Nullpointerexception adding SOAPHeaderElements

I am receiving a NullpointerException adding soap header elements to a soap messagecontext in a handler file. I am trying to add security header information to the header of a soap message calling a web service. I have tried many different methods to do this and I keep going down rabbit holes. I have been working on this for over two weeks. Please help

  • Error assigning users to application Role in Obiee 11.1.1.7.0

    Hello
    I installed Obiee 11.1.1.7.0 both on Windows and Linux platform and after that, I successfully set Active Directory integration. I have a problem assigning users to Application Role in EM. When I'm trying to search a user on Display name, the Principal userName returned is blank and the error is : Java Null Pointer Exception
    After that I install a fresh copy of 11.1.6.0. After AD Integration, I was able to assign users to Application Role. I made 11.1.1.7.0 upgrade and same error has come. I think this is a bug because same AD settings on 11.1.1.6.0 works.
    The error:

    We received from Oracle a work-around of this problem.
    It seems to be related to the virtualize flag set to true. I f you set it to false the problem disappear (it works for me).
    (rif. http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/bi.1111/e10543/privileges.htm#BABDCJBH)
    There's an open BUG on this problem: Bug 16808088 - 11G JAVA.LANG.NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION ADDING USER TO ROLE AFTER UPGRADE TO 11.1.1.7.
    Hope this works.

    Why dont you try doing this from application.
    Enable the integrator 'Web ADI - Interface Columns Integrator' using below query :
    UPDATE bne.bne_integrators_b
    set enabled_flag = 'Y'
    where integrator_code = 'INTERFACE_COLS';
    commit;Next create a WEB ADI Form Function and do form function association. Then attach this form function to WEB ADI Menu and this integrator will be visible.
    Then call your custom integrator paiing application_id, interface_code and then populate the values/properties of individual column

  • NullPointerException when adding object in a Collection

    Hello,
    I have this code:
    ----code----
    Group group = new Group("test");
    Collection col = null;
    col.add(group);
    ----code----
    The last line produces a NullPointerException.
    But group is a valid object.
    I don't understand why.
    Could you help me?
    Thanks
    Sylvain

    As a side note,
    If you are fairly new to Java, then its worth reading about the Collections API as you'll find yourself using it a lot. Its also a create example of how powerful interfaces are.
    In your code, try and make the compile time object a Collection and always pass the Collection interface around. (i.e. make the return type and parameter type of your methods Collection). This should let you do all the stuff you need e.g. getting objects out, putting them in and getting an iterator.
    Only tie the Colection to a particular implementation at Runtime, e.g.
    Collection c = new ArrayList();
    is a lot better than
    ArrayList c = new ArrayList();
    That way, if you decide later that a HashSet() is better than an ArrayList() for your purpose, you only need to change one line of code. HashSet still implements Collection so all your methods will still work.
    Hurrah for maintainable code!
    As you can tell, I like interfaces

        - This makes your code easier to read by preserving whitespace and highlighting java syntax.
        - Copy&paste your source code directly from your editor. The forum editor basically sucks.
        - The forums tabwidth is 8, as per [the java coding conventions|http://java.sun.com/docs/codeconv/].
          - Indents will go jagged if your tabwidth!=8 and you've mixed tabs and spaces.
          - Indentation is essential to following program code.
          - Long lines (say > 132 chars) should be wrapped.
    * Post your error messages between a pair of &#123;code} tags:
        - That is: &#123;code} ... errors here ... &#123;code}
        - OR: &#91;pre]&#123;noformat} ... errors here ... &#123;noformat}&#91;/pre]
        - To make it easier for us to find, Mark the erroneous line(s) in your source-code. For example:
            System.out.println("Your momma!); // <<<< ERROR 1
        - Note that error messages are rendered basically useless if the code has been
          modified AT ALL since the error message was produced.

  • Fishy: NullPointerException upon adding JButton to JTextField

    Hi all,
    Does anyone know why this code is throwing a NullPointerException?
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicArrowButton;
    import javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalScrollButton;
    public class fishy extends JTextField {
        JButton chooseBut;
        public fishy() {
         chooseBut = new MetalScrollButton(SwingConstants.SOUTH, 15, false);
         Dimension s = getPreferredSize();
         chooseBut.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(30, s.height));
         setLayout(new BorderLayout());
         add(chooseBut, BorderLayout.EAST);
         setMaximumSize(new Dimension(800,28));
        public void setEditable(boolean b) {
         chooseBut.setEnabled(b);
         super.setEditable(b);
        public static void main(String[] args) {
         try {
             UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getCrossPlatformLookAndFeelClassName());
             JFrame fr = new JFrame("fishy");
             fishy f = new fishy();
             fr.getContentPane().add(f);
             f.setEditable(true);
             fr.pack();
             fr.setVisible(true);
         } catch (Exception e) {
             e.printStackTrace();
    }Thanks.

    I guess that the constructor of JTextField is calling setEditable() before your class is fully constructed.
    Workaround: change your setEditable() method to
    public void setEditable(boolean b) {
                                       if(chooseBut != null) {
         chooseBut.setEnabled(b);
    super.setEditable(b);

  • NullPointerException

    I have classes CDRack, Record and TestProgram.
    When I am trying to run TestProgram I have runtime error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at CDRack.insert(Record,int) (CDRack.java:88) (pc 7)
    at Tester63.testAddings (Tester63.java:62) (pc 64)
    What's wrong in the class CDRack, method insert?
    /** Class CDRack represents collections of compact discs. Discs are
    located in the rack in slots numbered from zero upwards. The discs
    are represented by Record objects and empty slots by null values. */
    public class CDRack extends Object {
    /**Creates a new, empty CD rack.
    Parameters:
    size - the size of the new rack, i.e. the number of slots it has */
    public CDRack(int size) {
        collection = new Record[size];
        this.size = size;
    /**Inserts a cd in the given rack slot if the slot in question is empty.
    Parameters:
    disc - the cd to be added in the rack
    slot - the number of a (hopefully empty) slot
    Returns:
    a boolean value indicating if the insertion was successful. */
    public boolean insert(Record disc,
                          int slot) {
      if (collection[slot].equals(null)) {
         collection[slot] = record;
         return true;
      else return false;
    }

    I suspect it is the line that reads
    if (collection[slot].equals(null))
    If the array entry at collection[slot] is null this will indeed cause a NullPointerException. If you are trying to test for a null entry, which is what it looks like you need to do it like this
    if (collection[slot] == null)

    Thanks for noting that.
    you mean like this?
    public void addEntry(TableData data){
            myTableModel.addRow(data);
            javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
                @Override
                public void run(){
                        myTableModel.fireTableRowsInserted(0,0);
        }both work,
    would putting "invokeLater" inside "addEntry" somehow mess other things?
    i guess that means addRow() is not supposed to update the table graphically?

    * TableSorter is a decorator for TableModels; adding sorting
    * functionality to a supplied TableModel. TableSorter does
    * not store or copy the data in its TableModel; instead it maintains
    * a map from the row indexes of the view to the row indexes of the
    * model. As requests are made of the sorter (like getValueAt(row, col))
    * they are passed to the underlying model after the row numbers
    * have been translated via the internal mapping array. This way,
    * the TableSorter appears to hold another copy of the table
    * with the rows in a different order.
    * <p/>
    * TableSorter registers itself as a listener to the underlying model,
    * just as the JTable itself would. Events recieved from the model
    * are examined, sometimes manipulated (typically widened), and then
    * passed on to the TableSorter's listeners (typically the JTable).
    * If a change to the model has invalidated the order of TableSorter's
    * rows, a note of this is made and the sorter will resort the
    * rows the next time a value is requested.
    * <p/>
    * When the tableHeader property is set, either by using the
    * setTableHeader() method or the two argument constructor, the
    * table header may be used as a complete UI for TableSorter.
    * The default renderer of the tableHeader is decorated with a renderer
    * that indicates the sorting status of each column. In addition,
    * a mouse listener is installed with the following behavior:
    * <ul>
    * <li>
    * Mouse-click: Clears the sorting status of all other columns
    * and advances the sorting status of that column through three
    * values: {NOT_SORTED, ASCENDING, DESCENDING} (then back to
    * NOT_SORTED again).
    * <li>
    * SHIFT-mouse-click: Clears the sorting status of all other columns
    * and cycles the sorting status of the column through the same
    * three values, in the opposite order: {NOT_SORTED, DESCENDING, ASCENDING}.
    * <li>
    * CONTROL-mouse-click and CONTROL-SHIFT-mouse-click: as above except
    * that the changes to the column do not cancel the statuses of columns
    * that are already sorting - giving a way to initiate a compound
    * sort.
    * </ul>
    * <p/>
    * This is a long overdue rewrite of a class of the same name that
    * first appeared in the swing table demos in 1997.

    The code you posted doesn't help us at all. Its just a duplicate of the code from the tutorial. The custom code is what you have written. For example do you update the TableModel from the Event Thread? Do you update the SortModel or the DefaultTableModel? If you actually provide your test code and somebody has already downloaded the sort classes, then maybe they will test your code against the classes. But I doubt if people will download the sort classes and create a test program just to see if they can duplicate your results (at least I know I'm not about to).

  • Cry for HELP!! -- ArrayList NullPointerException Error

The transfer of data between servlets and classes is good, because I'm printing them out to System.out (for debug purposes)... but adding the instantiated object to the arraylist keeps throwing NullPointer Error. Please review codes to help me determine error. I just can't figure this out! And this is due yesterday. Pls help!!!!

  • Getting "java.lang.NullPointerException" error message when trying to run an OATS OpenScript file from Eclipse to Create a record in Oracle EBS

    Hello,
    I'm trying to run a simple OpenScript script in Eclipse that creates a record (a Supplier in this case) in Oracle E-Business Suite. So I copied the the script file from OpenScript and created it as a Class in Eclipse.  Then I created a main class to call the methods within the script class but no matter what method I call (initialize, run or finalize) I'm getting the java.lang.NullPointerException message. The error doesn't seem to be related with any specific line in the script but with the way that I'm calling it.
    Should I call the OpenScript class from my main class in a different way? (see my examples below)
    BTW, all external .jar files coming with OATS have been added to my project in Eclipse.
    1) Here's the main class I created to call the OpenScript method (Eclipse auto-corrected my main class adding a Try and Catch around the method call):
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            nvscript nvs = new nvscript();
            try {
                nvs.initialize();
            } catch (Exception e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
    2) Here's the script from OpenScript (the actual script has more steps but I'm just using the first one for a proof of concept):
    import oracle.oats.scripting.modules.basic.api.*;
    import oracle.oats.scripting.modules.browser.api.*;

  • Adding a file to an already created Archive throws error

    Hello Experts,
    In one of the WLST python scripts, we had a piece of code which was adding a file to an already created archive. Below is the code snippet:
    import zipfile
    try:
    conn='1.properties'
    fileName='/home/pbnagara/temp/Zip1.par'
    myZip = zipfile.ZipFile(fileName, mode='a')
    myZip.write(conn)
    myZip.close()
    except Exception:
    print 'Exception occurred while writing to Zip file: ' + fileName
    --> it makes use of the standard python module [zipfile] to add a file to the archive.
    This code has started failing [for some strange unknown reason] when we upgraded.
    The same script works fine in a standalone mode[using the system's default python packages] but fails only when run within WLST.
    Does WLST package a different set of zipfile libraries? Can anyone point out what might be going wrong here?

    I did get a reply from someone on the jfreechart forum, but need to ask more questions. This was his reply:
    Hi Allyson,
    You are trying to add a (subclass of) JFrame to a JPanel...that won't work, of course, and Java tells you so.
    You need to create a ChartPanel to display your chart. This is a subclass of JComponent, which you can happily add to a JPanel (or any other container).
    Regards,
    Dave Gilbert
    Here is the code for the method:

    chartPanel.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(500, 270));
    setContentPane(chartPanel);
    }And I tried this to add it to my panel:
    jPanel1.add(chartPanel, null);But I get this error:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    ChartPanel is defined globally in this file.
    jPanel1 is my main panel that I want to add the chart to.
    I am putting my last duke dollar on this in the hopes that someone can help. Thanks.
