NPS Not Respecting to Ignore User Dial-in Properties

Two domains, one works fine against it's NPS and the other does not; both look to have settings the same.
The one with issues is continually failing authentication with: "The Network Access Permission setting in the dial-in properties of the user account in Active Directory is set to Deny access to the user."
Every AD user we checked has the box checked to rely on NPS policy (none are set to deny) and the single policy we have set is set to allow and to ignore user-specific dial-in properties.
Policy conditions are NAS Port Type: Wireless/Wireless Other, Windows Groups (domain users) and Authentication Type EAP. Machine certificate is set correctly with PEAP and nothing else is different than defaults.
Any ideas on what's going on here?

So I guess NPS is not configured properly or not working properly.

In addition, you can also have a look at event log. This may give us some clue.

10.6.2 changing and not respecting plists?

This past week a couple of strange things happened. On my iMac 20" with 10.6.2 clean, yesterday my login items list was abbreviated on startup - only a few of my menu bar items loaded. I opened the com.apple.loginitems.plist, with (a number of ) plist and text editors, and indeed, half the items normally in there were gone, as depicted in the Accounts Prefpane.
OK, weird, but easy to fix - I'll go back a couple of days in TimeMachine and replace the plist file, which I did. I opened the plist file, checked the full complement of login items were there, and did a restart. Came back up - still with the abbreviated list! OK, so replaced the plist file again, locked it, ran YASU and did a whole cache and permissions repair etc, and restart. Came back up with the same abbreviated list! Check the plist file - still locked, still complete with all items!
So I unlocked it, restarted again, it came back up abbreviated list - and changed the plist file back to the abbreviated list! So I manually added back in, (or reinstalled as the case may be), the various items as in my complete list of login items, and restarted, and now it came back up complete as expected.
My question here is: is there anywhere else that controls the login items such that would cause the above behaviour? Is there some obscure cache that overrides plists-in-place? And why was the restored plist file ignored?
Second thing happened today on another machine - Mac mini, 10.6.2 upgraded. Today one bookmark folder of Safari bookmarks disappeared from my wife's Safari bar. Five folders of bookmarks were there as they were last night, but the sixth folder was gone. The Safari bookmarks plist file was indeed missing them, but perfectly formed nonetheless. So I go back into TimeMachine and restored the bookmarks.plist file. Anyone who's ever migrated Macs knows it's just replace the file, launch Safari and voila! Not in this case. Relaunching Safari with the replaced bookmarks brought up the abbreviated list!. Cleared caches, reset Safari, repaired permissions etc etc. Checked the list in editors - the sixth folder of bookmarks is there!, but not in Safari! I then used Firefox to File > Import Safari bookmarks, and it was there! I then had to import it back into Safari for it to pick up the sixth folder of bookmarks.
Again, I don't have any explanation for any of this.
My questions are: what's causing these random cut-offs of content of plist files without corrupting them as such; and secondly: why are TimeMachine replacement files not being read or respected? Is it a Mac OS X 10.6.2 issue, or does something happen in TimeMachine that renders the restored files invalid, thus rendering a TimeMachine backup as worthless?

I too have the same issue (of Snow Leopard not respecting plist since the 10.6.2 update). In my case, custom launchd agents that ran fine before the update haven't run since; I have checked the Console and get permission denied errors when trying to run a custom launchd that calls an AppleScript application that then backs up a networked drive if the watched folder's last time of change differs from the previous backup. Also, new custom launchd agents will not run (with the same issue of permission denied errors). I have even gone sofar as to:
1. migrate a launchd agent from being a User Agent to a User Daemon, updated the time (which I originally setup as a everyday occurrence, set to run at 7:00am; it was saved as such; but the plist file, when checked, at 9:30pm (21:30h) as the time for implementation and I can't correct it, after many attempts) and rebooted, to no avail.
2. re-installed the 10.6.2 combo updater; again, to no avail
I have also repaired privileges, attempted to create new User Agents in a second Admin account, and all to no avail.
I don't know how to fix this and have search the net for assistance, again, to no avail.

Error trying to run SSIS Package via SQL Server Agent: DTExec: Could not set \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value] value to System.Object

Situation:
SSIS Package designed in SQL Server 2012 - SQL Server Data Tools
Windows 7 - 64 bit.
The package (32 bit) extracts data from a SQL Server db to an Excel Output file, via an OLE DB connection.
It uses 3 package variables:
*) SQLCommand (String) to specify the SQL Statement to be executed by the package
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::ExcelOutputFile].Properties[Value]
Value: f:\Output Data.xls
*) EXCELOutputFIle (String) to specify path and filename of the Excel output file
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::SQLCommand].Properties[Value]
Value: select * from CartOrder
*) VarObjectDataSet (Object) to hold the data returned by SQL Server)
Property path: \Package.Variables[User::VarObjectDataSet].Properties[Value]
Value: System.Object
It consists out of 2 components:
*) Execute SQL Task: executes the SQL Statement passed on via a package variable. The resultng rows are stored in the package variable VarObjectDataSet
*) Script Task: creates the physical output file and iterates VarObjectDataSet to populate the Excel file.
Outcome and issue:The package runs perfectly fine both in SQL Server Data Tools itself and in DTEXECUI.
However, whenever I run it via SQL Server Agent (with 32 bit runtime option set), it returns the errror message below.
This package contains 3 package variables but the error stating that a package variable can not be set, pops up for the VarObjectDataSet only. This makes me wonder if it is uberhaupt possible to set the value of a package variable
of type Object.
Can anybody help me on this please ?

So, judging by your reply, not all package variables used inside a package need to be set a value for when run in DTEXEC ?
I already tried that but my package ended up in error (something to do with "... invocation ...." and that error is anything but clearly documented. Judging by the error message itself, it looks like it could be just about anything. that is why I asked my
first question about the object type package variable.
Now, I will remove it from the 'set values' list and try another go cracking the unclear error-message " ... invocation ...". Does an error message about " ... invocation ..." ring any bells, now that we are talking about it here ?

Yes exactly
You need to set values only forthem which needs to be controlled from outside the package
Any variable which gets its value through expression set inside package or through a query inside execute sql task/script task can be ignored from DTExec
Ok I've seen the invocation error mostly inside script task. This may be because some error inside script written in script task. If it appeared after you removed the variable then it may because some reference of variable existing within script task.

Looks like you are using gcj, not Sun Java.
I don't know if gcj supports the '-jar' syntax.

Risk Analysis - Ignored Users

I have a client who wants to have ignored users (in User Level Risk Analysis) set to Loacked OR Expired....not just Locked, not just Expired, not Locked AND expired....is there a "hidden" selection somewhere?

i have made a quick test (RAR 5.3 SP11) and the option "Locked and Expired" ignores these users:
1) Locked and Expired
2) Locked
3) Expired
So i would say that "Locked and Expired" is "Locked or Expired" too.
You can make a quick test with your SPxx and you will see.

Ignore user input until dialog (no command period allowed)

OK. Hopefully this will finish up my AS app bundle. I need the script to continue its process until the dialog is displayed. When the guest user does ({"."} using command down), the script just ends. Because it doesn't show up as error 128, the cancel script can't run to finish the process.
I have found that during a dialog, the user can't do ({"."} using command down) to prematurely quit the script. But then the script has to wait and can't continue processes with the dialog displayed... can it?
Basically, I need a way to keep the user from canceling the script before the dialog. It would also be nice to allow the user to be able to let the script run in the background while they did tasks like check eMail, etc.
Is there a way to ignore user input until the dialog?

here is what my script will be like when complete:
the app is installed into the login items via an script placed in iCal. When the user logs in, a process happens and the desktop image of the day is loaded. The dialog says "Please confirm that your desktop image is Thursday's image." If they confirm, then the script ends. If they select "is not" then the script repeats, it goes through the process again, installing the necessary files or replacing the old ones and doing other processes.
I have the master app that I can open up once a week and insert the necessary files into the contents folder. Then I make a quick little adjustment to the script, and set it in the server folder.
I have two real problems with the app: 1. I don't want user interference during the process to mess with the installation, 2. I don't want command period to stop the app from taking its course.
Another side issue is that I can access the enclosed files to set the desktop but can't find a way to copy the files to the correct folder. I couldn't find a way to use automator as a folder and an app. I would rather do it in AppleScript where I'm a little more familiar.

AA unable to transfer to Lync 2013, but only on User dial plans

The current environment has two Lync 2013 standard edition servers. Lync 2010 is still in existence, and both pools are connected to an Exchange 2010 SP2 UM server.
UserA is part of the default Global dial plan in Lync and part of a UM dial plan named Global. UserA has been moved to Lync 2013 pool.
UserB is part of a user dial plan in Lync named UserDialPlan and a UM dial plan named UserDialPlan. UserB has been moved to Lync 2013 pool.
Both dial plans have their own route/pstn usage tied to their own sip trunk from Intelepeer. Both UM dial plans have an AA identically configured with key mapping #1 tied to dial the 11 digit phone number of the user. Both users can successfully
be dialed directly via PSTN.
If I call Global’s AA and press 1, the call is successfully connected and rings through to UserA.
If I call UserDialPlan’s AA and press 1, I get “Sorry I couldn’t transfer you to the extension” and the UM server logs shows errors 1079 and 1136:
1079 The VoIP platform encountered an exception Microsoft.Rtc.Signaling.OperationFailureException: Failed to transfer, successful refer notification not received
1136 An error occurred while transferring a call to "15552735555". Additional information: The call transfer type is "Blind.", the transfer target is "phone number", and the caller

If I switch the ip address of our sip trunk back to the Lync 2010 mediation server and alter the Lync topology to connect that trunk back to the 2010 server, then these transfers start working again. This goes for other
user dial plans as well. What I don’t understand is why the Global dial plan would work on 2013 and the user dial plans will not. Refer is disabled on the trunk config (has been for
over 2 years). I assume if it was a general setting like that, the Global plan wouldn’t work either, but what is it that’s special about the Global plan vs. user plans?

I have the same issue. I can actually transfer to extensions when it is speech enabled and I say the person's name. However if I try a key mapping to transfer to the same user using the Extention I get the same "Sorry I couldn't transfer you to the extension"

Default language and region, oracle ignores users wishes

oracle seems to ignore users language wishes. for test, i
installed oracle 9i client. i'm using windows 2k us english, but
use localization of switzerland (numbers, date, etc.).
the installer was:
- in german
no way to convice it to go to english
- i removed german from the installed product languages,
i just left english.
then i started enterprise manager:
- it was in german!!
no way to get it to use english
- all the umlauts were desplayed
strangely.
you should really rethink your concept of localization. language
is NOT localization. a gui should offer to change the used
language EASILY (one click). a database should offer to change
the language in wich it writes error messages easily.

The Oracle installer and the enterprise manager pick up the
user's perferred language from the regional setting on your
Windows OS. Did you by any chance set your locale on Windows to
German (Swiss) ?
Regarding the language of the database error messages, this is
driven by the language part of the NLS_LANG environment
variable. This is also session based, so it you really want to
you can have the 1st error message in German , follow by the
next one in French , and then in Italian etc ....

Breakpoint are not respected on cvi 2013 under w8.1

Dear all,
I am using Labwindows/CVI 2013 on windows 8.1, and I have a strange behavior on breakpoints. Indeed, my program is not stopping on some breakpoints which I have set.
Randomly, the breakpoints are respected, which means that the program stops correctly on these breakpoints. Randomnly also, the breakpoints are not respected, which means that the program do not stop on the setted breakpoints, event that the program runs the instructions where the breakpoints are set.
I use the debug mode, and the instructions were the breakpoints are set are not comments, they are instructions.
I do not have this behavior when I run cvi 2012, under w 7. I do not know if the issue come from w8.1 or cvi2013, or...,
I would like that this issue wil be fixed.

- What version of CVI are you using (SP ?)
- Does the berakpoints that are ignored still appread in the breakpoint listing box ?
- If you creates a project from scratch, does it reproduces the issue ?

Call Hander transfer not working properly when extension dialed

In testing my call handers I have found that if you dial an extenstion during the greeting it only transfer to that extension when that extension has mailbox configured on the system. If the extension in call manager does not have a voice mailbox configured in Unity Connection then the transfer does not work.
When you dial our main number, the greeting tells the caller that if they know there parties extension they can dial it any time. This only works for extensions that have mailboxes.
Do I need to configure mailbox's for every phone even if they are not getting voice mail? Phones such as breakroom or conference room?

If you're running CUC 7 you just need this:
Allow Transfers to Numbers Not Associated with Users or Call Handlers—Check this check box to allow callers to transfer to extensions that are not assigned to other users or call handlers. Connection attempts a release transfer as long as the number entered by the caller is allowed by the Default System Transfer restriction table.

How to configure SharePoint HNSC with a reverse proxy server so that HNSC Share Point URLs are not exposed to end users.

Could you please let me know how SharePoint HNSC can be configured with a reverse proxy server so that HNSC Share Point URLs are not exposed to end users.
In normal path based site collections/web applications, reverse proxy configuration can be done using alternate access mappings with Public URL = "proxy URL", internal = "HNSC Share Point URL" so that share point sends response back
to Public URL = "proxy URL".
In Host Named Site Collections, alternate access mappings are not supported. Each HNSC is designed to have only one URL in each zone. Zone is one of the five zones(Default,Intranet,Internet,Custom,Extranet) with each of which only one alternate
URL is associated. This is what we are able to get using power shell command "Set-SPSiteUrl", but this will not help us to get the response back to proxy URL after a request sent to share point because we could not find any mechanism in share
point HNSC to respond to a different URL(proxy URL). Consequently, Share Point URLs are exposed to external users.
Below share point article in MSDN blog is symmetrical to what we are observing with Share Point 2013 and Proxy Server. It mentions that internal HNSC URLs can’t be hidden using any proxy server. If hiding the internal Share Point URLS is a requirement,
it suggests to use a web application instead of host named site collections.
Though I’m also observing the same behavior with Share Point 2013 HNSC, Could you please confirm my understanding is correct.

You are right that only one URL is allowed for each zone of the host-name site collections in both SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013.
It is by design that each host-name site collection only support one URL for each zone.
The article below is about RTM version of SharePoint, and it is the same for SharePoint 2013 with the latest CU.

So to make the URL of HNSC not exposed to external users is not supported, you need to use path-based sites instead.

Flash Player does not work with Standard User, but will work when browser is "Run as Administrator"

I don't understand why this is happening, but Flash Player will not work when a Standard User is using the browser. It will only work when the browser is run as an administrator. Any way to fix this? I've tried to uninstall, and reinstall the player, and it still wouldn't work.
The user is on Windows 7, 64-bit. Using IE 10.

Again, in my situation, it's very much rights-related as a standard user doesn't even report that the flash player exists when testing it on the Adobe Flash Version Detection website (despite it showing up in Control Panel and under Add/Remove Programs). I've already tried giving the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed and files/subfolders appropriate permissions for the standard user and still nothing. If I either give the user in question full local admin rights or logon as the domain admin, then the Adobe Flash Version Detection website says Flash is installed and Flash works fine.

My system: I work with a mac mini with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
What I have done:
I installed the flash player maybe one year ago under my "first" user account. At that time this user account had had administrator authorization. In the meantime I had to change this "first" user account in an account without administrator authorization and created an administrator user with which I installed different programms. Lately, the message came up that it would be necessary to update the flash player. I did it; under the "first" user account, but of course with the administrator's password for installing. The installation had been "successful" - so I was told. But it did not run. I tried it again and again. Each time with "deinstallation" first. No way; it did not work.
After asking Adobe for the reason of the problem, they suggested to install the programm directly under the administrator user. I did that (of course after deinstalling under the "first" user account) with the result, that flash player runs under my administrator and my "second" user account, but not under the first user account. There I am always told to update my flash player.
With this result, I talked to Adobe. So they told me to contact the producer of the operating software, since this would be a mistake of the operating software.
And here I am - full of hope to get help from you.

Tablet Wacom has wrong behaviour, not respect alt right mouse in Photoshop CC 2014

I have set my Wacom Bamboo tablet to send modifier Alt+Right button when I press the button, then I can change size or hardness of the cursor.
I works in CS6 and CC but not in CC 2014. The bubble "alt" is now displayed but Photoshop not respect the alt button and I cannot change the size of cursor. When I press the alt+right button on mouse, it works.
When I change mode of tablet from Pen to Mouse, it works but I cannot map the cursor to main display - this workaround is not applicable for me :-(

I'm having the same issue. Scroll wheel works fine in all Adobe products besides Photoshop. I've tried reinstalling Photoshop, plugging in the mouse to a different USB port, reinstalling the mouse driver, and restarting my computer multiple times. This bug makes Photoshop practically useless, as everything takes about twice as long to get done.
I really hope we get a fix for this soon. So far CC has been a huge disappointment, filled with small, productivity-destroying bugs like this one.

Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options.

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.
