NSU version update fails because nossu2dm.dll was ...

On my Windows XP SP3 (32-bit) system I am running Nokia PC Suite 7.1.180.46, using it to manage two phones: N8-00 and XpressMusic 5800 (North American versions).  For a month or so now, Nokia Software Updater (installed version is 3.0.495) tells me that a newer version is available, and downloads it, but installation always fails with this message:
fix2200qt.exe - Unable To Locate Component
This application has failed to start because nossu2dm.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I found the DLL in question in the installation folder, located here: C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Software Updater\nossu2dm.dll (version 2011.32.2.228) so I really don't know what fix200qt.exe is complaining about!
Searched this forum and the internet with no reports of this with a solution except to download nossu2dm.dll from non-Nokia sites.  Can anyone tell me what I need to do to resolve the problem? Nokia PC Suite is running fine, can I find a download of just NSU to re-install?
I'd really like to be able to update NSU in order to be able to install the update to N8-00 which it claims is available.  Thanks.

OK, I worked out a solution by looking at where Nokia NSU stores its files...
Since fix2200qt.exe was not able to find nossu2dm.dll which was in the Program files folder for NSU, I simply copied C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\NSU3\NOSSU2\updates\fix2200qt.exe into C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Software Updater\ and executed it from there where it was happily able to find the DLL and fix whatever it wanted to fix, and then continue to download NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup_EN_US.exe which launced and updated NSU to version 3.0.605
Sadly however, NSU won't update my N8 to Symbian Belle and wants me to install Nokia Suite after all this...   It did however, offer a 138MB upgrade to Real Golf :-{

    Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • I was updating Firefox from version 6 to version 7, after updating I tried to open Firefox and the message I got is this: This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. How can I fix this?

    I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

    For many users at this point in time (iTunes 11.1.4.62) uninstalling iTunes alone is not enough and they may need to undertake further steps...
    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:

    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support

By the way Bridge CS3 doesn't show up in the CS3 program list in the start menu but it is installed in my program files - I've tried launching it directly from there as well.     Did Bridge work before? If so, reset preferences by holding down the Ctrl key when starting Bridge. If successful you will get a Reset Window, choose all 3 options.
