Number of buttons for subtitles

Hiya everyone.
Does everyone else have to press THREE buttons to bring up the subtitles, and do it every time they change channels???

Well, yellow is vacant so in theory it could be done and I don't think it would be too tricky.  1st press = Subtitles, 2nd press = Audio Description, 3rd press = off.  Easy!  Given that even a £15 Freeview box has a subtitles button on the remote it makes sense.

  • Maximum number of buttons for a single screen? Max Number of videos?

I'm getting horribly slow performance (waiting for minutes at a time to do simple menu edits) and frequent crashes in Encore CS5.  It is nearly unusable.
I have about 45 individual short clips that I want to put on a DVD.  Each clip needs to play and then return to the main menu screens (i have 3 menus set up to break up the clips).
I have the basic structure set up (after a few dozen crashes and sluggish performance) but auto-routing on the buttons results in instant crashes and the final DVD burn doesn't follow the routing that I've set up manually.
This software is deeply deeply flawed.  What are it's official limitations because I seem to be exceeding boundaries in many places  (even though my project isn't particularly sophisticated)?

Adobe shouldn't enforce restrictions regarding number of buttons on a single screen!
A warning is Ok, but this decision should be left to the user!
Why? I burned the other day a fully functional Blu-ray disc (BDMV) with a SINGLE submenu page containing 52 text buttons (!) + RETURN button back to the Top Menu. I used Sony Media's DVD Architect (v.5.0.b) to do that. I played the disc on my Sony BDP-S550 without any problem whatsoever (as well as on my PC both the physical disc, and from the BDMV folder, using both PowerDVD and ArcSoft's software). I'm pretty confident it'll play in other players as well.
So, in my experience it's fully possible to have a lot more than 18 buttons on a blu-ray (sub)menu, in spite the formal DVD definitions.
I was rather disappointed to discover that Encore restrict that
(I wanted to use Enocre since DVD Architect needed to recompress the source, I don't want that.)
My Encore experience in this case summarized:
    - I can place all the 52 buttons on a submenu manually,
    - "Check project" is fine with that (no errors),
    - The links are Ok ("Show button routing")
=> In the "Preview", however, only the first 18 links navigate, the rest play "dead" (don't activate even if I move the mouse over those)!
Still, if I choose a specific Chapter beyond #18 (say #39) in the field below, it plays the requested Chapter!
    How about that.
This is an irritating and unnecessarily enforced restriction by Adobe.
    Let me decide, please!
    Cheers,
    Willy

  • Buttons for subtitles

    Hello fellow DVD-SP users,
As I'm not an experienced user, I have here the Apple Pro Training Series from Martin Sitter and Adrian Ramseier, and thanks to that book I've managed to create two language tracks (english and dutch) that actually work well.
Still I'm not satified, because as it is now, you need to push the language menu-button of the DVD-remote control to switch languages. What I actually like to have is just an extra link on my main menu (for instance "choose language") linked to another small menu with the two languages in it to choose from. After choosing the right language the dvd should jump back again to the main menu.
Has anyone an idea how I can achieve this?
    Best regards,

  • Having trouble creating an On/Off button for the subtitles on the main menu

    Hello!
I'm creating a DVD with one subtitle track that I'd like to be ON by default but I want users to have the ability to turn them off without the use of the remote. I was thinking of creating a Subtitle on/off button but can't seem to get this to work even though I've read several tutorials. Do I need to create a separate 'set-up' menu with a 'subtitles on' and 'subtitles off' button?
As of right now I have a single button on the main menu that says 'Subtitles On' which I was planning to be dark blue when active (on) and light blue when inactive (off). See what I'm talking about here: http://pfti.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Screen-shot-2013-07-12-at-1.26.47-PM.png

If I have two buttons, one for Subtitles on and one for Subtitles off, how do I make it so that the one that is chosen is highlighted?
You set it by changing the menu's property for the default button. This is one of the reasons a separate menu is generally used. If you have a single menu with 3 buttons ("play movie," "subtitle on," and "subtitle off"), and you set the default to "Active Subtitle Track," then your "play movie" button won't ever be the default.
To play with this and to decide how you want your disk to work, create a test EN project with 2 menus. Rename one of them "Main Menu" with 2 buttons "Play Movie" and "Subtitle Setup." Rename the second menu "Subtitle Setup" with 3 buttons, "Subtitle On," "Subtitle Off," and "Main Menu." As noted, the "Default Button" property for the menu "Subtitle Setup" will be "Active Subtitle Track." The button "Subtitle On," using specify link, will link to its own menu, default button, but will specify Subtitle 1. Same for the button "Subtitle Off," except that it will specify Subtitle Off. The Main Menu button simply links to the main menu.
Note that in Encore preview, do not use your computer mouse to hover over the buttons. It will trick you into thinking that you have or have not set the behavior correctly. Use the little remote function in the bottom of the preview window.

  • Linked Button for Batch number and Serial Number

    Hi,
Is there a way i can have a linked button for Batch numbers and serial numbers?
(These are 2 separate fields by the way).
If i use the object no 94 for serial numbers, it cannot find the record. The same issue occurs when i use batch number's object no 106.
Anyone has any idea how do i go about this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi shafi,
It wont work, but i did check it once and confirmed my doubt. instead of writing
    SAPbouiCOM.BoLinkedObject.lf_ItemBatchNumbers
i'm using the "106" object number. its the same thing.
Your using the linked button for the item code. I want the object to link to the batch number.
Your your linked button, when you run it against an item having 10 or so batch numbers it'll always take the 1st record. Not the record that u want it to link to on the form. (because we cannot define the Batch number with that object).
BTW, the code you've written for a matrix, you can assign all these things in the xml file or in the srf itself.
    Appreciate the response, thanks.

  • Maximum number of buttons (HELP)

i have a project where i need 24 buttons. i have a project with 24 subtitles and on the main menu, i want to put all the languages so a viewer can select their language and then watch their subtitled version. the maximum number of buttons allowed on a 16:9 project is 18. does anyone have any solutions??

    LOL!
I was a teacher once... and not been called smart since I threw away my suit to go to work in...
It's as Eric said - you are creating an illusion using two menus that are identical. Menu 1 has 18 buttons that work, but has a background image that appears to show 24 buttons. The 18th button is invisible and auto-activates to menu 2, where you land on a button that is labelled as button 18. This menu has a background image that has the graphics for buttons 1-17 but no actual buttons in those positions.
The trick is accomplished because as you move between buttons (using the remote) the last in the list (button 18) will jump to menu 2, where the real button 18 is actually the first on the new menu. Remember, the default button is usually the first you create (unless you specifically change this) so the user will see what looks like buttons 1-17 as a background image for menu2, and will appear to be on button 18, but will in fact be on button 1 of menu 2.
You'll need another invisible button on menu 2 that is positioned above the default button so that the user can move 'up' from what they believe to be button 18. When they do so, the invisible button will auto-activate and go to the first menu, landing on button 17.
There will be a pause as all this switching around takes place.
This illusion prevents you from needing to use navigational arrows on the menus and the user can be fooled into thinking there are more than 18 buttons on a 16x9 menu.
A different way to do what you want is to use a track as a menu, and use buttons over video. Works like a menu, but isn't restricted in the same way... but also doesn't provide some menu features, and you'll need to build it carefully.
BoV uses an image set into a track and an overlay file, but then you create buttons using the subtitle stream. In essence you create a track, add the graphic for the background. You make sure the start marker is set to be a button highlight marker and then add a subtitle. With the subtitle active you can add button rectangles just as if you were in a menu and if you add the overlay file you can add all kinds of highlight shapes. Navigation and colours work the same as for menus, but remember a subtitle can only really have four colours - you'll perhaps need to compromise somewhere along the way in terms of how this all looks.
It's an interesting challenge - I would like to hear how you get on with it.

  • How to create buttons for each slide in slideshow

I currently have a slideshow working with prev and next buttons,
but would like to add numbered buttons for each slide at bottom of images,
with a static number for the active slide that has a colored circle around that number.
I can create static number with colored circle in Photoshop and add that to a layer,
but it's labor intensive to do that for all numbers.
Is there a better way to create the highlighted numbers for active slide?
For numbered buttons that link to non-active slides, I can create numbers in Photoshop and import images into Flash,
then convert to symbols and assign actions for them,
But that too is labor intensive to do for all the numbers.
Is there a better way to create numbered buttons for non-active slides?
I'd also like to have a hover function on the numbered buttons,
that changes from plain image of number to number with colored circle like I want to use for active slide.
How do I assign a hover function to button symbol, that will load another image or symbol?

Try to think in terms of having reusable symbols.  Think it thru before you try it.
Use a movieclip symbol instead of a button.  Have a dynamic textfield in that movieclip for the number, and set the textfield to not be selectable.  Have one frame of this movieclip where it displays as the highlighted (selected) one and have the movieclip go there where you are on that slide.
Use the textfield for the number--assign it dynamically so that you don't have to import an image for it.  Use as many of these movieclips as you need to for all your buttons.
Have functions that reset all the buttons at once so that when you move to a new slide, the previously selected one goes back to mormal... follow that with setting the newly selected one to be in its "selected" frame.

  • ALV report shows fixed number of columns for a user ?

    Hello,
I have an issue wherein I have created an ABAP ALV grid display in a WD ABAP application and hosted it onto portal. Now, all the users can see the correct number of columns for the report which are determined dynamically. But just for one user, irrespective of which report she launches it shows her only 4 columns.
Can anybody suggest why this kind of behavior.
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Samta.

    Hi,
Right, click the button "manage layout" or "save layout" and remove any default user settings...
added: didn't read carefully sorry ;)... better check user settings in SU01 if no ALV parameter is used.

  • In making a form, I've used buttons for user to select a state. Can I make it go to cities next?

I don't know the correct terminology, so I don't think that I've posed my question very well.  Employees will be using the form that I'm trying to make, and I want for them to be able to select a city from a large number of cities, and for that city to ultimately show up on the form (not merely in the data that is output.)
I thought that the clearest way for them to select a city would be for them to start by selecting the pertinent state first.  That would allow the list of cities in that state to be shorter and more manageable.  So I'd like for them to be able to select a state, and then by virtue of that selection, have a list of cities pop up.  I sort of achieved that by using buttons for the states, and then under "actions", I chose "open a file".  Then I set it up to open a file that contained the cities that are options, and set each city with a button.
The result is that it goes from my form to a second window, containing states and then to a third window, containing cities.  (Actually, there are multiple "city" windows because there's a list of cities for each state.)  But then I'd like for the city that they select to wind up being on my original form.  Is there an "action" that I can choose that will make that happen?
Or is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish?  Maybe I'm just going about this all wrong(?) Any suggestions would be very much appreciated  Thank you!

Yes, there is a much better way. I'd recommend using a combo box for the list of states. When the user selects a state, the list of associated cities would populate a second combo box, allowing the user to select a city. This type of functionality relies on JavaScript. If you are unfamiliar with with JavaScript in Acrobat, I'd suggest starting with the following article: http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/2007/js_list_combo_livecycle/
Ignore anything to do with LiveCycle Designer. If you get stuck, post again.

  • Submit button for PDF

The submit button on my PDF form (Acobat X pro) no longer works. I created a submit button for a PDF form about two months ago and it worked then, but it is no longer working.  Applicants fill the form out and email it back to us as an email attachment.
Is there a limit to the amount of forms that can be sent to us?  I would appreciate suggestions.

You say it's Reader-enabled, but that you didn't do FIle > Save As ...
This is the process that causes it to be Reader-enabled, though putting it through the Distribute Form process does as well.
What Reader-enabling does is allow Reader to save a filled-in document. It otherwise cannot, though it can fill. print, and submit (form/comment data only). Reader 11 changes this though as it is able to save a non-enabled form, but not everyone will have Reader 11 so you shouldn't count on it being used.
If you distribute an enabled form that was enabled with Acrobat (as opposed to LiveCycle Reader Extensions), then you are limited by the Acrobat License Agreement from using data form no more than 500 instances of the form that has been returned to you, including hardcopies. Removing the submit button would make no difference.
A different approach though that will make everything more reliable is to set up the form to be used with Adobe's FormsCentral. Submitting by email is fraught with problems, but submitting to a web server as with FormsCentral eliminates all that. It allows essentially an unlimited number of submissions, though the data table will only show 5000 at a time. It makes it easy to get at the form data, which is more convenient than with Acrobat. It also allows you to generate a copy of the filled-in form for a particular submission if you ever want one. It provides the user some feedback when the form is successfully submitted, unlike email. When you distribute a PDF via FormsCentral, it Reader-enables the form and you can then distribute it via email, web site, or some other means. It's also very reasonably priced. It can be set up to send you and others an email notification whenever anyone submits a form. It can also send the user a notification that it was received, as long as they include their email address in a field on the form. No, I don't stand to benefit from you using FormsCentral, though I heard I might get a gift card for referring folks.
Seriously though, it really is a nice service that you should consider.

  • Button for audio

I'm using a tutorial from flashkit.com to make a simple
button for audio on/off. Here's is the tutorial
    Step One:
Create two buttons in your graphics program, one for
switching the music off and one for switching the music on.
    Step Two:
Put both buttons into one Movie Clip. Each button on a
seperate frame. So you will have a MC with the first frame with the
"MUSIC OFF" button and the 2nd frame of the MC will contain the
    "MUSIC ON" button.
    Step Three:
Open the actions for the first frame of the MC and put in
    this code:
    stop();
and for the other frame add (The frame with MUSIC ON):
    stop();
    stopAllSounds();
    Step Four:
Go to the first frame and open the actions for the button
    (MUSIC OFF button):
    on (release) {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
Then for the MUSIC ON button add the same code but replace
    the 2 with a one.
    Step Five:
Now import your music file into Flash (Go to FILE>>
IMPORT) then go to your first frame of the MC and add your sound
into it. Under LOOP NUMBER put a big number like 9999 so the music
will go on for a long time.
I made my "button" in photoshop, and import it into flash,
its showing as a bitmap (I've tried saving it as a jpg, gif, and
png) when I preview my button after importing the music and adding
the script to each layer it plays the music, but you cant click on
it to turn the music on/off. I get this Error in preview
    **Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=on, frame=1:Line 3: Mouse
events are permitted only for button instances

What am I doing wrong? And how do I make my image into a
    button? Thank for any help!

the button has to be actual flash BUTTON instance not just
    button image.
You need to convert each symbol into BUTTON.

Check this path: spro>MM>Consumption based planning>number ranges>define NR for planning run, execute and maintain the interval of planned orders.
Then apply this internval in OPPQ, under number range button.
