Number next to Email folder

On my 8330 home screen my email icon has a number next to it I can change this number by deleting email from the phone however, the number is like 48 when I only have maybe five email messages on my phone. Is this something to fret over? What's it mean? How do I delete these 'ghost' messages? -MikeT

while in messages, open menu key, select OPTIONS
in general options you can set SMS and MMS to combine with or seperate from the messages folder
also within your phone application, menu options, phone log
this controls whether phone logs go to the messages icon or not

View next received email when I click back into a folder

Hello
Does anyone know how to view the next new email without having to actually click into it?
I have rules sent to place emails in folders when I receive a new emails.
I used to be able to click that folder and it would highlight the most recent email and I could read it with the preview pane and then click to another folder and that email would be marked as read.
It only does this for the first mail of the day when I click back into the folder it shows me the first email received that day and not the most recent which obviously is the one I am interested in.
Does anyone know of a fix for this please. I cannot seem to find an answer in the forums all they seem to do is highlight other issues I have to look forward to, I have checked my rules, I have tried changing view settings and filters. Nothing seems to work
(as seems to be the case with most of microsofts products) I have a number of issues with this new look office, but this is the one that annoys me the most. I have workarounds for most of the other issues.
I would like to go back to office 2003, however this is part of a major upgrade (depending on your point of view) to our systems and as I am only an end user however I will not get a say.
If all else fails I will be blind by the end of the week and it will no longer be a concern (We have office 2013 on one screen and navision on the other) I suspect health and safety will insist on snow googles as standard equipment.
Any help or pointers from fellow sufferers would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook provides the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl + < (Last item) and Ctrl + > (Next item) to view the message after we open the email item.

Missing number of unread email.

I have a single user who has two mailboxes set up In outlook 13, both connected to exchange online.
Both of these mailboxes are set to display the number of unread emails next to the folder name however one of them stops doing this every few days, repairing the account resolves this but it is very frustrating for the user.
Even after it stops displaying the unread count the option shows as still selected in the folder properties.
Any ideas out there?

Please check if OWA shows correct number, and please launch Outlook with the switch command-line "Outlook.exe /safe" to check result.
Please ensure there is no rules, views or filters configured that may hide the unread emails from the view.
If there are several unread messages existing in mailbox, please try to mark them as read and then test the result in that situation.
You may also create a new profile and re-setup Exchange account to check result.

Song and Artist Info missing under itunes but not in the original file, and putting track number next to certian songs. Help

i recently updated my itunes...today i opened it up and moticed abuout 100 songs missing...they are now at the bottom of itunes song list with a number next to them with information mission such as this the example below
01 human                                                                 (this song should have the killers name as artist and cd title, etc)
01 hosanna     hillsong united                                 (this song should have the cd title to it)
02 lay me down                                          burning light
02 leave out all the rest
02 let it be                       the beatles
03 papercut
when i go under the original folders and files in the itunes folder everything is normal no missing info, etc. but under itunes orgnising its picking and choosing the same songs and putting the track number next to it and others songs in the same cd not. plus info missing. under the infor when i click right button all info missing there...but not under original file.
please help

A response on this subject from another post:
It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

Go to your Gmail account in the browser.
Hit the folder icon that brings up the folder selection.
Scroll down to the bottom and select desktop version.
The broswer will refresh and bring up your gmail account as though you were looking on it on the computer.
The go to the upper right corner and select settings.
Then go to forwarding and pop/imap
Go look at pop download
There you'll find 3 numbered lines
Go to 1. Status
And select enable pop for all mail
Then save the settings
Once you have done that you can go back to BlackBerry device settings and sync your mail or wait for it to sync it's self.
Let me know how it works out.
I just did it and it sync within minutes.

Why do we get a number next to a shared device in finder sidebar?

There are several possible causes for this behavior.
1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local". Resolve the name conflict by renaming one or more of them in the Sharing preference pane.
2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is a bug in OS X that may only affect some models. You can avoid it as follows:
Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences and unlock the settings, if necessary. Select the Power Adapter tab, if there is one. Uncheck the box marked
          Wake for Wi-Fi network access
if it's checked.
4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
6. If the router is an Apple device, it may need to be restarted.
7. A third-party Bonjour device on the network is malfunctioning. Finding out which is a process of elimination.
8. There is more than one DHCP server on the network. Typically, there would be two or more wireless access points configured to act as routers.

10. Back up all data. Make notes of your settings in the Network preference pane.

How do I return to my email folder when I close an email

Currently when I close a message I've been reading, the next message opens. I want instead to return to my email folder when I close an open email. How do I make this happen?

Well, I'm note sure what you mean by "close a message" since ther really isn't a control for that, but assume you are tapping the up adn down navigation buttons.
To see the email list, tap the mailbox button (upper left), or if you view mail in landscape mode, the mail box lists is automatically always visible.

I'll guess that you purchased Pages from the Mac App Store but when you run it it's asking for a serial number. This is because the trial version was installed on your Mac. You need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his box.com account in for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

Unread email folder doesn't exist on iPhone mail application?

Hi everyone,
I just recently switched over to an iPhone 4 after 6 years with a Blackberry. I have many apple products and was finally able to switch at work. Everything is great except that the way you have to find unread email is very cumbersome. On the BB, all unread mail appeared in the default mail view. On the iPhone, I have to go into the folder view to find emails that I have ruled into other folders on my Microsoft Exchange account which is very cumbersome.
Also, I hear a new email alert but the mail icon doesn't update the unread mail count unless that email comes to my inbox folder. Since I work in IT at my organization and receive many emails, I have them ruled on exchange to many different folders. I have all of those folders pushed to the iPhone but I have to manually look in each folder for the unread mail count next to the folder.
So I guess I'm saying that this is not efficient enough mail for me. Can you do setup an unread mail folder that shows all unread mail regardless of what folder it really is in on the iPhone mail program somehow? If not, can this be submitted as an enhancement as it makes email use very cumbersome. I have found tons of posts about this through google searches. I thought I would make a post to see if we are all missing something simple. If there is a simple setup that I can configure to fix this, please let me know!

Suddenly I don't have my own trash, but an IMAP trash folder. I have this new IMAP icon on the left of my mail folder. What's going on?

Following up: I went with Option 2 above, and it seems to have worked quite well. I didn't even need to quit iTunes. After the files were moved, the exclamation marks remained at first, until I played the file, or restarted iTunes - now all seems well, until the next crash anyway.

Holding CRL while you click enables multiple selection.
Holding shift after a first click allows block selection.
Ctrl+A selected everything from the selection point in the list to the end.

Is it happening in OWA also (I assume, YES)
After you tested the Test Mailbox, and if it's working without any issue then try these things.
Run Outlook and SafeMode and check the issue.
Disable the Mailbox and Enable it, Test the issue.
I also saw the same issue with one of my client (Exchange 2010) but it was happening with few users only. Tried several things, MFC MPAI, Deleting folder (Junk). These things didn't helped, had to disable the Mailbox and Assign new Mailbox and Import the
PST into it. They are still monitoring the issue.

1. You only need the configarchive if you don't want create all the KM configuration objects mentioned in the guide manually. So, just create the objects mentioned there and you don't need the configarchive

Mail icon not updating to reflect number of unread email in sub-folders

Hi all,
I have a problem with the default mail program on the iPhone, OS3.0.
If you have sub-folders on an exchange server and set for them to be pushed under the "Mail folders to push" setting, email appears on the phone and it even give you your chosen email alert sound. However the number of unread emails is not reflected on the icon of the mail program.
Is there a fix for this?

As neuroanatonist wrote, I think this is linked to Apple Mail (whether iPhone or desktop) focusing only on the inbox(es) for tallying up the number of unread mail, and notifying the user accordingly.
