NTFS-3G - Help setting up, and getting rid of .DS_Store files
Hello All,
I'm new to the Mac world so please bare with me. I installed this last night using a video from CNET on youtube, but the final command line they gave didn't work. I eventually mounted the disk and it seemed to work, however there were strange files and folders on the disk when I went back into Vista.
So I reinstalled everything and now I'm ready to try it again.
Could someone please give me a step by step way (step 1. Install Mac Fuse) of setting up Ntfs-3g and any command lines or anything I would need to use. Call me lame, but I don't understand the instructions as I keep finding different ones everywhere I look.
Secondly, could someone explain why I keep getting .DS_Store files and similar ones like that when I navigate into Windows? I realize these must be Mac system/meta files, but they're clogging up everything. Is there a way to either have them not be written, or be hidden/cleaned by vista.

actually, what would work awesome as well is a single directory where I could just put the files in that I need or want to modify....that would be another cool option if anyone knows how.

Help! Safari and trojan? How do I identify and get rid of it?
Please help me understand and get rid of this—your expertise sincerly appreciated! I posted about this problem a couple of weeks ago, but got no response. I seem to have a trojan attached to Safari (my analysis). It delays or stops loading of all pages, thumbnails don't load (such as in ebay), overall response is slow or freezes, etc. My console shows the following sets of messages whenever I try to open a page:

How do I identify this iskysoft, where it is located, and delete it?? Please help if you can.
I have followed all (possibly-related) advice I could find in the forums, including deleting all safari extensions, repeated cache empty, reload safari from scratch, delete safari library folders as admin and user, scan with sophos and intenet cleanup, etc. Finder doesn't locate anything named iskysoft on my computer, but the iskysoft website has to do with video conversion.
The slowdown has lasted since the end of 2010, but I just discovered the console messages a few weeks ago, and have been trying to understand and deal with that since.

Maybe it's not the iSkysoft causing the slow down. Check to see how much free space there is on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.*
Try using Spotlight (top right corner of your screen, the magnifying glass icon, to find the software.

Getting Rid of Preference Files of Unused Software
I have some files in HD/Library/Preference of programs I don't use anymore like World Book, and TechTool Deluxe Prefs. Some of these end in .plist. It would seem to me if I don't have World Book of Tech Tool Deluxe anymore, I should have no problems after trashing and getting rid of any files connected with these or any other programs that I no longer use and have gotten rid of.
Plist's are OK to delete...they don't take much room though and if the app still exists on your drive it will be recreated next time you start the app...I started using AppDelete for removing apps and all the associated files that go with them..

All of my photos are displayed as BW because somehow I've saved a quick develop preset and it saves as BW. This is for all of my photos. I can individually undo them but need help in how to get rid of the preset so all photos goes to Default or as shot. thanks
Go to the develop module and highlight all of the images in the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen. Then activate Auto-sync and click on the Reset button. That should reset all of the images to your camera default settings.

Something was hidden in a download and now these double green underlined hyperlinks show up everywhere, and pop ups too whenever I click on ANYTHING. I can't figure out how to find it and get rid of it.
You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:

Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
How do I find and get rid of a virus?
I was on a website called 'thedarehub.tv' to watch a movie, and when I went to click on a link to watch it, another window popped up and said "There was a virus on one of the pages and now your computer has a virus". (FYI, I did not download anything) I quickly closed out every window, but now I want to find the virus it said I had and get rid of it and clean my laptop. I thought Mac's couldn't get viruses...I guess I was mistaken. HELP!!!
You don't have a virus, or any other type of malware. There is no software in the world that can tell what is on another computer through a web browser.
Any such popup or web page is a scam. Either to sell you worthless software, or to call some number where they will fleece out of as much money as you're willing to cough up. -
How to install OSX on 2nd HD and get rid of 1st HD?
(thanks to this forum) I managed to install a second HD on my MacPro (I have to specify that I'm degree below z-e-r-o in hardware...).
now, my second HD appears on the desktop (it's set for 1 partition in D.U.)
AND THE BIG QUESTION IS:
HOW CAN I INSTALL OSX ON THIS NEW DISK AND GET RID (once it's done) OF THE OLD CRAPPY SEAGATE HD?
I know that it can be 'cloned' (I've read about for that here on the forum) but, is this the best thing to do? or shall I restart from the original APPLE CD? but how to do that...?
thanks!Why is your Seagate "crappy?" Is it not behaving well in some manner? Because if you were to clone, the exact software issues that it has would appear on the clone. If you simply erase and install on the second empty hard drive, none of the other hard drive's software issues would be present. However, I would make sure your data is backed up before installing anything, and attempt to isolate whatever issues you are having first. If there is nothing on the second hard drive, you can go ahead and install and find out if you have the same issues on that drive. Erase and install is one of the installation options from the installation disks included with your Mac Pro. Be careful not to erase and install your original hard drive unless you are totally backed up as my FAQ explains:

I downloaded something called MPlayerX and it is ruining my computer (a macbook pro) and now on safari theres pop up adds that shouldn't be there and on the google homepage theres adds. I want to know how to fix this and get rid of MPlayerX PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
MPlayerX isn't itself the problem; it was downloaded from a source that packaged adware with it. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.

since upgrading to 10.7.2 to use iCloud, i keep getting a window message with ubd wants to use the login keychain, i put the right password but it keeps coming back, anyone for help to how to get rid of this...
This is what I did and it seems to have worked so far. While that little annoying box is up you need to open the Keychain access by:
going to applications -> open utilities folder -> click to open Keychain Access
Now here is the stupid part, you have to continue to press the cancel button on the "ubd wants to use login keychain" box for the kaychain window to open. Once you have keychain access open go to:
the top of your monitor and select "Keychain Access" right next to the little apple logo -> click preferences in the options panel-> the preference box will open now -> click "Reset My Default Keychain" -> another box will pop up that says "Please enter your login password. This password will be used to create your new keychain" (of course this is assuming that you use a login password to access your mac) -> enter your login password and a box shows up that says "created a new empty 'Login' keychain"
After that you should be good to go. This new keychain you created with your login password overides the old keychain. The old keychain is still available in the Keychain's folder but is not being used and therefor can be deleted. All you have to do now is press ok, and your good. If the "ubd wants to use login keychain" box is still there after you reset your keychains just hit cancel and it should be gone for good or you can enter your login password.
Is this a fixall that will work forever? I have no idea but doing this has allowed me to access my network at work and all the servers I need to get to.
Oh and one more thing. You may need to press cancel on the ubd box throughout this entire process, I just gon in the habit of clicking a button hitting cancel on the ubd box and the new window would pop up.

here i am taking one material number and i am passing that mateial number by using 'set parameter id', the material number will be stored in ABAP-memory area 'MAT', and then i am calling the Tcode 'MM03', after executing the Tcode (from program) automatically 'MM03' will reads that material number from that ABAP-memory area and it will displays the 'MM03' tcode along with material number.
you can find the parameter-id's from data element of that field.
parameters: p_matnr like mara-matnr.
set parameter id 'MAT' field p_matnr.
call transaction 'MM03'.
