Null Pointer exception in ToplinkDataControlProvider

Hi all,
I'm using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 and ADF Faces with Toplink. After creating a new database diagram with new tables and creating physical tables in database, I have created POJO files from database objects. There is no problem at this point but when I want to create xml data control files for POJO files. The null pointer exception is thrown in the jdeveloper dialog window.

This time , After I removed (deleted) 2-3 POJO files (model files) which is mapped against database tables, I have tried to create POJO files again but jdeveloper IDE has shown error message via popup window. The exception message is given below:

I couldn't create POJO files and after clicking OK button in popup window; the progress indicator in another window which indicates the creation of POJO files moves continuously.... So please tell me, in where do I make mistake?

Is there a reason why this is and how do I get by it.
ii. Can I just add the field directly within the MDS>file/user.xml? Would there be an issue with changing an existing attribute metadata using the user.xml?

Pradeep thank you for your response. it was helpful. However, I also found the responses to both my questions.
i. The null pointer exception was due to using a complex query I was using in the LOV query. I tried a simple query and that worked fine.
ii. For modifying the user defined attributes one can consult the following forum post:

I am facing peculiar erro in code.I need to check the null entries in SAP server then it should be replaced by space and if not null then should be replaced by the value in backend.But it is throwing null pointer exception
I am using equalsignore case(null) and trim for space.

Better to give it any Constant like
priveate static final String NULL_CHECK = "DEL_VAL12";
rather than space ,at the time of chceking see if it has DEL_VAL12 if true then put the actual data else let it be there.

We are trying to make an project where we can make a person register in our data base & after which he/she can search for other user.
The logged in user can modify his/her own data but can view other ppl's data.
We are in a phase of registering the user & that's where we are stuck. The problem is that after the login screen when we hit register (OK- button) the data are not getting entered in the data base.

Null pointer exception and servlet

I cant figure out why i am getting a null pointer exception. this works if i keep my form output in the same class as my driving servlet. All i did was break off the html display to a new form and i get a null pointer exception.
this is just an excerpt. no reason to post the whole form.

anyway to write the system.err to an html screen with
a servlet?Why would you ask that? Surely you should have asked "Any way to write a stack trace to an HTML screen from a servlet?"
And in fact there is. I am sure you have not yet looked up the Exception class and the versions of its printStackTrace() method. But when you do, you will see that there are printStackTrace(PrintStream) and printStackTrace(PrintWriter). And you know how to write HTML (or text in general) to the servlet response so that it shows up in the client's browser, right? I will let you figure out how to put those things together.

Null Pointer Exception and Illegal Arguement when ran with Wireless Toolkit

The following code throws a null pointer exception after it tried to initialize the textBox. I am not sure if there is something I am not importing, or if it's just because I'm sick and my head is cloudy. :-}.

Here is the problem:
tbHelp = new TextBox("HeLp", "You can press the back button", 25, 0);
This line declares a maximum textbox size of 25 but in reality he is declaring a textbox of size 29.
Thats why it is throwing the illegal argument.

Your problem is in your ExtendedPage.java file. You can fix this by changing the line
private JTextField objJTextField = null;to:

JAX-WS Client throws NULL Pointer Exception in NW 7.1 SP3 and higher

My JAX-WS client is throwing an exception when attempting to create a client to connect to the calculation service. The exception is coming out of the core JAX-WS classes that are part of NetWeaver. (see exception below)

I have done some research and it appears that as of NetWeaver 7.1 SP3 SAP stopped using the SUN JAX-WS runtime and implemented their own SAP JAX-WS runtime. I also took the time to decompile the jar file that contained the SAPServiceDelegate class which is throwing the null pointer exception. (see method from SAPServiceDelegate below)

The exception is being throw on the line where the interfaceMap.getPortType() is being passed into the getInterfaceData method. I checked the getInterfaceMapping method which returns the interfaceMap (line above the line throwing the exception). This method returns NULL if an interface cannot be found. (see getInterfaceMapping method below)

We have a Crystal Designer/Developer Version 11.5.10.1263. We develop reports using this.
Most of the reports have SQL Command mode design with JNDI/JDBC connection. It gets deployed with our Web application. And during runtime, when users access these reports from our web application, we typically use Java Reporting Component with Crystal Report Viewer SDK to open and display the report to the user.
Besides other issues, current problem I am having is:
I have a sub-report in my report. I am connecting to Oracle database. If this sub-report does not return any rows, I was getting a Null Pointer Exception. This seems to be a known bug. This happened to us when we had just the above mentioned components.
We recently upgraded just the JAR libraries to the ones packaged in CR4E (Crystal Reports For Eclipse) - initially to get more exporting capability.This upgrade gets us past the Null Pointer Exception issue.
Now, I am getting an error like "Unexpected database connector error". Please see the exception stack trace below if needed. Since we are a product and this display is specific to one out of about 100 different clients; with all the time we spent on making this report stuff work against this oracle DB client, we had finally ended up creating the display in JSP into our general product just for one of about 100 clients. Client must be the Lucky one...As a developer, I felt really frustrated.
One note:- SQL Server DB works perfect.
Other thing - Do we need to change any API calls after upgrading the JARS from standard JRC/Viewer to CR4E package?

I have exactly the same problem. Had posted it on the forum last week, but haven't received any response yet. I just file a single support case ($195) with SAP. If I hear anything useful back, will keep you posted. Please let me know if you are able to resolve the problem.
In my case, I can get my report to work with a single subreport. When I put multiple subreports, I get the same error as you are currently getting.
Check if your report has any special section formatting (conditional suppression etc). Try to remove those to see if it helps at all.

ViewDocument.jsp gets null pointer exception when using report token instead of docid for DHTML

The following command gets a null pointer error showing up in Tomcat log:../../viewers/cdz_adv/viewDocument.jsp?sEntry=<%=strEntry%>&lang=en&iDocID=830&ViewType=I&kind=Webiwhere sEntry is a valid report token but works fine if the ViewType is H or id=830 is used instead of sEntry. When the above command is issued the drill columns are displayed correctly but no report is shown and a null pointer exception is encountered.

Null pointer Exception with Float.parseFloat

I need to assign a float value from a database to a variable recurrently throughout a while loop. but i am getting a null pointer exception error:

Null pointer exception means that the value you are trying to turn into a Float is null. Probably request.getParameter("echo") returns null.
Is "echo" a request parameter, or a field you want to get from the database?
request.getParameter() has nothing to do with a database query.
That is your http request coming from the form submission. It won't change.
If "echo" is meant to be a request parameter, then make sure the parameter is actually present.
If its a database field (stored as a number) then
float corr = rs.getFloat("echo");
should do the trick.
Can the value be null in the database?

Crystal report (crystalReportsViewer) crash with null pointer exception

Hi,
My application are simple : m_crystalReportsViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = report; but in throw exception null pointer when I call showDialog.
I see in code, we have method ShowTabHeader.

throws null pointer exception.

A lot I don't understand in here... actually, I don't understand anything in your post:
When you call ShowDialog, what exactly are you trying to show? The code is the decompiled showtabheader method of the viewer. So, are you trying to override the viewer control and reportalbum? My guess is that the null reference is for the reportalbum's child object which is not the reportalbum object of the viewer. I don't understand why the code since its all handled internally to the viewer anyhow.
Perhaps searching the forum for code sample will help?

Error:null pointer exception in jsp

I try to write a programme for copying from one file to another file in a text format.but it is displaying the error.why the null pointer exception is coming.also i want to write the contents from combobox and text box to that same file.for that what to do? can u explain.

Am not getting exception now.In the jsp wer I ve written connection,am taking some values using request.getParameter("msg") . I had opened the connection statement before getting these parameter values.Think I ws getting null pointer exception due to this.Now I have opened connection after getting these parameter values...anyway am not getting the exception now...

Java Null Pointer Exception while Importing a Table to IS

Hello All,
I am trying to import a table into IS and receiving a JAVA Null Pointer Exception. The table is in a Teradata database and I am able to import other tables belonging to the same schema.I get the Java error only while trying to import this one particular table. The DBA has confirmed that the table belongs to the schema/owner I am using. In any case, it seems more of a application error than a database level error. Can anyone provide any insight? page doesn't give error and saves data.
