Number of Endeca Applications to create

In ATGEndecaIntegration guide, they have specified that
"For each ATG Server instance, you must have at least one unique Endeca application and corresponding MDEX. For example, if you are configuring a Content Administration server and a production server, you will need a minimum of two Endeca applications and two MDEX engines."
But I do same configuration of Endeca on both production and publishing server. After finishing deployment in BCC, it does indexing using same Endeca Application...I'm not able to understand the stuff.
Can any one will help me to get out of this. Please clear out the concept.
What if I'm using staging server....then I need to create separate Endeca Application for that??????
Thanks in advance

Hi. It sounds like the doc may be a bit misleading.
You're right that you don't need separate EAC applications, just separate instances of the application. You could map it to staging and production for instance. Or you could investigate mapping one to authoring if you are using 3.1.

  • How to create index for articles&products in ATG+Endeca application?

    Hi.
    I'm novice in Endeca.
    How to create ATG+Endeca application in which exists search by articles (created in Experience Manager) and by products (from BCC ATG).
    And how to index together products and articles?
    Where can I read about it?
    Thanks.

    Are you planning to create articles in ExpManager OR the content will come from some other system and you just want to manage the pages to display the content in Exp Manager?
    On a high level:
    If it is case #1 you have to integrate ATG & Endeca and write some cartridges for managing the content.
    If it is case #2 you have to integrate ATG & Endeca and modify the auto generated pipeline to pull in your content from the other system.
    Pankaj.

  • How to create and delete an Endeca application in Windows

    HI,
    can you please help me in ,
    how to create and delete an Endeca application inWindows machine not in Linux Machine.
    Thanks.....

    Hi,
    Steps to create an Endeca Application are clearly given in Getting Started Guide.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38680_01/Common.311/pdf/GettingStarted.pdf (Chapter 6 : Deploying a Reference Application)
    If you want to create an endeca application so as to integrate with Product Catalog system such as ATG using ATG 10.1.1 or above , then create an endeca application using the discover-data-catalog-integration reference application. Steps for doing this are documented in ProductCatalogDTGuide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38679_01/ToolsAndFrameworks.311/pdf/ProductCatalogDTGuide.pdf (Deploying the Product Catalog Application)
    To delete an Endeca Application that you have created in Windows/linux
    1. Navigate to the control directory of the application that you want to remove and execute the script
    runCommand.bat --remove-app (Removes the provisioning information with EAC admin console)
    2. Remove the instance configuration files for the application using the emgr_update command line utility
    emgr_update.bat host localhost:8006 app_name My_app action remove_all_settings prefix My_prefix
    3. You can then explicitly delete the directory in the Endeca_apps directory where you have initially created your application.
    If you are using discover-data-catalog-integration, you can remove the CAS Record Store Instances by navigating to CAS/bin directory and executing
    ./component-manager-cmd.sh delete-component -n {YOUR_APP_RECORD_STORE_NAME}
    Thanks,
    Shabari

     Discover_en_prules
     Discover_en_data

    Hi Bravo,
    Creation of CAS record store instances is done in C:\Endeca\ToolsAndFrameworks\3.1.0\reference\discover-data-pci\control\initialize_rs_feeds.bat which is invoked by initialize_services.bat file. This step is available when you create an Endeca Application using discover-data-pci which is mainly used for Product Catalog Integration using ATG. This step creates four empty record stores (data,dimvals,schema and precedecerules) in CAS.
    If you are using ATG 10.1.1 or above to integrate with Endeca Commerce 3.1.0 or above, there are components in ATG such as DataDocumentSumbitter etc which populate the data into these record stores and then invoke the EndecaScriptsService to trigger the scripts to perform Baseline Update. As part of the baseline update, Forge takes these CAS record stores as input and indexes the data.

  • How to run an application i created in java without using eclipse

    Im familiar with running an application i create thru command prompt or eclipse, how do i create a file to run on any computer with java so i can double click the file and my application runs. C# automatically does this, do i need to do an extra step to the jar file?

    Hi,
    You need to make an executable JAR file. There are a few ways you can do this but since you are using Eclipse you can follow this tutorial.
    [http://www.fsl.cs.sunysb.edu/~dquigley/cse219/index.php?it=eclipse&tt=jar&pf=y]
    The most important part is the manifest file, if you have dependencies on other JAR files they will need to be specified along with the
    main method to call to start you program. You can do this via the Eclipse Wizard.
    It will be in your interests to read this tutorial also

    Hi ...
    Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

    If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
    A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
    Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
    From the drop down menu click Restart.
    See if that makes a difference ...

  • Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?

    Is there any way to create an installer for Mac OS and Linux OS once a stand alone application is created?  I have created an executable application that I want to distribute to Mac and Linux users (different applications were created in the respective OS).  I was wondering if there is any way to create an installer?  I think there probably isn't...  If the user were to simply download the Labview Run-time Engine from ni.com would they be able to run the application or is it more complicated than that?
    Thanks so much for your time.

    I think Shane tried to say, that it is on the Mac OS X installation DVD, NOT the LabVIEW for Mac OS X installation medium. And that could very well have changed in recent Mac OS X versions as well. They used to have Xcode on it too, but that seems gone as well.

  • "Could not find the application that created this file" error when trying to combine files

    I am working with a user that is trying to combine a pdf & word doc (docx).  When they try to combine the files she gets the error:  "Could not find the application that created this file" & "Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer".  The computer is running windows XP, with office 2010 SP1, & Adobe Acrobat Pro X.
    Per previous suggestions, I have already checked to see if Adobe PDFMaker is enabled as a Word plugin, and it is.
    Recentley the user was running Acrobat 6, and this error did not occur.  It is only after upgrading to Acrobat X that this is happening.  Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

    This can also be caused if the files are in a folder deep in the file system. For example C:/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/yyyyyyyyyyyyyyy/zzzzzzz/aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa/bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb /cccccccccccccccccccc/dddddddddddddddd/eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee/ffffffff/ggggggg/hhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhh/myPDF.pdf
    At some point Adobe PDFMaker cannot handle the path length (also, Windows can't handle the path length either eventually)
    Solution: move the files to a shorther path (perhaps the desktop) and try from there.
    I am filing a bug report with Adobe. A descriptive exception message should be thrown instead of "could not file the app.."

  • Could not find application that created this file error in Acrobat

    What is going on? I have an InDesign file that I want to convert by opening Acrobat and then converting to PDF. I am getting the error "Could not find application that created this file. [file name] Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer."
    I most often use this functionality when I have multiple files of different origins and need to combine them into one document. Now I'm reading the forums and some are saying this functionality is no longer supported by Acrobat. Pardon my language, but WTF?!?! This is functionality that is commonly used by me and I can only assume other users. Now you have two Adobe products that won't communicate? If so, then all the hoopla stating how great the Adobe suite is should be edited. I have never seen these products take such a step backward!
    Sorry for the rant, but I find this to be ridiculous. What is the workaround, besides converting every document to PDF inside its own software and then combing the PDFs?

    InDesign uses a different method of making PDF files when you use the File->Export option in InDesign (even with Acrobat installed, it uses an internal copy of the PDF Library engine). As such, the two applications do not communicate directly with each other.
    Support for driving the PDF conversion process from within Acrobat has been removed from Acrobat X, beacuse with the new features in InDesign CS4+, Acrobat doesn't have access to the settings it needs to control things such as multimedia, spreads and transitions. ID CS5 divides PDFs into two concepts - "print" and "interactive", neither of which match the presets used by Distiller. Creating PDFs from InDesign files must therefore take place from within InDesign itself.

  • Trouble creating a pdf converting Word doc ..."Could not find the application that created the file"

    Hello,
    I am working with Acrobat Pro 8 and am trying to create a pdf by converting a word doc. When I try that, I keep getting an error message, " Could not find the application that created this file...please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer." I can always convert a word into pdf first and then insert it into the pdf project that I am working on, however I have multiple files and I really would like to bypass that long step.
    I found another thread in this forum which talks about a simillar issue (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/429585).I tried the solution suggested there by Bill@vt regarding the print menu. I am not really sure if t have distiller installed, so I tried opening it in acrobat, but it failed. During the process, I got the follwing message "Check the Status column for a list of files that could not be printed".I do not have any clue how to check for AcroTray running in the background.
    I would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    If Distiller failed to open, it sounds like you need to do a repair of your Acrobat installation. Have not heard that one before!

  • Call external service in a Application service created from ES

    Hi Experts
    I have the follow situation:
    I've modeled a new service in Enterprise Service Builder. This service i'll implement in caf application. In the method create by application i'll call one method of external service.
    I imported this modeled service in Create Web Service Provider option in external package, select the Enterprise Service Repository source option and choice the respective Service Interface.
    In this moment the caf created a new application service, with methods of modeled service. That's all right.
    Now i import a external service of esworkplace. All the step are ok. But the problem is going to next step.
    I need to call this imported service in the method of application service. I know 3 way to do this:
    1. Mapping the external service with this application service. In this case i have a problem - the method of external service is expose as web service, and i don't want this. Just the method of modeled service must be expose.
    2. Create another application service, map the external service with this application service, and create a depency between this application service and the application service created by modeled service. I think this work fine and resolve the problem of expose the method of external service. However i think this isn't a good way to do.
    3. Instantiate the service class of exernal service. From this class i can call the method of external service in application service. But now i have another problem. If i see the implementation of this class, it have a static block which call a URL class, and pass as parameter a wsdl file located in one directory of my computer like
    url = new java.net.URL("file:/D:/SAP7110Workspace.jdi/LocalDevelopment/CRVP/demo.sap.com//ejbmodule/
    _comp/tmp/0/EJB/src/META-INF/xml/ext/rootwsdl_WorkCentreSimpleByPlantQueryResponse_InService.wsdl");
    when execute the application in the server it don't find this file and i give one error.
    I think the best way to do is the 3° way. But why did the caf generate the URL with My computer directory instead of in directory of application? There are some solution to this problem?
    I've change this line manualy, but all the time when i generate the project, i need change this code again.
    Regards
    Marcos

    Hi,
    You may consume external service via JNDI
    Context context = new InitialContext();
    <JNDI OBJECT> local = (<CAST JNDI OBJECT>)context.lookup("<JNDI OBJECT>");
    //Call the method
    If you are using CE 7.11, go to NWA -> Problem Management -> JNDI browser  > ..... -> ObjectName for <JNDI OBJECT>

    Hi There,
    Does anyone know the root cause of it? We are facing the same issue.
    Please keep in mind, IT`s NOT PC FILE DATASOURCE. It`s standard 2LIS_02_ITM extractor.
    Thanks in advance.
