Now I see Now I don't the NAS on the network

I was having the following problem that needed some help and advice.
I was able to access the NAS via the PC for all these while. However, the PC didn't detect it this morning.
The following actions yield no result:
1. Restart the PC.
2. Off and On the PC.
3. Rebooted the NAS via the PC.
4. Rebooted the NAS at the Server.
5. Rebooted the Linksys via the PC.
6. Pulled off the power cable and reinstate it back.
I have a QNAP NAS and a EA2700.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

Router and Wired Configurations
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives. Or set up a Static IP address ON the NAS only and see how that works. If you use a Static IP address be sure to set up out side the default router DHCP IP address pool (192.168.1.100 thru .200). So try setting the NAS IP address to 192.168.1.27 for example.
PC 3rd Party Security Software Configurations
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on the PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
For best performance and accessibililty, Its recommended to install a external Gb network switch after the router. Connect the PC and NAS to the switch. This helps eliminate un-nessessary router processing and gives best performance while still giving internet access.

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

  • Can't see other Macs/PCs on the network...

Since installing the Safari 6/Apple Remote Desktop Update I can't see other Macs/PCs on the network. If I restart I can see 2 Macs, but after a while they disappear, and I can see/connect to nothing...

If you are using DHCP check that it is getting the correct addressing. In the event that it is but still not working then test by giving it a fixed IP and see if it then works.

  • Help...Now you see it.. Now you don't the amazing ...

so here is the strange a wonderful tale of my Fibre order..
We live in a **bleep** speed area, we have 4 kids who like to stream...after checking month after month and seeing fibre is not here yet, it was like a jubilee year when finally the message came that infinity was availible.  So with better speeds we looked to switch to Phone,TV, and unlimited Infinity.
Went through the forms and ordered all, Picked a delivery date of the 15th of April and had letters from BT confrming the order and from Sky letting us know that they have relinquished responsibility and passed the baton to BT from the 15th.
Now we have just got a text telling us there is a problem and an UPDATE ..yes UPDATE will not be avalible until the 16th of April !!.  As you can imagine I felt like shrek duped by ruplestltskin. I check on BT.com and guess what Infinity is not availible and may be sometime between April and May 14... just like it would be in Nov 13..Dec 13.
So now I will have no TV as Sky TV ends as I switched to BT, No Broadband, possibly Phone so maybe the kids can randomly call strangers to pass the time whilst not being able to revise homework or unwind with a movie.
I cannot believe that BT can take an order and liaise with my old provider to cancel the contract when they cannot deliver what I have ordered.  I checked Opem reach and my exchange is taking Fibre order so I am damm confused and a little upset.

  • My phone locked and i keyed in the number to release it, but it needs now a password for the network how do i find this

my phone froze, so i restarted it with the pin number, but now it needs further info and needs a password for the network . how do I retrieve this password?

In needs a password for WHAT network? If you're talking about a WiFi network, you'll have to ask whoever owns the network. We have no way of knowing.

  • IPad 2 wifi not working.  Was working fine, now won't find the network.  Any suggestions?

Help!  Bought an iPad 2 for my mother, brought it to Scotland (from Chicago); initially worked fine.  Wifi suddenly stopped working.  Wn't find the network.  My iPad 2 has no problems.  Reset the network settings, did a hard restart, reset all settings, rebooted the router.  Nothing's working.  I'm returning to the U.S. In four days.  Any help would be most appreciated.

    Patrick-
Did your "hard restart" involve holding both buttons until the Apple logo appeared?
Are you sure that Airplane Mode is OFF?
The solution may be to swap iPads and leave the good one with your Mother.  If you erase all content and settings on both, you can restore the good one from your Mother's computer.
When you get home you can do the same with the problem iPad and your computer.  If you haven't sorted it out by then, take it to the Apple Store Genius.

  • Pinging a printer to see if it works over the network

I've been printing from a Windows 7 computer to a PSC C6180 over a wireless network.  All of a sudden it stopped printing.  I don't if a power surge or something blew some stuff out (the fax part is already gone) or if it is something else.
I removed the printer and removed the installed software in order to put it back in its "initial state."
Before I removed the software, I tried to add a network printer to see if that would do it.   At the point in the process where it looks for printers, it didn't find it.  It makes me wonder if it will work over the network at all, but I do note the blue 802.11g LED is lit.
Before I reinstall the software (AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW.130_140.exe is what I have) I want to ping the printer and see if the computer can see it.  What's the ping address?

    Hello ErnieLane,
Please follow steps 1-4 described in Access the Embedded Web Server to print a configuration page, it will contain the current IP address (if any).
    Hope this will help.

Hi again. Ive discovered how to solve the problem! Its the Norton Internet security thats causes the problem.
Just open the program, right click at the icon down at right, click at "Norton Protection Center"
Click on the "Norton Internet Cecurity", Wirewall settings, Commin Settings, Common Rules, Configurate,
Scroll down to "Standard-Block filesharing in Windows" Mark and "Modify", Mark the option "Allow" Save and go!
If You have understand what Ive written it should be working, the thing is that I have Swedish versions of all the software
so it might be a littel hard to understand the translation that Ive done. Try to use it and look for the most likness of my poor English.

  • Trying to see new windows computer on the network.. but I cant. Help?

I can see the old windows PC on the network just fine. I open up a finder window, click on Network in the upper left hand, and in there click on "Charter" whatever that is (its actually our ISP but I dont know why its in there) and I see the other PC. Both PC's are running WinXP. This Mac is running 10.3.9. I cant figure it out. Any thoughts? Thanks,
    Chris

If you want to see the Network, you need to go into Finder->Preferences, select the sidebar tab and then make sure there is a checkbox next to Computer at the top of the list. After you enable this, your computer's name will show on the sidebar and you should be able to get the Network listing from within there.
I found that I had to turn off the Leopard firewall in order to be able to see machines on the local network. I had previously put it into stealth mode.

  • How do I stop the Finder from seeing SMB (Windows) shares on the network?

I have the OPPOSITE problem most people have -- Windows Sharing works TOO WELL.
I've donated a refurbished eMac to the local homeless shelter. I figured I'd made the system secure, and prevented any monkey business. Turns out the windows machines on the network are COMPLETELY insecure (guest access to everything is enabled). The problem is that the Mac is TOO friendly -- it automatically connects to the server as a guest, and happily presents everything to the user.
I've tried a dozen different things (I've removed the 'Shared' section from the sidebar in the Finder windows (Go->Network is still there, Doh.), tried to turn off File Sharing, and even disabled the mount_smbfs command in the /sbin directory with "chmod 0 mount_smbfs".)
I've asked the folks there to call in a PC tech and fix their security problem -- but it's a good question to which I've found no suitable answer... How to I stop the Mac from connecting to SMB Shares on the local network?
    Thanks.
    -JD.

Same problem, keep getting a pop up with connection failed you do not have permission to access the server. The server is a windows 7 box, Starting happening after an up grade to windows 7. Nowhere can I find how to stop trying to connect. I am sure its at the unix level of samba but what to do is another question

  • HT4356 Has anyone else found that after ios7 download, my HP 5520 AirPrint printer is now listed with all the networks that my ipad  can see. This means that I have to change networks to the printer in order to print.

After downloading ios7 my printer occurs in the list of wifi networks. In order to print I have to go to settings and "join" the HP 5520 network. Then, when I am finished, I have to return and re-join my router's network.

    Hi Newent1,
Under a normal Airprint configuration, the printer should be joined to your primary wireless network as a client. That way, you should not have to switch networks to print (print data goes from iPad => router => printer). If something has changed in your configuration, you may need to set your printer back up to rejoin your network. You may find the troubleshooting portion of the following article helpful:

Make sure you have at least iTunes 10.3.1, then go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the new Purchases link under the Quick Links. The new iTunes in the Cloud service may allow you to re-download your purchased content (music, videos and TV shows not available for re-downloading in all countries at this time; movies and audiobooks not available for re-downloading at all yet). You can also do this from an iOS device.

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • Can't See My PC On The Network

I believe I've set up my local network just fine, but I can't see my desktop PC in the network.
The PC can see the Mac, but the PC won't show up on the network listing.
I'm sorry I'm vague about this, but I really don't know what I did wrong. Maybe someone can guide me?
    Help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

What's the IP addresses (on the local net) for both machines? Does the Windows machine have file sharing turned on? Which OS is on it, XP Home, XP Pro, Vista, something else?
