I was most disappointed to find, however, that the letters I really wanted (Adobe Garamond Alternate Caps) is not in this collection and indeed, one now has to use another fancy designing program to construct those letters. I can’t afford to buy Photoshop just to construct two special capital letters. I’ve used the B and M in my logo for Balquhidder Music for years - but from jpgs - and I was hoping to have more flexibility in the future. I spent $169 to make sure I am in compliance. But I didn’t get anything of use to me.
I can’t understand why those Alternate Caps are not part of this - or any other package. I thought Adobe was capable of amazing things.
I assume I am whistling in the dark. So have a nice day.Actually, when Adobe moved from Type 1 fonts to OpenType CFF fonts, all the so-called “expert typefaces” were consolidated into the base fonts. In other words Adobe Garamond Pro Regular not only has the Western Latin characters of the original Type 1 version of Adobe Garamond, but also has alternate Latin capitals (with titling, titling floating accents, and stylistic alternates), alternate Latin lowercase (swash and superiors), Latin small capitals (alphabetic and floating accents), ligatures, multiple numeric forms (including lining tabular, lining proportional, oldstyle tabular, oldstyle proportional, superscripts, scientific inferior, numerator, denominator forms, fractions, mathematical operators, etc.) plus a raft of other special symbols.
OpenType fonts are Unicode-based and allow for more than the 256 characters in Type 1 fonts which required multiple typefaces all with mappings to a standard keyboard to accommodate all these glyphs.
Thus, hopefully your disappointment will turn to joy.
To assist you in understanding OpenType fonts and to show you what is in the current Adobe Garamond fonts, I have attached a few PDF files for your perusal.

Hello, everyone. Using VC++, I have gotten the handle of a *.exe(built by Labview), but I cannot get the button handle. I want to get the button handle and post the message to control the button. How can I do that? When I use the SPY++, the *.exe(built by Labview) have not any child windows which is very different from the *.exe(built by VC++). In SPY++, what is the LVDChild class? How can I send the message to control the button on *.exe(built by Labview)???
That is to send a command from a vc++.exe to LABVIEW.exe in order to control the button on the LABVIEW.exe. How can I get it ?

Checkout the LabVIEW ActiveX server interface in the User Manual in Chapter 20, Windows Connectivity and the VI Server Reference in Chapter 17, Programmatically Controlling VIs.
There is a sample for Visual Basic under examples/comm/VBtoLV.frm, which should be quite simple to translate to Visual C as long as you can figure out the basics of ActiveX programming in VC (I have never done anything with ActiveX in VC). For those basics I would recommend some text book or MSDN.

CS 6 Design and Web premium individual programs (not in use for some time) are now launching as trial versions since the advent of Adobe Cloud. Windows platform. I am sure I am one of about a million people with this issue, but having trouble getting specific suppport, no telephone numbers and installing this suite of programs was a nightmare....appreciative of any help today!
Thank you for your time and patience today. Your link for support takes me to Adobe Support Help "Hell" which is nothing more than a circular loop of links that do not address this situation. It is not a CS6 issue; it is not a specific software issue, none of the links address this situation which is an ADOBE issue...created by the Adobe Cloud process, not by me.
The "serial number is not valid" link I have already explored and their wonderful solutions do not apply and their suggestion to reinstall my software is the ABSOLUTELY LAST THING THE WORLD I will ever do after my initial experience with the original post-antipiracy measures installation. I understand antipiracy actions, but Adobe's response is out of control and not working for those of us who have honestly purchased the software. I did not create this issue, Adobe did. They should provide a telephone number with a live body to fix this issue for those of us affected. BTW I have been trying to resolve this on my own for one week before I even posted in this forum. Again I appreciate your responses, but they are not resolving my issue. -
Once running the labview program which contain DAQ Assistant and can be run without any error before, the message box of "ERROR-50405....." appear which capture down in the attachment. We use PCI6221 and LabVIEW 8.0 in Windows XP. I also found that the Device Manager of Window have recognized the PCI6221.
Any help on this situation would be great.

This error is due to signal interference between the device and the computer. This could be environmental or due to the PCI Controller. You can on a different computer to see whether this problem persists. -
I'm using an apple mac with lion 10.7.5 loaded. I need to load snow leopard to use a film editing program. Can I load snow leopard without removing Lion?
If so are there any problems doing it?You need and external drive to make a clone of your current installation of OS X. Then you can use DIsk Utility (Apps/Utilities) to divide the internal drive into two partitions. Doing so will erase the drive, which is why you need the clone so you don't loose everything. Then copy the clone to one partition to restore everything and use a Snow DVD to install it on the 2nd partition.

Using multiple events structure inside state machine to control the Tab
Hi y'all,
Anne here.I have a Tab indicator in my front panel and I want to be able to control the flow of my program based on what controls I clicked inside the tab. I am using a state machine architecture and inside every state, I use an event structure to check for user interaction to determine the next state and what tab page is going to be displayed next. This means that I am actually using multiple event structures in my application and I use them in just one while loop, but just that they are not running in parallel since I am only using "one event structure per state" which means that only one event structure is running at one time. My questions is, programming technique wise, am I doing it correctly? So far, I am not facing any problem (I am still in the early stage of the project) but I want to check with you all first on your opinion regarding this architecture. Will there be any issue on using multiple event structures in a vi? Since I will be using a tab, and the controls available in the tab will be the controls that will control my event structure for that state, by right, there should be no issue. Am I correct to assume this? Is there any limit on the use of event structures? I have attached here a simple sample of the architecture that I am talking about for your reference. I have attached a 2010 version and a 8.6 version. Let me know what you think or any opinions that you may have.

I decided to use tabs cause I don't want to have subvi pop ups every time i need to perform the process in the state and show an update in the front panel. This is actually going to be more of an ATE where you will have to choose first whether the one using is the operator or the engineer. If the operator is logged in, she will proceed to choose what test to run (this state will have its own event structure). This part, I don't want a pop up, so what happens is that from Login page, if the user logs in as operator, the tab will automatically switch to the Test Selection page. After selecting the test, it will proceed to Start Test state and the tab will show the Result Summary page. If the user logs in as engineer, then a totally different tab will be automatically shown next and so on. By doing this, I will be able to show an update on the front panel objects without having the subvis pop up. I will also just need to use the call reference functions to call my subvis, making my Main VI more generic. The tab Page header will be hidden so the operator will actually not see that there is a tab and that there are a lot of controls and indicators cause they are hidden in the tabs and that page will only be shown based on what they selected from the main tab.

Problem CS6 unable to use CS5 as default program now

I installed the CS6 beta
I can not use CS6 to open files for 5diii ( I know this allready )
So i try to go back to CS5 to open th cr2 file, this is not as easy as it sounds,
1 go to Brige 5 open cr2 file goes to CS6 so it can not open
2 right click use open with, cant use there is no choice to open with CS5
3 go to file in windows explorer right click/open with/ browse/ choose CS5 and it still tries to open in CS6 ( which it wont as its a 5diii file )
4 Only way it will work is to open CS5 fist then use file/menu/open pick the file you want to open and it will open that way in CS5.
5 I Uninstalled CS6 beta for now untill there is support for 5diii.

I have installed the CS6 Beta as a separate installation (I hoped).
Now when I start Bridge CS5 I can use the features of that version of Bridge until I attempt to open images to touchup in Camera Raw. When I double click an image it opens in Camera Raw 7, and any further editing seems to being done by PS 6. I have issues with Camera Raw 7 but I'll discuss those elsewhere.
To force Bridge CS5 to use Camera Raw 6 (the interface of which I prefer at this point), right click the image and choose "Open With..." choose Photoshop CS5 from the choices that pop up and the image will open in the earlier version of Camera Raw. Don't choose the right click option of "Open in Camera Raw..." That will open the image for editing in Camera Raw 7.
Perhaps all this works the same in Windows? -
I've been using a website to sync music and videos straight from YouTube to my computer and importing them into iTunes (which I know isn't good, but I like some music that is hard to find) and it has worked just fine up until now. I just updated both my iTunes and iPhone operating systems so they are just fine but I was wondering if the update was the problem. Can anyone help or has anyone else experienced these issues?

If the "it" refers to a compressed (zipped) spreadsheet that you downloaded, the ".ods" extension is used by LibreOffice and probably OpenOffice (which are free versions of MS Office) for spreadsheets, which would suggest that wherever you're getting that "Excel" file from has switched to one of those programs. I've tried opening an .ods file from LibreOffice using MS Office 2013 for Windows and it does open though with a warning that some things have been changed. I don't know if Office for Mac can normally open .ods files. But if your need is to just open .ods files, take a look at LibreOffice. -
New Email password not recognised.
One of my accounts is a btinternet address, and I've now got that setup with their new settings (so not the old yahoo settings), so my outgoing server is now listed as mail.btinternet.com and with that the settings are not greyed out.

I have tried to use Pages on my other computer, but not having time to deal with the differences between Pages and Word, I went back to using Word. I'm not sure what word processing program to load on to this new computer. Any ideas?

You are unfortunately out of luck with an Intel Mac and OS X 10.4.11<br />
Best would be to update to OS X 10.5 or later if you want to use Firefox 4 and later versions (current is 8.0).<br />
There is a Firefox 8 compatible third-party version TenFourFox from www.floodgap.com for a PowerPC Mac, but no alternative for an Intel Mac with Mac OS X 10.4.<br /> -

Labview : No USB communication with the DLN-2 adapter board.
Hi,
I am trying to use a Diolan DL2-N USB to I2C/SPI/GPIO adapter (https://diolan.com/dln2). This manufacturer provides Labview drivers for the board as well as example VIs. I just want to use them to access to all interfaces via Labview. After that I will design a test setup for our last product line using this adapter board.
What i did:
1) Fresh install of Labview 2014 (evaluaton version). System: DELL Precision M6800 (i7) , Windows 7 Professional SP1.
2) Install NI VISA drivers and NI-488.2 drivers (14.0).
3) Install manufacturer drivers as explained in NI website.
4) Run Labview. I can see instrument driver VIs under the Function Palette and run example VIs. So far, ok (I guess)
5) Run NI MAX. No USB ports listed. Only COM1 and LPT1 (printer port).
6) I ran some windows test apps provided by the manufacturer to access to all the interfaces of the NXP microcontroller in the DLN2. Everything works. I can read analog/digital inputs, force digital out values and use the SPI and I2C (I see the SPI/I2C frame sin a scope).
I have spent one day going through different links in NI website (have watcheing almost every demo video on the site) and still are not able to guess why Labview can't see my USB device.
Any hint?

I' m putting pressure on the manufacturer to provide support, but still I have some very basic questions that I think a Labview expert should be able to answer.
Attached are the driver files provided by the manufacturer along with install instructions (which I do not fully understand). I assume the iinstall description is based on a standard procedure to install third party instrument drivers , but still don't know what to do with the dln.net.dll file (I just copied it in the /Labview 2014/instr folder). Any hint?
The manufacturer website says that the driver has been developed for Labview 2012 . I' m using Labview 2014, and assuming backward compatibility. Is that correct?.
One more question: Is there a way of seeing within Labview which third party instrument drivers do you have installed?

I have been a VC++ developer for sometime now.
I am investigating the viability of developing s/w for Solaris.
Java seems a reasonable attempt at a development language , however I would like to know what is happening in the development world with C++/Solaris?
Can any one tell me what c++ dev api's exist for Solaris?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Keep in mind that small businesses employe most people. And small businesses are more likely to use windows. So if you like small shops then stick with windows. OS choice and language choice are two different things though.

Many types. Device drivers. All embedded work (tvs, refrigerators, cars, etc.) OS kernels. Intensive number crunching. Encryption - any small problem domain were performance of the language can make a difference.
There are still many shops that still only use C++. And they will continue to do so for new products. There is a vast amount of legacy code that must be maintained and added to. None of that is going to go away.
