NQ Mobile Security & Antivirus - Worth checking out...

Recently I have been investigating a new method of protecting my device since the latest DKFBootkit malware threat brought to light, at the moment only rooted device are the only ones effected by this malware but since hackers are becoming more and more familiar with methods to attack Android users...
I decided to try NQ Mobile Security and Antivirus app from the market and it appears rather impressive from first impression, I really love the option to control data use and also the detail list of all devices rights to curtain information on your device, like contact info, email, locations and so on..

I've heard that NQ isn't bad. There's also Kaspersky & another one that people tend to like but dagnabit if it isn't escaping me at the moment. Sure there's the standard Lookout & Avast! out there but this was yet another one. Maybe it was Bitdefender? Oh that's going to drive me batty now.
ANYWHO...I actually found an article comparing the various apps out there. I wonder if I can find it again. They did some pretty extensive "testing" of the various apps out there. I currently have AVG and I'm about to dump it because of the testing and go with either Avast! or perhaps Kaspersky. I haven't decided yet. May look into NQ again. I already have a Norton's thingy-ma-bob on my phone but haven't ditched it yet. Probably could.

Logic ver. 6.3.1 ... is it worth checking out?

I use Digital Performer, and I have Logic ver. 6.3.1 put away somewhere. Never installed it. I am intrigued by the latest version of Logic Pro. I am not sure if I am prepared to spend the necessary $700 for the upgrade to Logic Pro, based on the prior version I own.
Is ver. 6.3.1 [Big Box] worth installing and checking out? Will it run on Tiger, and lastly, what are the main differences between what I have and the latest edition of Logic Pro?
Essentially I produce broadcast dialog audio. Software instruments are not important to me.

It won't run properly on OS 10.4.
Logic Audio (big box) is very limited compared to Logic Pro anyway, thee are so many features it doesn't have it is hard to enumerate them here.

Music ID Tag app worth checking out....

I have been using a application called Android ID3 that recently got updated and I figured it merit sharing, for users with large amounts of music on device and want to organized the file but the ID Tag information has random tags that makes grouping albums together a little difficult you may want to check this out..

Review worth checking out

I came upon this review of the new 17" intel imac on a site called "Ars technica". It's very thorough. It's kind of long (8 pages) but if you've got the time it's worth reading. It includes a breakdown of all the components and the architecture, software, benchmarks, and comparisons to a G5 imac and a Powermac G5. It even addresses booting Windows (no, it didn't work!). Apparently they did not have a 20" imac to test, but it gets the job done anyway.
All in all, it's very positive. It seems pretty objective as these people review a lot more than just Macs, so they are far from prejudiced toward the Mac.

Just finished skimming through an article on "The Spatial Finder" that has my head swimming. I see this author has some very definite ideas about what is wrong with Apple's Finder and how to "fix" it. Personally, I have no problems with the finder. Actually, all you really need to find anything is Spotlight. I'm so used to searching folders for files that I forget all I have to do is start typing the name of the file or folder and Spotlight finds it before I even finish typing. I still try to organize files and folders in a standard fashion, but with Spotlight it's hardly necessary. I also like the dock and the column view finder. For me, it works well.

I found the file but when I added it to the list for the Data Execution Program to ignore , I received a message that the Program.x86/itunes file must have the DEP on in order to run. Anyone else having this problem ?

How can I turn off blocking "check out" on a secure server?

Certain websites "Check Out" portions are blocked. Warning says " OCSP response is not yet valid (contains a date in the future)
Error code: sec_error_ocsp_future_response. Authorization of received data could not be verified."
What does this mean and how do I bypass it. One site in particular I have used many times in past.

Are there any users of Mobile Security programmes like McAfee security for example? I just want to ask which one is the best and whether McAfee is worth of paying for premium version?

for that to work you will need to have a data plan and for the phone to be on, if someone remove the SIM card it will be pointless to have that. if you lose your phone you will have to access a PC right away but there are other apps to find your phone w/o antivirus.

McAfee Security - Antivirus programme as supplied ...

In Issue 415 (22nd Jan - 4th Feb 2014) of Computer Active, a test was made on a number of Antivirus programmes both paid-for and free. In their opinion Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 came top, 2nd place went to ESET Smart Security 7, 3rd was Norton Internet Security. In 8th place was Microsoft Security Essentials which even Microsoft themselves don't rate highly and yes, bottom of the pack at No. 9 was McAfee Internet Security which comes free when you sign up to B.T.
So, do you agree with this survey or not? If the majority of reader's do agree, should we try and persuade B.T. to make a deal with Kaspersky, ESET or Norton?

McAfee/ BT Netprotect, consistently comes out at the bottom of review tables. It also causes problems on some computers and is generally very poor. I would recommend anybody that has it to remove it and use a decent antivirus.
If you check out the boadband packages you will see that in most of them except the vary basic package it's "free". The reason it's free is because nobody would pay for such a poor product.

FIRMWARE N MOBILE SECURITY 4.0 ON N-70

I did a firmware upgrade yesterday and it went fine till I noticed that the Symantec Mobile Security 4.0 which was pre-installed on my phone could not not be found anywhere on the phone. I can locate it on the memory card through Application Manager but I can't do much from there and when I check to see the "certificate", it says "Problem: Unable to locate root certificate". The Nokia website says only to back-up "contacts, messages and images" as they will be lost in some phone models. They do not mention anything about applications and softwares installed on the phone. Can anybody help me out in restoring this software back on my phone without having to pay for it. The software was valid for almost 2 years. Any ideas?

I tried a lot to re-install the software before I put up my post but couldn't do so from within the phone. Then it occurred to me to try from the card reader and even there I couldn't locate the file. Later I ticked the option to show the hidden files and I could see it. So I had to copy the .sis file onto the PC and then from there install it on the phone. But now I am getting a validity period of only 6 months as opposed to the the previous 18-20 months. For future reference if you could explain to me how I can directly re-install files from within the phone menu, that would be great. Thanx a lot for your response. I greatly appreciate it.

One problem I'm having is find the perfect streaming settings for the movies. I did check them on a fast Windows machine and on a brand new Mac at the local CompUSA store. Things worked well on their very fast Internet connection but the longer concept video didn't seem to want to stream. I'm almost thinking to grab some JumpCut or YouTube code and insert it just to get it to work. I know this will put their logos in but I'm just not sure what to do.
One thing I'm aware of and something I did do on purpose is that I made the background images very large -- to accomodate those wealthy folks with the very big, very wide monitors. I wanted never to run out of background "virtual" world no matter how big one stretched the browser window. Also, the necessity to scroll was intentional. Let me know if this is too annoying.

Office 2013 vs SharePoint 2010 - Unable to check out documents to SharePoint drafts folder

My company is foisting Office 2013 on us without upgrading SharePoint 2010 Enterprise. One of the issues I have discovered since receiving Office 2013 is that SharePoint no longer provides the option to save checked out documents to my local drafts folder.
This is despite having Office set to save checked-out files to the server drafts location and the Office Document Cache Handler enabled in IE9. Is there a registry setting or something I can change that will re-enable this feature?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to re-enable the add-on Office Document Cache Handler in IE9.
We can re-enable the add-on in IE9 using Group Policy:
Launch the Group Policy Editor.
Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Security Features > Add-on Management >
Add-on List.
Set this policy to 'Enabled'.
In the Add-on List, add the CLSID of BHO (Browser Helper Object) (i.e.) {B4F3A835-0E21-4959-BA22-42B3008E02FF} as the ‘Value Name’ and 1 as the 'Value'.
Log out of the machine and log back in again for the setting to take effect.

I think i got ripped off by this verizon store , I got the 4 line $140.00 edge plan, which I had to pay for the phone in monthly payment, i did the math it was 268.00 total.. At check out this guy charge me $50.00 care package for each phone and sim card

Read only Sub Project Plans checking out in EPM

Hi all,
Has anyone working on Project Server come accross an issue where sub project plans inserted as 'Read Only' in a master Plan, check out and therefore prevent other access? Working on Project Server 2010 with Project 2010 SP2
clients.
The strange thing is that its not every single plan in a master that performs in this manner.
Has anyone seen this behaviour and does anyone know any fixes?

We've always had security on, the only thing that changed was my understanding of how we were doing security.
Before, I had written a custom UserCC that always returned the same name, after I used the standard UserCC. I had the same results both time.
The cause of my error message is "MDS repository may be configured incorrectly", which I kind of figured, but there's nothing to point me to diagnose how it is incorrectly configured or how to fix it.
