Num/Cap lock blinking and computer screen not starting

ok. i have a HP pavilion entertainment pc dv7 notebook.
1) For the last 3 weeks my screen would turn off randomly. maybe once every other day or so on. The computer would stay on and my ligths on the keyboard,( VOL bar, Multimedia buttons, Wifi button, Mute button, Caps lock and Num lock) .Only thing that would turn off is my Monitor. Sometimes when it turns off my speakers would make a status sound across the sound bar. But i can be on my computer for hours, or even leave my computer on for days with the screen open and it wont do anything.
2) then for that last few days i notice when i turn on my computer everything would turn on EXCEPT THE MONITOR. then i hold down the power button and turn it back on and it starts up fine.
3) Then yesterday when i tried turning it on. Same thing monitor wouldnt turn on but my NUM/Caps lock would blink. So again i would turn the laptop off , turn it back on and now its up and running
I really rely on my computer so i was considering taking it to a local tech but i wanna know the issue so he doesnt give me some kinda Jive turkey story. I would just start rening a computer from Aarons rent but dont think there computers are any good for my gaming. Starcraft 2, league of legends ecct.

Please try a hard reset and see if it works.
1. Power off your laptop
2. Remove the a/c adapter, battery and everything that is attached to your laptop.
3. Hold the 'POWER 'button down on your laptop for about 10 seconds.
4. Plug in the a/c power supply (without battery) and power on.

Hello everyone! I would like to get a solution to a problem I've been having with my laptop; if no solution, then a reason for my problem would be great. My laptop has recently stopped booting up correctly. Basically the screen is black and will not turn on. The NUM LOCK and CAPS LOCK LED lights flash a number of times before the computer shuts down. When I turn on the computer I can hear the fan and the hard drive running but no screen. I have been able to take out the hard drive from the laptop in hopes of salvaging important documents and I was able to do so by connecting it to a desktop. Is there anyway to fix my screen and save my laptop? Thank you in advance for any help.

I see that you have a blank display with your notebook. I will try to help you with this.
From what you describe this could be indicating that something in the notebook is not working correctly, right now I wouldn't be able to tell you what but can provide you two documents that might be able to identify what.
Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps - this document may be able to assist you with the flashing LEDs your getting when trying to start the notebook. Watch to see if you can identify an error pattern. If you can compare it to the table in that document. This will provide an idea to what may be failing.
Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot - if the above document could not direct you to something failing, then follow this one.
Let me know where the above documents lead you.

Scroll & Caps Lock blinking - DV4-1120 does not boot. :-(

My dv4-1120US had stopped working - I had opened it up (following the instructions in the manual) and put it back together after cleaning the inside (fan, etc.) with compressed air. After I put it back together and turned it on, the main LEDs came on - the fan turned on for a few secs - and nothing happens beyond that, although the scroll and cap light blinks - it blinks once every sec s three times, and then pauses for three secs and then repeats ....
I removed the power, removedthe batteries, reset the machine, and even removed the cmos battery and reinstalled it, and reseated the RAM - but to no avail.
Any ideas?
Why did I open my computer?:- My dv4-1120 US has been running hot / warm with a loud fan noise for a few mos, but recently it started turning itself off intermittently (no pattern). I wanted to clean the insides in case there was dust that was causing this issue. That's the reason why I opened the computer.
Appreciate your insight.

Good news for the person with the 3 blinks... it is the memory and if you have working RAM (and compatible!) you should be able to get it work... Bad news for me... mine does not stop blinking and they do not have LED error code description for me. Which tells me I'm completly screwed if the LED error code does not function correctly...

HP Laserjet p1102w blue WIRELESS light keeps blinking and computer is not able to locate the printer

Have been using the printer on wireless and it was working fine until I had to cancel a print and might have accidentally press wireless button and "X" cancel button together and havn't been able to print since.
Did everything:
- update firmware: LJP1100_P1560_P1600_FW_Update.dmg
- update printing software: HP-ePrint_v2.4.1.dmg
- Reinstall wireless setting
But the printer will now shot from Add new printer- Bonjour setting.
The odd thing is When I switch the wifi on computer on and off the printer will show in Add new printer- Bonjour setting, for a second and disappear again.
The printer still works via cable.
There were 3 machine using the printer via wireless now has all same issue.

I see that you are having an issue with connecting the printer over the wireless connection.
I have a few steps that we can take to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that you do an uinstall of the software and drivers and reinstall. Please click on the link that I have added for when The Printer is Not Found During Wireless Installation.

My HP G56 Wont turn on (Caps Lock Blink)

Heyy guys
so i turned on my HP G56 Laptop this morning and nothing happens but the caps lock blinking and the wifi and power lights are red. i found online some codes but the caps lock codes when upto six, my laptops caps lock keeps on blinking and doesnt stop. it blinks around every 4 seconds.
HELP????

I see that you are having some problems with your laptop. That blinking light does indicate a hardware problem. It should be blinking in some sort of pattern and it will repeat. If just keeps blinking every four seconds then it could be just one blink which would indicate a CPU failure. This HP support document on Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink will show you the various blink codes.
If you have purchased the laptop within the last year you are in warranty and I would recommend that you contact HP. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America. If you are out of warranty you can still contact HP but there would be a charge or you can take it to a local technician.

Hp pavilion g4 1104dx display white screen and caps lock blink twice

Hi i recently used my hp laptop screen to test another laptop acer aspire 5517. After the test i reconnected back the cable only to power it on a white screen appeared with caps lock blink twice. I thought the problem might be screen shot so i decided to connect to external monitor but still no signal on external monitor even after pressing fn+f4. What might be the problem thanks.

You had stated that you receive a White Screen and the Caps Lock are blinking twice. Please be very careful when it comes to blink patterns as sometimes there can be a pause between the blinking. Before you start troubleshooting, please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues. Bootup Blank Screen - caps lock light and wireless light only keep blinking

My HP compaq 420 was frozen, last night I forgot to shut down then when I press power button no display, fan keeps working and Caps lock light is kept blinking
I tried to remove battery and pressed power button for 60 sec but no response and I checked my RAM as well it perfectly alright.
Please help me.

I would like you to start with this document: Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps. This will help to try to identify if the Notebook is providing an error code. If it is, it will also provide steps to attempt to resolve the issue.

Hp probook 4420s does not start and continuously cap lock blinks

I have tried-------
1. Bios Recovery ( used windows key and B and power button)
2. changed the memory to another slot
3. Power button holding 3 times (15-20 sec) without connect AC & DC
Still remain the same problem:
Computer does not start and contineously blinking the cap lock
Note: Using Windows 7, when I updated then suddenly shut down the computer and does not start.

Try a hard reset as follows:
1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button
Please post your positive or negative results here in your thread.
Your notebook does not have Windows 8 installed, but almost everything in this troubleshooting document applies. Take a look at the blinking leds section. Blink codes are a diagnostic aid and the sequence of blinks repeat. There is a list which will tell you what the repeating blinks mean.

Pavilion dv6-7010us black screen, caps lock blinking indefinitely and orange wifi light

The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6-7010us resently installed windows 8.1 pro, 8gb ddr3 (4gbx2), 320gb hdd (not the original hdd)
i was giving a normal maintenance to the laptop to remove the dust, nothing of the other world, the machine where functioning pretty well 'till this moment, i turn on the laptop and i see the caps lock blinking at 1sec intervals and the wifi light in orange not blinking just led on when i turn on (NOT NUM LOCK LIGHT ON), and this is it, nothing more, i dont know what to do, i use the WINDOWS KEY + B to reset the BIOS and nothing, i leave the power botton hold for a minute without the battery nor the power source, and plug the cable and turn on again without the battery and nothing, also where testing changing the memory from slots i have 2 memories of 4gb and nothing, anybody can tell me any combination of keys to resolve this that i don't use yet?

What did the normal maintenance include-any disassembly? I assume the laptop is still under warranty?

Pavilion DV6, Black Screen and 3 Caps Lock Blink

HI,
I have an Hp Pavilion DV6 and I am getting the 3 blinks on the caps lock. When I turn on the PC it starts up, the caps lock blinks 3 times and the screen is just black. I have already tested the memory sticks, drain the battery, and hooking it up to an external monitor. Nothing shows on the other monitor and it just remains black. Please help!

I understand you are getting a blink pattern on the Caps lock LED, when you turn on the notebook. I am happy to help you with this.
I am including the page on the error codes for your reference: Blank Screen LED Error Codes
From that document the pattern you are getting indicates a memory problem. You said that you have tested the memory. What exactly did you try?
The document suggests reseating the RAM or trying a new set of RAM and then restarting the notebook. If you are still getting a memory problem after trying both of those things, ie a 3 blink code again, then it would likely suggest that there is a problem with the motherboard itself, either with the memory slot or one of the controllers related to memory.
In that case I would suggest contacting the technical phone support number at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

If however reseating the memory or replacing it leads to a different error code or message please let me know, Although in that case the following may be helpful if you still have a blank screen.

LEDs on caps lock, sound and wireless keys are not blinking any more

Dv6 Notebook "Black Screen" following "Windows Blue Screen" error message. Caps Lock blinking!

I have a HP DV6 notebook. I left my computer on overnight and the next morning I woke up to find a Windows Blue Screen error message. It said to restart my computer. I was in a rush so I just closed the lid. When I returned I opened the lid and the screen was black. I pressed the power button to restart it and I haven't been able to restart it since. I now have a power light, a black screen and the CAPS LOCK light is blinking twice then a pause! Please help!

For your error code, it means that the BIOS has a corruption failure. This document will walk you through the necessary steps to get this resolved.

Black screen with caps lock blinking

I was using my laptop and it was turned on and after some other work I wanted to use my laptop, the screen was black and caps lock was blinkingI turned it off manualy and it was again doing this. Caps Lock blinks 2 times after a pause of 4 seconds continously.
I tried reset and other things but its not showing anything.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your Compaq Presario CQ62-102TX Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore.

Blanc screen at startup / Caps lock blinking 3 times HP Pavilion dv7

Hello,
Hope someone can help me out.
First we received SMART warnings but we were still able to start up Windows in safe mode (took about 15 minutes and the laptop was getting warm). We took the HDD out and connected it via USB to an other PC. We could not read the content and needed to format the disk... did NOT do that. We kept the HDD "origional".
We bought an Samsung EVO 850 250 Gb SSD for the laptop... as replacement for the corrupted one and to upgrade the system. The main battery was removed, adaptor was not plugged in for a couple of days. Today we received the new SSD and installed it... but... the laptop is not starting up anymore! The screen stays completely blank. The F12 is lighting orange and the CAPS LOCK is blinking 3 times.
We've read several articles on forums and tried various suggestions:
- Changed the BIOS battery;
- Several "hard resets":
. removing adaptor and main battery and pushed the power button for 15 seconds;
. Windows, B and power button at startup;
. pressing F8 while booting;
- build the original HDD back in;
- removed the memory and tried all banks in all slots;
- connected external monitor;
- startup via bootable USB stick;
- cleaned the cooler fans (with compressed air spray);
- tried an other AC adaptor;
- tried without the main battery;
- tried to startup with no memory, no BIOS battery and no HDD installed.
Doesn't matter what we tried... after trying every suggestion the screen stays blank and the CAPS LOCK is still blinking 3 times repeatedly.
Anyone any idea what ik can try further? In my perception the BIOS is not loading at all?!?!

I understand that you are getting a repeating pattern of three flashes from the LEDs. I am happy to help with this.
Check out this page under the section for flashing LEDs. In that you will find that three LED flashes indicates a memory problem.
Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
Use the instructions on how to deal with that. I am a bit concerned that you have both a hard drive failure and a memory issue, but it is possible that the memory could have been disturbed when you were working with the hard drive. If the reseating of the memory does not help, I would try the memory in different slots and if you have more than one memory module try them one at a time in both slots to isolate which is the problem child. The worst case would be multiple bad memory modules and a defective set of sockets on the board.

Blank Screen; Caps lock Blink Twice Every 2/3 Seconds with orange wireless button.

Hi,
I am using my HP Pavilion DV6 7023tx laptop. It is 1 year 3 months older(warrenty expired). It was working fine but one evening i found it start with black screen and caps lock blink twich every 2/3 seconds and after some times it's getting hot.
I have tried to solve the issue accoroding to the following link

It looks like BIOS corruption failure. but it will not automatically recovering that mentioned in post.

Thanks for your response.
The last thing i did, remove CMOS battery and after a few minutes i plugged it.
Then connect AC power adapter and press power button.
Laptop starts but gives a error message
"The CMOS checksum is invalid, The BIOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted."
Finally laptop start normally. It works fine ...
But same problem when i restart
"blank screen caps lock blink 2 times every 3/4 sec"
So finally
1. remove CMOS battery and after a few minutes i plugged it again
2. connect AC power adapter and press power button
3. laptops starts normally (with a error msg same as previous)
4. Upgrade bios to F.29(previously i had F.24)
5. Everythings works fine (restart/shutdown have no effect)
