Number of photo discrepancy

In my "photos" tab, it says I have 10,000 photos at the top right.  But when I look down at the number of photos next to each event the number is far less, like 5,000.  When I click on an event, it show that there are far more photos in there than it says from the photos tab.  What does this mean?  And how do I get the numbers of photos to accurately correspond?  Thanks in advance, Nels

And
What version of iPhoto?
No - rebuilding destroys nothing - unless something goes wrong which is why the first step is to backup your iPhoto library so you have a way to recover form any rare problems

Does this involve iPhoto in some way?

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

How can I insert a number of photos into a numbers doc without the file becoming too large?

    Use smaller photos.
Seriously, reduce the file size of the photos in Preview, PhotoShop, iPhoto or other application before inserting tehem into the Numbers document.

  • Why is it no longer possible, since the iPhotos upgrade to 9, to select a number of photos and "hold on to them" when changing to a different left-margin "view"?

There has been a downgrade since iPhotos was… upgraded.
Before iPhotos was upgraded to 9, It USED to be that
IF you chose a photo or a number of photos WITHIN an event
(ensuring that they were engulfed in yellow or blue),
and THEN went to the left margin and clicked on Photos
in order to view the ENTIRE library's photos
(not just those in that particular event),
the selfsame photos would REMAIN chosen in the LARGER context.
That is no longer the case.
And that was very useful, because
if you wanted to move a batch of photos within one event
to within another event, that was the easiest way to do so
    — whereas now, we have to search for and "find" them all over again.
When I go "back" to Photos, I not only lose the selected images,
say from March 2009, I end up at a totally different place,
say in October 2006, and I have to do lots more "work" finding
the photos again then used to be the case.

    Flag the Photos.
    Switch to Events View
    Select the Target Event
Events menu -> Add Flagged Photos to Selected Event

  • TS1702 how can I remove large number of photos on my iPhone 4s from iTunes using a PC - Lenovo Think Pad - so that I can reduce the space used on the phone by 50%?

how can I remove large number of photos on my iPhone 4s from iTunes using a PC - Lenovo Think Pad - so that I can reduce the space used on the phone by 50%?

You don't need iTunes for that. Simply connect the iPhone to the PC where it will be recognized as a camera. You can then select the photos you wish to transfer, transfer them, and delete them.

  • Lightroom or Photoshop Elements for administrating huge number of photos?

    Dear photo experts,
at home, we have a huge number of photos we took over years. We are looking for a software able to organize all of them. We currently have:
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 (Mac)
    Adobe Lightroom 3 (Mac)
However, for organizing photos we so far use none of them but a third software (here, we are not happy about how it handles our huge catalog of photos).
Our photos are stored on a server (network attached storage), organized by date and event.
I read that Adobe Photoshop Elements cannot organize photos stored on a network drive.
    Now my questions:
    - Can Adobe Lightroom organize photos stored on a network drive?
    - Is Adobe Lightroom capable to organize a huge amount of photos in one single catalog (separating them via tags)?
    What are your experiences?
    Thanks a lot!
    JMickey

I read that Adobe Photoshop Elements cannot organize photos stored on a network drive.
I thought the opposite was true
Can Adobe Lightroom organize photos stored on a network drive?
As we say here in Rochester, NY, YES it can
Is Adobe Lightroom capable to organize a huge amount of photos in one single catalog (separating them via tags)?
Yes, this is one of Lightroom's strengths
    What are your experiences?
I use Lightroom for all of my photo management (yes, I said ALL). I never use the operating system for photo management. Lightroom works great. People here in this forum who have much larger catalogs than I do (over 1/4 million photos) also use Lightroom to manage their photos.

  • Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos??

Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos?

This is book # 13 and I've not encountered this problem before. I am dragging photos into the sourse pane but they are not imported. I have other books w/ over 700  pics (not all used) but this has only 300+ so far. I've copied the book to a pdf and it looks as if I'll have to redo it unless there's another solution.

  • I have imported my I photo library into Aperture.  all the old i photo events are now in the aperture library showing number of photos but when clicked none display.  I can see the photos if i run the cursor over the project.  Help please.

I imported my i photo library into aperture.
I can see the i photo events in aperture library as events with the number of photos in each event.
When you click events in the aperture library no photos appear although if you roll the cursor over the event icon it show the photos.  If you click on the event either on the event icon or in the library no photos appear.
    Help

Check, if you have any filters set. The search fields in the Insector panel and the browser should be showing "All items" or "Showing All".
The Browser search field could be set for each project and album individually, so you have to check it for each project.
    Regards
    Léonie
For example: The projects count shows "20 items", but the browser is empty, because the project's filter is set to show only rejected items.

  • Camera Roll showing incorrect number of photos

The Camera Roll doesn't seem to be functioning correctly.
When I import photos into iPhoto, i select the option to delete them from the phone.
The photos disappear, but the number of photos apparently in the Camera Roll isn't reset to zero.
    Anybody else have this problem?

Can you please post the process steps you're using to move or change your synced photos...
Typically, I would connect my iPhone to my mac, I would manually sync (automatic sync is disabled), I would then remember that I have taken photos, run iPhoto '09 and import the pictures, selecting to delete them when the import process is complete.
I have smart folders in iPhoto that include all iPhone pictures, so I would sync again to the the photos back on my phone.
Also...when you tell iPhoto to delete and then the camera roll still shows a number...are there pictures there or does it have no pics but still has a number???
After iPhoto has deleted the photos, the camera roll has the same number and the Camera Roll folder is empty.

  • Why is the number of photos in the Photos app different than the number of photos in iPhoto on the Mac?

I have an iPhone 4S and a MacBook Air. On the MacBook Air, in iPhoto, the number of photos is 3,563 (this is the number that appears next to the word Photos under library in the left hand pane). When I synch my phone with iTunes, I've selected Synch Photos from iPhoto and the number that follows that line is 3,546 photos. I have checked All Photos, albums, Events, and Faces.
On my iPhone under Settings, General, About, there are 4,293 Photos shown (the Camera Roll is empty).
I don't understand why these three numbers are not identical. Anyone know?

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? What mode are you in, i.e. Events, Photos?
If it's the Photos mode the number at the bottom will represent the number of photos displayed in that mode or the number of photos selected in that mode. The number will match the number next to the photos mode only when there are no photos in that mode that are selected.
If you click on the Events icon and then back on the photos icon the numbers should match.

  • Keywords PS CC - Number of photos applied to missing and can't search using keywords

Last night in attempting to coordinate/consolidate the keywords assigned to 40k+ photos by over 4 programs the past 2 years I made an error.
I had MANY photos with keywords Other/Statuary and I wanted to remove the Other part of the hierarchy and just have Statuary under Assigned Keywords.
What I did was create a new keyword for Statuary so I had both the Other/Statuary and just the Statuary under Assigned Keywords.
Then I clicked on Other/Statuary to display all in the Contents panel, Selected All, then applied the new Keyword Statuary and unchecked the Other/Statuary keyword.
What happened is the keyword counted down from 200+ to ZERO and all photos in the Content panel disappeared. Then when the keyword Statuary was unchecked under Assigned Keywords -- it disappeared.
Being late, tired and irritated I continued on thinking I had made an error and I would correct those keywords later.
BAD MISTAKE. I made thing much worse by doing the same thing to several keywords.
So, thinking I would be a "bright fellow" this morning, I deleted the Adobe Bridge Cache to let it rebuild it and copied back ALL my photos from a backup made yesterday when all was well in my world.
Now I have all the keywords listed and they show up in my Contents Panel per photo BUT there is no number to the right of the keyword denoting the number of photos it is applied to and I can't search by a particular keyword.
I had exported my keywords yesterday also and this morning I Cleared and Reimported those keywords.
All looks great and works great but no number of photos per keyword and can't search.
Oh God, please someone help me ????

I reset my custom workspace and all seems to be well now. My keywords now show, the number of photos each applies to and I can again search.
    Thank you.

  • The number of photos in an event does not match between iPhoto and iTunes

    Hi,
Not sure what's up but the number of photos in one of my events in iPhoto is 19 but on iTunes it shows (and syncs) as only 9.
    Any ideas?
    Jennifer

Not that I've heard -- but it looks like 250,000 for iPhoto -- a bunch
    Apple - iLife - iPhoto
iPhoto makes sharing photos faster and simpler than ever before. It also adds great features, including Photocasting, support for up to 250,000 photos, easy publishing to the web, special effects, and new custom cards and calendars.

  • Number of photos on web gallery, error

    Hi:
    I have a question about my web gallery ( http://gallery.mac.com/carjrol2 )
The counter that indicates the number of photos i have into my gallery is wrong it puts that I have more photos than really I have
example in my logos gallery it puts that i have 42 photos and i only have 14 photos.....
How could i resolve this problem???

Are you using the latest update - 7.1?
When I went to 7.1 this happened to me. after a day I forced one gallery to sync and next time I looked everything was correct again
Verify that the web gallery album in iPhoto has the correct number of photos and force a sync 9click on the little brodcast icon ot the right of the gallery name and hopefully that will corrct the count in your online gallery

  • Number of photos in My Photo Stream differ on 3 devices, what to do?

I am under the impression that the number of photos that can be seen in My Photo Stream should be the same, no matter which device I use, as long as I am logged in these devices with the same Apple ID.  Is this assumption wrong?
My wife and I use the same Apple ID, she on a MacBook Pro, I an an iMac and on an iPhone4S. On her laptop there appear close to a 1000 photos (what I would have expected from the Photostream description), but on either the iMac or the Phone I only get some 158 photos.
What do I do wrong, what needs to change to make them synchronized?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hiya,
I have a slightly more complicated question similar to this one and you seem to be the guru to ask judging from the other posts so here goes:
We have 2 iPhone 4S's (his & hers) an iPad and a (new) iMac in our household. All devices are using the same Apple ID. As far as I am aware (pretty new to apple and V new to mac) the photostream settings are the same on all devices. Here's the problem: photostream has a different number of photos on the devices:
    his iPhone: 1000
    hers: 345
    iPad: 958
    iMac: 309
so far, pretty similar to the other issues but here is where it gets even trickier:
When i updated my iPhone (hers) with ios7, it fell over and died. When I rebooted it, all of my photos and videos were gone. So the only place that those photos exist (not videos sadly) is in the elusive photostream. I am terrified to turn photostream off and back on again on any of the devices for fear of losing those photos.
    Help??
