Number of menu scene markers?

I just got the premiere elements 9 and already (immediately)  got an error:
"The number of Menu Scene Markers to generate and the number of existing Menu Markers in the timeline put together can not exceed 25.
The number of markers shall be reset appropriately."
This error comes when I drag the menu template to the project.
Really? My current project has got 81 scenes (chapters?). Now I'm not able to create a button for each of them... Annoying...
Someone? Please advise.

Sounds like another bad feature change in PRE9.
Here is the same error message from PRE7:

  • When using scene markers (PRE9), is there a way to return the viewer back to the main menu?

I set up scene markers for a dance video I'm editing, and I would like after the viewer finishes watching the selected scene, they are returned back to the main menu without disrupting the play all function.  Using just the scene markers it is going correctly to the specific dance/scene, but continues playing the entire video from that point forward.  I am aware of the stop marker, but it looks like it's only function is to end the movie and that it shouldn't be used in the middle of a movie.  Is there a way to do this? Thank you

Many of us supplement this program with a program from Sony called DVD Architect Studio, a $39 download. If you do your editing in Premiere Elements and your disc authoring in DVD Architect, you can do nearly anything you can imagine.
You can see DVD Architect Studio demonstrated in my tutorials along the left side of this page.

  • Trouble with menus, scene markers and stop markers

I am using Adobe Premier Elements 7, and Vista home premium.
    During playback:
Scenes selected from a main or a sub menu play fine, and then the project plays into the next scenes, without ever going back to the menu again. This happens with main menu markers, as well as scene menu markers.
If I try to change a marker to a stop marker, the project does return to the main/sub menu, but all of the scenes past the stop marker, are no longer on the main/sub menu.
When I change the stop marker back to a scene or main menu marker, the main/sub menu scenes show up again, and I am back to paragraph 1 above.
How the heck do I get the scenes to return to a main/sub menu using stop markers, and still have the scenes beyond the stop marker on the menu?
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!

The answer is to use another DVD Authoring program. There are no sub menus available in Premiere Elements. This has been a long standing problem and most have went to Sony DVD Architect for their authoring software.
Check out Steve's tip on menu markers and see if there is something you might have missed. But I really think that you won't be able to do what you are trying to do, at least not in Premiere Elements.

  • Move all scene markers along with clips

My project is about half completed, and I realized I want to add another clip to its start, before the main soundtrack starts. I can easily select the soundtrack and all of the clips on the Video 1 track to move them all at once, but is there any way to move the scene markers at this same time? I've already spent the time to put in a bunch of markers at key points in the soundtrack, and I don't want to have to completely redo this when I move the soundtrack.

In PE, I do not believe that there is. Hope that someone will prove me wrong.
In PrPro, there are several types of Markers. The true Scene Markers are referenced to a frame in a Clip. These move with that Clip. Other Markers are all referenced to a time on the Track, so they do not move with any Clip. I believe that this will be the case of the Markers available in PE. If I'm still in the editing phase, I will only use the Scene Markers (PrPro), so that they DO move with their respective Clip's reference frame. It's not until I'm done and the client has given approval, that I will add other types of Markers.
Good luck, and I hope that I am wrong about PE's Markers.

  • Premiere Elements 11 - Can't read my menu/scenes under preview

When I preview the menu the menu and scenes show up for about 5 seconds and then they become unreadable.  They are blurry.  When I burn DVD you can see the writing for the menu/scenes but can't tell what it says.

    Jodie
    Thanks for the follow up.
No. Did they charge you $40 for that "corrupt menu" diagnosis?
What did you purchase,  the boxed packaging with installation disc or downloaded installation files from Adobe?
In the past, blurry DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc (the menus and the video) was periodically corrected by an uninstall reinstall of the program. But, I had never run into a situation where menus were signaled out leaving the video portion OK in those particular cases.
Be that as it may, let us get to work on the audio situation. What is the duration of the audio file that you are adding to the menu? And which menu..also main and scene or audio just to main? Is this happening with all audio or just this file?
This is where I am heading on this to rule in or out. No matter how great the duration of the audio that you add to those menus, you are only going to get 30 seconds looping. Recently a user questioned why only 13.4 sec instead of 30 for the Christmas menu. That was explained in my blog post
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/
The point to my mention of 30 sec looping max, is the possibility that the addition of audio with a long duration may be creating the issue.
Another factor is format. Are you working with, .mp3 or .wav for the audio addition to the menu?
Bottom lines for troubleshooting purposes at this time
    a. try to use an audio with shorter duration...closer to 30 seconds
    b. if you are using .mp3 audio, convert it to .wav in iTunes or other.
    More later.
Looking forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Elements 8: Scene Markers Not Frame Accurate on Burned DVDs

I have Premiere Elements 8, and I have just begun to burn DVDs of projects. I have discovered that the Scene Markers I have carefully placed at precise points in my footage (such as the very first frame of a scene) are not placed at those specific points in a burned DVD of the footage. They are out by several frames either early or late, the deviation being fairly inconsistent.
I placed 8 Scene Markers in the timeline of the project I have just completed, and were transferred to DVD with these Scene Markers at the following points on the resulting disc:
Scene Marker 1 was 7 frames early
Scene Marker 2 was 3 frames late
Scene Marker 3 was 2 frames late
Scene Marker 4 was 5 frames late
Scene Marker 5 was 5 frames late
Scene Marker 6 was 5 frames late
Scene Marker 7 was 7 frames late
Scene Marker 8 was 2 frames early
I was not expecting any deviation at all. There is no frame deviation when editing footage and transferring to DVD, it is absolutley frame-accurate, so why is there any deviation on the resulting DVD when it comes to the placement of Scene Markers?

If I am using GOP material, knowing that that material's I-Frames might not be 100% accurate with my desires, is to always have a Dip-to-Black Transition to about 02 sec. of Black Video, between all of my Clips. Then, I can locate my Chapter Markers on that Black Video. This also gets me that Dip-to-Black (and back from black), between Chapters. I like the aesthetics of those, and the solve any GOP issue.
Those Dip-to-Black also cover any "black flashes," that one often sees, when the DVD player's head seeks the next Chapter. The black flash will come when the screen is already black, so no one will ever see them.
I use a Dip-to-Black in editing, to show the passage of time, and perhaps the change in location (or both), and as Chapters usually feature one of those, the Dip-to-Black is ideal. Within a Chapter, if I use a Dip-to-Black (passage of time, or change in location), and the passage of time is quite long, then I will increase the Duration of the Black Video between the Clips even more. Just one way that I employ Transitions, and especially Dip-to-Black.
    Good luck,

  • Video scene markers not detected by DVD or computer

I have burnt an autoplay DVD with elements 2 which combines video and still images.
I put scene markers at each video cut and on each still image but when burnt neither DVD or computer detects them and I so I cannot flick between scenes. What might be causing this? Thanks

I have not had time to hunt down the old FAQs related to this topic that CE mentioned in his posts.
I have Premiere Elements 2, 4, and 7. I can confirm that if
    a. I put scene markers on the Timeline
    b. Go the Create Menus section of the program and opt for No Menus
    c. Then, in the DVD Preview (before the burn), I find options in the simulated Remote for Previous Scene (shortcut P) and Next Scene (shortcut N) which recognize the appropriate scene...works fine there.
However, when I take the end product DVD-VIDEO to my TV/DVD Player, I end up with an AutoPlay with no option to pick (skip to) specific scenes once I hit Play. I cannot find a Previous Scene/Next Scene on my Remote that will function to do just that. If I select Search (slow or fast), that is exactly what it does, but it gives me very poor control.
Although CE says this AutoPlay with scene selection opportunities is popular, what percentage of users has used it for that purpose successfully. Is my experiences related just to my Remote and my use of it?

  • Export question: menus/scene markers to disc?

    Premier Elements 13
    Windows 7 Professional
Export to Disc (DVD) works fine.
Export to Computer (MPEG): works fine.
What I'd like to do is export the DVD-style format (ideally with movie menus, but more importantly with click-to-next-scene-marker navigation) - to disc.
When I save to MPEG, there is no way to navigate to the scene markers.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    RT
I do not know of a program that will add menus to a Timeline that you export to file saved to the computer hard drive.
I have done some online google searching to see what is out there. But, so far I have found
    a. programs that will allow you to add navigation tools to a web site
    or
    b. program that will allow you to add menus to a large text file
    On the webDVD side, http://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/web-dvd-premiere-pro-encore/
Back in a November 2014, Adobe PRE_help posted in a thread here on the removal of webDVD from 13,
Web DVD or similar in Elements 13
You can try Publish/Share -> Disc -> DVD -> Burn to Folder option and say you save this folder on your desktop. Open the *.ifo file inside VIDEO_TS folder in VLC,Media player and you should be able to see the files and the menus.

  • How can I set 'menu' to return to 2nd menu scene selections?

I have a two page menu. 1. Title page. 2. Scene Selections page. Once we are on the 2nd page, I want the viewer to be able to return to this page when returning from viewing a selection. There is a button on Page 2 to get them back to the main menu if they like.
Is there a way I can set the 1st menu page so that the viewer will return to it by pushing menu.
And likewise, set the 2nd menu page so that the viewer will return to IT by pushing menu.
So each page has a different 'menu' return setting?
    All ears, Ben

You might be able to do this without scripting anything, Ben - the scripts are reasonably simple, but I know you won't want to get into those just yet!
One option is to use stories, and there are different ways to achieve what you want to do. For the sake of example, let's assume you have got ten scenes and at the end of each you want to get back to menu 2...
Create ten stories and add a single chapter into each from your ten available. Set the buttons on menu 2 to point to the corresponding story and then for the story, set the menu call so that you go to Menu 2 and land on the appropriate button. You should set the end jump for each story to also point back to menu 2.
Now, from Menu1 content, point to the track itself and set the menu call for the track to go back to menu 1.
When the viewer accesses the footage from Menu 1 and then uses the Menu button they will go back to menu 1. If they navigate to Menu 2 and access a single scene, that scene will play and go back to Menu 2 when done. If they press menu during the scene, they will also get back to menu 2.
    Job done.
Now, if you want to do this in a better way, you only need to create a single story and drop ALL of your chapter markers into it. This will become the main feature where everything plays. Set the end jump and menu calls to go to Menu1. On Menu 1, set the buttons to target the content insode the story container.
To get a single scene to play you add end jumps to the chapter markers in the track (click on the marker, look in the property inspector or in the 'Connections' tab). Set the end jumps to Menu2 and the Menu command to Menu 2 as well. From menu 2 you point your buttons to the specific marker.
This also gets the job done, and neither method needed a script

  • Premiere Elements 9 - unable to select a "poster frame" for DVD Menu - Scene Selection

I've tried a number of different DVD menu themes and the problem is the same for all.  The Scene Selections don't seem to provide any way to include a graphic for the poster frame.  Have been able to provide a menu background with no problem.  Interestingly, the poster frame section of the menu edit fields appears to be somewhat truncated (the spot where you would expect the "drag media here" shows only the bottom portion of a box with no wording and the input is truncated at 00;00;0 with the fifth zero partially cut off.
Any one else seen this?  I know I've provided graphics for the scene buttons in the past but cannot seem to get past this situation this time.
    Thanks

In Adobe Encore (the authoring program, included with PrPro), one can set the Poster Frame for non-Motion Thumbnails.
For showing a different Clip, in Motion Thumbnails, one must create Menus, that have a Video background, that just looks like it has Motion Thumbnails - they are actually PiP in the Video background.
I do not know about the often touted Sony DVD Architect, regarding setting Poster Frames.
PrE's authoring control is a bit limited, and is designed to get the "average" Project authored, with few navigational bells and whistles.
    Good luck,

  • How do I display the Spaces number in menu?

When using Snow Leopard, I was able to get the space number to display in the menu.

The concept of spaces has changed significantly in Lion. Unfortunately, I don't think you can get that functionality back.

  • Chapter Scene Markers Missing

I am having trouble importing chapter scenes from Premiere Pro 2. In PP2 I exported timeline as avi and chose the option to export chapters in the compile settings. When opening in Encore 2 the chapters are not there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for helping a newbie.
    Darren

You need to make sure there is text in the Chapter field of the markers in PPro.
Please note that this is the lounge. And the lounge is for general discussions that are not necessarily on-topic or about Encore.
Problems with exporting from Premiere and importing into Encore should go either into the Premiere Pro 2.0 forum or the main Encore forum.

  • TS4522 I did not put any BG image. Impossible to get a menu from markers list

    Trying to print a DVD

I am not exactly sure I understand your question, but you need to make these markers to be "Chapter markers".
If they are just regular markers they won't appear in the dvd.
If you double-click on a marker you get a little popup window where you can change its name and the type of marker. At the top there are three buttons. You want to select the one on the right.

  • Menu Creations in Premiere Elements 7

Why can't I add a menu template? I followed the steps correctly and I still can't add a menu, what's wrong?

    Andy Herrman
Just a few thoughts before you decide to contact Adobe T/SAt this point, I also cannot judge if you have a serious problem with Premiere Elements 7 or if you are misunderstanding how to apply a DVD Menu to your project.
Does Import Media = you have used Get Media to bring media into the Project View/Media and have dragged it from there to the Timeline, applied some scene markers there, then hit Disc Menus OR have you just left the media in Project View/Media, nothing to the Timeline, and then hit Disc Menus? However, whether or not any thing is on the Timeline, you should still be getting a DVD Menu in the Disc Menus Monitor after you select a Menu and hit Apply.
    Clicked on Disc Menu
    Chose a MenuHit Apply
I was going to ask if you highlighted (blue rectangle) the Menu of choice, but, since you said that you clicked on Apply, I am further assuming that you did highlight the choice and therefore had an active (not grayed out) Apply Button.
After you hit Apply, did you get any message or dialogs, like:
    Missing Menu Marker Dialog
    Automatically Set Menu Scene Markers
At this point, in the bin below the Disc Menus Monitor, you should see a Main Menu and a Scene Menu. Which ever one of those is selected in the bin will be the one that is showing in the Monitor. So, when you say No menu would appear, are you saying that there were no menu images in the Monitor and/or the bin?
By any chance, are you looking for the DVD Menu to appear on the Timeline? You are never going to see the Main Menu or the Scene Menu on the Timeline of the program. You can edit the menu in the Disc Menus Monitor and check its button workings in the Monitor by pressing Preview.
Again, please excuse if I have asked inappropriate questions, but I was not sure what was happening or not happening in your situation.

  • DVD menu without a scene selection option?

    Hi all,
I'm new to Premiere Elements 12, and I just finished a video. I want to add a menu with my own photograph that has an option to play movie, but no option for scene selection. When I use Premiere's templates, I can't get rid of scene selection (it's not necessary for this video because it's so short). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    emmaarmer
Do not use scene markers on the Timeline content and you should not get any Scene Selection button on the main menu and you should not have any scene selection pages.
You will just end up with a main menu page with a Play button.
If you situation is different for some reason, please give more details including the specific Premiere Elements 12 Movie Menu that you are selecting.
    Thanks.
