is there something else to replace it? We used to watch the movies on iTunes using Front Row, now my $20 remote seems uselesss...

Basically any media player out there (VLC, MPlayerX, iTunes, Quicktime etc.) have support for the Apple Remote. You can download one of these for free, if you feel like it. (MPlayerX available through the Mac App Store)

Either purchase additional iCloud space or turn off iCloud backup and backup you new phone with a computer running iTunes.

How do you convert a .mp3 to .aiff now that there's no quicktime 7?

I used to use quicktime 7 pro to convert all the songs in my "final cut" projects to .aiff and now that there is quicktime 10, it won't let me install quicktime 7 on my laptop. What is apples solution for letting us easily convert our song files now?

QuickTime 7 has been moved to Applications > Utilities in Snow Leopard. Otherwise it should be an optional install on your install disc. You could also try MPEG Streamclip: http://www.squared5.com/

No More Front Row :(

I updated my mac to mountain lion and my Front Row app went away. Is there a way to get it back? Or a way to un-update and have it come back?

You'll have to go back to Snow Leopard, I believe that is the latest Mac OS X that has it.
So hopefully you still have the DVDs for SL. If not, then maybe someone else will be able to chime in and tell you.
I personally had a 2010 Mac Mini server, which I've sold last month, that I installed SL and Mountain Lion on it. I never used Front Row, so I assume that it would of been on the SL partition.

i can understand that software support need hardware ability. but spare parts? what on earth . i have 2 desk tops need power supply 2006 and 2008 and its look like apple stopped the spare parts for both of them . ok some of will wonder saing its tool old mac . my answer to them why we buy apple stuf ? because its last longer than the others. but what defrint its make if there is no more parts to last that long

Is there an alternative to Front Row in lion?

I understand Front Row is no longer available in Lion. Is ther an appropriate alternative? I find Front Row a much better interface for playing music than iTunes, as it matches the interface on the ATV.

You are not alone with FrontRow, however if you copy the following back from your SL installation it seems to work

How can I share my iMovies now that there is no MobileMe?

I used to share my iMovies on my MobileMe Gallery, but now that is closed where can I share my movies?
I don't use Facebook and even though I have an account with YouTube I can't seem to get it to work. Does anyone know of an easy option to share my movies as the file size is way too big to send as an email.

Buy a "silent" ringtone from the iTunes Store. Or, if you don't want to spend $1.29, you can make your own by recording a 30 seconds of silence then converting it to a ringtone. I believe should be able to do that with Garageband on your iPhone. Or, do it on your computer.

More Front Row Blackscreen *after a few seconds of video*

Hey all, and happy new year!
ok so me and my sis watch a lot of anime. I get a lot of my anime off a site called bleach exile. Sometimes the files are MKV, and so i have to convert these.
I drag the file into quicktime (perian installed) and go to the end of the film. Then i drag another video into the quicktime window. Then close the window. Quicktime asks do i wanna save, and i save to the desktop usually. Then open the file with garage band and cut out the 'other video' then export at full quality. Then i change the exported file extension from .mov to .avi
I know this seems like a chore. But it only takes a few mins per file. Unlike isqunt or handbrake which take ages.
I can play all the files that i do this conversion method in quicktime. but after a few seconds in fontrow the screen just goes blank... This doesnt happen with any of my other .avi (xvid)
there is still sound in frontrow just no video. I have tried renaming the files back to mov. but no success
I want to be able to get a mac mini and watch all my anime on my 22" monitor. but im really annoyed that i have to get up each time and work with quicktime on the desktop!

ok i have found out what is causing the problem. It is the ssa text subtitles embedded in the files. As soon as these subtitles play, the screen goes blank.

I thought that Apple prohibited 3rd party email clients (something about not having uniform user experience for included functionality etc etc.). So how come Hotmail users get their own app (which will include push delivery soon)?

Will we soon have good clients for Gmail (with push) or Exchange (the list features lacking in the iPhone mail app for Exchange is too long to list here!)?

A 3rd party developer would need to develop such an app just for a Gmail account and have the app approved by Apple, or Google would need to do so, or Google could provide push access for a Gmail account with the iPhone's mail client now - nothing is stopping Google from providing push access with a Gmail account with the iPhone's Mail client. The same for an Exchange account, but whoever did so would need to license ActiveSync from Microsoft, which I don't believe it likely.

Now that there is such a push on Adobe Cloud will this mean will no longer support our standalone products, such as CS6 or Lightroom 5?

I'm a photographer on Social Security, and can't afford monthly Cloud fees so my concern is that Adobe will not support CS6 or Lightroom 5? And many of us don't want to be involved in the Cloud. As a former network manager the Cloud is a bad idea and only serves to increase cash flow on a monthly basis.

I read that - but you seem to be labouring under the misconception that Adobe is a charity, not a business whose key aim is profit maximisation, not the warm glow that comes from helping people out.
To put it another way: Adobe's not trying to be "THE BEST ALTERNATIVE FOR [you]". It can and will do whatever it wants to do in order to enrure maximum return for its shareholders, and if there's "collateral damage" along the way, well that's the capitalist "American Way", isn't it?
To put it another way: your personal circumstances are not Adobe's problem, I'm afraid.

My ipod has no songs and it says that there is no more space. When I connect it to my computer windows says the drive needs to be formatted.

My ipod classic shows no music and says that the hard drive is full. When I connect it to my computer (that has itunes on it) it does nothing but windows says it needs to be formatted. It shows up under computer as a USB Drive. It won't sink.

If this is the problem following the instruction. Frequently it is a hardware problem.
