenticationProviderModule] - Unable to configure authentication for zone 1: org.jasypt.exceptions.EncryptionOperationNotPossib leException
my installation then shows this next error in appserver.log:
2015-04-20 18:03:51,134 ERROR [http-bio-8443-exec-7] [com.novell.teaming.module.authentication.impl.Plus AuthenticationProviderModule] - Unable to rebuild providers for zone 1: org.jasypt.exceptions.EncryptionOperationNotPossib leException
Does anybody know a fix? JCE unlimited policies related maybe???
I'm on sles 11.3 x64 with Oracle JDK 7

Any ideas on how to fix this? I found a similiar post that suggested changing the ulimit, but the error that person received wasn't exactly the same......Originally Posted by mramaker

Marcel.
I have the same problem with Vibe OnPrem. I have installed it locally on SLES 11.
Every time - if I reboot the server - Vibe will be started. But after the login, you can`t come to the Workspaces. You will have "java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: localhost; nested exception is: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused" on the page.
The only thing, what you can do there, is coming as admin to the administration-page and working with all things there. The rest doesn`t do the job.
Tha`s the script of the system, which I can download there.

I just installed Kablink Teaming 2.1 on SLES11_X64 and can not view uploaded files. I get the following error.
HTML Conversion Error
Error: com.sun.star.connection.NoConnectException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
I checked and made sure I was pointing to the right place for fonts, and all my folders had correct rights. Everything looks good, and I can download the files, I just can't use the view feature.
Any help? There is information about WebDAV and edit-in-place using various
versions of Office on Windows 7 in the Novell Teaming 2.1 readme. You
might want to check that out, if you haven't already.
In terms of using Novell's OO edition for document conversion, it's my
experience that Novell's version of OO installed on Linux does not
contain all the features of OO regarding document conversion.
Specifically, the installation guide has a section entitled "Installing
OpenOffice.org as the Document Converter for Teaming" that talks about
when running the OO installer, to use the custom option and select ALL
optional components. Some of these components are additional conversion
handlers for OO that have not been included in the version of OO Novell
includes with Linux.
Having said that, you are correct in pointing out that the Stellent
converters used in Novell Teaming provide a much richer set of
converters than does OO used with Kablink Teaming. That's one of the
benefits of the Novell Teaming product vs. Kablink Teaming.
