Me acaban de robar la macbook mc322 con numero de serie C0*******V7M y estoy intentando localizarla pero necesito el numero mac de la tarjeta de red? Creen que el personal de apple pueda enviarme esa informacion?

Recently, my brother passed away, and I am trying to access the drive on his 2008 Mac Mini via ethernet. The computer shows up fine, but when I try to connect, the connection fails. I tried logging in as a guest, as I do not have his password, with the same result. Any suggestions? What kind of computer do you have, a Mac or a PC? Starting or re-starting the MacMini while holding down the "T" key will put the MacMini into Target Disk mode. If you have a Mac with a Firewire/Thunderbolt port and connect it to the MacMini, that is in Target Disk mode, via the Firewire port, the MacMini will show up as an external drive.

Mountain Lion Mac Mini Server Ethernet Port Not Working

I am having trouble with my Mac Mini's ethernet connection. Defining a new network interface shows no ethernet adaptor. Reloading SL from DVD repaired. But SL update lost ethernet again. Will Lion Fix?

I am having trouble with my mac mini ethernet. It had been working for weeks after an update to SL 10.6.8.
Once it went out and i repaired it by defining a new connection from System Preferences ->Network->(left panel service, +).
But yesterday, after a power up. my ethernet was not working again. I tried this old trick to repair it, but the interface choices
listed for '+' a new service did not include Ethernet any more. And the Utilities->System Profiler->Ethernet Cards shows
no ethernet available.
As a last ditch effort i reloaded my original SL from DVD. (I think it was version 10.6.4 but i could be mistaken on the version).
The ethernet worked! But KeyNote wasn't going to work because apparently the version i purchased depends on 10.6.8.
So I upgraded again to SL 10.6.8 (Plus some other updates like AirPort which i don't use).
Now the Ethernet is not working again. I see the same symptoms as before with the Ethernet seeming not installed.
Is this a problem seen by others?
Would going to Lion fix the problem?
Could AirPort actually be the culprit and not SL?
If i stay with my original SL, would i need to repurchase a version of KeyNote for the older version of SL?

While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):

Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

Can 2 Macs connect with ethernet cable to share DVD for remote install?

Can I simply connect a Mac Mini Server and MacBook together with an ethernet cable?
I want to reinstall Mac OS X Server on the DVDless Mac Mini. There is no separate AirPort device.

According to page 57 of the Getting Started 10.6 server manual, you can use a Mac with a DVD drive operating in target disk mode for this. I see no mention of using Ethernet so I assume it is not supported. Even if it was, it would be extremely slow compared to using FireWire target disk mode.

Hi everyone..
im having troubles using Airplay on my mac.. i connect my mac to the internet and home network using an ethernet connection to my router (non apple branded router) .. my apple tv 2 is connected to my home wifi network from the same router.. when i first set up my apple tv.. i was able to see the Airplay icon on itunes and it would let me Airplay media from my mac to my apple tv.. however.. it disconnects after a little while.. same thing with viewing my itunes library from apple tv.. i was able to detect my shared library from the apple tv.. i was able to play some media but then it disconnected after some time.. but now.. the Airplay icon doesnt show up in itunes anymore.. and i cant see my shared library from my apple tv neither.. ive looked around for a solution and followed the tip to turn the ipv6 off.. it worked for some time but now the problem is back..
i know the obvious solution is to connect my mac to the same wireless network as my apple tv.. but i would like to keep it connected through ethernet..

I wouldn't say that was the obvious answer at all, my Mac is connected by ethernet and 6 of my 7 Apple TV's are connected by wifi, I haven't had any of your problems. The problem is most likely on your network.
Intermittent problems
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
Consistent Problems
A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.

How can I get on the internet with my newly purchased used G5 Power Mac if my ethernet port failed?

We just bought our son a used G5 Power Mac, but when we got it home and tried to hook it up to the internet, no luck. We changed ethernet calbes, tried plugging directly into wall cable (by-passing router), even tried to do manual config, but no luck. I took it to the Genius Bar today and they said the ethernet plug was broken, and they did not have anything for a "vintage" machine like this.
The Genius Bar tech told me to buy a USB Network Adaptor, however no one (Best Buy, Radio Shack, even searched the internet) seems to have them for Mac. What can I do to get this puppy connected to the internet and how much would it cost? Did we get screwed?

Mac mini slow ethernet

We recently hooked up my wife's mac mini (2.26 Core 2 Duo, 2GB Ram, System 10.6.8) and have been unable to get wired or wireless speeds higher than 1.5mb DL and about 1mb UL. Despite the fact that my MacBook (circa 2006 model, 2 ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB, System 10.6.8) gets 15-17mb DL / 5-7mb UL wirelessly or wired from the same spot.
Ping on the Mini varies, but has been as little as 25ms. I have checked the network settings on both and they seem to be the same. I have changed the QoS settings on the router to no avail, I have reset the DNS servers with no change, I have removed and had the system reinistalled on the mini. It just seems to be throttled down and I can't get it to work.
Again, this is both via airport wireless AND via ethernet.

Here is a screen print with the data from the network tool and a "speedtest" result in the background. As you can see, the speeds aren't consistent. They are consistently SLOW, from .3MB to 1.5MB DL, but inconsistent otherwise. This is wired connection. I also failed to mention this speed issue is with both Safari and Chrome, so it doesn't seem to be related to Safari.

Power Mac G5 PCI Ethernet Drops Internet or always loading.

I have a very weird problem.
The ethernet card on my Power Mac stopped working and I bought a PCI Ethernet card to replace it. I also have the Airport Card installed and the wireless internet works perfect but it is not ideal to stream video to my PS3 or my Macbook.
The PCI card presents a very particular problem, when I connect using the PCI ethernet, I try opening Safari with apple.com as Home page and it never loads, it loads to the middle and stays there. If I try loading another page after like iPhone blog, sports or google, it loads fine and seems to be ok. If I try YouTube or Google video, it happens again and it freezes.
I have tried the following:
Open Firefox and since Firefox has Google as Home page, it loads just fine but after browsing 2 - 4 websites it sort of freezes.
Erase the network location and network setting for PCI ethernet.
Physically change the slot of the card on the Power Mac.
I got the PCI Card replaced by a new one and still same problem.
Change the cable, router port (I have a Time Capsule).
I would like to know if there's any way to identify this problem to the card or the computer or the network settings. It is very weird and I don't know if I buy a PCI wireless 802.11 n card will be different?
I did a speed test and gave me 9372 kbps download speed and 732 kbps uploard speed but as I write this topic the progress bar is stuck at the middle and is still like loading the page.
I would appreciate any suggestions and Help!!

Also if it might work without the drivers, did you try it previously with the driver not installed?
As a test, you can try creating a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane. Log out and log in to the new account. Do you have the same problem in the new account? If you do not, the problem is somewhere in your current user account. If you do have the same issue, the problem is with your overall system or with hardware.
If the latter (the issue recurs in more than one user account), do you have a place, such as a second internal drive or external FireWire drive, where you can install a fresh Mac OS X system, and boot from it? If it works with a new installation, you have narrowed the problem down to your current overall system. You can focus your trouble-shooting there. Or you can do an +Archive and Install+ option re-install. This option will give you a fresh system while preserving your user data, but be sure to do a backup of at least your personal data in case something bad happens.
If you have the same problem with a fresh system installation, this product is somehow not compatible with your hardware.

How can I connect to another Mac using only Ethernet while Wifi is on?

I have a MBP 2013 (Late) running Mavericks and I would like to connect to my other Mac (via a switch) through Thunderbolt Ethernet.
Basically I would like to connect only via ethernet to my other mac.
I would in the mean time like to leave my Wifi on the MBP so that i can access the internet etc..
So the problem is my mac (MBP) would jumpt to wifi to connect to my other Mac Pro (the mac pro has wifi on as well)

They can be connected directly or via an existing network. Turn on File Sharing for the computer that will be sending files.
Using Migration Assistant will work best if the two computers are connected via Firewire cable. This assumes both computers have Firewire ports.
