NSU 1.4.16en stuff up
Want to re-install my firmware for N918Gb as there is a virus in my phone, but when i use NSU V 1.4.16en it gives an option for re-install, but after a few moments says that there are no updates available for ur phone and gives me 2 options, "try again" or "exit"
Need to get the virus out of my phone please help!!

NSU/Nokie Connectivity Cable issues
I've tried running the software updater. amd it just comes up with an error:
nsu_ui_client.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. (this running version 1.3.40en)
I have attempted to download the NSU from the Nokia Website which is successfull and then attempted to install it. I get prompted that it needs to Install the Nokia Connectivity Cable and then as it does this, it kills my ethernet controller and I lose all internet connectivity.
I then have to restore my PC back to a previous point to enable the Ethernet controller again.
I have successfully update the Phone (N70) previously, but for some reason can longer run the existing NSU installation on my Pc or install a new Version without killing my ethernet Controller.
Any Help gratefully received.
CheersHere is some stuff that you can try;
In a self troubleshooting effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.
If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed, and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then as Jay has stated, perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct. -
6280 is Supported ON NSU but Known as 6288
6280 is supported on NSU but however it will not say 6280 before you download the Nokia Software Updater from the main nokia page..
Download the latest Nokia Software Updater & then connect 6280 & go throught the steps...it will either say 6.10 or 6.43 or below depending on ur network variant..

6280 uses same hardware as 6288 so why cant it be supported on NSU? is this misleading information or does nokia want 6280 users to upgrade there phone? I fink it all misleading information n false marketing gimmick...
someone from Nokia on this discussion said it dont support dis stuff or summat but wat i can say that it load of **bleep** coz der liers n they have been told by head of Nokia to say **bleep** information...

just a reply would be a start!Thanks for that. It confirms my suspicions that the problem is probably either with their site, or more likely the NSU software. I expect since there aren't loads of complaints, it's a problem only caused/highlighted by very specific situations e.g. firmware versions, model numbers etc.
I did wonder if I tried a different version of firmware would it work, but as it tells me specifically which version is Orange branded etc relating to the model number, I really don't want to break my phone!
It really doesn't inspire confidence though. Before I even started with the software, I was already worried about upgrading and in two minds about doing it. I may give up with it for now, since I don't need to upgrade really. The main reason was because I wanted to get the assisted GPS stuff working, although in the list of "fixes" for the newer version there are other things which sounded good; better battery life, quicker camera etc. All things I can do without for now.
Other than the odd crash here and there, I'm very pleased with the phone. I don't seem to have nearly as many problems with it as a lot of people mention on these forums.
I did manage to update my maps software to the latest version, even though I'm running older firmware though, and this has made things a lot better. I think the maps software I did have gave me the most problems of all the installed software! The newer version is a vast improvement.
At some point in the future I will download NSU again and give it another go. The "bug" if it is that will probably be fixed by then and I might have a better reason to upgrade too! The nearest Nokia service centre to me is too far away for a quick visit, so I won't bother with that.

I have an N85 8GB, running version 15.0.015 firmware. According to the web site, version 20.0.016 is available, so I tried to install NSU onto my PC, running Windows 2000 SP4, which according to the prerequisites on the site is fine.
But when I try to install it, it tells me it's not supported on this operating system!
Surely they haven't removed support for a version of Windows? (Why would they do that? It's not as if there's something vital in Windows XP that it needs - I can't think NSU is anything much more than a comms program!).
I'm certainly not going to stuff Bill Gates' pockets any further by getting a later Windows version, so how can I update my phone? Is an earlier version that does have the prerequisites listed available somewhere? (Same question for the PC suite, which does say it needs XP SP2 or later).

Unfortunately you can't as once a new version is released, old version ceases to operate. A new version appeared only days ago so the goal posts may have moved again so to speak.

Why does NSU need to download 75MBs of data?
Last time when I tried to restore my N73 ME's firmware to 3.0705.1.0.31, I noticed that it waited till it downloaded stuff of around 75MB! Is there an alternate way so that we can download this offline from NSU, and later update the phone's firmware?
Also, is any new version released now?

You can create a new Apple ID without using a credit card for download free apps by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534. Follow it exactly as writtien. Note that you have to download and try to install a free app and then create the ID.

If it says your billing info is wrong that means that your credit card issuer is refusing to approve your account. You will have to solve the problem with your bank or credit card company.

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. I have gone on both accounts and allowed "sharing" but for some reason when i click on finder>macintosh HD> then users and then click on the other account, all the stuff is locked.
I just need pictures and music off of the other one..how do I do this?
Thanks!log into the other account and copy the pictures to some folder both accounts have access to like the folder /Users/Shared. then log into the first account copy the pictures from that folder to the first account. same with music.
P.S. don't copy the folder Music and Pictures themselves. copy what's inside.

I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?
Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this. -

All Unplayed Podcasts - Not Syncing
