NTP through CSS

I can see from the threads in the forum that it is a bit of a struggle to get servers behind the CSS to successfully hit time (NTP) servers out in the real world. I want the four servers behind the CSS to each hit an outside server independantly.
I did read this thread, and implemented this workaround:
http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Emerging%20Technologies&topic=Content%20Networking&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Dpass_through%26location%3Doutline%40%5E1%40%40.ee905c2
Of course, the workaround only allows one server to synchronize time. It would work for us this way - we could set the one server as the NTP server for the remaining 3 behind the CSS, but for me it isn't ideal; I'd rather each server hit the NTP on the outside world.
Are there any additional solutions / workarounds to this issue?
Thank you!

If I disable source nating for NTP, how will the server behind the CSS get NTP from the outside world?
Theoretically I could NAT each server to a different IP, but am I able to then to make four content rules, each for NTP, each for a different VIP, and a different inside server? And I just answered my question while typing, which is yes, of course I can...I'll have to think about that.
We don't control the NTP source port, that isn't an option.
I like the ability to use ONE external IP address for all servers to talk to the outside world, instead of one per server. I'll mull this whole thing over.
Thanks, Gilles!

  • Access to x/y & width/height through CSS

    Why is it that setting a component's x, y, width and height is not supported through CSS when it is possible to alter its position and dimensions using left, right, top, bottom, horizontalCenter, verticalCenter etc?
    Obviously I understand that x,y, width and height are not styles, but given that they could easily be controlled by styles, I can't understand why this capacity is missing.

    Isn't it quite a high price to pay for losing the ability to write fully semantic code? In many situations it becomes impossible to separate position and dimension declarations from the tags representing the components. Ideally shouldn't we be able to perform all styling and layout from CSS as per HTML?
    Is this something that is set in stone, or is it something that might change at some point? Most CSS styles are set once at startup, so performance wouldn't be too much of a problem in a lot of cases.

  • Reg: Passing Image url through CSS Class

    Hi,
    How can i pass the image through Css class ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I am not sure if that can be done in css file though.
    I suppose you are using the backing bean for setting the skin (just read your old thread). If yes, you can add two images to your page and set the visible property according to the current skin. Something like
    <af:image id="i1" source="../images/first_logo.gif" visible="#{seesionScope.currentSkin == 'First'}"/>
    <af:image id="i2" source="../images/second_logo.gif" visible="#{seesionScope.currentSkin == 'Second'}"/>
    If i select Second CSS file then the logo will be change according to the style class defined in First CSS file .AFAIK, the company logo would be static ;) .

  • Https service doesn't works through CSS

    I have 2 CSS 11501, and they work fine.
    The only problem that has is that it doesn't work one of the content HTTPS.
    This is the configuration that I have:
    service server54
    ip address 172.16.10.46
    keepalive port 443
    keepalive type tcp
    active
    service server55
    ip address 172.16.10.146
    keepalive port 443
    keepalive type tcp
    owner https
    content web
    vip address 10.102.1.28
    add service server54
    port 443
    protocol tcp
    application ssl
    advanced-balance ssl
    add service server55
    active
    group web
    vip address 10.102.1.28
    add service server52
    add service server53
    add service server54
    add service server55
    active
    I've left only one of the services active. In the CSS I see the requests but no package comes to the server.
    The http service has the same addresses and does not have any problem.
    What can happen?

    Hello,
    Did you check that the service is alive? (CSS# show service summary)
    Did you check that the CSS is showing service hits for that content rule? (CSS# show summary) when you are doing requests?
    If the users are the ones that are opening the connections, please change the group configuration:
    group web
    vip address 10.102.1.28
    add destination service server52
    add destination service server53
    add destination service server54
    add destination service server55
    active
    After trying all above, if you keep having the problem, the best way to know what is happening is get simultaneous captures, in the switch(s) where the CSS is directly connected, and you will see the CSS receiving the traffic, and forwarding the traffic to the backend servers.
    You will confirm or at least you will see if the CSS is not the problem.

  • Snmp THROUGH css

    Hi,
    I am trying to monitor some hosts, using SNMP, behind our CSS11501.
    I Read The Fine Manual, and eventually got
    something working, but it broke DNS on the hosts.
    I removed the Group statements, and now DNS works, but not SNMP.
    Anyone have any clues on this? the relevant config info is below.
    Thanks in advance.
    flow-state 161 udp flow-enable
    !************************** SERVICE **************************
    service APP1

    group snmp-app2
    vip address 192.168.16.19
    add service APP2

    you should try to add to the group config 'portmap disable' and also add
    'flow-state 53 udp flow-disable nat-enable'
    or
    'flow-state 53 udp flow-enable'
    If this does not work, capture a sniffer trace font-end and backend and verify what the CSS does with the DNS traffic.

  • Applying Gradient through css in spark application of gumbo

    I want to apply gradient colors just like we did in flex 3 using css.
    How to achieve the same for s:Application ?

    That changed in the new architecture:
    you need to drop something like this in your main app or create a new skin for the main app and drop it in there:
        <!-- background -->
        <s:Rect left="0" right="0" top="0" bottom="0">
            <s:fill>
                <s:LinearGradient>
                    <s:GradientEntry ratio="0" color="#ff00ff"/>
                    <s:GradientEntry ratio="1" color="#00ff00"/>
                </s:LinearGradient>
            </s:fill>
        </s:Rect>
    Need to play with the gradient but ration and color values but you get the picture...
    The old way does not apply anymore as far as I can tell ...
    You can define your own backgroundGradientColor read it in the custom skin updateDisplayList and do the drawing yourself, but I am not sure it is worth the effort.

  • NTP through ASA

    I am trying to setup NTP from a router that is behind an ASA. I am trying to sync it with time.nist.gov (UDP port 123). However, the "sh asso det" list the NIST server as "insane and invalid". The ASA does do a source NAT and also changes the source port. When I use my backup internet connection that is a DSL modem then NTP work fine, different NAT address. On the ASA, for NTP, the packets are getting NAT'ed and UDP session is built. After 2 minutes the session is tore down.
    Here is the syslog message:
    Built outbound UDP connection 186440 for ouside:216.229.0.179/123 (216.229.0.179/123) to inside:172.16.64.4/123(xx.xx.xxx.xxx/409)
    I have forced the NAT so that the source port stays 123 after NAT but no change.
    Appreciate any input.

    NTP shouldn't care what your source port is, as long as the destination is udp/123.
    Since it looks like the udp flow is being setup, I'd suspect something upstream isn't getting your packets to the destination NTP server.

  • CSS (some, not all) not showing up in browser, but fine in DW. Plus other desperate issues....

    I would really appreciate any and all help I can get to solve these problems as I'm new to CSS/HTML (completely new) and have been attempting to code my design just well enough to get it uploaded and working as a site. Once I can atleast achieve this feat, I plan on completely converting to CSS. But for now, I need to get the site working and I really didn't want to come and bother all of you on here with my problems and have been procrastinating posting on here for absolutely ages now....but since I can't figure all of the messy-uppy ness going on on my own, I beg forgiveness for any of your time wasted on my problems .
    Okay, so the "main" issue here is that I can see some(some, not all) CSS on DW, but I see NONE whatsoever when I go to preview in browser, same after uploading. I do have all of the files uploaded and placed in the correct directories, including the stylesheet, and images folder. But, nope, nada. Now, I did think this was a root/directory problem, maybe the url's weren't pointing to the right directories. I checked and attempted to fix this several times and any changes made no difference. Also, uploaded to the root of my site, where all files and folders are where they should be, yet no change. I am utterly clueless as to what is going on here....
    Second: Padding, or margins added through CSS for the divs is simply not working in DW or otherwise. I have padding placed on all of the content type areas with writing/content in them and despite the fact that the changes to the font/text formatting I've made show up, the padding does not. This is only in DW since no CSS whatsoever is showing out of DW anyways. I would like to know how to get the padding and the formatting, just all of the CSS in general to actually show up in browser/when uploaded.
    Third: The next issue is also confusing, and this only occured after I made the page into a template and uploaded the home.htm page I created from it to my site. For some reason, the image called "../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif". Is appearing at the very top of the page for no reason at all. I don't understand why it is there, or how it even got up there in the first place.
    Fourth: This was actually next on my list of things to figure out once I've gotten all of the above issues taken care of but since I'm still drawing a blank after 2+ weeks on how to get this done in a way that will work I guess it couldn't hurt to ask on here and get some expertise on the matter. The issue is that I have a repeating background (images/bg.png) that I want stretching downwards as I add content to the page. I have this placed as the main background for the entire site as you will be able to see in a moment through my code/site. Now, the place I want this to start is from where the aforementioned image (../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif) stops. However, I want the content to actually start from 20 pixels or so from the top of that very image. I want to try and achieve this through the use of margins but since the margins and padding are not showing up I hve been unable to experiment with it enough to figure out any other way to achieve this.  Any suggestions on how to achieve this would be much appreciated.
    Fifth (yes, unfortunately we're still going): As you may be able to see through the design I have two seperate areas for the main content and the navigation and other such items to be placed. To clarify, the content will be placed(through the use of expandable content boxes, once I figure out how to work that) beginning at the aforementioned image/td/div (../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif) with a bit of padding or margin from the top and sides (too pull the content towardsthe center of the site rather than all over from left to right like it is appearing now). The navigation etc will be placed where the long cyan area is under the search bar. For both of these, I cannot figure out how to split my one background image and also the content_marg.gif image into the two divs/or whatever else would work to split their contents from eachother. I think that seperating them into 2 divs with padding from the sides and eachother and seperate top paddings (I want the navigation to begin more near the top of the page than the content). The issue here is, I cannot figure out how to do this.
    Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips on how to achieve the code for the solutions provided would also be very much appreciated, as I am only just starting out coding.
    The site/page:
    http://aurora.comeze.com/home.htm
    The stylesheet (style.css):
    http://aurora.comeze.com/style.css
    Like I mentioned above, all of this except the padding shows up in DW. Whereas, none of this shows up at all in browser view, or through the site.

    Hi James,
    I see the scrollbars now but now I also see what you mean :(
    I think the easy fix is to create a class and apply it to
    every single
    td that has the text/image/heading to give them a fixed
    width! (Maybe
    only applying it to the top td's would do the trick... I'm

    Hope it made some sense

    Hi,
    The location of your images directory depends on how you setup your APEX instance. Do you know which database version you're using? And whether you've configured your APEX instance to use the embedded gateway, which would be the default configuration on Oracle XE and 11g. Or did you setup APEX with mod_plsq or the APEX listener? Assuming you've installed XE, and you're using the embedded gateway, then your images are actually stored in the database (XML DB), and you would need to access your images folder via FTP or WebDAV. There are several blog posts out there that talk about how to connect to the images folder via FTP, here's one: http://www.apex-blog.com/oracle-apex/accessing-i-using-ftp-170.html If you're using any of the other configurations, your images directory would simply be a local folder on the machine running your web server.
    As for creating a theme, there isn't really a "guide" out there that documents how to build a new theme. But the theme structure, templates, etc are documented in the APEX user guide. To start building a new theme, I would recommend starting out with an existing one that you like, ideally one that was recently modernized by us. I would recommend themes 21-23 as starting points. And then I would create a CSS file to overwrite some of the classes in the theme CSS file, rather than directly modifying the CSS file that ships with APEX. You should also use tools like Firebug, or the built-in developer functions in Chrome/Safari to try out different CSS settings. With our modernized themes you should be able to get most customizations done through CSS. So I would suggest staying away from actually altering the templates as much as possible, at least in the beginning.

    Marc

  • CSS issue when changing the table row height to 16px

    Hello,
    After changing the table row height through css like this:
    .table-row-cell, .table-cell {
    -fx-cell-size: 16;
    the table rows are correctly displayed with a 16px height but the cell bottoms seem to be incorrectly set.
    For example the following css style (a red 3px bottom border):
    .table-cell {
    -fx-border-width: 0 0 3 0;
    -fx-border-color: red;
    doesn't work anymore with the new row height whereas it works with the 24px standard row height.
    While investigating with Scenic View, I noticed that changing the row height changes the TableRow layoutBounds height (from 24px to 16px so that's ok) but not the boundsInParent height which remains to 27px. I think it should become 19px (16 + 1.5 + 1.5). I don't know if it's a bug.
    Anyway, any help making the css red border working for a 16px row height would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bruno.

    Q: Would this help to just use absolute div tags and give me 'ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTE' positioning?
    No.  APDivs are not a good primary layout method.  Use default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all).  Align page elements with margins, floats and padding.
    See example -- 2-Column CSS Layout with Grids
