Number of Folders

Hi this is my configuration.

Is there any limit on the number of folders per user? I have to create 2,000 folders in a user INBOX and 7 sub-folders in each one, If there is not limit in the number of folders, this 14,000 folders can be used by Communication Express or Messenger Express
Thanks in advance Ram

If there is not limit in the number of folders, this 14,000 folders can be used by Communication Express or Messenger ExpressA large number of folders will result in an equally large amount of javascript for the web-browser/web-server to process when viewing the folder list. This may cause the web-browser to time-out making access via the web-interfaces unusable e.g. Firefox will produce a pop-up if it takes over a certain time-period to crunch through the javascript.

  • How to increase number of folders Apple Mail allows.

New folders in Apple Mail are appearing at end of list, rather than alphabetically.
Thanks for any suggestions to increase number of folders allowed.

    Deepak,
Check out the following link http://ysislmap.googlecode.com/svn-history/r3/note/siebel/MTServer.txt ..Will help you in configuring Max tasks.
I think you are using workflow policy programs to trigger emails using Email Manager component,if this is the case then it is not a recommended way to create another email manager component running in another siebel server, coz at same time both siebel servers will invoke the component to trigger mails ending you up in receiving two similar mails.

  • How Do I Change the Number of Folders Shown in Recent Places?

On my new iMac when I go to save a document in an application, like Acrobat, AOL, or Word, OS 10.5 will show me Recent Places, mostly the folders from which I've recently opened or in which I've recently saved other files. On my old G4 under 10.4.11 it used to show me the last 10 folders, but on 10.5.7 is shows only the last 5. Is there some control somewhere I can access the number of folders that the system shows me in Recent Places when I go to save? Thanks!

    AdmrlLocke,
Glad to hear that you found OnyX to be useful for that task.
I see that OnyX has many features. Do you use any of the others?
It is IMHO an easy to understand GUI of Terminal. Use it with caution. Make sure that you fully understand the implications of any actions.
I only use OnyX for helping others troubleshoot, and occasionally for setting Parameters.
I would advise against using OnyX routinely for Maintenance or Cleaning. My reasons for this advice are included in:
    1. Side effects of System cache cleaning
    2. Maintaining Mac OS X
    3. Running Mac OS X Maintenance Scripts
    4. Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption

  • Is it possible for a mac to run across a Windows based server such as in a school, and still be able to access all networked folders? I have been told that macs can only read down a certain number of folders

Is it possible to run a mac on a windows based server? We have a server based on Windows 7 in our school, and our techies are reluctant to let me buy a mac as they say macs can only read a number of folders deep, which would preclude me from accessing shared folders on our servers. Is this true, and is there a way round this? I would eventually like to get a suite of macs, but because all our resources are on the server, I have to be able to access them.
    Thanks for any help,
    Mike

I have found that both Linux and Mac (unix) are capable of reading "deep" folders while win 32 will have issues, your it people are clearly wrong.  I run a network with both win/mac. And as long as the win servers/pc's that have shares are set to allow apple file sharing in their folder properties.   And the macs are set to allow smb there should absolutely no trouble with you accessing anything across the platforms, heck, from a Mac to a win pc on some occasions you don't even need to include a "domain" name to log on to, and you can create aliases and make your own shortcuts etc... So you don't have to manually connect each time you boot up etc... But that's all personal preferences I suppose.
All I can tell you is that, I do it on a daily basis managing a small business. So your answer is yes you can.

I am wondering if WebAccess has a maximum number of folders in the cabinet that it will display. I have a user that has 1113 folders in his cabinet but WebAccess will only display the first 940 folders. Seems to me there is a limit in WebAccess but I don't know what it is. I am not aware of any formal limit, but could these be rearranged? I mean
1000+ folders at a single level isn't that usable anyway without more
    grouping.

Wait.... can the BIOS on your machine support greater than 3TB?
    Most cannot.
4TB drives, from what I've read, require an all new drive controller. As older drive controllers would max out at 3TB's.

  • Should we create large number of folders within a list?

For a custom list having 50K item it is more convenient for user to create folders to segregate custom list items logically. But if we consider performance, is it recommended to create large number folders of within a custom list?
What are pros and cons of creating folders within a custom list?

    Hi SunilKumar,
In a SharePoint list, the folder can also be seen as list item, considering to the large amount of list items existing in your list, the influence of these extra folders
to your site won’t be so apparently.
However, for a better item management, using extra columns for grouping items would be more recommended.

  • What's the maximum number of folders you can create?

    Hi folks
I've just got my first iPod - (Nano 5th G, 16 Gb)- so I'n new on the block!
I'm thinking of buying a bird calls DVD designed for MP3 players. One of the requirements is the ability to create 99 folders.
Can this be done on my iPod?
I can't find info on this anywhere!
    I'd appreciate someone's help.
    Regards
    Ian T

I'm thinking of buying a bird calls DVD designed for MP3 players. One of the requirements is the ability to create 99 folders.
Yes but depending on how the DVD works, it's likely won't work as intended on an iPod.
iPods use the iTunes database file to play songs.
Add the songs to iTunes then sync them to the iPod.
Adding folders to the iPod with files in them will not allow them to play on the iPod.
Most MP3 players simply use the folder structure on the player to play/display the songs.

  • Does Firefox Sync have a maximum number of folders limit for bookmarks, all are syncing to my other computer/mobile except for the last 5 folders

Have 2 computers, 1 mobile device
    1. Main computer: Personal laptop
    2. Secondary computer: Work
    3. Mobile Device: Android Phone
The Main Computer always has ~5 folders containing bookmarks which never appear on 2 or 3. An example of one of these folders would be 'cooking' which contains a few recipes i use.

How long have you being using Firefox Sync? Perhaps is taking some time to sync those specific folders. My suggestion is to keep the 2 computers on for an hour if you haven't being using Firefox Sync for a long time to make sure that you give enough time to the system.
If that doesn't work I will suggest to open a bug. Follow the instructions in this link:
    https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/
That will be helpful for you and for other users that may be hitting the same problem you have.

  • Limit on number of folders or files on an external drive?

I have an external disc (firewire, 1.5TB, IcyDock) that has 22,000 folders and 155,000 files on it (I'm an audio engineer and photographer). The folder structure is very shallow (only four deep for the most part). My problem is that only a subset of the folders show up and they are one layer down; I can't get to root. I can get at the other files through spotlight; I just can't get at them from the finder. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? I've run disc repair and it tells me that everything is wonderful. This is backup, I can reformat the disc if I need to, but I would like to end up with all my files instantly available.
    Thanks.

Considering that my startup volume has in excess of 100,000 folders and more than 600,000 files I don't think you are near any practical limit on this external drive. Perhaps you need to repair this drive in case the directory tree has become corrupted:
    Repairing a Hard Drive
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. After DU loads select the hard drive volume and click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Increase number of items in Menu Go Recent Folders?

I know that there are lots of ways to find a recently opened folder (e.g. Spotlight, DefaultFolder, etc.), but I was wondering whether there is a way (by tweaking the system preferences via Terminal?) so that I could increase the number of folders beyond the default 10 that are listed in the drop down menu (Finder > Menu > Go > Recent Folders)?
IAW... I'd like to simply be able to access more recently opened folders using the Go menu drop down.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Kappy... thanks for responding.
What you suggested does increase the "Recent ITEMS" listings but it does not change the menubar > Go > Recent Folders listings.
I go through so many files each day that it would be an incredibly long list even when looking for something in a few folders.
The advantage of the Go > Recent Folders is that if I was able to list 20-30 folders... it would just speed things up for me (with the way I work... not saying this would necessarily be the best way for everyone).
Sure Spotlight can find recent folders for me, but it just takes too many steps... especially with the columns' bug. Where it won't even allow you to select/expand columns until you first click on an opened window, or Command-N (to open another window), or click on the Desktop and then click on the column header in the Search window... before the Search window will allow you to work with the columns. Very time consuming when you are working with a huge number of lookups.
    Again... thanks.

  • How do I restore just Apple Mail (and all its folders & settings) with TM?

    Hi folks,
I was trying to set up an e-mail client on a PC, clicked and unclicked my gmail pop & imap on and off, and when I got home to my Apple MacBook, I had inadvertently reloaded (twice!) every e-mail that I've ever gotten in g-mail to Apple Mail which I use happily at home! No matter what I do, Apple Mail just won't delete the 29,000+ emails. And Mail is hanging, I suspect it just can't handle the massive numbers of e-mails and all the attachments, images, etc.
So I figure I must start from where I was at last Time Machine backup. I want to restore everything about Apple Mail as of my last backup -- all the same folders, saved mail, preferences, etc. How do I restore just Apple Mail but nothing else? Thanks!
    -- Josh

I've never done that, and don't think I've seen any similar posts here. You might want to look in the Mail and Address Book forum at: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1223
Take a look on your system at +<your home folder>/Library/Mail.+ (List view is probably best for this).
You'll see a number of folders for accounts and mailboxes. There are separate folders for each account, and within them for various mailboxes, plus folders for "on my Mac" mailboxes.
With Mail off, of course, I think you should be able to restore either the entire Mail folder, or selected sub-folders within it, via Finder > Time Machine.
After you do that, you may need to use the +Mail > Mailboxes > Rebuild+ option in Mail.
(Do not use the specialized Mail > Time Machine +Recover your <named> Mailbox+ option there, as it will leave the current contents alone, and restore the messages to a new "restored" mailbox.)
Let us know if this helps or hurts.

  • Boot Camp 3.0 recognises Mac HFS drives but does not list all folders

    Hi
I have just done a clean install of Boot Camp/Windows XP using the Boot Camp 3.0 drivers that come with Snow Leopard, and was pleased to find native support for Mac Drives (HFSJ). Whilst all of the Mac drives in my Mac Pro are recognised and can be opened and explored in Windows explorer, a number of folders in one of the drives didn't show up. I could access them by typing the exact path in windows explorer, but when using the mouse to open the drive a number of folders could not be found. Furthermore, windows applications, such as media libraries, would not pick up any files in the folders that couldn't be seen in explorer.
I went back to OSX to check that all of the folders were indeed present and they were. So in the end I reverted to using my Macdrive software again and all of the folders showed up again and worked as expected. So, it may be that the new bootcamp drivers are not all they are cracked up to be.
Anyone else experienced similar issues, or got any clues as to what I might need to get this working right?
    Thanks
    Nick

I am having that issue, but haven't worried about it since I've only booted to windows 2 times since the upgrade. Both times I've experienced a much more aggravating problem. Both times in order to reboot to OSX I have to use the install disc to repair the OSX drive because something renames it to "disk1s2" plus some counts are invalid. I use Macdrive, but since SL the mac volumes appear just as any other drive icon. Using Parallels or Fusion works as it always has, automatically shutting of Macdrive which leads me to think that Macdrive may be the culprit. Gonna try disabling it completely while running virtual and see if that makes it work. If not it'll just be another aspect of my Mac that Apple updates have made useless.
