Nudging very slow in CS6
hello --
i have seen quite a few threads but no solutions yet that work for this problem. my documents tend to have quite a few of layers, using very frequently shapes with layer effects. up to a certain amount of those the app is very responsive, and then once i hit a certain level it gets very slow. strange just moving a vector shape using the direct selection tool is just fine. the regular nudging of a group or a layer brings up the progress indicator dialog.
so far i have tried:
- turn off layer previews (did improve things a tiny bit, but still unusuable with larger layer count)
- changed performance settings (cache level:2 or 4, and tile size 128k) (also no effect)
the only thing that seems to help is to break the file apart into seveal ones, which will have less layers, but that's not really a long-term workable solution for me, as i use layer comps and need a more global overview.
have others found a solution? i can't imagine being the only one with this problem.
thanks in advance for your throughts.
It doesn't sound too terribly large, though 300 MB isn't small. Do you know whether you have information beyond the visible edge of the canvas (e.g., have you used the Crop Tool with [ ] Delete Cropped Pixels unchecked, or placed any large images of which you can see only a portion?
I only have an intuitive feel for this issue, as I frequent this forum and have read a number of other reports of sluggishness, but I don't have a Mac on which to test things myself.
There have been some reports that 13.0.1 makes things better, but it still seems there is something that pushes people's Mac systems over the edge into being sluggish, and unfortunately Adobe or other users haven't managed to find a magic bullet.
I've heard folks say everything from running Onyx to reinstalling the entire operating system has helped, but that's second hand info as I just don't have the ability to duplicate your environment.
There was a thread where someone posted a document with a huge number of layers to test with, and another where someone suggested documents of a certain composition, and it was pretty easy to demonstrate that some systems could work through them more quickly than others, with the difference being greater than you'd expect based on computer performance alone.
If you have a way to post your PSD file online and would be willing to show it to others, I'll be more than happy to download it and see whether I'm seeing similar performance. A document that can reproduce a slow-down for others might be very interesting to Adobe as well.

When using the camera downloader in Adobe Bridge CS6 with Nikon D5200 we are unable to see previews of the photos and it is very slow to download. The issue occurs under a the users rights, but not under admin level. This is a new issue.
Hi Jdentremont,
Lync client gets user photos by first querying the Address Book Web Query (ABWQ) service on the server, which is exposed through the Distribution List Expansion web service. The client receives
the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
1. Navigate to
“X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
2. Delete all the files in this folder.
3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
Best regards,
Eric

I am having a problem with my cs6 running very slow and when i save i am getting an error message that says, "This document is bigger than 2 gb (the file may not be read correctly by some TIFF viewers.) please help
wen6275,
It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac. Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file. Would you mind elaborating? -
Photoshop cs6 extended actions run very slow
When I run actions the process is very slow. I am using CS6 and the status window states that PS is running 100% efficient. On prior versions of PS the actions have been very fast. I checked my computer hardware against adobes's suggestions and I match up. Can anyone give me an idea what would be making the actions operate so slow. I am running Windows 7 pro, have 32 gb ram, nvidia quatro 4000 graphics card and an i7-4771 cpu running at 3.5ghz.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It was said to pause for 10 sec. I changed it to accelerated and now it flies. Thanks so much for the tip.

Photoshop CS6 very very slow (Windows 7)
Hi, im desperate as ive run out of options i think. Photoshop CS6 behaves slow, very slow.
Even with no document open, right after launch it reacts with delay on any mouseclick, sometimes it takes
more than 20 seconds before a menu pops open after clicking. Painting paintbrushes are impossible slow.
Basically any action is dragged.
Its impossible to work like this. With all previous versions of PS i never encountered this.
Things i tried :
- turned off gpu acceleration (i read that gpu can cause performance issues, some ppl solved slowness by turning it off)
- updated latest nvidia drivers
- reinstalled photoshop
- tried to inspect photoshop processes with ProcessHacker, even when at 5% cpu it runs extremely slow
specs :
Windows 7
Nvidia GT545
1 terrabyte free scratch disk space (on C:)
8 gb ram
CPU i7 2600Has it always run slow, or did this start recently?
What anti-virus are you using? Have you tried disabling it to see it that make a difference?
Are you working over a network? -
Photoshop CS6 - Very Slow Brush Speeds...
Hi:
I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.

Dragging clips to bins is very slow in Premiere CS6
I just upgraded to Premiere CS6 from CS 5.5 (no thank you, CC) and have problems with very slow speed when dragging clips from one bin to another in the Project panel. Here are the specifics:
I have about 1500 clips in a bin that I'm sorting through in the Project panel, putting clips into other bins as I classify them. If I have the 1500 clips sorted by the Name field, there's no delay as I move a clip or clips from the big bin to one of the smaller bins. If, however, I sort the 1500 clips by Media File Path in the Project panel (which puts the clips in chronological order because the file names reflect date and time), then doing the same work results in an 8-second delay every time I try to move a clip between bins.
I get the 8-second delay each and every time I drag a clip between bins. It occurs whether I select a single clip to drag or drag multiple clips. As soon as I sort in the panel by Name field instead of the Media File Path field, dragging has no delay.
I have no such trouble with delays in CS5.5, so I'm at a loss. I need to have the bin sorted by Media File Path, because I need them in chronological order as I evaluate them. But an 8-second delay each time I move a clip bogs me down so much it's impractical to get any sorting done.
I suspect this is a bug. I've upgraded to CS6.05, but that didn't fix it. Does anyone have a workaround?
Thanks,
Mike BoomA good suggestion. I did try that earlier, but alas, no luck.
Sorting works across all bins in the Project panel, so once you sort on the Media File Path, drags are slow from all bins, even if you segment into bins as small as two clips.
Premiere is doing something bad with sorts after CS5.5. Looks like Adobe fell down on regression testing for the updated version. Then again, it's got to be hard to regression test as many features as Premiere has. -
Brand New Machine and Photoshop CS6 running very slow
I just installed Photoshop CS6 on my new Machine and it is running horrible. Moving around objects, turning effects on/off, zooming, and more all take for ever to render. I can not figure out why. I have updated video card drivers and more. Scratch Disk is set to a second disk and messed with all of the GPU settings. Only photoshop runs bad on this machine. I should not be having issues with the system. Below is the system info from Photoshop. Also this machine is running with two SSD drives which should make PS run even faster.

Tried Photoshop at all sorts of various settings including default. All with the D drive being used for the Scratch disk. Working on the similar size file described above. The file I am working on now is 4000 x 4800 pixels, CMYK, 8 bit depth. Photoshop is slow selecting layers with auto select, very slow when moving layers around the Canvas, and slow rendering the Canvas when zooming in and out. This document also has about 30 layers and is 80mg.
I only use the 64 bit version of Photoshop these days. Also all three monitors are set at 60 Hertz. Photoshop is closed and reopened upon all changes.
I use to be a Photoshop Certified Expert in CS3 so I am extremely familar with the product. I am just stumped. -
Mac Dreamweaver CS6 very slow to open files
Hi
My Mac Dreamweaver CS6 opens html files in about 1-2 minutes! It is very very slow. It all works when the file is open but it is the actual opening that is slow.
I have turned off external files but no change.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Mac Pro
Processor 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)I've been strugling with this issue for a long time.
I've found that Dreamweaver takes about 2 minutes to open CSS files with @import url for font face.
for example:
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Oswald:400,300);
i've never had problem with big files but if i place this line into my 20k css file, it takes for ever to load.
if i remove it, it opens fast as usual.
Please don't tell me that it could be a Google problem thatis loading slow because it's not.
the font file isnt big enough either.
Of course i have deativated the "load things from external urls" setting.
any ideas on how could this be fixed withoput changing my work style ? -
Hello Folks,
I've just applied the latest update, but am experiencing very slow image loading times between LR 4.1 and CS6 Extended edition.
I am using an iMac 27 2.8Ghz with 8Gig of System Ram, over 300Gig of HDD free space.
Upon selecting edit-in CS6 with an image in LR 4.1, CS6 starts up with a long splash screen, loads, then I get a spinning grey circle, then CS6 loads on the desktop, then I get a colored spinning circle, before my image finally appears.
I have performance set to an external scratch disk witih 624G of free space, 5644 MB of memory usage at 74%, HS at 30 CL at 7 CTS at 1028K
I have CS5 still installed and it's load times are about twice as fast as CS 6
Any help or suggestions on how I might resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
JimI changed the scratch disk, to my internal which has 300G of free space but also kept my FW800 external 600G of free space as well.
Now things seem to be running faster.
I've tried opening .psd and .dng files, maybe the .dng files load a bit faster.
After I reinstalled i did a complete update againk which included ACR 7.1
I also tried reinstalling CS6 over itself, but not sure if that might have made a difference or not. The reason I did that is that I'm getting a separate error messge when I select PS Support Center.
The error messge states, Adobe Air, this application is damaged, try to re-install the application. -

Dreamweaver CS6 and CC both very slow page rendering under Mavericks
Dreamweaver CS6 and CC both very slow page rendering under Mavericks compared to 10.8.5
Any ideas? One other thing I am seeing:
When I open any document (html, javascript) inside DWCC now, then close it without any changes, DW asks if I want to save changes.
I just tested this under 10.8.5 and there is no lag there, nor are documents mysteriously modified when opened.
Note: I have tested this both with and without other Apps or extensions running in Mavericks and 10.8.5 -
After Effects CS6 interface very slow and causing weird things happening
Hi all,
Since upgrading from AE CS3 to CS6, I noticed that the interface is much slower in CS6 than in CS3.
Specifically, when working in the timeline window, like renaming layers, or even just clicking just a layer, it takes up to multiple seconds before the action is actually applied.
When I move my mouse within that delay period, unexpected results happen, eg accidently a layer is moved up or down.
It seems that AE still thinks I hold and drag something, while that's not the case.
Or that the mouse down - mouse up registration is delayed, AE thinks I'm still holding the left mouse button. Not very good.
Very frustrating because at first I didn't even notice a layer was moved. When going back to CS3 it's a relief to work with.
Note that I'm not talking about render times of the preview, I know when to wait.
But I expect the interface to respond within reasonable times. Clicking a layer should actually highlight it within less than a second, not multiple seconds.Hi Dave and Mylenium, here's more info:
I updated AE to 11.0.2.11 (that fixed the "Need 2 frames or more for ram playback" but not the UI response time)
I work on an iMac with OSX 10.6.8, 3Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, and an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD
In the current case, I work in a comp with about 40 shape layers, 2 tiff sequence layers (stored on the SSD), and a few PSD files. Resolution 1080p
I turned off multiprocessing, enabled disk cache
Time to throw it out?
Is the 2012 iMac line up to the task (Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M / 675MX, Intel Quadcore i5 2.7-3.2Ghz - not fantastic right)?
Switch to PC to get real power? -
Hi guys,
I am using AE Effects CS6 (11.0.4.2) on a new Macbook Pro with these specs:
2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB MHz DDR3
Intel Iris 1536 MB
The problem I am having is that when imported footage is visible as footage or a layer, AE becomes very slow with every click of the mouse on either the timeline or the footage in the viewer itself causing the color wheel to appear, often for 30 seconds at a time. Strangely, dealing with the composition has no issues.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advanceTry transcoding the footage to a production codec and see if that makes a difference.
Like, use the Adobe Media Encoder to make them something like QuickTime with the PhotoJPEG codec.
See if that helps with the performance. -
It is incredible that offered for sale a suite that is not optimized yet, has many flaws with the video cards and it is really very slow, at least in an iMac 27 with 8 GB of ram, is 50% slower than the CS5 suite , you need an urgent upgrade, anyone buy this suite is not working properly: (, do good things inside, not onlyon the outside.
- Problems to copy a vector from Illustrator to Photoshop
- Problems of general visualization photoshop
- All the incorporation of 3D is still far from being easy to use and comfortable, is light years, it is best not to something that is not well thought out and well developed or, if you do the things they do well or you will lose money.
Pixelmator biene going strong and I think they should study their application, almost all the same and weighs app 5% of units.
We have to eliminate a lot of things in the suite are not used, do not work, because there are free alternatives to all, not worth the price benefits in the lastsuite.
Back to start work
KlaudoskyThat sounds like something is wrong with your system.
It could be the video drivers, or bad anti-virus, or somethign else we haven't seen before.
But it is something specific to your system.
Other users are seeing CS6 run as fast or faster than CS5.
