Now on Firefox 5, cannot change printer prefferences, get "exemption code 0xc0000005", then Firefox crashes!
I've already allowed the tech at Lexmark have access to my computer, checked everything, deleted and re-loaded everything, still will not allow "properties" changing , just get that "exemption code" junk! They INSIST it's my browser. Doesn't surprise me at all. Had multiple printer problems after Firefox 4 "upgrade", took a bit, but was working again. Now, no method of previous "fixes" are fixing this problem!

That wasn't what I meant, sorry if I didn't made myself clear. I used
TERM=rxvt-unicode-256color command man -Pcat urxvt | sed -n '/depth: b/,/^BA/p'|sed '$d'|sed '/^ [a-z]/s/^ */^/g'|sed -e :a -e 'N;s/\n/@@/g;ta;P;D'|sed 's,\^\([^@]\+\)@*[\t ]*\([^\^]\+\),! \2\n! URxvt*\1\n\n,g'|sed 's,@@\( \+\),\n\1,g'|sed 's,@*$,,g'|sed '/^[^!]/d'|tr -d "'\`" >> ~/.Xresources
to add some commented lines to my .Xresources, and it worked.

Anybody know how to make Epson iPrint work on ios6? Epson told me to use AirPrint, which stinks because you cannot change printer settings.
Epson needs an update to their app to support ios6. I'm sure they will in time.
Try deleting it and re download it. If that doesn't work, it's what I said above. :( -
Hello, dear Colleagues.
User with administrators rights cannot change printer properties on "Advanced" tab from "Devices and Printers" on Windows Server 2012 R2.
If to launch "Devices and Printers" on server, all printer properties on "Advanced" tab are inactive (see screen below).
But I can change it manually with "Print Management". Features become active.
The main purpose - to uncheck "Enable advanced printing features" with powershell
scripts.
$erroractionpreference = "continue"
$colPrinters = Get-Wmiobject -Class win32_printer -computername print_server -Filter "Name like 'printer1' or Name like 'printer2' or Name like 'printer3' or Name like 'printer4' or Name like 'printer5' or Name like 'printer6'" # get printers on server and filter with names
ForEach ($objPrinter in $colPrinters) { # get printer details from WMI
If ($objPrinter.RawOnly -ne "True") { # check that Advanced printing fetaures is turned on
Write-host $objPrinter.Name
Write-Host $objPrinter.RawOnly
$objPrinter.RawOnly = "True" # Untick and update the object in WMI
$objPrinter.Put()
It works on Windows 7 workstation, but does not on print server Windows Server 2012 R2 with error
Exception calling "Put" with "0" argument(s): "Generic failure "
At \\print_server\c$\DisableAdvancedPrintingFeatures.ps1:8 char:17
+ $objPrinter.Put()

+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : DotNetMethodException
Can you help me with that? Look like somethings with rights.
Thank you.Hello, Alan
Morris.
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried to runs PS Script both locally and remotely, previously running Powershell ISE as Administrator.
I've noticed interesting thing - if to
check "Enable advanced printing features"
manually thru Print Management snap-in, script works fine. But, time to time after some manipulations on print server, this advanced feature returns to enabled state automatically by system, I think. In this case PS Script does not work. Next, if to disable
feature manually again (thru Print Management snap-in),
and enable manually again, PS Script will work. Very strange situation.
Thanks. -
Cannot change printer properties when printing PDF files in IE8
Whenever I try to print a PDF file displayed within IE8, I cannot change the printer properties from the print dialogue box. the properties button appears as if it as if it is active because it visually confirma a click; however no properties dialogue box appears. printing html from IE8 works fine.
If I save the PDF to desktop and print from there, I can change properties fine.
Running Win7/64; IE8 (32 bit version). Another PC in the household, also running Win7/64 and IE8/32 does not exhibit this problem.
Printer is Officejet 6500 E709a connected to local workgroup via ethernet cable; I have uninstalled via add remove programs and reinstalled the printer software from the HP CD. It did not help.I cannot access 'properties' for my hp1536dnf mfp.

When I attempt to change Printer Properties in Word 2010, they simply revert back to the default setting. I am unable to use the Printer Properties within the Word 2010. If the default is grayscale, that is all the printer will print unless I change the default setup in the Control Panel. It appears to be an incompatibility with Office 2010 software as other programs allow the change of Printer properties.
I have the exact identical problem. Brand new printer (HP PhotoSmart C4780) on a brand new PC (Windows 7). I cannot access the printer properties dialog box when the PDF file has been opened in an embedded Adobe Viewer window in Internet Explorer.
When I select [Print] from Word or Adobe Viewer, or anywhere else, I can then press the [Properties] button and it opens the printer properties just fine.
But if I open a PDF document through Internet Explorer, clicking on that [Properties] button doesn't do anything. No error or anything. If I press the [Save] in the Adobe Acrobet-embedded Internet Explorer window, it too does nothing. This leads me to think it is an Adobe Acrobat issue. However, I have found nothing in their support forums on this topic.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?

There is no trace of Bing in any program or default. Is Firefox loading it onto my computer? How can I keep Firefox but get rid of the Bing?
''cja2 [[#answer-724751|said]]''
<blockquote>
I removed the Bing toolbar immediately, and I removed it as a default search engine. But it stayed as the default for when a tab is opened. I uninstalled Firefox but Bing came with Firefox every time. Has Firefox partnered with Bing in a way that Bing is part of the package? I hate Bing and will remove Firefox if it includes Bing
</blockquote>
If you are getting Bing when you click on new tab try this: Type '''about:config''' into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to '''browser.newtab.url''' and make sure 'Value' is set to '''about:newtab''' (right click to change it if necessary).
Also, if you haven't already, please run the malware removal programs in my original answer. -
When trying to print I get error code 30892 and authentication required how do I fix this?
I am new to my Mac and am having trouble printing. I keep getting error code -30892 and authentication required and it can't print. I have sharing features open on both my PC and my Mac. Any suggestions?
Doesn't sound like any error number I'm familiar with. What's your set-up? Are you using a print server?

Cannot change print settings, print on foto size
When I want to print a webpages the printer (HP6380) prints in the format 10 x 15 instaed of A4. I tried changing the settings in printermenu but it did not help...
When reading your '''More system details...''' for the HPOfficejet 6300 series printer, the paper height is set to 11.0 and the width to 8.5 - '''inch''' settings for Letter size paper - not metric settings for A4 sized paper.
Where are you checking the setting for A4 paper?
{Ctrl + P} to see what is known as the "native print dialog", then check to make sure that printer is selected in the Printer - Name box at the top, and then hit the '''Properties''' button. The preferences that appear there are what Firefox uses. Settings that appear elsewhere or the "default" printer settings aren't what Firefox uses. -
Office 2013 with Lexmark printer - Cannot change printer settings
I have a Lexmark x4650 and I can open the printer settings within all of the Office 2013 applications (Windows 7 64-bit). But after I change the settings to what I want, I cannot exit the printer settings dialog. If I click OK, nothing happens. If I click
Cancel, nothing happens. If I click the X in the upper right of the window, nothing happens. The only way to close the printer settings dialog is to force the Office application to close through the Windows task manager. I've tried re-installing both Office
and the Lexmark print driver/applications with no success. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
JohnWe need to narrow down the issue, to see if the root cause is on Office side or Printer side. Please try below steps for troubleshooting:
1. Try obtaining an updated printer driver from the printer's manufacturer. And update your PC, restart and try again.
2. Try to select another printer in Printer
drop-down list in any Office application, and try again to see if we have the same issue.
Printing is primarily controlled by settings in Microsoft Windows:
3. Please try to print a file outside the Office application, say a .pdf file to determine whether your printer setup in Windows is correct or using the Windows Printing
Troubleshooter.
Hope this can help you. Thanks. -
Cannot change Print Presets in iPhoto 08
Although I have saved multiple printing presets for other applications, in iPhoto 08 only "Standard" is available. This holds for all user accounts. Any way to correct this?
The problem is that "standard" prints on standard paper for my ink jet. Photos are therefore printed in low res.Try the simple fix: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete. -

I kept getting performance issues with Firefox 3.6 from the add-ons to crashes. I then chose to try Google Chrome as the main browser and somehow it uninstalled the Mozilla Firefox and all the toolbars, bookmarks and all were uninstalled without importing.
On one hand it's good since the browser is cleaner and functioning better now especially after many attempts with YouTube and other video streaming sites.
Is there a way to retrieve all those lost items or are they considered gone?
Thanks for your assistance. Please read this article about restoring bookmarks:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks
As far as your passwords are concerned, I don't think there's anything you can do. But for the future, you can use the following add-ons to avoid any future loss:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2848/
or
http://www.xmarks.com/
Both are good.
And a simple way to import your bookmarks (since you already saved it on your desktop as html) is:
Bookmarks / Organized Bookmarks / Import and Export
Good luck. -
Firefox has not allowed my computer to shut down normally for months.
I created a whole new user with a new Firefox profile, but when I quit Firefox or try to do a shutdown, Firefox closes it's windows but leaves the small dot under it's icon on the doc. Force quitting does nothing. If I click on the icon I get nothing if I go to the application folder and double click on Firefox, I get this: The application “Firefox.app” is not open anymore.
I'm using Chrome because the only way to run firefox (without a forced shutdown) is to copy the Firefox app to another name and run that. BTW, I've also deleted all the parentlock files from my system (several times). If this cannot be solved I'll have to switch to Chrome (as much as I hate Google)!

Cannot change options in get info
When I go to options and try to change the media setting it is greyed out. I have audio cd's that I want to change from music to audiobooks. Matter a fact it doesn't let me change anything in options. It used to in windows.
check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access. if this doesn't help, try the same on your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).
