Nuked my network - can't fix it

Question

I tried to extend my wireless network via my airport - and nuked my wireless network. I followed the directions that I found on the apple support communities to extend the network and, poof, not only was my network gone, but now I can't find it nor recreate it.
I've unplugged the device I was going to use to extend the network, so it won't interfere with anything, and I've unplugged the Airport Express, let it sit for a minute, then replugged it in. Nothing has changed. My former network is gone. When I go to the airpot utility on my computer, the message "no configured AirPort base stations have been found. AirPort Utility will continue searching" just sits there forever, and the litle white circle just keeps circling and nothing happens.
Clicking on "Other Wi-Fi Devices" - both options are grayed and not available.
On the tool bar, all options under "Base Station" are grayed out.
Any ideas?

Reset and start over.. sadly it is often the only way.
Do not forget to set ipv6 to link-local in wireless network settings.

IPv6 is essential for this to work.
If you have ethernet port on the computer plug in the devices by ethernet and manually open them.. this is a pain but can be done.
Find out the IP address of the device. when you plug it in that might show up as the router address.
So after a reset the router returns to default, 10.0.1.1 and the dhcp will work and hand out 10.0.1.2 as the first address.
Then you can manually force the airport utility to work.
