NsAppShell:Event Window: firefox.exe- Application Error

Since downloading Ff4 when closing the program I receive this error message;
nsAppShell:Event Window: firefox.exe- Application Error
The instruction a "0x77f87f6d" referenced memory at "0x7c59c44a". The memory could not be "written".
Click OK to terminate the program.
How can I resolve this issue? I am on an older OS (2000 pro) with 2Gigs memory and P-4 processor (if this information helps).

You do not need to start Firefox to disable the Java Quick Starter, you can do that via the Java Control Panel (Control Panel > Java > Advanced)
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

This AccessibleMarshal.dll error seems to have a long history --- posts from 2006 with early Firefox versions had issues similar to yours.
There is a link and an excerpt below which could be worth checking in your case,
particularly since it mentions the problem would occur on a clean install (no previous instance of Firefox on the system and Windows before Vista --??)
    Have a look here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=712960
    and the post to read:

Add the Win32 redistributable directory to the mozconfigs"
"Somehow we missed shipping the Win32 Redistributables from Visual C++. We didn't detect this as it would only show on Windows versions less than Vista, and you'd probably only see it if you had a completely clean install, and you didn't have the dlls installed elsewhere (as it appears my XP system does)."
"If you're seeing this then you want to copy the following files from a Firefox installation:
    Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest
    msvcm80.dll
    msvcp80.dll
    msvcr80.dll
The patch I'm attaching updates our configuration files to specify the Win32 redistribution directory, which will then cause the build system to include the files in the build."
    .... ends....
The earlier 2006 instances also had the same issue in some cases:

  • Getting Firefox.exe Application Error on closing firefox

Hi I have Firefox Browser 29.0.1 and on Windows XP - and I am the least tech savvy person ever. Every time I close The Browser / Firefox I get a pop-up screen Firefox.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x0301230e" referenced memory at "0x00000004", The memory could not be "read" click on OK to terminate the program. It dosen't appear to be affecting the operation of anything, but is annoying, regardless of whether I click OK or just close the box with "X" nothing happens - but I'd like to get rid of this, if possible

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].

Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • Firefox.exe-application error. the application failed to initialize (0xe06d7363)

The icon for Firefox 5 when pressed will show the following message firefox.exe-application error. the application failed to initialize (0xe06d7363) It does that 90% of the time then other times starts right up.

You should never respond to such unrequested pop-ups.
Doing that is the way to get malware as no decent program would use such methods to inform you about that.
Always use a close X to close such a pop-up and never click a button.
If you want to install malware then you make all buttons do that including a No or Cancel button.
Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

When I open Firefox I get the following error: firefox.exe application error - The instruction at 0x02c38690 referenced memory at 0x02c38690 - The memory could not be written - Click on OK to terminate the program.
If you click on OK it closes Firefox - You can not reopen Firefox until you reboot the computer. Then it starts all over again.
The same happens if I click the "X" instead on the error window.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

  • DDE server window; itune.exe-application error

Can t open itune: DDe server window: itune.exe-application error. Then, instruction at 0x6d561040 memory could not be read.  P.S.: the code change every time i click ok.

I do not know the answer to this, but if you are willing to to do some troubleshooting:
Which version of windows are you using?
XP vista or 7, 64 bit or 32 bit.
Do you have Quicktime? If so does Quicktime launch?
Did you change anything on your computer just before this problem started?
Please look in the Event viewer for a helpful error message.
    To open the event viewer:
    Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Event Viewer
Or type Event Viewer into the search box.
    Then select Windows Logs>>Application
Open the Event viewer immediately after iTunes crashes.
The error message should be at or near the top.
Double click on it to open more information and press copy.
Paste the result into your post.
You are looking for a message starting something like this:

  • I get firefox.exe Application Error memory could ot be read, instruction 0x10008d37.

When I first open firefox, a window opens in the center of the screen. The title of the window is firefox.exe-Application Error there is a red circle with a white x on the left side of the box. Written in the box is: The instruction at 0x10008d37 referenced memory at 0xfffffff. The memory could not be read. then it gives two choices. Click on ok to terminate the program or Click on cancel to debug the program. Cancel and ok shuts down firefox. If you move the box out of the way, you can use firefox to surf the net.

Thanks for the advice. I am afraid I may have bigger issues than my initial problem. I have not been able to load Firefox 8. It will go through the initial steps, then stop, without completing the update. I will try again after i figure out how to get 8 loaded.
