Nudge a copy broken in cs3?

I've got a shape that I'm trying to copy and nudge around using the keyboard.
In CS2, I could hold down command+option (or command+shift+option) and use the arrow keys to make a copy and move it without moving the original. Is there some new feature in CS3 that's hijacked the shortcut? This was really useful for creating repeating patterns, etc., but it's making me crazy not being able to do it anymore.

This is still working for me. Option arrow of a selected object duplicates it and moves it the distance set in Preferences > General > Keyboard Increments. Perhaps you have your keyboard Increments set to zero. I set mine to 1". If you're trying to select and duplicate text this will only effect the tracking, leading, or baseline offset of the text depending on the key combo, and not effect the position. Hope this helps. If all else fails try restarting the program and then restart the computerthis always fixes everything.

My copy of Photoshop CS3 has stopped working. I love it. I am very familiar with it. I paid hundreds of dollars for it. When I click on it (W/my MAC) I get a message that reads: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the product by contacting Adobe Customer Support."
So how do I repair it so it works again? I've called the "Chat" forum three times and they do nothing. Please help...I use this Photoshop CS3 for work.
I have the serial number, but not the original disc which was damaged.

I am trying to run it under Mac OS 10.9.5

The simplest way to clear it up is usually a re-install. Here is a link to the installers: Download CS3 products. Have your serial number ready.

My copy of InDesign CS3 has no Deactivate command in the Help menu

I would like to uninstall my copy of InDesign CS3 so that someone else in my group can install and use it. The instructions I have read say to make sure to run the Deactivate command in the Help menu first so the computer is not recorded as containing an installed copy of the program. The copy of InDesign CS3 that I have does not have a Deactivate command in the Help menu. I remember entering a license key when I installed it, so I assume it was activated at that time. Are there different editions of InDesign CS3, some that are deactivated by the Help->Deactivate command and others that are deactivated some other way? How can I make sure that my InDesign CS3 copy has been deactivated when I uninstall it?

Volume licensing doesn't typically use activation. Is this an enterprise situation?

Personal file sharing: file copying broken from/to imported account?

I have an iMac G5 with two user accounts A and B ; and a MacBook Pro with two user accounts A' (imported from A with the migration assistant) and C.
Personal file sharing, FTP and SMB are enabled on both machines. The firewall is disabled. Permissions, as well as the Keychain have been repaired.
When I am logged as A' on the MBP, and when I connect to the iMac with the username/password of A, I can't copy files from A' to A : I get the following error message [The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items]. However, a 0-byte file is created on A'. The same problem occurs from A to A'.
This problem drives me crazy because :
- I can read and delete any file in A' from A (and vice-versa). Only copy and modification doesn't work.
- I can copy files from A to C, A' to B, C to A, B to A'.
- FTP sharing between A and A' does work.
Someone got the problem solved by re-creating his account and re-importing all his data, but I absolutely want to avoid that. I'm sure there can be a simpler solution...
It appeared to me that the only reason why AFP copy doesn't work between A and A' is that A' was imported from A. It seems also that a common broken preference/setting is not the source of the problem, since sharing works from/to any other account (and well, re-creating the account couldn't solve the problem as it would re-set the broken settings).
I would like to know which information is used to determine user privileges when copying from one machine to another...
A strange thing I noticed is that both A and A' have the same generateduid (which is thus not "unique") - could it be the source of the problem?
If you have two machines with one account imported from one machine to another, can you check whether Personal file sharing with this account works? I love understanding why stuff doesn't work.

Here are the results of a few more experiments... Something is definitely broken with those two user accounts, but I'd like to know why, and how it got broken
I have replaced the names of the accounts/machines by more meaningful identifiers.
From the MBP, trying to access Account_B on the iMac:

501 is the uid of account_A (on the iMac). (The uid of account_A' is 503).

Where can I buy a copy of fireworks cs3

I am looking to download/buy a copy of Fireworks..it's purely for editing photos on a very small scale so an older version would be fine..I was advised that I would be able to get hold of a CS3 version for a low price but I can't find anywhere to get a hold of it..can you help? I'm in the UK.

It is not likely anyone will recommend a source for purchasing older software. You always take chances when you buy from third party vendors and that is where you will have to be looking to find older versions for sale.

I cannot copy/paste in CS3

Pretty basic functionality we're talking about here.
I also cannot copy back and forth between Ps and Ai.
Am I missing some "cool new feature"?
I already tried trashing the prefs.

There are many copy/paste issues between Adobe apps. It's worse in CS3, but constantly and inexplicably I will no longer be able to copy shapes from Illustrator and paste them into After Effects as masks.
I have to restart one or the other-- often times both-- in order to make it behave again... but of course it only works 2 or 3 times and stops again.
I have wasted so much time with this in the last couple of days I cannot even tell you. And add to that the fact that Illustrator just hangs on quit about 75% of the time for no reason and must be force killed, which just takes even more time out of the day.

Broken Adobe CS3 Anyone?

I've heard rumors that Adobe CS3 is broken in Leopard. Since installation I've tried Photoshop and Dreamweaver (CS3 version of course) and haven't seen any errors as such.
Has anyone encountered any errors in any CS3 products? Please post a description here along with any work arounds you discover. Thanks!

I tried installing CS3 after upgrading to Leopard yesterday. It's a mess. I had errors for components which could not install. Certain programs (Indesign, Encore, Premiere, Soundbooth) were not compatible and could not install at all. This may be because my mac is a non-intel mac.
On top of that, none of the programs which did install would start. I get the "license has stopped working" message.
If anyone has been able to resolve this, I'd love to hear how.

Copy favorites from CS3 to CS4

Is there a way to copy favorites, keywords, other settings from CS3 to CS4?

Sorry, but there is no way to copy your CS3 Favorites over to CS4. However you are able to copy your keywords over if they did not get imported during your first launch.
1. Launch CS3, Click on the flyout menu in the keyword panel
2. Select export, Save the text file
3. Launch CS4, Click on the flyout menu in the keyword panel
4. Select import, select the text file that you saved from CS3
This should complete the import of all the keywords from CS3 to CS4.
Please let me know what other settings you are referring to and I will let you know if you can copy them over or not. Please let me know if you have any other question

As indicated in the header question, I've been unable to get PS CS3 to run (other than in "trial period" mode) on my new laptop. I purchased CS3 a few years ago and had it up and running on my former (now deceased) machine; I still had the activation key. I installed the program on my new machine (running Windows 7.1), seemingly uneventfully. But when I now enter the activation key, I get an error message informing me that the number is not valid.
Does the activation key become invalid after a certain time period, or is there something I can fix? I'm interested in upgrading, but would like to have the familiar version available until I get around to doing so (just retired; lots of time-consuming changes afoot).

Renaming and copying files (Bridge CS3)

Hi -- Scripting bridge, I am able to copy files using the copyTo(target) function.
I also can rename files using the Javascript file.rename() function.
But I am having trouble doing both in concert.
If I rename before I copy, I lose the reference to the selected thumb, and I cannot copy it.
I have tried using the Javascript file.copy() function with no success.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can approach this problem?

Don't you just need to cancat the folder that you have as target and the thumbs name in a new file object?

Hardware Rendering=broken preview (CS3)

Hey guys, im new to the forums, but I've recently encountered some strange behavior. I used to have dual monitors setup but only used one in bridge(didnt use the other for previews) and i was able to use hardware rendering just fine. Then i moved and i left the second monitor off and then images started displaying in a weird section of the preview pane, and part of it is translucent.
I enabled software rendering and it fixed the issue(as per in the support site, it said dual monitors can cause this) but the rendering is a bit slow.
How can i get it back working like it used to with hardware rendering?
Computer is:
Athlon 64 x2 6000+(3.01~ghz)
4gb DDR2 667
512 DDR3 Vram(ATI Radeon HD 3850 chip, with recently updated driver)
1tb WD Barracuda boot/cs3 installed on
640GB WD Green Scratch disk

This is a hardware issue from the video card or driver. You say you updated the driver and if this this the latest one prehaps the old one you had worked better. Migtht try rolling back to the version where it worked. If this does not work you might have to replace the video card for something faster.

We just bought an old copy of dreamweaver cs3. will this work with windows 7? do we have to buy an update?

It's going to be outdated as soon as you start. DWCS3 has no support for html5 semantic mark-up, css3 (barely css2) and anything regarding Responsive Web Design techniques.
It's just too old.
If you don't plan to make your site using any of the current techniques, or plan on major amounts of hand coding, it should work fine though.

Photoshop CS3 copy

Hello, I need a download copy of Photoshop CS3. I had to rebuild my computer and when I inserted my install disc I was told that the installer database was corrupted. Customer Support wasn't any help. I was told that they do not support CS3 anymore. I have a valid serial number for it. Thanks.

I continue to get the "Installer database is corrupt" message so I guess it isn't my version of CS3 that has the problem. Could it be that for some reason Window's 7 doesn't like my original licensed Photoshop 7 (from WAY back)? The whole Photoshop 7, CS3 upgrade and CS5 upgrade worked on this computer before I had to rebuild it. My install of PS 7 seems to work just fine. As a test I even dug up my old copy of CS2 and installed it without a problem. It hits the wall when I try and install CS3. Should I uninstall and reinstall it or does anyone think that there is another problem lurking on my computer.
