Number of audio tracks possible? in logic

im trying to determine the number of possible audio tracks in logic....in my pulldown menue, there are only 24 possible...i imagine i can set this to a higher number?? any suggestions?
thanks

I think what you are looking for is in the Arrange window, Track->Create Multiple->Track Type: Audio. This should allow you to access the unlisted tracks from the Arrange view. Just add however many you need.

  • Number of audio tracks

    Hi everyone.
I'm using Core Audio Mac Os X with and apogee mini me. I've changed the number of audio tracks from 40 to 50 in my audio configuration window but when I try to create a new track after no. 40 by SHift Ctrl Return as normal: No New Track! SImilarly, in the scroll down list of possible tracks only forty are specified, not fifty as I have told the configuration panel I need. Does anyone have an idea how I can get more tracks, I need 'em right now!
    Thanks in advance.
    Ben.

Thanks a bunch, guys: That works!
If you've got a moment can you tell me one more thing...
Now I've got these new tracks, how can I make them come in between track 40 and Audio Instrument No.1 in my mixer...Right now, I've put them under tracks 1 - 10 ....
It's just a layout thing, but if you had a moment I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks again!

  • Turning off Midi Channel on an audio track-possible?

I do not want to receive any midi data (it is causing the track to mute) from my Moog Little Phatty on the corresponding audio track I am recording to in Logic. I do not want to filter this midi message out as I'd still like to be able to record that information on the corresponding midi track.
I know if I deselect the audio track it will no longer respond to midi messages being sent from the Moog. What I'd really like however is to stop Logic from muting a selected track whenever cc# 9 is transmitted.
    Is this possible?

And, just curious... if you're recording the MIDI info anyhow, why not just record the MIDI track, and then export it to an audio file?
I like to capture the live performance of my external synths on an audio track. I record the midi information more as a back up/reference in case I want to tweak it later.
And I totally understand that. I guess I suggested it, as work around in the meantime.
Recording the MIDI, and then bouncing as audio, won't undermine the integrity of that approach, as long as you refrain from over-twaeking, BEFORE bouncing down the file!

  • Maximum audio tracks possible?

    Hi all
Sorry this may have been answered somewhere before recently but couldn't find an entry in the discussion database.
Has anyone ANY idea how high we can fly with numbers of audio tracks on 8 core 3 gig with 10 gig of ram? (my spec below)
I expect it's down to hard drive speed (my audio drive is 7200rpm)but I'm about to mix a huge number of stems ..... all made up of 5.1 interleaved stems and I'm also using some Kontakt3 & PLAY sample stuff on another drive?
Anyone got any idea how many "ish" are comforably achievable?
I'm looking at using in excess of 12 x 5.1 interleaved on some passes (that's 70 audio tracks) ..... should that still be small fry?
Anyone got any guiding lights of experience?
    Many thanks
    Dick

ok, so i just tried again with a different type of cd-r, and the burn finished, but it still took about 20 minutes, which is significantly longer than it used to take. any ideas?

  • How do I control the number of audio tracks in an exported QT movie?

I am at a loss. I have 59.94 fps DVCProHD files that I want to trim and to export in the same format. The original clips have two tracks of audio, but the exported tracks have eight tracks of audio. I normally use an 8-track audio card, but nothing I do seems to prevent the 8-track export: I have selected "stereo downmix" in the audio mixer tool and set the audio playback device to "Built-in Audio," to no avail. I want the exported files to have the same two audio tracks as the original, not two plus an empty six. There seem to be no controls that allow me to specify this. Can anyone explain to me what is going on and how to change it?
    Thanks.

    Hello Robert,
It might be that your sequence is set to output 8 channels. try this...
Go to Sequence>Setting> and go to the 'Audio Outputs' tab. Here, change the 'Outputs' to 2.
You might also want to check the track-assign buttons on the timeline, ctrl+click on the auto assign square (just to the right of the little padlocks) and go to the Audio Outputs. Check that each track is assigned to 1&2.

  • Macbook Pro C2D HD 5400rpm. How many audio tracks?

I'm looking to move from my Ti 1Ghz G4 to a newer Macbook Pro C2D, and i've a question about using the internal HD on the MBP.
On my old TiBook, ive popped in a 100GB 7200rpm drive, and from this i've been able to acheive around 44 to 46 stereo tracks (playback only) before i get "disk too slow errors" (the drive had around 55GB used)
Does anyone know the max number of audio tracks that can be streamed off an internal 160GB 5400rpm in a MBP C2D?
Anyone able to run a quick test for me please?
    Powerbook Ti 1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1GB ram, 100GB 7200rpm HD

whoa he came down hard on you there...
ok i have a macbook, not pro, didn't need the little extra u get more for a lot more money if you buy pro, not worth it to me... i run my sessions on the internal 5400rpm. keep everything in the lappy, samples and all, have her juiced up 2g's of ram and let me tell ya i haven't had any speed issues at all. i have all of logics performance tweaks set to blazing (128, live playback only) and it's comparable to my G5 tower. These Intel chips are no joke. If you have room in your go bag for the external HD take it with you cuz it'll even run sweeter. i'm seriously thinking of getting rid of the old tower and getting another lappy, but no i'll prob just get another macbook, for a grand it ain't bad at all, throw in the apple care, max out the ram and presto you've got all your gonna need from a computer-any application

  • How do you "UNLINK" the audio tracks?

I have had LOGIC now for about 3 weeks. I am learning tons and enjoying the program overall. I have received some great help from this forum. My latest adventure is creating more audio tracks. I found out recently from this forum that I had the settings in my LOGIC setup. I increased the number of audio tracks that I can use. My current question is, If I need more audio tracks in a project, I click on an audio track and then go to the Track>Create Multiple Tracks menu. I can import as many as I need.
The problem I am having is, when I create the tracks, they are somehow "linked" to whatever track that I clicked on when I choose to create the new tracks. I have tried changing the track and midi channels in the LH side of the arrange window, but when I change one track, the other one changes also. I don't know how to separate them. Is there some way to do that? ALSO>>>> Is there a way to create new audio tracks without having to click on an existing track first?
    Thank you for your consideration.

The fastest way I know is to 1)- open the track mixer window, 2) click on the global button - to turn it on, 3) click on track button - to show all available tracks, 4) double click on an unused track, this will put a new track into the arrange window.
Turning off the global button in the mixer window and selecting the parts you want to display (Track, Instruments, MIDI, auxs, busses, etc) will show you the active tracks you have in the arrange window.

  • How to add more audio tracks to my environment ? i forgot !!

Hi. I dont see this in the Logic Ref guide.
In my previous autoload (made through the initial setup assistant) , i had selected 24 audio tracks. My current project requires more tracks , how can i add more tracks to the environment in this project.
I havent done this in so long , i forgot.
In the Environment , i choose AUDIO layer , then New Audio Object , i'm lost from here on.....
Please help. I'll try and find this in the manual aswell.
    Thanks a lot
    Faisal

    Hi
If you want to do it the easy way:
Go to the arrange page, go to the smaller menu labelled 'Track' and select 'create multiple' then choose what you want (mono, stereo or audio instrument). Voila.
This will add the extra tracks to your environment too. If it doesn't happen then check your audio preferences for max number of audio tracks and adjust accordingly.

  • Multiple audio track editing problem

Hello, Im editing a film right now and we have a tons of temp music score tracks along with the standard vocal track from the camera. I am running into major problems, because when I go to trim a clip a little, it says operation not allowed because a piece of audio temp music is below it. I have to lock the the audio (say its 7&8) to make the trim, but then all the music on that track doesnt get shifted down. How the **** I am supposed to edit with multiple tracks. Is it just not possible? Please say no.

Sequence settings, Source material specs, number of audio tracks, please.

  • Audio Tracks Mulitplying Like Rabbits...

Whenever I import a stereo track of audio, and then drag it to the audio tracks, it wants to insert that audio over the number of audio tracks available. So, if it's eight tracks, suddenly eight (rather) than two copies of this audio file are inserted. What's happening here?

Hi, thanks for replying. The source of the audio is an .aif file I imported—a :05 sound effect.
I have two audio tracks selected as destination tracks. There are eight tracks in total. When I drag the stereo file to the two destination tracks, all eight tracks get the stereo file. Now, if I try to do this again, the existing eight tracks will double to make sixteen! (That's how I ended up with eight in the first place, placing the stereo track a couple times...)
    What's goin' on?

  • Adding More Than 16 aUdio Tracks.

How do I add more than 16 Audio Tracks when my computer says there are no more audio tracks available?

" I set the max number of audio tracks to 35 and I am still notable to add more audio tracks."
Did you then re-launch the audio driver by deselecting it and then re-selecting it? It does not take effect until you do.

  • Languages on audio tracks

Hi, I am working on a project with 11 different languages.
I have named the audio tracks with the languages names, i.e. Track 1 is Englis, Track 2 is French
however, when i get to these three languages
    Bosnian
    Sylheti
    Mandarin
I can't find them in the list, and when i choose the -- option, on the remote control it shows at English 2, can anyone help me with this issue please?
    Thank you very much,
    Mariana

    Welcome to the forum.
Somewhere in the recesses of my feeble memory, it seems that there is a limit to the number of Audio Tracks. If I am wrong, then someone will quickly correct me on this. My guess would be that you have exceeded that limit. I'll poke around and see if I can confirm a limit and will post my findings, if Jbowden, Jeff, or others do not step in to correct this old guy.
    Good luck,

  • Audio Instrument track disablign audio tracks

While doing some band recording this weekend, I noticed a weird phenomenon.
I had about 8-10 audio tracks and one MIDI track using a Logic instrument. I armed all of them for recording. When I hit "Record", only the Logic instrument would record anything. The audio tracks would just remain blank as the SPL moved forward, recording nothing.
However, if I started recording with the Logic Instrument track unarmed, then then armed it after recording had begun, it would work; the audio tracks and the Logic instrument would record fine.
It may just be my Logic ineptitude. What was I doing wrong?

What does SHIFT-select do that normal select/arm does not?
The concept is similar to that of the OS. Shift-clicking allows you to select groups (of, say, files).
This is how you tell Logic that you want to record audio MIDI simultaneously. You can disengage MIDI record on the fly, or switch to another track (if you want to record another, pre-configured Audio Instrument or MIDI track from the same MIDI keyboard)...

  • Creating more than 16 Audio Tracks

I am working on a project that needs more than 16 Audio Tracks. Then I click on the track, then go to Audio Tracks, there is only 16 available, and they are all being used. I went into Preferences --> Audio --> Drivers, and boosted the Max. Number of Audio Tracks up, but there is still only 16, and my 16, I mean 16 different Channels. I know there has to be a way to do this. I have gotten more the 16 using Garage Band. Thanks in advance.

You need to learn to use the Environment.
In the Environment there is an audio objects page, and there it is where you have to manually create the new 17+ audio tracks you need.
Now, go crack open the manual, and go to the Environment chapter... it will enlighten you.
    Cheers
