Nullpointer when starting application.
Sometimes when i start my application with java web start, a nullpointer exception accurs, but it doesn't affect the application. And seems to happen randomly.
Exception in thread "Thread-3" java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.sun.javaws.Launcher$2.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
The application still starts, and apparently runs without problems.
Can anyone explain this?
/Kenneth
hi Sid,
Thanks problem was the way I was accessing the values. But still its not clear how error was coming in wdMOdify method when at start it should not run at the load time.
And (!firsttime) can be used in case something is modify and screen rendering has happened more than once.

(1) WEB-INF/faces-config.xml
(2) some xml files you specify using the context-param element of WEB-INF/web.xml
(3) META-INF/faces-config.xml files included in all jar files
Check the all configuration files and see whether they have doubled elements

The application runs fine on weblogic.
I have no idea how to debug this issue.
Few other applications runs fine on glassfish.
I tested on GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 3.1.2.2, windows 64, JDK 1.6.0_24
Best Regards,
MiroslawI fixed the problem myself.
My application contained a xml-apis.jar in which SAX parser has been set to non-Oracle implementation, removing this jar fixes the problem.

NullPointerException when start application in portal
Hello gurus,
I have inserted web application (CRM e-commerce) in EP through ISA application iViews. Error message appears (with exception number) when start it. Portal log contains next record that corresponds to the message:
java.lang.NullPointerException
com.sap.pct.crm.channelmgmt.framework.LandscapeProperties.getCookieNameForSession(LandscapeProperties.java: 142).
Any Ideas?
Regards,
KirillHello Kirill,
I would rather use the ISA iView that comes with the CRM business package than using the URL iView. The ISA iView gives a better "deep" integration since it uses "entrypoint.do" in the URL than the standard "init.do".
Please see the
[Note 1021959 - Portal settings for ISA iViews|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1021959].
If you have not done the configuration of the portal integration yourself, please check the "System Object" that has been defined for this. The "Logon Method" is set to "SAP Logon Ticket". See if this is what you want to change.
BTW, why would you want to use ISA in portal without Single Sign On? Is it for testing purposes?
Cheers,
Easwar Ram

Changing application position on desktop when starting application
Is there a way to change the screen position of an application when I am starting the application? Every time I open QuickTime, it starts in the upper left corner.
Even after moving and closing the application it starts up in the upper left corner again.Settings like this are generally application dependent - that is, you can do it if the application gives you some kind of control over default window positions. Most don't, since the standard is for the upper-left corner. There's no easy way around this

Problems when starting applications on my new iBook. Please help!
I have just bought myself a nice shiny new iBook G4 running 10.4.4. My problem is this -
When I start Firefox or Entourage it comes up all the time saying "would you like to make this your default browser/mail application"??
Has anyone got an idea as to why my iBook is doing this? My prefs are set in Safari for the default browser to be Firerfox and I haven't even loaded up Apple Mail on this new iBook so I cannot understand why it is doing it!
Any info appreciated, I'm sure it is just an oversight on my part.
Thanks!!
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.2)Hi Gilford,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Apple Mail and Safari are the default mail/browser programs in Tiger.
In case you install any 3rd party software of same kind, Firefox and Entourage in your case, the predefined preferences are usually set to prompt the user if one's going to accept them as default programs of their functionality.
To eliminate this effect, please try to locate the preferences settings in Firefox and Entourage and uncheck the relevant feature asking such dialog, or check any feature that makes the program default. However, the simplest action that makes both programs default is answering 'yes' to their dialogs:)
Anyway, this is perfectly normal when you start off with your new accounts.
Best wishes, Michael -

Null pointer exception when starting application
Hi:
I had a application running fine, then i had to change some parameters in my RFC. I reimported the model, removed all the excess mapping, rebuild, deployed , restarted the server.
Then when i run the application, i get the below error.
Anyone has any idea?

You said:
<i>"I had a application running fine, then i had to change some parameters in my RFC. I reimported the model, removed all the excess mapping, rebuild, deployed , restarted the server."</i>
You have removed all mappings between controller and view.
But, have you removed bindings between context attributes and view elements?
I guess problem is in binding between context and ui elements only.
Check it out and let me know.

How to choose different SSO/OID resource name - when start application?
Background
We are new to 10g(10.1.2.0.2)
We have an environment where we have a front end 10g application (set of screens, menus, reports etc) that we like to be able to run against different backends. Eg one database for one set of data and another database with a different set of data.
We have several users and we created one SSO/OID account/username for each person and one resource type for each username/password@database that they need to have access to. We decided to name the resource type with the same name as the database for ease of memory.
The first time that a person logs on, enters their SSO u/p SSO asks the users for their default u/p@db since the formsweb.cfgs ssoDynamicResourceCreate=true. This creates yet another resource in SSO/OID for the user. From then on the people never get the option to go into one of the other databases ie to use one of their other SSO/OID resources.
We do not want any passwords to be written into the formsweb.cfg file.
Question
How can we get our people to use SSO to open their front end but be able to chose a non default resource to open the application against a different backend/database?
TaOracle Forms can use only a resource with a name equal to the config section you are using to start your application. This in contrast to reports where the SSOCONN parameter can be used to differentiate between resources.
The solution is to use a different config section for each environment. You can for example make an html page on which you have a link to all environments, each of these pointing to a url with a different config.
