Number of ipods to an account!!!

I know probably everyone but me knows this answer. I heard that you can only have 3 ipods to a computer. I wanted to know if this is true. I also want to know how to share music. My oldest son got the first ipod, then me and we want to take some of his songs and put them on mine. Does that work? Also we just got 2 more ipods for my other sons, can we share all of our music and movies with each other? Thanks for ANY info you might have!

I heard that you can only have 3 ipods to a computer. I wanted to know if this is true.
No. There's no limit except for rented movies, which can only exist on one device at a time.

If they're on the computer, yes.
Also we just got 2 more ipods for my other sons, can we share all of our music and movies with each other?
Yes, except as noted above.

  • Maximum Number of iPods per User Account?

I work in an educational environment and was investigating iPods and podcasts for teachers and students. Is there a maximum number of iPods that can connect to a single user account. i.e. One school account for 100+ iPods. Is there a maximum number of iPods that can be connected to a single library or user account in iTunes? Thanks.

I'm not sure why you would want to connect over 100 iPods to the one library. If you are expecting everyone to do this with their own iPod then you probably won't have that happening. They sync their iPods with their own libraries on their own computers. They would have to change the way they sync to do it manually in order to add items from another computer, which most won't want to do.
You mentioned podcasts. The way that usually works is that you post the podcast to a website. Everyone then downloads the podcast on their own computer using iTunes and then syncs on their own computer to their iPod.

  • HT1918 How do i change the phone number on my apple ID account so i can use messaging with my Ipod Touch 4th gen?

How do I change my phone number on my Apple ID account? Not the number for billing. I got a new Ipod touch and when I was setting it up my emails where correct but the phone number was wrong. The gentlemen at the Apple Store told me just to go on my account on my computer and change it but i cant find where. Only part i know how to change is the billing number. Thanks.

If you can remember them their current answers you can login here and change them : https://appleid.apple.com , click on 'Manage your Apple ID' and then 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of your account's page
If you can't remember their answers and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • SOMEONE USED MY SERIAL NUMBER TO REGISTER MY IPOD TO THEIR ACCOUNT.

Hello. I realized that you can register your ipod to your apple account with the serial number in the box. Because of this, I am able to track my lost iPod touch the moment it has wifi -its in lost mode (so yeah, I;m just waiting for it to go online before it alarms, displays my phone number, and locks)
NOW THE OTHER SITUATION: Right before I bought that iPod, someone at home lost my previous 2010 iPod touch. I still have the box(THE SERIAL NUMBER) AND the receipt so I thought maybe if I register the serial number, I can have it tracked on iCloud. I was able to "register" when I visited the page, "register your iPod" but it didn't show up in my Apple Support Profile thing... when I registered it from there, it showed that the thief already registered it in ther Apple I.D.
Now if I still have serial number/the box/and the proof of purchase, will apple be able to help me by tracking it or at least red flag/disable the thief's usage of the iPod??? I don't know. It's just that I think I see that the technology is there butI don't know if it can be used for people who's iPod's have been stolen and/or lost like me. And I think its unfair that people get to get away by legally being allowed to "take over" your iPod with their Apple I.D.'s even if you still have the serial number/box/and proof of purchase.

wow. so these thieves can just LEGALLY take over your iPod with their accounts. Using a serial number that YOU BOUGHT while you have the PROOF of purchase and the BOX still WITH YOU--even if serial number tracking technology is available--the device is still allowed to live for them, while apple provides them legal services. It should at least be disabled How tragic. Next time I own a THIRD iPod (which is not anytime soon), I'll have to chain it to my neck... oh the world

  • Maximum number of Ipods for 1 PC?

I have been told that there is a limited number of Ipods I can connect to my PC. Is this true? How can I solve it
    Thanks a lot!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
No, this isn't really true. You can have multiple iPods on one computer. You'll just need to manage them and transferring music to each iPod correctly.
    There are basically two methods:
Method 1 - Create different user accounts for each resgistered iPod on this computer.
Method 2 - Create a playlist in iTunes for each iPod. To make this work, go to "Preferences -> iPod" in iTunes, and set your option for "automatically update SELECTED songs". Select the playlist name in iTunes that you want to sync to each particular iPod.
One this to remember: even though iTunes can operate doing this, it's not a good idea to plug in two iPods simultanously into your computer. This can work perfectly fine in iTunes, but iPod drive confusion on your computer happens because of this kind of action. It's not a good idea to do this in general. (Apple says it themselves in this article)
For more details on this matter, check out Apple's Support article about it:

  • How to report Apple for my stolen iPod, when I don't remember serial number of iPod

How to report Apple for my stolen iPod, when I don't remember serial number of iPod.

Apple dose not want to know
    lost/stolen
    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • I have multiple ipods on my account...how do I find out which one purchased over $250 worth of games?

I have multiple ipods on my account (kids) and one or more of them purchased over $250 worth of games.  I need to know which child(ren) did this so they can pay accordingly.  The accout only tells what day they were purchased but doesn't say which ipod purchased.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Multiple iPods on one account

All I want is to see my iPod's song list when I plug in my iPod, instead of seeing my son's song list. But when I plug mine in it says an iPod can only link to one iTunes library at a time, and I have to erase it and reload (sync) this iPod with the existing (my son's) library. How in the eff do I do this?? And more importantly, how in the eff can Apple make it so effing complicated?? This should be on the home page in bold type. Help!

Plug in the iPod and select the iPod.
This will show the music on the iPod.
When I plug my iPod in, it automatically pulls up a different library (from one of the other iPods on my account).
Since the other iPod in not plugged in, iTunes will not display what is on that other iPod.
Is there no place on iTunes that shows each iPod on my account with the song list for each one?
No. The songs are on the iPod.
iTunes does not know what is on the iPod unless the iPod is plugged in.

  • Two iPods on Same Account--Need to Remove One!!

I added a second iPod to my account in December 2007. The new iPod is my son's. At first iTunes maintained separate purchases and libraries for our individual iPods, but now it will recognize all of our combined purchases, but only his library. I have purchased songs on my account that I do not want him to have access to so we need separate accounts, libraries, etc.
I have tried restoring both iPods and have even set up a completely separate account now for his iPod. The remaining problem, though, is that I can't get his iPod off of my original account so his library continues to "override" mine.
    Please help!!!!

iPods are not tied to specific accounts. Only iTunes libraries are. You can hook up any iPod to your account and sync your library onto it. You can then move the iPod to a different library and sync it to that library instead.
Sounds like your issue is with iTunes libraries and authorization. First off, are you trying to use the same iTunes library? Or do you both have different user accounts on the same computer? Or do you have two computers?

  • Drilldown report FGI0 Account Number and compounding Chart of Accounts

    Dear all,
I created a drilldown report in FGI0 for FAGLFLEXS (Reporting for Table FAGLFLEXT). I am showing the field Account Number. However the field display is [Chart of accounts][Account number] in the corresponding column, but I want to display only the Account number.
If I remove the compounding field RKTPL from table TKAFD, then the program cannot find the Account Number Text.
Is there a way to show only the Account Number, without the Chart of Accounts in its 4 first fields, and also show the account text?
    Thank you in advance!

  • How can I register an iPod to my account that is currently registered to another one?

I bought an iPod Classic, 1.3 version, from a friend and it is registered under another account. I can't get in touch with this person to get the account password so I can sync my iPod to my account. I want to re-register the iPod under my account. It doesn't matter if all the music is lost in the proccess. Does anyone know how I can do this?

You don't HAVE to register the iPod with your account, but here is the link to register the product with Apple under your info.
    https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa
Simply connect the iPod to your PC and restore it via iTunes.  This will associate the iPod with your iTunes library and content.

  • DD got new laptop(Windows 8). I would like for her to have her own iTunes account.  However she has been syncing her iPod to my account for 2years and has an abundance of music/movies that we don't want to buy again.  Any way to share them to her new PC?

My daughter got a new laptop for Christmas (windows 8).  I would like to set up her own iTunes account on her laptop.  Our dilema is she has been syncing her iPod to my account for 2 years now, therefore, she has an abundance of music (purchased through iTunes store) and movies (downloaded via digital download from DVD/BluRay purchases) that we don't want to have to purchase all over again.  Is there any way to share some/all of my account with her so she can sync her iPod to her laptop in the future?
I have been reading about Home Sharing but I am not sure this is the approach I am after.  Will home sharing work to allow her to alter and change the content on her PC without changing/altering it on mine?  Will it allow her to sync her iPod with her PC?
I suppose I should also add that we are currently running 2 iPod touches, 2 iPads and an iPhone from my apple ID.  I am not even sure if I would be able to add her PC as a device for home sharing if that is an option for us.
Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated.
