NULL output Device creation in SPAD
Dear Guru's,
To Preventing the creation of spool request for all users. We can assign an output device with the name NULL. It means that no spool requests are created for those users in SAP. Could you please some one let me know, how to create NULL output Device in SAP and is there any other setting we need to do at OS level.
Thanks,
Hi,
Please refer the below note and link which should answer your query. As per my knowledge I think you have to create one output device name NULL in SPAD Tcode.
Note 181571 - Output device NULL

How do I know where output devices are referenced?
When deleting an Output device using transaction SPAD, how do you where this output device was reference? E.g. Batch jobs, user default, etc. Ideally, I would like a program that can take an output device as an input and give me back everywhere the output device is reference within SAP.
I don't know and Ok, try RSPO0040 (better than nothing), but I really consider this challenge bordering on impossible in any non trivial scenario, if the whole output devices setup has not been thought through from get go (with logical output devices being "exposed" by spool system) and the changes being done under conditions of iron fist discipline... Not one of 5 productive instances I've worked on had a semblance of order in printer setup by the time I got there, not one had a concept, description, anything for printer setup... by the time I had to take care of the stuff I was happy if there was at least any naming convention used.
There are around 150 DB tables that have data element RSPOPNAME in it... more of tables if you consider other data elements for domain RSPOPNAME and who can say if it's only RSPOPNAME... Device names get assigned to SET/GET parameters, to custom development customizing tables not using RSPOPNAME, they get hard-coded in programs, stored in report variants - utter chaos is "normal" state of things in my experience . If you know what functionality is in use in the system (which SAP modules), you can narrow down, but asking for where used list of any reliability for whole SAP - impossible challenge.
cheers

Output device in SPAD/Smartform
Hi All,
We have a ouput device created through SPAD transaction with a name of 14 characters.
We want to pass the output device name to the Smartform. But the smartform has a parameter of ssfcompop-tdest of only 4 characters.
We do not want to change the output device name from 14 characters to 4 characters.
Is there any alternative to pass the Output device name to smartform without changing the name of output device.
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
PrashantHi prashant,
even you create 14 chars or 20 chars it doesn't matter. but we will pass the short name not the name which you created 14 chars. i guess you might gave <b>short name</b> for your printer in SPAD while creating check it, that you have to pass.

The coding is as follows:

l_s_ssfctrlop-getotf = 'X'.
l_s_output_options-tddest = 'LOCL'.
l_s_output_options-tdnoprint = 'X'.
CALL FUNCTION 'SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'
Please let me know what is the issue here.
Thanks,
Soumya.Hi,
Might be the local printer is not defined. Try using LP01.
To verify for LOCL...
Goto SPAD tcodeFull Administrations>Mention the LOCL in the Output Device I/0 Field.

Output devices list not appearing completely in the drop down list
Hi,
I have a query where I am not able to see all the 583 output devices in the drop down list of output device for a transaction code whereas I can see all the output devices in SPAD. Can anyone tell me the reason for this?
Thanks.
BrijeshDear Brijesh,
You can show all the value, click on the restriction button, then change the max numbers of hits to 10000,then you can list all the data in drop down, as per i know in standard it will only give you 500.

Dears SAPers,
We are having the following problem. The output device is change by one inexistent when the output is executed.
When the user creates the outbound delivery the output is determinate, but not prints yet (status not processed). Here the output device is correct and is the one set in the condition record. Then, when the user executes the post good issue the output device is change by one inexistent call SIS0, and the field Spool request: Name is complete with the name of the message.
Does anyone know what is happening?
I will reward.
Thanks in advance,Hi Emilio,
please first check the entry in table NAST, field LDEST. Is it correct after saving the delivery ?
I think the best is then to set a breakpoint during the creation of the goods issue in function module MESSAGING in order to find out if the printer is changed here. If this does not help please goto TA V/34, find out the used print program and set a breakpoint there (normally at the beginning of form ENTRY).

Hi All,
In SPAD there is output device FTP defined by SAP. I am trying to use this output type to send report output to FTP server.
When I run the report, I choose option List--> Print. In the pop up box I can enter printer name or E-Mail or FTP.
Does anyone know what is the configuration setting in SPAD for FTP output type? Do I have to enter a command that will trigger the FTP server.
Thanks and Have a great day.Do you mean your optical drive is not listed? What is listed…for example, Hard Drive?
What are your system specs?

Output device not changing in Spool
Dear Fellows,
I am having problem in the printing of purchase contracts. Users want to keep the output proposed in contract creation in pending status and keep on using it through ME9K by trial print out.
Original output is proposed with output medium of printout OK. Now if I change it to output medium fax in ME9K and do a trial fax it does not work. SP01 shows the original printer as output device and not the fax machine.
I am not sure where the problem is. Please help why output device is not changing when the output medium is changed ?
Tkx
IMJDear,
When in NACE tcode, you must be selected Application EV, then select output types button. Then select the output type for Fax->then branch to detail , go to default value tab: then you''ll find transmission medium. You can select "fax" or "external send".
If you're using external send, u need to maintain the "communication strategy"in
IMG-Application serverbasis servicesmessage controlDetermine Comm.Strategy, then name it and maintain the comm, typethen select the comm.method=fax.
