Now my music is missing from iTunes...please help

OK, for today's fun and games: I synced this morning like I always do, but all the music in my iTunes library on PC is missing. After syncing, it still appears on my phone though. I went into the music tab in iTunes with my phone plugged in and for some reason, the "sync music" option is unchecked (no idea why it is unchecked). I am afraid to check it because it says it will replace all the music on my phone with what's in my iT library which currently appears to be nothing! Where did the music on my PC go and how can I get it back!?
Thanks

Well all my music is on my hard drive in its various original locations.
Thanks a lot Apple! I really appreciate having to REIMPORT, Re-link, and get album artwork FROM SCRATCH all over again. Kind of p!ssed off right now.

Our podcast icon is missing from our Feed. Please can someone help us figure out what could be causing this.

Please can someone be in touch to let me know.

The image is correctly referenced in the feed, is the correct dimensions and within the 500kB file size limit, so you've done your part correctly.
The iTunes Store can be flaky about images: it's not that unusual for a new image to take quite a long time to appear, or for an existing one to disappear for a time. I'm afraid there isn't really much you can do about it except wait for the Store to get its act together.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I'm afraid you are likely to get a form response telling you how to provide an image, which you already know.

  • Please help.  Music files missing from itunes and computer!

I know that this isn't exactly a new issue, but I have scanned the discussions and nothing that I have read seems to help. My son has a nano (4th gen). He isn't sure but he thinks that maybe he disconnected his ipod before a sync was complete or something because all the music was deleted from it. He's not positive that's what happened but that's his best guess. No problem -- thought we'd just pull songs over again to it from our library. However, when we try to do this, on about 50% of the songs he wants (all were purchased, not from CDs) there are exclamation points next to the songs when we try to drag them and it says the file can't be found. I have looked in the itunes library on our computer and while I can find the libraries, they also don't have these specific songs we are looking for. I've tried to search and I just come up empty. Is there anything we can do beside buy the songs again? There are about 16 songs or so. A couple of them I have on my itouch. Could I somehow transfer the couple of songs to the computer? And would that work to get them to his ipod? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

+It appeared to do that as there are now duplicates in our library, but when I tried to drag the new song to the ipod, that darn exclamation appeared again and the song wouldn't transfer.+
It's easy to get rid of the duplicates. iTunes menu > View > View Options
Check the Date Added box, then click on the column name Date Added twice. Eveything you added to day will be at the top.
Then click File > Show Duplicates and only delte the one from today.
Do NOT delete both duplicates, or the song will be entirely gone.
As for dragging songs to the ipod, it has to be set for "manually manage music" for that to work. I don't understand about the exclamation point showing up again, unless you were dragging the 'old' reference that got deleted. Tyr dragging over the copy from today.

  • Some of my music is missing from iTunes Match and I can't add it manually.

I seem to have remembered being able to manually add any new music I got to the cloud by simply right clicking on an album or a song in iTunes. Now it seems as if that doesn't work anymore. I just got some new music and it's not showing up in my iPhone or iPad. Please help.

The issue lies with the info in each song/album. Since iTunes match tries to match your library with songs from their own library, the info in each album needs to show the specified artist and song names so iTunes Match can recognize it. (see this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17055402#17055402)
That solved my issue. I changed the album artist to be the artist name only and re-logged in to iTunes Match, then checked my phone and it was there.
    Thanks.

  • I had to install a new operating system and now my music is gone from iTunes

My MacBook Pro crashed the other day and I had to reinstall Yosemite.  Now when I go to iTunes library most of my music is missing.  I have a lot of it on my iPhone but it won't transfer back to my computer.  How do I retrieve thousands of songs?

Use your Time Machine backup if you have one.
Your can also recover your iTunes Store Purchases from the iTunes Store in the "Purchased" Tab on the right.
You can't get your music from the iPhone to the Mac, unless you use 3rd party software.

  • Switched from Podpress to Powerpress and now feed is not updating in iTunes - Please help

    Please help...at my wit's end!
A few days ago I switched from using Podpress to Powerpress for my podcast. I followed all instructions and my feed appears to be valid. However, my podcast is not updating in iTunes at all and when I tried to resubscribe, I got an error message that said that there are no playable episodes.
Please, please...someone help. I really don't know what else to do and trying to get support from Apple or Blubrry has been fruitless.
    My feed is: http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/
    Thank you!

    Hi Roger,
Well, I was unable to locate the old feed (I don't even know if it exists in the conventional way, since it was set up by Podpress), and attempted to remove my podcast completely from iTunes in order to start fresh. Unfortunately, it appears as though iTunes no longer does this and instead directs you to add a <block> tag to your feed....and around we go.
So I've pleaded via Express Lane to please, please have someone change my feed to the new http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/ ...that old feed should have never been set up that way in the first place. Argh.
Question: Can I resubmit my podcast to iTunes without deleting the old one? I'd hate to do that...seems tacky...but I have no idea what else to do if the pleading doesn't work.
Thank you again - you've been so helpful!

  • Changed countries, but I still can't music and videos from iTunes. Help!

I moved from Jamaica to Canada. I changed all of the account information and added a new credit card. My problem now is that iTunes itself won't update on my iPad. I don't have the option to purchase music or videos. I can still only access Podcasts and iTunes U, as those were only available in Jamaica.
How can I get the other options available? Please help. I wanna rock!

Go to iTunes and tap on the Music tab. Swipe down to the bottom left corner of that screen and you can access your ID. Tap on it and then tap View Apple ID. Enter your password. Then go down to County/Region and change that to Canada and then save the changes.
Hopefull that will work and you will be able to "rock".

  • Music has vanished from itunes! Help!

I just logged into my itunes to discover that about two thirds of my music has gone! Including stuff i uploaded personally from cds. Can anyone please help me find it or do i have to start from scratch? I'm pretty hopeless with computers, please help!

tony.... me too! only it happened about 2 weeks ago....I got a new computer. Now my itunes Library only shows albums I have bought from Itunes Store. It used to list my entire library song by song. Now I have album covers and no song list. I bought a new album from Itunes since I have had the new computer, and plugged in my Ipod to transfer it to the Ipod. It didn't accept the new album, but luckily it also did not erase all the songs on my Ipod.I am afraid to plug in the Ipod now as it might eat all my existing songs. Most of them were from CD's. It takes hours to download all those CD, I hate to do it again.

  • My music is missing!! please help!!

i didnt use my ipod for 1 week. and when i did use it again. all the songs were missing from my ipod. i cant use itunes to restore everything because all the songs were deleted. and i havnt connected my ipod anywhere it was left sitting. how can i get my music back?

The same thing happened to me. I emailed itunes and they redownloaded all my purchased music for me. They did warn me that they could only do that for me one time though. That is why I am sitting here right now saving all my purchased music to blank cd's.

  • Desired backup lost/missing from list, please help!

    Hello there,
I've gone through a lot of topics but can't seem to find the exact same situation as mine. Please forgive me if I'm duplicating.
I have been using an iPhone 3G with iOS 4 and I wanted to downgrade it back to 3.1.3. Because I know that the iPhone 4 will be released where I live in a week's time, what I wanted to do was to do a backup, so that my SMS'es and other data can be saved from today till the day I get my iPhone 4.
I understand that if I go back to 3.1.3, I won't be able to restore any backups that I've done since I upgraded to iOS 4.
    Here's what happened today.
    5:21PM
I synced my iPhone 3G and just to make sure, I also right-clicked on my iPhone 3G and performed a backup
    5:23PM
    The backup completed
So I downgraded my iPhone 3G using the method from this site.
    http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5D-from-ios-4- to-ios-313
All went well. At the point where I was asked to 'Setup as a new iPhone' or 'Restore from the backup of XXX', I simply unplugged the iPhone (because I had to go out for dinner).
So the iPhone was working with 3.1.3 just fine.
Came back around 8PM, plugged my iPhone to my MacBook and iTunes showed the same screen, asking me to 'Setup as a new iPhone' or 'Restore from the backup of XXX'.
    8:06PM
So, I thought, I should select 'Setup as a new iPhone', clicked on it, then nightmare! Because I remembered seeing from somewhere that the latest sync (in this case setting up a new iPhone) will automatically erase the latest backup.
    8:07PM
The set up on a new iPhone was completed. I quickly checked iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Backup to see if the latest backup I wanted to keep was there or not. And indeed the 5:21PM back was wiped.
    Now showing the following backups
    iPhone 3G - 23/07/2010 8:50 PM
iPhone 3G Test (this is the one where I was mucking around with the files and changing the log)
    XXX's iPhone 3G - 01/06/2010 1:31 PM
    XXX's iPhone 3G - 23/06/2010 7:55 AM
    XXX's iPhone 3G - Jul 18, 2010 8:26 PM
    XXX's iPhone 3G - Jun 24, 2010 5:37 AM
I really should have made a copy of that backup from 5:21PM and kept it somewhere before clicking on 'Setup as a new iPhone'. But it's already too late.
Can anyone please help me restore my backup that was created in the first place (the one at 5:21PM)? I'm willing to go back to iOS 4 for this matter. If it would help for me to post any screen shots of the folders and files, please let me know. I'll upload them somewhere and post the links in later replies. Because I've upgraded it since it was released, there's too much data to lose, especially my SMS'es. Please help~ Thank you so much in advance!
    Best regards,

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, enter /Volumes/ as the path, and move the extra folders out of it. If you then need to consolidate the libraries, use this iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/
It is important to try to set your external drive up so it does not accidently get unplugged while you are using it - that can corrupt your database

  • Burning songs from itunes Please Help !! Help help Help!!

Is there a way i can burn songs right from itunes onto a jump drive ?!
    please help me
or could i compress them when i burn them onto itunes so i could fit like more then 20 songs on a disk?!

You should just be able to drag and drop the songs from iTunes to the flash drive.
Unless your songs are in a lossless format (Apple lossless, AIFF, .wav), they are already compressed. You could always convert them to a lower bit rate (downsample) but you would lose sound quality.

  • Music continually missing from iTunes

I have been having trouble with my Windows 7 Home 64 bit and iTunes. I load in all my music folders, they stay there a few times after opening. I set up all the playlists and then several times opening iTunes they disappear. I reload and set up the playlists and they disappear. I redid my computer and started fresh, even bought a new iPod touch yesterday and still they disappear. Now it happening every time I open iTunes, what gives. I have read and tried everything I can find on the web, but yet no help....
    Terry

happened to me on the morning of 30th september. booted up, opened iTunes and iTunes told me it had to repair something and created a 'iTunes library (damaged)'. all playlists gone and the last couple of hundred songs I loaded. the music was luckily still there and with a folder import I got all that stuff (plus some unwanted duplicates I had chucked out or renamed). so far nobody could help (for free - I'm not buying dodgy software that promises to fix everything). I'm in the middle of rebuilding my playlists from my iPod. Sorry. Can't help. But let me know if somebody has an inkling. Volker.
