NT Workstation datatbase creation failure
Hi I'm installing Oracle 9.0.1.1.1 on NT Workstation 4.0 with SPK 6. It doesn't complete the install. It fails on creating a startup database using the Database Configuration Assistant. It also fails when I attempt to run it manually. I've tried this on several of the Dell Laptops, It's stopping at the same point. It's not reporting a error. I'm at a lost of what it could be, any help would be appreciated. The Dell's have 4GB HDD and 256mb of memmory.
are you sure that you created the services.
if then, remove them, reboot, and try the installation procedure.
if it does not work, you can follow this procedure :
1. choose save scripts for the installtion,
2. create the service
3. split the script like that :
a) put the create database in create_db.sql
b) put the rest in config_db.sql
4. modify your bat file
5. create the database
6. when it's Ok, configure your db (dictionnary ...)
that whill work.

Database has 11.2.0.1 version and setup according installation guide(init parameters and so on...), what's wrong?

Open Directory Master creation failure.
I am running into consistent Failures while attempting to setup Open Directory Master on 10.8 server. It seems to fail in creating an Intermidiary CA and suggests there is already one. I have combed Keychain for, and removed any entires that refer to the suggested cert. Yet I am still unable to get this OD Master up and running. Here's the log files:

How are you generating the classes.jar for custom module?
Ear creation or runAssembler will not generate classes.jar. Do you have plugin to compile and create the jar file from the source folder?
Do you find the classes.jar in the ATG-ClassPath location mentioned in the MANIFEST.MF file?

FC disk not available after storage repository creation failure
Hi,
A storage repo creation job failed because of some network problems. After I fixed up the network problem, I can create another storage repo with another FC disk. When I try creating the failed storage repo again, the FC disk is no longer available for selection. Could the FC disk be left in a "half cooked" state? How can I clear the state and make it available again?
The log of the failed job seems to suggest rollback was completed.

End of JobDeleting the LUN sounds like a good clean way but unfortunately it did not work. After I recreated the LUN from the storage array, OVM is left with a "phantom" LUN which I cannot delete. Secondly I now get a OCFS2 lock which I don't know how to clear.

Documents COM object creation failure

We are using the DI API (2005) to access SBO database objects. The API call generally work fine, but we have a problem when creating order objects with the following code (using it's managed wrapper in C#):
Documents docs = conn.Connection.GetBusinessObject(BoObjectTypes.oOrders) as Documents;
getting the folloing exception: 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception..'. Creation of other objects (like BusinessPartners, Recordsets, ...) work fine, but as soon as we try to create one of the Document type object (oOrder, oInvoice) we get this error!

I use:

... Also make sure that the Documents-object is the SAP object (and not from another namespace, although I doubt it given the code you have shown)

IBooks Widget creation failures
Hi,
I am experiencing errors and failures when exporting to iBooks WDGT files from Edge Animate 2014.1.1
Sometimes the exported Widget is just OK, some other times, with no apparent reason, the .wdgt file lacks of the needed Info.plist document inside. It's just not there.
As a consequence iBooks Author rejects to insert the Widget as it shows an error of "A main HTML is not defined". I tried to created artificially this Info.plist from a working existing one and include into the Widget file with correct parameters, with no luck.
Someone else experimenting this erratic behavior when creating WDGT files from Animate?

I am attempting to do a test migration on a db from SQL 2K5 to Oracle 10g R1.
The server connections are both active and test successfully, when I attempt to create a repository, it appears to work, but when I then try to capture the SQL Server schema, the option is still greyed out in the right-click context menu.

Just for clarification. The capture menu is only activated once connected to a repository.
The steps are
1. Create a repository. This only needs to be done once. This is done by right clicking on a connection and choosing "Create repository". This will typically make this repository the current one. and connect it.
2. Right click on the 3rd party connection - the capture menu should be visible.
If it is not visible, we need to see why. Here's a couple of things to check:
If you go to Tools..Preferences..Migration The current default repository will be shown.
ensure you expand this connection (connecting will automatically open the repository) - The menu items should now be available.
If there is still a problem, there is another possibility - There is a known issue with repository creation on 9i - If you are running on 9i, check the packages on your repository - If one or any of these are marked invalid, please contact us via our feedback application (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=OMWBFDBK) for a workaround.

Hi all.
While dbca was creating the database power went down and it did not end. I was in windows with an ssh session connected to the server (solaris). The server took a lot of time to answer for all the commands and we reboot it. Can I try to create the db again? or must I make some verification before?
It is a 9.2.0.6 version.

My Setup is Windows Server 2012 R2, with the last hostfix list installed, CM 2012 R2 CU1 installed and trying the prestare a TS with a W8.1 U1 Capture.
I installed an aditional Server with the same configuration I migrated all the objects and in this other server it works ok. This confuse me even more.
Did you find the root couse of this issue? Do you have aditional information.

Create DB2 JDBC Creation Failure

I experienced what seems to be a bug in the creation of a DB2 datasource in WLS 10.3.6.
The problem is this:
- From the WL console I click on Services --> Data Sources
- I click New --> Generic Data Source
- In the first page I choose as Database type "DB2";
- In the selection of the driver I choose "Other";
- In the page of "Transaction Options" I don't change anything;
- In the page of "Connection Properties" I can't insert anything but username and password for the database! I can't see the field for db name, neither the host, etc... !! Obviously, even if I insert username and password and click Next (the button Finish is disabled), the server returns an error that i must complete the form to go on....
I got the same issue with different browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome).
Down there's a printscreen of what I see in the page of "Connection Properties". The page is translated in Italian.
I tried the same procedure on a WLP 10.3.5 installation, and it worked perfectly. In the page of "Connection properties" I can see all the fields and I can create the datasource correctly.

Dynamic structure creation failure for only some structures.
I have some code to dynamically create a structure and table based on some sap how to... documentation. It works perfectly for a number of structures but fails on the structure I wish to create.
'l_c_cube_write' in the code is the variable that defines which structure. This code is in BW, if I have an InfoCube YINFOCUBE then the code should create a structure and table based on structure /BIC/VYINFOCUBE2.
This code works fine when based on structure /BIC/VYINFOCUBEI but fails when based on structure /BIC/VYINFOCUBE2. These structures are generated for each InfoCube created in BW.
Looking at the two structure definitions in SE11 there are a few differences but it is not clear to me if these differences are causing the error.
Does anyone know why the error occurs and whether there is a way to avoid it.

Differences between structures:
The structure that fails also includes components 0INFOPROV and 1ROWCOUNT.
The structure that fails has components in the format 0MATERIAL, 0CALMONTH, etc. The structure that does not fail has components in the format MATERIAL, CALMONTH, etc.I encountered the above problem recently. It is a pain because it means you can't use MOVE-CORRESPONDING.
It's also not possible to define a structure statically with components beginning with numbers - though it is ok in the data dictionary.
e.g.
TYPES: BEGIN OF my_struc,
0COMPONENT TYPE...
END OF MY_struc.
Seems to me to be rather inconsistent!

DB creation failure [RAC, Suse and 9i]
We have managed to install 9i on a 2 server Linux cluster. All indications are that both nodes and the shared storage are up and running correctly. When we use dbca to create a clustered database, both nodes show up as install options.
However, when we attempt to create the new database, the install fails each time at 55% with a message regarding the file location <db name>rawtemp. The error is ORA 1257 "Cannot reuse raw_temp; unknown file size".
We have deleted the database after it has failed, and also deleted and recreated the /dev/raw location as well as the actual logical volume, all without success. Does anyone have a suggestion.

If I start a process with an empty environment other than DB_CONFIG, and the DB_CONFIG contains:

Then when the process tries to open the database file, it rejects it, saying that the physical file name is not valid:

Database 'DBDEFAULT_65536_D.db' - open failed: Invalid argument
It seesm that the open, despite being told to create the file if it does not exist, does not create it.
If I remove the DIRECT_DB flag, then run the same program, then everything works correctly. I can then set that flag and rerun the program and it still works correctly. It seems that creeat operations do not work correctly with DB_DIRECT_DB, at least on this Linux kernel.
Any ideas?
