Now I know why people hate Fios Cust Service

My family and I rushed home from our weekend to come home and watch the Wrestling PPV.  I tried to order it via remote control and it says I'm not authorized to purchase. So I call the support line 50 minutes of holding, I try doing on-line chat. That says my wait time is 20 minutes. So I call on my cell, while still one hold on the landline.  Someone answers it within 5 minutes. AREN'T Calls answered in order they are received? What is up with that?
Then, they CS Rep says that my limit on my box for rents/PPV has been exceeded. Now I've only been a customer since Dec. I've ordered one PPV for $4.99.. The guy tells me the limit is 150/mo. Ok, so how did I EXCEED it?? Needless to say my 6 year old (and I) are heartbroken because we can't watch it. He says it will take until midnight for the "reset" to happen, and I can reorder it tomorrow.
NOT ACCEPTIBLE Fios... Not even close.  Plus, It took 2 months to resolve an issue with my Verizonwireless account too. What is happening Verizon?  Lots of layoffs, lack of service, and a lot of run around.  For a company that could have it all, you're driving away customers left and right. I am very disappointed. Sometimes it's not worth the money you save if you can't get any help.

I agree completely.  I switched from Comcast and regret the move.  When I had problems w/ Comcast, I could easily get through to a live person.  Verizon puts you through way too many questions on the phone before telling you to hang on for an endless amount of time to speak with a real person.  I am constantly kicked off the internet and have to sign back in.   When I try to delete e-mails from my inbox, I get this box that says "undefined."  I click the boxes next to the e-mail I want to delete and it still says "undefined."   I have to go to the homepage and then back to the inbox to delete the e-mails. 
On my television, I will have commercials cut off mid stream and move to another one.  Or one commercial will play 2-3 times in a row. 
Never had these issues w/ Comcast.   I regret the move.

  • Now I know why my flash photos are so bad!

    Hopefully this isn't going to make me look like a complete dummy. I thought it worth posting as I haven't seen anyone else mention this issue...
    Since getting my iPhone 4 I have been very disappointed with the quality of all of my photos taken with the flash. Regardless of the distance of the subject all the photos have come out very washed-out. I don't have the protective plastic on the back of the phone, and I was getting the same results with and without my case on. Despite the overall improvements I saw in my photos with iOS 4.1, flash photos were still really bad.
    The penny has just dropped! When I take landscape photos with my iPhone 4 (camera button to the right, lens and flash to the left) I hold the phone in both hands with my fingertips. Because the phone is so slim a fair amount of my left palm sits forward of the left-hand edge of the phone. It doesn't appear in the photos, however there is obviously enough there to reflect a substantial amount of the flash. Holding the phone in my right hand and using my left hand to tap the on-screen button has resulted in dramatically better results.
    This is so obvious now I've realised what the problem was that I can't believe I haven't worked it out before now. I thought it worth posting here anyway - just in case anyone else is doing the same thing.
    Now all I have to do is work out why I get so much noise in photos taken under artificial lighting...

    As a Photographer the term "artificial lighting" means bad or poor lighting. While the human eye is quite capable of adjusting for almost any lighting condition, the "dumb" sensor in your phone camera is nowhere near as capable. While I am not sure that the iphone camera uses variable ISO for it's sensor, I would be surprised if it doesn't. ISO simply refers to the sensitivity of the camera sensor, which sensitivity is raised for low light shots. Prosumer cameras have the ability to take low light shots with a higher ISO to some extent, and professional digital cameras even moreso (professional in the Nikon world meaning $2500 US and above). Making the sensor more sensitive causes noise, and in a low end camera without flash, that noise will be more readily apparent.

    ok - I've been using OSX 10.0 (and Macs since the late 1980s) and never had a problem upgrading via combo updaters, remember those?
    10.9 has been the worst of the lot, from various problems with Server 3 which has left me unhappy with 10.9, I now have a couple of other major problems with 10.9, namely:
    I now discover that 10.9 Time Machine is corrupting the keys on a 4TB Seagate Drive, twice now. So it mounts as read only. I have to boot up Linux to fix the disk, as Disk Utility can't.
    Applications unable to get foreground focus, including iTunes. A reboot is the only answer.
    oh, and before you all Apple apologists, excuse-makers come on here, just look at the recent accouncement from WD regarding Mavericks.
    Not happy, not impressed. If its going to be free, Linux may be the better option here as paying extra for Apple hardware is now costing me time, which is worth more than anything else.

    Combo's are still avaialable from http://support.apple.com/downloads/

    Mac's will run Linux.  Or just go back to ML.

    It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
    You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes)

    The beeps could be caused by something as simple as a loose internal wire or connection.  If it is under warranty (not sure how long that is, as WD drives range from 1 to 5 years depending on the model's series - I think "my passport" drives are 3 years) you could contact WD and ask them about it.
    If it is out of warranty, you could also try opening the case and check the connections - the drive may be fine, and there have been posts on TomsHardware forums of people getting the beeps, opening up the case and the drive is fine, just some wire worked loose.

    Apple supports most of their computer products for a 7 year period, could be that your IBook is well past any kind of help.Secondly parts are no longer being made for this machine and never will be again. Finally I find it hard to believe that nothing has been done with this for 6 years.Have you documented the reasons why you were turned down for repairs ? were the replaced Ibooks within a couple of months of warranty expiration? What model is your IBook ? At least if we knew what the model #, some of the more techy types could find out if there were any repair programs for your model.
    Seems odd that you'd hang on to a non-working IBook for that long.

    "Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
    In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
    Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
    In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
    That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

    When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
    See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.

    This has nothing to do with Apple, as Apple does not make the apps.
    This is the decision of the app maker.
    Contact those app makers and ask them why they do this.

    I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question.  Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing.  I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
    My playlists "ARE"  in my iphone 4s.  They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer. 
    When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes.  I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes:  Music, Movies, TV shows, books.  That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS"  but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone.  Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
    Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this.  I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
    You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
    If you are still having problems try a restore.
