Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06
This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11:
          Canon EOS-1D C
          Canon EOS Rebel SL1 / 100D / Kiss X7
          Canon EOS Rebel T5i / 700D / Kiss X7i
          Hasselblad Lunar
          Nikon COOLPIX A
          Nikon D7100
          Nikon 1 J3
          Nikon 1 S1
          Sony Alpha NEX-3N

Nah.  There will be a new camera announced in the next week and it will again be a crisis that Apple is not professional because they take more than 4 days to support a new camera
What about a camera released a year ago? Should I get at least a bit upset fo the lack of support? Hope wit will come out soon.

  • Unable to update to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03

This is probably an Apple Update issue, but is anyone else experieincing a greyed out Update button.  I restarted and the update button was available again.  Initieated download, but got no message about installing our any success in updating it, so for now it remains in my update available pane for several days.  Real pain!  Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?  Running Mavericks 10.9.1

What is your Aperture version? Is it compatible with the latest raw support? At least Aperture 9.4.5
Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?
Have you checked, if the update has actually been installed? You can see in the "About" panel the version of raw support that Aperture is using.
If the raw support has not been installed, try to download it from the Support page:
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1717
Sometimes you can recover unfinished downloads by using the menu item "Store > Check for unfinished downloads" in the App Store menu.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 and later can not be installed on OSX 10.6.8.

    Hi
I bought a new Canon EOS 5D mark 3 and noticed that my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8 can not handle the new raw files.
Searching google shown that I need Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 or later.
So I tried with 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14, but all failed during installation with error: "Dieses Update unterstützt nur Aperture 3 und iPhoto 9."
    Hmmm
    Checking iPhoto ...
About IPHOT shows "Iphoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)"
So I've updated Iphoto with version 9.2.1 (which I found matching my OSX after stepping down from highest version down ..... Apple is here not really supporting users here .......)
Unfortunately this is only an update.
So I need to install first a newer Iphoto version.
Iphoto 11 I can buy in the app store, but I can not install it on OS/X 10.6.8 .....
    Lost!
How do I get my raw files of 5Dm3 visible in OSX 10.6.8 ???????
    Any help welcome
    Thx
    Wolfgang

I maintain up to date my system, yet I have from time to time when I take RAW picture issues in iPhoto not reading them.  Today, looking for another issue I came across this update and I was hopping it would resolve my issues with the RAW photos from my Pentax K-30.
    The error:
    Installer quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the app again. Click Report to see more detail information and send to Apple.

This laptop cannot be upgraded further without hindering its performance.  Hence, I need to keep the version of iPhoto that I currently have.
    Thank you for your response.

  • Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 but when I connect my camera a message appears telling it's not compatible with the operating system?

Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 and when I have checked for software updates there are none available.  I've downloaded the Canon software, connected to my mac via the cable and followed the instructions in the manual.  Sadly I just get a message saying it's not compatible with the operating system.  I've tried inserting the memory card into the mac to and it doesn't seem to see it.  Can anyone help please?

Camera RAW ≠ Camera driver, the RAW update is for the .CR2 canon raw image file (in your case) compatibility.
What happens when you try to import photos using Image Capture or iPhoto?
Can you take a screenshot of the error message?
I always prefer and recommend using memory card import over using the camera.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01 for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11

    Check Software Update!
    Canon EOS M
    Canon PowerShot S110
    Nikon D600
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100
    Canon PowerShot G15
    Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
    Nikon 1 J2
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ200
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G5
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX7
    Sony Alpha NEX-F3
Those of you who have already imported "unsupported" photos into Aperture (i.e. Nikon D600) photos, simply choose Photos->Reprocess Original after installing this update (and restarting Aperture), and the photo will then show up.
Aperture Expert has a little summary too:
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2012/10/24/digital-camera-raw-compatibility-u pdate-401-for-aperture-3-a.html

I cannot fathom why a RAW update is not compatible with all versions of Aperture 3. This is forced redundancy in my opinion. Not happy...
I understand that this is annoying for you, but it is part of the redesign of MacOS to make it more efficient and not to waste disk space on redundant installations.
The recent raw update - as I see it - is an update to Mac OS X 10.8.x, not to Aperture. Since Mac OS X Lion Apple has started to migrate the raw support directly to the OS, so they do not need to install the raw support as update to many different applications. I have not checked yet - is this update included in Lion as well? I sincerely hope so.
Send feedback to Apple that you need this upgraded raw support also available in Snow Leopard.

  • Problem with Aperture 2 and Digital Camera Raw Compatability update 3.1

Has anyone using Aperture 2 experienced problems with the Digital Camera Raw Compatability update 3.1. It may be purely coincidence but, since downloading this on March 3, I get the dreaded red screen and unsupported image format on my previously downloaded and edited RAW photos. I use a Pentax k-7 with which, once set up, I have had no problems until now!
Please - any help would be very gratefully received

That probably explains why any checks that your computer did to see if the Camera Raw update was okay to apply didn't stop it. You should probably contact Apple and explain that they broke something that was working fine previously.
A few people have reported backing off Camera Raw 3.1 and going back to Camera Raw 3.0 for now. This note is one of the ones I've found describing how to do that, if you wish to try that. Or, you could head down the path Apple means to lead you on and upgrade to Aperture 3.

  • How do I reboot my MacBook Air? It says software is being installed; digital camera RAW compatibility and safari

I am trying to get rid of this "Installation Alert" window.  I tried to force quit all and reboot, but it says "Your computer can't be restarted now, because software is being installed."  Below that it says "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update and Safari are being installed.  Interrupting the install Amy damage your computer.  You can restart when the install is complete". It has a progress bar below showing it being 80% complete, but it just hangs there.  Now safari is going crazy.

Then try holding down the Power button for 5-10 seconds until your computer shuts down. Wait one minute then:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.7

Having trouble updating my MacBook.  The network crashed during my latest update, now whenever I try to update, it tells me "The update 'Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update' can't be saved.  A networking error has occurred:  Cannot open file (-3001).  Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again."  I am connected to the internet as I am posting this from said computer, and continually get the same error message.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

I expect the network error is because it is trying to use old connection data that is no longer relevant so i was looking to remove its reference so it could start afresh. It seems that location is not pertinent.
Good software should be able to recover from this error, but yours seems hung up on its past attempt.
I don't know how you can fix this. Maybe someone else knows. Sorry I could not help.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.2 - White Balance Temperature

Prior to downloading the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.2 I was importing RAW photos without a problem. Now all my photos are imported with a temperature of 2500K. I have a second computer on which this update hasn't been loaded and photos load with the proper temperature setting. When I load photos in Photoshop the temperature is indicated correctly. My DSLR is a fairly old Canon D60. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can downgrade to 2.1 as described in this post:
    Source:http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8142169#8142169
    Page Title: Apple - Support - Discussions - Can't import Canon RAW's (400D) to ...
    Date: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 7:26:47 PM
This might work (from Clem who figured it out):
Delete the file: System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle then (re)install the previous version.
    Get the previous version here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/digitalcamerarawcompatibilityupdate21.htm l
    Restart your computer.
Althought the fix was for correcting the problem of not being able to import at all it does give a means of downgrading to 2.1.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Camera not in list for Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.11

Do I need this update if my camera isn't in the list of supported cameras?

45 views and no replies? Isn't there anyone that can answer if I need this update or not or is my question not clear? Does anyone else have a similar question relating to  the Digital Camera Raw compatibility update 3.11?

  • How can "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.06 be removed so that 4.05 can be installed first?

App Store currently shows "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.05 as an update.  When attempting to update the following dialog box appears stating "An error has occured - The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)(-1012)
After searching found that the pkg files can be installed, However when trying to install 4.05 from a pkg file get the following dialog.
    Any ideas?
Is it possible to erase 4.06, then install both 4.05 & 4.06?
    many thanks
    John

after trying to install 4.05 via a pkg get a dialog stating "Alert - A newer version of Digital Camera RAW support is already installe on your system"...  Hence the question about removing 4.06.
Is there a version of the Digital Camera RAW that contains all updates, like a combo?

  • Is Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06 Affecting My Drivers?

After installing Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06 and booted in windows 7, I can hear the windows startup sound but there is no display. After rebooting using the last good know config, I was able to login into windows but my ethernet and bluetooth are not working. In the device manager,
Ethernet and bluetooth device status: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Maybe. I don't know. I was able to use my ethernet before the update. After the update, I am facing these driver issues. My ethernet adapter cannot be found in the list of network connections.

  • Uninstalling Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.2 (5.5MB)

I need to uninstall Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.2 (5.5MB) file from my computer. Any help as to how I can do that???

    Hi again...
Sorry not got a definitive answer for you, but I see no one else has responded yet... perhaps it cant be done..... I am fairly confident that there's no way you can remove a duff update through Time Machine...
Do you have a vault back up...? Vaults will restore all your images plus all the versions you created and every adjustment you have ever made... in short... everything.... you have ever done in Aperture....
    If not.... ouch...!
You might have to seek help from an Apple genius in your local Apple store...
Hopefully someone here will have an answer for you..
    Hoping..... Gerry...

  • Can't install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2

Software Update wants to install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2, but it always fails, saying: "The update “Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update” can’t be saved. You do not have appropriate access privileges. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder."
I've tried doing Repair Permissions in Disk Utility, but this has not helped. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5, all other recent updates have gone in fine.

I had the same problem. Deleting the contents of the HD/library/Updates worked.
Never the less I noticed that the permission set was different:
Original permission set: admin R&W, admin R only, everyone R only.
I also followed the Alias and found two files with the same permissions.
Re-downloading (via software update) revealed a new permission set:
(Me) R&W, Admin R&W, everyone Read only
In both the alias and the two files downloaded. Note that (Me) denotes your user with administrator access.
I believe that, since the update was downloaded automatically, the permissions were mismatched and instead of adding a system R&W privileges it added a second Admin Read only permission.
Adding an administrator user with read and write permissions should solve the problem (as long as you authenticate as that particular administrator when prompted for intall authorization).
    Regards, Jaime.
