Now running stable at stock speed, outdated system needs OC advice

The system in my signature had years with random BSOD since I installed the 2nd memory stick in dual channel. Those days are gone...
Now is running well, what I did after minor research and testing both ramsticks separately (passed memtest86+ positively) was asking MSI for a beta bios, thus now having installed the V11.7B1
It just wasn't enough just to flash it. had to tweak setting on the core cell menu many times before i got it right...
Manual settings: DOT at 5%, FSB at 166MHz, 1:1 cpu/memory ratio, aggressive CPU interface, memory timings manual at 2.5-3-3-11, disabled all spread spectrums... thats all i can remember by now.
The problem is: Temperature
apparently only updating the bios to the beta 7 rised the CPU temp 10ºC... with no overclocking done.
I have right now the CPU at 44ºC idle, at night; spring, almost summer in this side of the globe.
Sure I use the Zalman panel to set almost all fans to minimal, cause I sleep with the machine on, in my bedroom... but with the bios 5 or the 3, it was cooler and i could raise the clocks to 200MHz and getting same temp than now at stock 166MHz speed.
I couldn't manage to make system 100% stable when had the official bios, that seemed cooler... even at stock speeds...
But I'm not really sure if it was the bios that fixed the random BSOD I had, or just the settings I made into corecell menu lastly.
What I wish is to rise the FSB to 200MHz, and having it stable, without setting all fans to max speed 24 hours a day nor having any temperature-related problem.
I can't risk burning out my rig, but I really need to juice it up, cause render times are taking too long, and I just cant afford a new one by now.
The cuestion is: Will the older bios 3 (known to be a good overclocker and apparently cooler), be as stable as this beta bios 7, IF i set the EXACT same configurations at the cell menu? Will I be able to overclock as i want once then? Or are this temperatures I'm reading now, not an issue to be worried about (meaning could I go and OC it right away)?

Use the bios that works.  No need to change if the bios that you are now using does the job.
There was a change made in the way that the bios measures the cpu temp with the later versions but your temps are nothing to worry about even if it reads 10C higher now.
The maximum temp for your cpu is 85C.

  • How I got the .4181 OS finally installed and running stable

    Hi folks,
after a very long night shift, I am "proud" to announce that my Z10 is now running stable in 4181 without any missing functionalities. (even phone calls seem to work properly :-) )
Interested in how I got there, then just read on:
    IMPORTANT:
If not already done, BACKUP ALL DATA on Your Z10 device, You´ll surely need this Backup! :-)
After the everlasting security wipe, which I tried to interrupt several times, by pulling the battery (and the SIM) out, it finally stopped and showed me the connect to PC icon on the screen of the Z10.
So I connected my Z10 and restored the factory FW using the BlackBerry Link Software, WITHOUT having the SIM inserted.
After the first initial setup, I looked for SW Updates, but (and of course) none was presented, due to the missing SIM, so I continued to do some basic setups and "testing" the bare system. All went fine.
After that, I reinserted my SIM, powered the Z10 up and tried to copy the previous backup back onto the Z10, which was (another of course and obviously) not possible, due to mismatching SW-Releases.
So with the SIM inserted, connected to a WiFi and my mobile carrier, I once again checked for updates and voila, .4181 was available, this time having 359MB.
(--> BlackBerry just seems to provide the "basic emergency" OS, all further updates and releases are distributed through Your individual mobile carrier)
I initiated that download, went to bed to get at least a few hours of sleep and when I woke up, I did, what the display on the Z10 wanted: Restart the device.
The then following boot sequence was fast and smooth, reaching the 100% in just under two minutes, no freeze, no hangers, no being stuck.
There I had my bare device on which I could copy my previously carried out backup again in no time!
Of course I had to reenter the some passwords and the SMS were gone, but looking at the last days, I think this is the biggest progress of it all ;-))
THIS is how I did it. Of course I know that I defied against some of the most important rules and therefore I can and will not give You any guarantees that this "solution" will work  unlimited, but considering my high level of frustration and how angry I was, these measures seemed legit to me and I can tell, they just worked fine! ;-)
    the steps in summary:
    - Backup all Data
    - do a Security Swipe
    - extract SIM
    - reset to factory presets using BlackBerry Link
    - re insert SIM
    - look for provider updates
    - install
    - copy previous backup to device
    - don´t worry
    - be happy
PS: Don´t panic, if it takes longer or if nothing seems to happen. What I burnt mostly the last days, where minutes, hours and days
Thumbs up and fingers crossed. I hope this might help You aswell!
If it does, feel free to like this "solution" :-)
    Paddy

Sorry for not being detailed enough.
I have Vista: Ultimate 32 bit edition. Everything works the stereo the 5. surround sound but the main things I did notice is that alot of the options like the crystalizer and various options wouldn't save. They would definately work just when I went into creative console to adjust some more they all went back to the default settings even though they worked and were changed earlier.
Whilst playing Call of Duty 2 it wouldn't use the EAX, I haven't tried other games . I would recommend staying with XP as of right now if you have uninstalled Vista and wait for proper drivers , there is no guarantee the way I installed or explained how to fix will work for you. Just as others before have gotten things to work with different steps to install they did not work for you, so mine not work for you. If you still have Vista installed then why not give my simple step a shot in my first post.

  • How MRP Run exclude QI Stock Type of a Raw Material SLOC?

    Dear all
    Fact:
All of our raw materials must be subject to quarantinee upon GR. We have Storage Location of Raw Material: RMSL
In Material Master of that Raw Material
We are using the "SLOC of EP" (MRP View 2) to put the defaulted GR SLOC. And we also make use of the "Post to QI Stock" in View: Purchasing.
    Upon GR:
During GR, the Raw Mat SLOC (RMSL) will be copied from "SLOC of EP" of the material master data, and it will be posted to the stock type "QI STOCK".
    Problem:
However, when the MRP Controller run MRP, it will take the QI Stock Type of Raw Material SLOC into account.
Is there anyway we can exclude the QI Stock Type of Raw Material SLOC from MRP Run?
I have read from some threads to suggest to post it to the Quarantinee SLOC. We prefer not to create another Quarantinee SLOC (QISL) which will be filled in SLOC of EP and then after passing QC, we perform Transfer Posting from SLOC: QISL to SLOC: RMSL. We have a few Raw Material SLOCS and we do not want the Warehouse guy to get confused which Raw MAterial SLOC to choose upon GR. Rather, we prefer it to be defaulted in the "SLOC of EP" in the material master.
    Please advise.
Edited by: Daimos on Jul 13, 2009 1:16 PM

    Hi,
Generally MRP consider stock from all the storage location when run the MRP for Plant level for material.
However we can exclude the particular storage location from MRP Run, for those following settings to be done.
Go to MRP-2 View of material master and select the storage location to be excluded from MRP. (Press Shift +f1 ex .sloc2) As per your case it should be RMSL
In that MRP view go to Storage location MRP Tab.
And assign u201CSLoc MRP indicator = 1 (Storage location stock excluded from MRP)u201Dand save.
Now run the MRP, stock from sloc2 will not be considered to create-planned order.
Please try this and revert back.
    Cheers,

  • How do I speed up system as I upgraded to Maverick and everything is running extremely slow-especially "pages"

How do I speed up system after upgrading to Maverick on my iMac?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to gather information about the state of your computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it on this page. However, you should be cautious about running a program at the instance of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them.
Here's a summary of what you need to do: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait about a minute. Then paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking  anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in your browser, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for your password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator rights.
The test may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. There wiil be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress until it's done. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report your results. No harm will be done.
When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." That's because the forum software falsely identifies something in the post as a violation of the terms of use. If that happens, please post the results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I am trying to get my system current.  I am now running Mac OS X, version 10.6.8 (I believe this is "Snow Leopard").  What should I upgrade to?

The current system is OS X 10.8 which is downloadable from the App store, which you can upgrade to directly if your system meets the system requirements.  Note that starting with OS X 10.7, PowerPC-based programs will no longer run. So, for example, people with Office 2004 got surprised when they upgraded and found that the older Office programs would no longer run. Newer Office programs are OK.

Can someone please tell me why my Macbook Air running Safari with just 3 windows open in Safari is now running incredibly slow, barely downloading either java or flash text and invariably causing it to crash with the spinning rainbow appearing almost every 2 minutes.
I am very inept when it comes to computers but cannot believe the new system would cause such problems.
    Solutions all helpful.

That's one way to justify a new Mac. :-)  Adding more RAM to the 2009 model is cheaper, though (but I'm guessing not as much fun).

  • I'm running OSX 10.9.2, when my system updated it required my Apple ID... When I provided it, it said that AppleID hadn't been used at the App Store... so now I'm locked out of my system... what do I do??

First, there are no PPC Macs that can run Snow Leopard or later. Did you buy your iMac used? Where did you get Mavericks in the first place? If it was installed by the seller, then you are not licesnsed to use his/her copy.
Do you know exactly what iMac model you have? If it's a post 2010 model you can do the following:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. You may then go to the App Store to download Mavericks using your Apple ID.
If you have a 2010 model you may require a special firmware upgrade before you can do the above: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery.
If you have an earlier iMac then you must get Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed by installing a version of Snow Leopard either included on the software restore discs or:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

Hi, I've just downloaded Aperture 3.2 and transfered all my iPhoto Library but now when I use the Aperture program it runs at the slowest speed possible and is almost impossible to work with. It is constantly processing why is this?

You can click on the text that says 'processing' in the main windows and it will open (toggle) the Activity Window, (can also be accessed via the Window menu -> Show Activity.
It will tell you what Aperture is doing with more precision and perhaps even how many photos it still needs to process. It is generally best to wait until all that processing is done before you start working with the photos (well it is best to first turn of options what you dont want to use, perhaps Faces or Previews and then let it process the new photos).

  • Upload QI stock  in SAP system

We are in cut over face of implementation project.
We have already QI stock for multiple materials outside SAP system, now we want to upload this stock in SAP system.
What is the best approach in this situation?

SAP has a standard process for this.
In the QM plant settings on the tab insp. lot creation, you shoudl find a field call "InstypeForInspStock".
Per the SAP standard, you enter 0800.  (you can try another inspection type, but this one works!)
Make sure in config you have defined a task list usage for inspection type 0800.
Make sure you have not turned on QM for any of the materials you are planning on loading inventory for.  If you already did, you'll have to use QA08 to deactivate all inspection types before doing the inventory load.
Load all your inventory, including the QI stock into QI stock via IM.
Use QA08 to turn on all your inspection types.   On the QA08 screen you'll find an indictor "Activate despite insp. stock".  Make sure this is clicked on when running QA08.
One you have run QA08 for all the materials, all those with stock in QI should now have inspection lots associated with them.
They will be an 08 origin and 0800 inspection typ.
Be careful.  Once the inspection types are created, you won't be able to load additional qtys to QI via IM.  You only get one shot.

My system now randomly freezes in windows and while gaming. Any ideas?

Get latest MSi Afterburner: >How to use MSI Afterburner< (download link included in tutorial) and see how the temps are doing under load and idle and report back.
After trying with your factory oc clocks (1019MHz gpu / Boost Clock:1097MHz) lower gpu to nvidia reference clocks of 915MHz (will boost to 980MHz) and see if it is still freezing.

  • Did a little too much maintenence - now I can't boot from my system drive

I figured I'd watch the Bears game this afternoon and do a little maintenence on my G4/733, currently runnint 10.4.9.
I booted from an older (10.3.9) system disk I have in the computer, Verified the disk (all was well, no repairs needed), then booted from my Disk Warrior (Tiger) disk and rebuilt the directory. Booted from the newly verified and rebuilt disk and it started up fine. Then ran Onyx and emptied several caches, including the system cache and kernel cache. Ooops, no longer boots...instead, I get the grey Apple screen, and then it just sits. When this happened the first time, I reset the PRAM by pressing the restart button six times...still no boot action.
The drive mounts fine, and so I'm in the process of copying the entire volume over to an external drive before performing any more maintenence. I can't do an archive and install from my supplied OS disc, as it's a lower OS version than I'm currently running. I'm loathe to do an erase and install, as then I get to perform the always-painful "make the computer work like it used to" process. And, the maintenence steps I've taken on this drive are nothing I haven't done recently on my other two Macs (both now running 10.4.10), both of which are running fine. So I'm still classifying this glitch as "minor".
Any suggestions out there? I'm gonna try to repair the disk again, and then run the OS 10.4.10 upgrade, unless I hear different from anyone here. Idears?

I had a similar problem. A mac started doing wierd things like not starting. All the tests showed no problem except one..I ran TechTool and did a full surface scan. It showed some bad blocks. The only way to repair was to clone to a back-up----erase and zero out the whole drive---then restore from the back-up.
That cured it....even a disk utility did not see the error.
Bad blocks can happen anytime, it may be no big deal but if this is your problem check it every so often and if more start showing up....start shopping..

  • Reg:How can we show non valuated stock in the system for the paid items?

    Hi All,
Customer orders 100 boxes and pays to all material. But customers  are shipped the  required material as and when required. My client requirement is these 100 boxes should show as non valuated stock.
How can we show these paid 100 boxes of material as non valuated stock in the sap? Is this functionality available in sap or it comes under requirement?
Ex:Customer X ordered 100 boxes and he paid to all quantity.
The customer X does not have space at his premises to keep the stock of 100 boxes. He just requests 20 boxes every monday or required quantity. Then company ships the required quantity to customer X.
Now the requirement is that these 100 boxes should be shown as non valuated stock in the system. This should not used for other customers, should not work ATP functionality for these material quantity. This should show as reserved to this customer X
could you share any ideas or solutions reg this..
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards....VM

    Hi Arnel,
Thank you for giving valuable points.
In consignment scenario, the stock is available at customer place not at company place. But ownership is company itself.
But in this scenario,Customer is not having space to keep the total ordered quianty. So cutomer stock should be kept at company itself, customer requests the required quantity(for which he  already paid  for the total ordered quantity) as and when required. How can it suits in this scenario?Could you plz calirfy the debit memo to realize sales ?How it will be help ful?
    Thanks and regards...VM

  • Put my macbook pro to sleep. When I opened it, the desktop window is small and I can't resize it. All applications now run in the smaller size window.  Can't make it fill the screen. Just switched from windows.  Thank you.

  • Program speeds up System time?

Hi, im writing an animation program in swing that loads and displays images in a seperate thread. there is a variable sleep time in between display times (because of a timestamp on the image).
the wierd thing is that when I output the timestamp to a string after sleeping for the appropriate time per frame, the time seems to be going faster. I thought this was just an internal bug, but when I go to http://www.time.gov/ the applet there shows the time being sped up while my program is running.
Is there a known issue with threads and sleeping that affects the system time? thanks

    Huh?
"speeds up system time"? "time seems to be going faster"? Man, if you can make time go faster, let me know, because this Monday has already lasted several weeks.
Seriously, what are you saying? You tell it to sleep for 100 ms but it sleeps less? Or more?
If it's that the time is later than you expect when it wakes up, then that's no surprise, since sleep only guarantees that it will sleep at least that long (unles interrupted). It could sleep longer, depending on the vagaries of your OS's and VM's schedulers.
Or are you saying that after 10 seconds of real wall clock time have passed, your system clock has advanced 12 seconds?
