Another surprise from my inherited doc set, though in general my predecessor didn't do a bad job: a paragraph style specifies a background colour (CMYK, process) to give white text on a blue background on the cover page. No problems on screen, otherwise I would of course have noticed earlier – but creating a .pdf unhelpfully drops the background so I end up with discreet/confidential white on white. First, launch Terminal from /Applications/Utilities on your Mac. Then individually type or paste these three lines into the Terminal:
defaults read ~/.MacOSX/environment DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
defaults read /Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info LSEnvironment
defaults read /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Info LSEnvironment
If the Terminal returns back to you lines that look like this:
The domain/default pair of (/Users/jacqui/.MacOSX/environment, DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES) does not exist
The domain/default pair of (/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Info, LSEnvironment) does not exist
The domain/default pair of (/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Info, LSEnvironment) does not exist
Then you're home free and you're not (yet) infected by Flashback. If they do return results, then it's likely that you are infected.

Thanks for writing. It looks like you had selected your work experience to be visible to the public, so this is why it was visible online. Now I see that you have your work experience listed as private (other than what you have on your profile), so this should no longer be the case. I can't open projects, FCPX didn't find my photo's and didn't find the links to the stuff of fxfactory.
I removed fcpx and installed it again after closing my mac.
I renamed fcpprojects and events. FCPX starts empty without photo's and links to fxfactory.
Very disappointed because it cost my hours and fcpx doesn't work yet.

Trash FCP doesn't work. than i go to Library etc. That doesn't work.
I made a new user account and FCP works.
FCPX is working again on this new account.
I see all effects, transitions, titles and generators.
The only downside is that I have to set everything again. FxFactory. Iphoto etc.
How is it possible that I can set up a new account FCPX and not on my own account. Is there an explanation for this.
I was helped, because I can use FCPX again on a new account. Although with some detours and some extra time and energy.

May I seek help re: my concern - you see, I want to upgrade my Macair 13 to OS X Mavericks. Following the instruction found on Apple website, I installed OSX Mavericks starting at around 11pm last night, it's 10:25am now, yet it is not yet finished. My question then is how long does it take really to do the upgrading? Or is there anything else that I missed out? One thing sure, my macair13 is compatible with OSX Mavericks.
Would appreciate your advise.

depends on your ISP connection speeds, on a 10mbs connection at around 6gig download, it takes around 40 mins to 1hr and half.

so here is the strange a wonderful tale of my Fibre order..
We live in a **bleep** speed area, we have 4 kids who like to stream...after checking month after month and seeing fibre is not here yet, it was like a jubilee year when finally the message came that infinity was availible. So with better speeds we looked to switch to Phone,TV, and unlimited Infinity.
Went through the forms and ordered all, Picked a delivery date of the 15th of April and had letters from BT confrming the order and from Sky letting us know that they have relinquished responsibility and passed the baton to BT from the 15th.
Now we have just got a text telling us there is a problem and an UPDATE ..yes UPDATE will not be avalible until the 16th of April !!. As you can imagine I felt like shrek duped by ruplestltskin. I check on BT.com and guess what Infinity is not availible and may be sometime between April and May 14... just like it would be in Nov 13..Dec 13.
So now I will have no TV as Sky TV ends as I switched to BT, No Broadband, possibly Phone so maybe the kids can randomly call strangers to pass the time whilst not being able to revise homework or unwind with a movie.
I cannot believe that BT can take an order and liaise with my old provider to cancel the contract when they cannot deliver what I have ordered. I checked Opem reach and my exchange is taking Fibre order so I am damm confused and a little upset.
In the words of Roger Waters from Pink Floyd "is there anybody Outhere" who can help?? or had a similar experience

Calendar - Week view now only 5 days - how can you see a 7 day view again?

I like using the Week view in the Calendar, since upgrading to the latest OS a few days ago I can now only see 5 days in the Week view rather than the full 7 days I previously had. Can I change the settings so I can see the full week again?

In the Calendar app swipe from the top, choose Settings > General > and set Week View to full week. That should bring back the two missing days.

Go to system preferences, mission control, and unselect "Show Dashboard as a Space". While you're there, you may want to make dashboard set to a hot corner "Hot Corners" button at the bottom.

I have a client that has both VMware vCloud Automation Center, and Cisco UCS Director.
They wish to constuct a net-new (Greenfield) data center and are hearing from both VMware and Cisco.
I have researched, and found little regarding the merger of the two.
I realize that very likely vCAC is teh "main" management platform, while Cisco UCSD will handle the more "physical hardware" tasks.
REST API's will be leveraged as well.
What have you seen written and done in this space when using BOTH?
Please send me any thoughts or links to relevant data.
I am having a hard time locating good data so that I an advise the client in a good way.

just to illustrate what mess this is, I tested for you on Leopard (10.5) and Snow Leopard (10.6) using the same wide gamut monitor. Here are two screenshots from that experiment. I converted the screenshots from my display profile to sRGB to show you what I see and scaled down 50% (this is a 30" behemoth). First Leopard.
You see they are all the same, but different from the sRGB export you provided. The GB sticker is too blue and the tint on the car is wrong. I doubt anybody but a photographer would notice though.
Next is Snow Leopard:
Here the 320 pixel, the 480 pixel and the 960 pixel image are different from the 720 pixel, the 720p and the 1080p ones. Neither is strictly correct as they are all different from the sRGB display. This is consistent with their being no real color management, just gamma corrections and color space transforms (video is usually not stored as RGB but as YUV, necessitating a transform for display). Annoying, but not much you can do about it.

What makes you think you bought a terabyte? There is no such storage available - the maximum is 55GB including the fre GB and this costs $100 per year. A terabyte is a huge amount - 1,000 GB - many hard disks are now available at that size, but not online storage.

How do I disable this feature? As you're opening a new tab or typing in the Awesome Bar, Firefox will check to see if you already have that site open. If you do, you'll be directed to the existing tab so you don't open a duplicate.

When I am in my classroom where I am teaching, I sometimes open a duplicate tab so I can go back and forth while I am grading. This gives me the assignment and grade book open at the same time. This is much faster than opening and closing the two screens as I have to do when I can't open a duplicate site.
If I cannot disable this feature, can I undo this upgrade and return to the previous version? Thanks for your help.

When you enter a site in the URL/Location/Address bar and see "Switch to tab" in the drop-down, you can
*use ALT+Enter to open the new (duplicate) tab anyway
*use CTRL+left-click on the original tab and drag it until you see an up arrow from below the break point between two tabs, then release the left-click key, then release the CTRL key to get a duplicate of the tab with all of its history (Back/Forward)
*press the Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to Tab" and see the URL.
*Use the cursor Right key to select an item marked as Switch to Tab in the drop down list and copy the URL to the location bar.
*Open the URL in the current tab by using Shift + Enter on the highlighted entry.
You can install this Add-on to completely disable "switch to tab": https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/switch-to-tab-no-more/
