NTSC TC Line Up Standard

Hi there
Quick simple question (I hope) - I'm doing the NTSC television deliverables for a feature length drama.
Just wanted to check what the TC points are for B+T, Blck, clock etc are for NTSC?
For example here in the U.K its pretty standard to start the tape at 09:57:50:00 then 10 secs of black and silence before at 09:58:00:00 you have one and a half minutes of B+T, then at 09:59:30:00 you have a 30 sec clock. Programme Start is at 10:00:00:00.
Its a sunday afternoon over here and there is no-one in the office I can check with so I'm hoping someone out there give me the NTSC standard -
Cheers
Jonny

At our shop, we start B&T at 00:58:30:00. Slate (when we do one) is at 00:59:40:00. Black is at 00:59:50:00, and program start is at 01:00:00:00. Take note, this is all done in NDF - we don't do drop frame. You will have to adjust for that, if necessary. Guessing if you're doing broadcast, DF TC is required.
But the advice to check with the broadcaster for their requirements is solid. If nothing else, the above will at least be a fallback.

  • Can I color a line of "standard text" in adobe forms output?

Simple question: Can I color a line of "standard text" in adobe forms output?
My standard text (SO10) has multiple lines.
Can I make one of the lines red?
    Ollie

    Hi Oliver,
I believe you standard text is a table type of TDLINES.
On the form you would display it with a table of 1 column 1 row with repeat row ticked.
Have the like below code on the fomr ready event of your table.
    for(var i =0; i<this.Row1.nodes.length;i++)
         if(i == 1){
         this.Row1.Cell1.font.fill.color.value = "255,0,0";
         this.Row1.xx.font.fill.color.value = "255,0,0";
Note: in my example I had a table with one row names Row1 and 2 fields cell1 type textbox,  & xx as text / label.
If its like you have it in a text box with multiple entries, we need to spli the value such that 1st row is displayed in a text box whose parameters are by defeult set to font red, and rest of them to this text area.
If your procedure is table the code sud work, else let me know how you get data and how do you display it on the screen.
    Cheers,
    Sai

  • Single line in standard report

    HI all,
It would seem that with all the functionality of APEX, that the world just wants to copy the look of Excel :/
How to wrap/nowrap the column value in an interactive report??
The above post was great to come across and I can now make Interactive reports with a single (non text wrapped) line of text, making it easier to read if your're happy to scroll across the page forever.
I've been asked to get the same functionality in a standard (non-interactive) report and have failed to achieve it. I've looked at the posts and proposed solutions here involving various uses of  nowrap and white-space in the page and/or template.
I'm just after a single line of text per record in a standard report, no matter how wide the report gets. Is anyone able to help me out with this?
    NT

It will be a lot easier to help if you provide the following information:
    APEX version
    Theme
    Region template
    Report template
    Browsers/versions used
An example on apex.oracle.com is even more helpful.

  • Disappearing white lines in standard table mode

I always work in Standard Table Mode -- today I somehow lost

    Hi PB!
It sounds like you might be disable CSS layout lines. Open

  • HDV NTSC content to PAL standard def

I have a sequence from NTSC HDV camcorders captured as ProRes 4.2.2. My target is a PAL standard def DVD made with Toast 10. Toast will do the NTSC conversion, but is that the best quality path? In theory, this should look a lot better than a standard def NTSC to PAL conversion, right?
    MikeR

My target is a PAL standard def DVD
99% of PAL set top DVD players will also play back NTSC titles without issue.
Computers don't care whether the disc is NTSC or PAL.
If this is just a one-off disc, check with the recipient. There might be no need to convert at all.

Q.2 What is the command to review Canvas in full screen and what is the command to revert to editing mode?

    1. Control-U
    2. Cmd-F12, but you have to set it up first in the View menu. Escape to revert to the interface.

  • NTSC to PAL series conversions.

Hi anyone got any good oil on setting up compressor to run regular NTSC to PAL conversions of 28:30 minute duration series programming?
I am upgrading from FCP 4 to Studio and going to 2GHz dual core G5 from aged G4 Digi Audio 733, and being able to get NTSC on DVCAM, then standards convert downunder would fit the old bottom line requirements for a regular community tv series I am responsible for putting to air. Read; smell of the proverbial oily rag operation. However I read issues with version 2 such as ridiculous render times, etc.
Question; Would it be better to use compressor version 1 until bugs ironed out? Can it be used?
Sagely wisdom greatly appreciated. Regards, ted.

DV PAL is a set data rate - 3.56 MB/s when run at 25 fps.
If you want a smaller file size you have two choices -
    1. convert the file to another codec that allows for smaller frame sizes, slower frame rates and increased intra and inter frame compression.
    2. If it must be DV/PAL, cut the length of the video to reach your 200mb limit.
Of course there is the third choice of simply giving them the larger file because that's what an un-compromised DV/PAL version of the file will be.

  • NTSC - PAL colors conversion for betacam

I need to get a video file that is NTSC (no compression 8bit) into PAL (no compression 8bit) to edit it in Final cut pro 5.1.4 and to put titles from Motion, to finally put it on a betacam tape. To be shure that the conversion (NTSC-PAL) is well done, I gave the NTSC file to a professionel conversion compagny. (I tried to do it myself with compressor and with the plug-in natress, but was not completly satisfied with the result).
Now my problem is that the conversion company didn't compensate the modification of colors during the conversion. So now I have a file in pal (no compression 8bit) but the colors are lighter then the original file in NTSC.
Can someone tip me on a way to modify the colors in Final cut pro of my file in PAL? I know how to use most of the filters, but I don't now much about doing it professionally. I was hoping that there could be a filter or a plugin that is made for my kind of problem, and I'm afraid of making a mistake because I never prepaired a file for a betacam tape before. Do I have to be carefull with the percentage of black or of white? Do I have to work in RGB or YUV?
My second question is: the video PAL that was converted from NTSC has lines where there is quick movement when I look at it in Final cut pro or Quicktime. (the original NTSC file didn't have them) Should I use a filter to desinterlace it or will these lines disapear any way on the betcam tape? But I'm puting titles with Motion, so those titles don't have lines... How will they mix with the video?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi mish,
that is such a .. <searching correct english word> hillarious (?) idea, I give you a star for that ;-)))
changing some flags on a ready-made dvd... wow! nice try...- but as Fred said, NTSC<<>>PAL conversions are no trivial tasks... you run into many problems, e.g. where do you get the additonal 5 frames per second you need for a transfer from PAL to NTSC? how to make the audio fit to these new pictures? and, I HAVE to do this silly joke: NTSC has a very different color concept (Never The Same Color) then PAL.. and for sure a different res...
the name is irritating, but all mighty JES Deinterlacer is doing a fantastic job in converting video standards (ok, for a free software solution...) give that a try!

  • The Not-So-Thin Green Line

Just started working in iDVD 08 on a brand new PowerBook. I've got 13 Quicktime movies (Motion-JPEG A) divided between two sub-menus using the Revelations Theme.
The Quicktime movies are 720 x 486, and I changed the Theme's aspect ration from 16:9 to 4:3. When I played the finished DVD back on a TV screen, and in Apple's DVD player, I notice a green line that appears under the video. Not the menus or sub-menus. Just the movies. The line does not appear in the Quicktime file. It is not visible when previewing the DVD in iDVD before burning it.
I also tried switching the aspect ratio back to 16:9, and I still get the same problem.
What causes it and how can I fix it?
    Thanks in advance!

The video content is 4:3. I confirmed this with my editor (these were output from an Avid).
    Yes 4:3, but.........
For NTSC, the iApps are really designed for the NTSC DV 720x480 miniDV standard. There is a 'pro' NTSC D1 size that is your 720x486. Both are considered 4:3, but have different intended end uses.
I suspect the Avid can output either.
I realize that many people use the iApps for 'pro type' commercial applications, but they have many limitations that affect such use. Apple has the Final Cut Pro suite of applications that have all the 'bells and whistles' that pro/commercial users need.
but the other two were 740 x 480.
Were they really 740 x 480? That could cause a problem.

  • Donot want to fix the schedule lines at an Early date even P.O is the creat

    Hi ,
If a material is sourced via a Scheduling Agreement, then MRP automatically creates schedule lines for this to meet MRP requirements.
However, if a separate PO is raised for the same material (irrespective of the supplier) at a date after one or more of the scheduling agreement schedule lines, MRP creates a message to reschedule in the PO in front of the schedule lines even if this is known to not be possible. the result is that the schedule lines for standard supply are not put in early enough.
And We don't  want to fix the schedule lines in a t an early date to over come this.Is there any settings for the same.

    Hello,
If you want to control MRP messages for rescheduling you can make settings in tcode : OMDW either at plant level or MRP group level.
You can introduce Tolerance value forward & Tolerance value for displacemt in No. of days here.
If system finds requiremnts within the tolerance no of days it will not create MRP Exception messages. This way you can avoid unwanted messages.
    Thanks,
    Ram

2.I'm creating delivery schedule respect ot Scheduling agrrement.
    3. I maintain the aggregation horiozon in creation profile as 10 days daily aggregation for JIT and 120 days for monthly aggregation for forecast.
4.I run MRP for the header material and I maintain the necessary SA number in Source list.
    5. After MRP run I'm not getting the respective schedule lines for JIT and Forecast.
    6. What is the use of creation profile in Scheduling Agrrement and schedule line and is it determine ant schedule lines after MRP run.

  • How do I convert an entire PAL DVD to NTSC, menus and all?

    Hello everyone,
I've been given a set of PAL DVD's which need to be converted into NTSC. Now, from my understanding, there is no one program available that can do this, so I've had to rip all the video tracks off, convert them to NTSC mp2's and author the DVD from the ground up in DVDSP, build a VIDEO_TS file, then use Toast to compress to a single layer DVD and burn. If anyone knows a program that can convert an entire PAL DVD to NTSC, that would be greatly appreciated.
The next problem is that when I burn any of the DVD's and put them in a duplication tower (I'm not sure if that's the actual name, but it's one of those machines where you just put the original disc in the top drive and fill the other 8 or so drives under it with blanks), it says that the burn has failed. I have tried another duplication tower and end with the same result. One option I have not tried just yet is to change the brand of media I'm using to burn, but will do so next chance I get.
I'm not sure if the two problems are related or not, but I just thought it would help.
    Thanks in advance.

    2 options.
    1) Best option - only available if you have the source material - Convert source material from PAL to NTSC using the Nattress standards converter.
    http://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/standardsconversion.htm
    or the JES deinterlacer:
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html
It's also possible to do this in Compressor but not as good quality and longer render times.
    2) If you don't have the source footage, you'll need to demux the file in MPeg Streamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/
then transcode the file as described here:

  • How to sync NTSC and PAL clips to same frame rate for multicam edit

    Hi there,
First time poster so sorry for the newbie question. I'm trying to get 2 standard NTSC clips and 1 standard PAL clip about a hour long each which shot the same event at the same time, to sync up so that I can go to multi-cam and edit them like a movie sequence. I tried that, but they start unsyncing about 10 minutes in. I gather it's because of the different frame rates. I tried using "interpret footage" and changed the PAL 25fps to 29.97fps and everything got sped up. I tried rendering the PAL clip as an NTSC clip but it ended up looking a bit fuzzier. As I want to end up with an NTSC clip in the end, how can I make these clips sync up properly?
Any, tips to help this newbie greatly appreciated with many thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,
It's not always so easy to do NTSC <-> PAL conversions, and it's impossible to do them in Premiere while maintaining any degree of quality.
You can do a good job of this with AviSynth (freeware) but the learning curve may be a bit steep for a newbie. I also hear that ProCoder ($500+) does a good job of this but I've never tried it.
As for the sync, you can chop up your PAL clip within the muticam sequence (leaving some "holes") and match up particular points manually. You'll obviously have to edit around the holes.

    Hii
'=:' works but try it by increasing your window size
    otherwise use READ_TEXT fm
You pass it the Text Identification Details
