Nudge / Buzz with the ability /nudgeoff

Perhaps a Nudge / Buzz would be nice, so you could catch a person's attention, perhaps you should be able to turn it off per contact /nudgeoff (for 24 hours or something like that). As for the form of the nudge it could have sound (but a nice one not like the BUZZ on Yahoo). Also i think it could be awesome if you could gently flash to glowing yellow (or skype blue) the entire taskbar background when you get a nudge, maybe make it glow from the skype icon all the way to the edges then die out. (I don't know if the taskbar supports something so interesting).

Oh gosh...I hated that feature when it existed in WLM...but you know what? Because Skype sometimes "forgets" to tell me i have a message when i have the window closed, I do miss having something like this. Instead of a sound (I normally have sounds off anyway) or a vibrating wondow (hurts my eyes really badly when people decide to have fun with that), maybe there could be another option like ...I don't know, maybe a waving smiley face pops up in the corner to remind you you have a message or that a contact wants to really get your attention. HAH! Kind of like that little "clippy" paper clip that used to be in microsoft Word...that little tutorial guy that was so annoying, but make it less annoying. Just a small, yet noticable waving, gently bouncing smiley over the skype icon like when a message notice pops up or a notice that someone is online, but for the purpose of a contact getting your attention

I have a list of record available for many user at the same time for them to work on.
Every one has the tendency to chosse the first record...
I want each of the users to be able to chose a different record once the preceding record has been selected by another user.
It would have been somthing like a GLOBAL TEMPORAY TABLE but with the ability for every user to see others records
so I would do and anti-join...
Does anyon have an idea on how I could implement such a behavior?

You will not be able to use a global temporary table for such a requirement.
It sounds like you will need a permanent table, which you will need to lock certain records (prohibiting users from taking those already in use), you can look at using the DBMS_LOCK package for this.
That's just speculation based on what you've typed, if you provide more details you make get more specific help.

US online number with the ability to make outbound...

I currently live in Egypt and my new job requires that I have an online USA phone number with the ability to make outbound calls. Now after going through the site, I understand that online numbers has you recieve calls wherever you are, but does it always have you make calls to the US or what? And are those calls covered with the subscripition or is it a seperate bill?
Help seriously needed ASAP, thanks a million!

You are correct, the ability to receive calls from telephones (the Online Number) is separate from the ability to make calls to telephones (the subscriptions). Having one does not give you the other. When logged into Skype from almost anywhere, you would be able to receive calls made to your Online Number, and - with the subscription, or by simply adding Skype Credit to your account - have the ability to call telephones from Skype.
For calling to the States, there is an Unlimited USA & Canada subscription at US$ 2.99/month, or with a 15% discount if purchased for a year at a time (just over US$ 30/year). This subscription, along with a US online number, effectively gives you a US "telephone" that you can use from Egypt or anywhere else. Secure Video conferencing with the ability to record

Hi,
I am looking for a flash based secure video conferencing app which has the ability to record conferences.
I need it to enable a series of helpdesk type sessions and would prefer to use Flash so that the users do not have long set-up times.
Does anyone know of any off the shelf or open source apps that are out there?

Well and If you look at any thing by blackberry you can see that it does not match up on its features versus the iPhone. iPhone users and those of us who use it for it's amazing abilities aren't caught up on the fact that it lacks video, or picture messaging. There are other things that are more important to worry about with this phone. Play around with it and you can see that this is a very powerful tool. I switched to AT&T just to get the iPhone. Blackberry's phones have nothing on the iPhone, the way i look at it is the iPhone can only blow your mind away in the next model and until then get used to it's functions. I'd rather know how to use it at it's "simple" state as opposed to it high tech overly advanced possibilities.

I want speakers that do not buzz with the iPhone near them.

Has anyone found any good speakers for their computer system that do not buzz when their iPhone (or any other GSM phone) is around them?
I have some old Altec Lansing speakers on my computer and my wife's computer and they go crazy whenever she or I are on one of our phones and anywhere near the computers.
Anyone have any good suggestions for a new pair of speakers?

It might not be the speakers that are the problem. I think that the wire that goes from the computer to the speaker also contributes.
As an example, I have a headset for my work phone. It has a long cable from the phone to the headset. When my iPhone is near the cable and I'm on the phone, I hear the interference. If I move the phone away, the interference goes away. It has more to do with the position of the iPhone relative to the cable than to the speaker on my ear.
Another example is when I've used a wireless microphone when speaking to an audience. If my phone is in my pocket and I'm speaking, the proximity of the phone to the wire connecting the microphone to the transmitter causes the interference. I simply have to move the phone away from the wire.
Effectively, I think the wires/cables that connect speakers to the computer are acting as an antenna that is picking up the interference. So you might get the best shielded speakers, but you also have to do something about the wire as well. This might explain why when you went to the computer store, there wasn't much of a problem, because the wires connecting computers to the different speakers may have been short.

Formula: Rolling 6 Months from CurrentDate & With the ability to Group

Can someone please provide a date formula that will give me the ability to group on the results? Ultimately seeking to create a rolling 6 month group from CurrentDate. For example: If today was 11/21/2008, the formula would result with a 6 finite groups of 6/21, 7/21, 8/21, 9/21, 10/21, & 11/21. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Try to use the record selection formula like this
month({date field})>=month(currentdate)-6 and year({date field})=year(currentdate)
Now greate a group on date field and use monthly.

I just purchased 2 new iPhones for my wife and I and set them up. We want to give the old phones to our kids, with the ability to share all the songs in my iTunes account. How do I want to give new names so our old phones sync with our kids names?

Sorry for the long intro question. I just bought a new iPhone 5S for me and a new 5C for my wife.
We want to give our kids my old 4S and my wife's old 4. We backed up our old phones and restored
our info to our new ones, but when we connect our old phones, they still show all our songs and iTunes
settings on them (along with the same names as our new ones).
We want to set up our old iPhones for our kids to be able to have their own names on theirs so that
when we connect to my iTunes computer, it sees each phone accordingly, and has only the songs
that they select (whereas I want to keep ALL my songs in my iTunes account on mine, not just some).
How do I do this?

Hi all, I have just had an issue surface in Ai CS4 with the ability to save as a pdf...

I had recently downloaded AICS5 trial to check out it's awesomeness ( too bad Adobe's customer care isn't ), upon completion of the trial I went ahead and uninstalled the program using the provided uninstaller. After uninstalling the program, my CS4 version stopped giving me all of my pdf file saving options ( like press ready, smallest file size...), is it something that I may have done on accident or is it a problem with the uninstall? How do I fix it? Thanks.

Cascading LOVs with the ability to create a new record. Is this possible?

I'm trying to create a couple of LOVs. The first is a list of manufacturers, the second a list of items. Essentially, when you select a manufacturer in the first LOV you will only see their items in the second LOV.
I've had a look through the forum and I think I've got a handle on how to do a cascading LOV... except...
I'd like the users to have the ability to type in a NEW manufacturer and NEW item if necessary and have that combination then saved into the source table.
Is that possible?

Hi,
Browsers don't have the combo-box functionality that you would find in something like MS Access. You could try autocomplete - see [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:53] - but you would then have to look up every entry (the field would only relate to the display text and not the ID for the item, so that would have to be looked up every time).
I'd like to say that you should be able to trust your users not to create duplicate entries. I'd like to say that, but.... ;)

Why doesn't the all iPads with the ability to update not have Siri?

I'm a huge supporter of apple. Had the iPod, itouch, and the iPad. Both the iPod and the itouch I got near their release date. So, I was kid of mad that the newer ones had better features for the same price. Then I get the iPad 2nd generation. I thought because I waited I would get all the features of the newer ones with the update feature; but no. I feel limited once again. I persuaded my friends into buying the iPad airs because they liked my iPad so much better than their tablets. I even taught them how to use them only to find out that theirs are better. They have Siri. I could care less about the second processor, air drop, better mic, retina display, lighter, more durable iPad Air, but I got robbed of a feature that should come with an update. I'm very disappointed in the company. By the way I'll never buy from apple again unless my old one gets Siri. Samsung had it with their older phones. The galaxy is beating apple in many ways.

Your old one is physically incapable of running Siri. This is akin to a person being upset that their 3 year old DVD player can't play BluRays...i mean the disc fits in the try so it should work right??????
ANd honestly, I've had Siri on my iPod and I think I've played with it twice. It has to be on the internet to be used so unless you have a 3G device she's inaccessible much of the time
You gotta have siri, buy a new device. Your iPad 2 will NEVER be able to handle the software.

I am looking for an app for my iPad that can be used to record field work information in a specified format, with the ability to draw diagrams if necessary, and include photos taken from the iPad.

Any suggestions for apps that could do this?
It will be used to collect field notes for daily use on a biological field study site. It would be optimal if the information could be collected in a manner that can be moved easily into excel as well. Most of the data will be qualitative descriptions, and some of it quantitative numeric (time stamps etc). We want to make it extremely easy for the user to enter information, such that we will set up a template and the technicians can fill out the individual fields in that template with minimal software knowledge required.
Hope the community can recommend a few apps to test out.

I looked at Bento and at first glance I think it would do everything I want it to do, then I saw a review or something from a customer that indicated the information in Bento could not be exported (say to send out a mailing). I may want a program that can do that as well, is there one out there? If not it does look like Bento will work. When you save a picture to a customer in Bento can you open it up full size?

How to create a workflow composite with the ability to upload a document in

Is there any way to attach/upload a document while creating or modifying a user.
I have a requirement where user will create a document(.xls/.csv/.doc) with his details and he needs to upload that document while updating the profile. If he is creating the profile then this document has to be forwarded to his manager. By validating the document manger will approve the request.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Use a JFrame and paint on the content pane. Or a Frame with a Canvas (who the heck still uses AWT?).
They probably don't do anything because painting a button is not enough. It actually needs to be a button. Or Menu.
