NTSC & PAL in one sequence?

Does anyone know if I can I can mix and match my PAL & NTSC footage within one sequence? Thanks.

Hello Pumelke,
you can probably do that (I never tried), but I wouldn't recommend it ... the output will be terrible.
My advice would be to convert the PAL footage to NTSC and edit in an NTSC timeline - for two reasons:
1. converting from PAL to NTSC - IMHO - looks a bit better than the other way around
2. if your final product is a DVD (guessing here, obviously) it will be playable almost anywhere: PAL players accept NTSC discs, whereas the opposite will probably not work.
for standard conversions have a look at JES Deinterlacer (http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html). It does a very good job and is freeware
hope this helps

  • Combine NTSC & PAL clips in same project & sequence

    My project uses both NTSC and PAL DV clips. I've finished logging in all NTSC clips and I'm getting started logging in PAL clips. Any suggestions in logging in PAL ---besides changing Easy Setup to PAL. I'm concerned about having both formats in my browser. Will it crash FCP? One Creative suggested creating separate bins to log into. Another Creative suggested creating a separate project for just the PAL material. But, then, how do I use both NTSC clips and PAL clips in the same sequence?? *Help, please!!!*

    You can have many different formats in your project but you can only have one sequence setting. You must choose what the output format will be, NTSC or PAL. You can do both but if I recall, the procedure's really complicated. You'll make a copy of your NTSC sequence and change it to PAL but it's not that easy. All of your renders will be gone, just for starters.
    The manual has a large section on combining different formats, start there, not here.
    You obviously have a deck capable of playing both formats?

  • Used to, but now can't detect a NTSC/PAL external monitor.

    This has come up in this forum as well as others in the past. Here is the syndrome:
    1. iBook (or other) is hooked up to an external NTSC/PAL monitor (in my case a Sumsung LCD TV) via the mini-VGA/S-Video out.
    2. Works perfectly for some period of time, days to years, as far as I've seen people post.
    3. Suddenly, iBook does not recognize the external NTSC monitor, and outputs crap onto the monitor.
    4. Detect display in the preferences only gives the native LCD (ibook) and a VGA external monitor.
    5. This doesn't go away, and no one has found a way to make it go away.
    Anyone figure out what the crap is going on with this? ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION???

  • G4 with OS X 10.4.11 and DVD's in various formats (NTSC, PAL, SECAM).

    Can a G4 AGP Graphics “Sawtooth” running OS X 10.4.11 Tiger play DVD's in the various regional formats (such as NTSC, PAL, and SECAM) an unlimited number of times, or is there a limit to how often the capability to play a particular format can be switched to the capability to play a different one?

    Using an application such as VLC should optimize format playability.  It may also help with the region code issue.  The "number of times" isn't to do with the DVD format, it has to do with region codes set into the DVD by the media distributors.  You can change that 5 times and then the DVD player is locked in forever. Try VLC and it may help with both the format playback and maybe get around the region code issue (disable Apple's own automatic DVD Player activation).

  • Apple TV/FM Card NTSC - PAL switch?

    G'day,
    Long shot I know... but after opening my TAM on the weekend, and examining the TV/FM tuner card, I saw it was a Philips brand card. So I wrote to Philips Australia to see if they happened to have any laying around.
    No, they said, but - some of their TV tuner cards were "switchable" between formats... I was told.
    I've put the TAM back together again now, and would rather not open it back up for nothing...
    Can anyone out there shed light on this? Apple only have 1 reference number for the TV/FM card - they don't distinguish between regions - NTSC, PAL, or SECAM. Could this be because they just have to flick a switch on the card to tell it which zone it's in???
    I do realise that the cards also have different connectors... (NTSC has screw-on antenna connectors, whereas PAL and (I think) SECAM have just slide-on ones) But is that all the difference? and you just flick a switch somewhere for the region?
    Cheers
    cosmic

    The video input standard is selected in the Apple Video Player program, so there's no need for different verions of the TV or TV/FM card. The correct video input standard (NTSC, PAL, or SECAM) for your region is pre-set, according to the region version of the Apple OS that was installed. To change the setting, select "Preferences" within the Apple Video Player program. In addition to the video input standard, you'll find settings for movie compression and the remote control. An adapter is required to change the TV/FM card's coaxial "F" type connector to a different type. Here is the User Manual for the TV/FM card. It should provide you with answers to most questions that you might have.
    Incidentally, optional Apple input/expansion cards (like the TV/FM card) or specific components found on these cards are typically manufactured by well-known, third-party semiconductor companies, but the cards are considered "Apple" products. As such, third-party companies (like Philips) won't stock these products. For example, Motorola made many of Apple's PowerPC processor chips, but they never stocked/sold the motherboards on which these processors were soldered.

  • One sequence for multiple lookup tables?

    I am sorry if this is off-topic, however can anybody advise what is better - use one sequence for all tables (lookup tables) or to create unique sequence for each table?

  • Exporting multiple clips from one sequence as separate files.

    Hello fellow editors!
    I have about 100+ video files that I want to cut into shorter clips, edit a bit and then export in a Final Cut friendly format (currently they are AVCHD mts files) to send it to my friend, who is putting the whole movie together.
    I dont want to use Final Cut for this ( I cannot, I have a windows machine) and I was hoping to work with premier CC and media encoder CC.
    There is a way of putting all clips in one sequence and then nesting each one, then you can send them to Encoder CC and it will render them as separate files - thats is just not very productive, nesting clips one by one and it takes forever for Encoder to import sequences.
    I was wondering if there is a better workflow? I heard that Final Cut has shortcuts to do this very easily, you just click on all those clips in sequence and "batch export" them, which puts them in some place as separate, already cut files.?
    Anything? I love premier, let my feelings be justified!)

    Kevin Monahan ...
    Lucid George is right ... select one trimmed clip, File->Export->Media, you can choose whether in-out or entire clip.
    Select MORE than one clip, you get a completely different export box ...
    These two selections were "exported" from that bin created by dragging the trimmed clips from the timeline to a new bin ... I don't know what else one is supposed to do. You can't even select multiples clips and batch sub-clipping, which would at least cut the steps down.

  • How I can include several sequences in one sequence file?

    I am new for teststand and forgive me if my question seems silly.
    How I can include several sequences in one sequence file? I would like to use " call sequence" in current file.
    thanks a lot for your kind help

    Hey gunking,
    If you'd like to find out more information about our training courses, I'd be happy to speak with you further about what the course contains and locations offered, but it's probably best if we take this off of the forums for further conversation via phone or email.
    Create a new support request at www.ni.com/contact and set the product as TestStand.  You will be directed to myself or another engineer on my team, at which point you can ask for me or just speak with one of my teammates.
    Off the top of my head, I do know that there are a few courses coming up in Austin in the next couple of weeks (I'm teaching one myself), if you're interested in those.  Otherwise, courses are always being added for the future.

  • Compressor Blu-ray with more than one sequence ?

    Is it possible to create a blu-ray from the "New Batch from template..." of Compressor with more than one sequence ?
    Message was edited by: Rudy A-Traxx

    Thank you, Shawn.  You're confirming everything I thought!
    Just asking . . . perhaps you have a few thoughts here:
    - Is Compressor version 4 any "different" than 3.5 - as far as just dropping in a QT movie master to compress?
    - I guess there's no way to get more than 6 Chapter Markers in Compressor DVD?  I don't see a way, perhaps there is? Or . . . I have to learn toast!  But I can do that!  Just easier if Compressor would do it all!
    Thanks again

  • Easiest was to copy clips from one sequence to another?

    Hi,
    Instead of copy/paste is their a different, quicker way to move clips from one sequence to another?
    Thanks

    Hi Patrick, Your always ready to help
    No that's not what I'm looking to do. (or maybe I just didn't understand what you wrote.)
    What I mean is if I have 4 sequences open and I wanted to move a clip from sequence 2 to sequence 4. What I do now is copy the clip in sequence 2 and go to sequence 4 and paste it.
    Is there a easier way?
    Thanks

  • Sequence of one sequence file called by another sequence file

    Hi,
    Is there any method by which we can call sequence of one sequence file from the another sequence file.
    Please let me know in case you know.
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
    Yes, look at the Computer Motherboard Test Sequence.seq in TestStand\Examples\Demo.
    You have to use the SequenceCall Step Type and specify the path to the other sequence file, use the browse button. Then use the sequence control to select the sequence within that sequence file that you wish to invoke.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can we declare more than one sequence tags in a complex type?

    Hi all,
    Can we use more than one <sequence> tags in the xml schema?
    <xs:complexType name="Demo">
    <xs:sequence minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1">
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:sequence minoccurs = "0" maxoccurs = "1">
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    If you observe the above sample xml there are two sequences in one complex type with different values for minoccurs and maxoccurs. Is this xml valid? why I need this is I have an
    XML with lot of elements some of them should have minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1" and some other should have the other combination of min and max attributes. I want to
    declare it in the sequence rather than declaring beside each individual element. is that possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Is this xml valid? No, a complexType expects only one child, but you can do this :
    <xs:complexType name="Demo">
      <xs:sequence>
        <xs:sequence minOccurs = "1" maxOccurs = "1">
        </xs:sequence>
        <xs:sequence minOccurs = "0" maxOccurs = "1">
        </xs:sequence>
      </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>However...
    XML with lot of elements some of them should have minoccurs = "1" maxoccurs = "1" and some other should have the other combination of min and max attributes.
    I want to declare it in the sequence rather than declaring beside each individual element. is that possible?minOccurs and maxOccurs declared in the sequence apply to the sequence as a whole, not to its individual components.
    For example :
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
         <xs:complexType name="Demo">
              <xs:sequence>
                   <xs:sequence maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="1">
                        <xs:element name="test1" type="xs:string"/>
                        <xs:element name="test2" type="xs:string"/>
                   </xs:sequence>
                   <xs:sequence maxOccurs="1" minOccurs="0">
                        <xs:element name="test3" type="xs:string"/>
                        <xs:element name="test4" type="xs:string"/>
                   </xs:sequence>
              </xs:sequence>
         </xs:complexType>
         <xs:element name="root" type="Demo"/>
    </xs:schema>What you expect will work for the first sequence of elements (test1 and test2) but anyway minOccurs and maxOccurs for elements default to 1, so why bother wrapping them in a sequence?
    If I understand what you want correctly, it won't work for the second sequence.
    For instance, this will be valid :
    <root>
      <test1/>
      <test2/>
      <test3/>
      <test4/>
    </root>but this will not :
    <root>
      <test1/>
      <test2/>
      <test3/>
    </root>

  • Doesn't changes in one sequence appear in another sequence?

    I might be wrong here, but isn't a change done in one sequence supposed to appear automatically in another sequence which uses the changed sequence?
    I just added a mask in sequence A, and thought that this mask would then appear in sequence B (which is made up of multiple sequence A's), but it didn't...
    Am I doing something wrong? is there a setting I've missed? what gives???
    cheers
    -j-

    If there are any colored lines above the sequence you can Option-R and that should render everything.
    If you aren't showing any lines then go to Tools Render Manager (I think) and delete the renders for that sequence. You'll have to render out the whole thing again. But that's not too bad.
    Good luck,

  • One sequence or 8 sequences...Creating a slideshow with 8 audio clips

    I am creating a school yearend slideshow...using 8 audio clips ..in total ...about 18 min. long.
    Should I be using 8 sequences...one for each song...or would it be easier to create just one sequence and have 8 tracks for audio clip.
    I am new to FCE so it has to be simple ...for now.

    For project like this, I usually just edit in one Sequence.
