NullPointerException in SerialResultSet.next

java.sql.SQLException: java.lang.NullPointerException
at weblogic.jdbc.rmi.SerialResultSet.next(SerialResultSet.java:77)
This only happens when running in a horizontal cluster and is not
repeatable. This is on weblogic 6.1 sp3 using i-net XDataSource
driver against MS SQL 2000.

The stack trace contains .next()
Maybe there is some internal problem like the found entry's not containing every necessary attribute.

    My problem is special, we change the AM configuration to EJB (2.1 stateful, let's put performance issue aside) and deploy remotely, however, there's a NullPointerException occurred at the same line number as your case when we change the task flow id of the dynamic region, because the ADF framework always calls Rollback during region refresh, this Rollback cause the NullPointerException. Even if I caught and ignore this error, there will be always a NullPointerException thrown the next time we do any VO attribute update (kind of same as the blog entry described below).

    If getResultSet() returns a non-null, and the first thing yo do afterwards is call rs.next()
    it shouldn't throw an exception. Download our latest driver from our site, and make sure it's
    ahead of all our server stuff in the weblogic.classpath, by editing the startWeblogic script.

  • JMS server hangs!?

    Hi all:
    It seems the JMS server hangs in WLS 6.1 after one Tx timeout due to
    some reason. The following is the tread dump. Can anyone tell me why? or
    any hints?
    The WLS server still functions, web server and app server both are

    Minjiang, the stack trace reports a transaction timeout. This can happen
    druing a long running bean process , and will be further aggrevated if you
    are running in debug mode. Try increasing the timeout in your deployment
    descriptor, or, optimize your code ;)

    Please describe the actual symptoms you are seeing (as oppposed
    to the moer general statement that the JMS server hangs).
    Can you get an application to attach to the server (create
    an initial context and do some JNDI lookups). Can that
    application then create a JMS connection, a JMS session,
    and so forth. At what point does it hang. How do you
    know it is hung? what is not happening? what do you
    expect to happen? Do you have listeners that stop
    responding? Do you see messages in the destinations
    from the console? What JVM is this?

    Maybe you need to have this variable refer to some non-null object? Just a thought.
    Sorry, not meaning to be smug (OK, maybe a little), but what do you expect will happen if you do:
    MidiEvent recMSG = null;
    MidiMessage getMSG1 = recMSG.getMessage();You're trying to call a method on a null object, so of course you'll have a NPE. The solution: get a decent MidiEvent object first before trying to call a method on it. I'm not familiar with Java Midi programming, but it almost sounds as if a MidiEvent object would be passed as a parameter to the method for a Midi-Listener of some type. I'm sure the API will show you the way.

    My guess is that this is a multithreading/synchronization issue.
    Your class has Connection and ResultSet as member variables.
    In multithread environment (a servlet) it possible that different
    threads will call methods on the instance of the class producing
    this exception as a result.
    The solution would be either avoiding using this class from
    different threads or making the JDBC object local to the
    methods.

  • Getting java.lang.NullpointerException while closing resultset aft using it

    Hi,
    I kindly request to share your ideas reg. my problem.
    I am opening a database connection using connection pool and i am using two or more resultsets and statement objects.I am closing these objects at the end of their usage.But i am getting java.lang.NullpointerException when i close them(if i don't close them it works fine). what might be the reason. Had i did any thing wrong in the code.

  • Dynamic Attributes with UDF - NullPointerException

    I want to set the file name of an file receiver by means of setting dynamic attributes in an UDF.
    I use the following code and map the output to the root node of the target message (one input variable is var1)

    Could the reason be, that setting dynamic attributes does not work when testing a mapping as the mapping has to be called by the IE runtime or is there any other reason?

    Hi Florain,
    I can understand, but that is how it is designed because the filename paramter can be picked up only during the runtime. But if you use other parameters like interface, sender name etc you can test it in mapping. Please go to test tab and click on parameters  tab. There you see few parameters for runtime also. You can put some value there and then you can test the mapping and you will not receive that error. You dont have filename there, so thats the reason why you are getting error. Hope in next release SAP would come up with this option.

    Has anyone tried using WSIF in Oc4j,

    I've been having multiple problems with FB 4.7 - in one project, over the span of two weeks, I've had to deal with
    1) Bitmaps that do not have an alpba channell being silently skipped from the library.swc (fixed by forcing custom quality)
    2) Flash builder not presenting a password prompt during AIR publishing and then complaining about the non-password being incorrect (fixed by packaging using command line, later by resizing the window unttil it refreshes and shows the dialog)
    3) Flash builder constantly failing to compile, seemingly at random, throwing java NullPointerExceptions

    Flex Problem
    Curiously enough, the error seems to be mostly random - whenever it happens, I switch to FDT, do some work there - maybe add a couple classes, do some refactoring, and chances are the error will disappear, just like it appeared - out of nowhere, with no rhyme or reason. It may be renaming a class, it may be a day's work - eventually it does go away.
    Other things that may make the error disappear is commenting out the offending functions.
    Apparently FB 4.7 simply hates Vectors, as they are usually causing the exception. In particular a vector's length property.
    Project uses 1 lib and 1 src folder - no externally linked projects, although a different Flash Builder Pure Actionscript project is used with Flash CC to build a component library.
    Using AIR SDK 3.8. I am able to get a working air 3.8 package (occasionally) so the SDK is probably setup OK.
    I've run accross all sorts of odd bugs and quirks of Flash so I'm pretty forgiving - but 4.7 is a trainwreck.

    I also tried with replacing -verbose-stacktraces=true with -compiler.verbose-stacktraces=true as I've seen in some examples but nothing happens.
