Number of Photos Limit in iPhoto '09

In iPhoto '06, there was a limit of 99 photos per slideshow. Is there a maximum number photos limit in the '09 version? Thanks,

There is no formal limit, but issues like the amount of RAM and disk space you have can come into play.

I have a large number of photos imported into iPhoto with the dates wrong.  How can I adjust multiple photos (with varying dates) to the same, correct, date?

If I understand you correctly, when you enter a date in the Adjust Date and Time window, the picture does not update with the date you enter.  If that is the case then something is wrong with iPhoto or your perhaps your library.
How large a date change are you putting in?  iPhoto currently has an issue with date changes beyond about 60 years at a time.  If the difference between the current date on the image and the date you are entering is beyond that range that may explain why this is not working.
If that is not the case:
Remove the following to the trash and restart the computer and try again:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.iphoto
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iPhoto (There may be more than one. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: to get to the "home > library" hold down option on the keyboard and click on "Go" > "Library" while in the Finder.
    Let me know the results.

  • What is the maximum number of photos in a iphoto book?

What is the maximum number of photos in an iphoto book?

Depends on the theme and the page layouts you - choose - a book has a maximum of 100 pages and as far as I have seen the most photos on a page is 16 - so 1600 would be the Max if you used 100 pages of 16 photos each
for an overview of page layouts for iPhoto '09 (all are still valid in iPhoto '11 - with some more added) see Liz Castro's web site - http://www.iphotobookthemes.com/pmwiki.php?n=Main.HomePage

  • Iphoto and Itunes not showing the same number of photos in albums

why does the number of photos in an iphoto album is not the same when synching my iphone.  For example, in iphoto, my "family" album has 2700 photos, but in Itunes it only shows 2675.  I have included the videos also.  Thanks

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • Edit in External Editor only accepts a limited number of photos

I occasionally want to edit a number of photos from my iPhoto library in an external editor (Photoshop). I have properly configured (as far as I know) the "Edit in external editor" setting, and it works correctly when I select a single photo. When I batch select multiple photos, the results vary: regardless of how many photos I select, Photoshop will only open somewhere between 1 and 4 of them. It seems to do better with shift+click to select rather than cmd+click, but in no case will it open more than 4 photos. Much of the time it will only open 2 photos, even if I have selected 7 or 8.
Is there a way to open an arbitrary number of photos in an external editor?
I'm using iPhoto 7.1.5 on OS 10.5.8. The external editor is Photoshop CS3.

No there isn't. You can't send more than four at a time I'm afraid.

  • Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos??

Why can I no longer add photos my iPhoto book? Is there a limit to the number of photos? Must I delete unused photos?

This is book # 13 and I've not encountered this problem before. I am dragging photos into the sourse pane but they are not imported. I have other books w/ over 700  pics (not all used) but this has only 300+ so far. I've copied the book to a pdf and it looks as if I'll have to redo it unless there's another solution.

  • Limit on the number of photos?

Is there a limit on the number of photos the ATV2 can show from our iPhoto library? I have over 32,000 photos in my library and when I try to see them, only 19,998 show up. I'm missing my last 4 years of photos (19,998 doesn't seem like a coincidence to me).
I can see all albums and events (when I'm using those menus) but they are not in reverse chronological order so the most recent albums and events are at the end of the looooong list (I have more than 750 events in my iPhoto library). This is not practical at all.
And of course, it's taking a looooong time just for the events and albums to show up on the screen. My network is all Apple 802.11n stuff so it should not be the bottleneck. Any ideas?

The limit is based on the 8GB internal storage on the ATV2. I confirmed this with Express Lane support today. ATV2 will try to load your entire library but will stop when it gets to the limit and does not provide any messages stating that the limit has been reached. This means that you will get roughly the first 20,000 of your library, starting with the most recent.
The work around is to select which albums or folders from iPhoto that are to be synced, much like you would do for an iPod or iPhone that can't fit your whole music or photo library. This selection process is done in iPhoto's Sharing preferences where you select Share my photos and choose the second option to Share selected albums. Note that the list will contain iPhoto folders as well as albums.
Once you reach the 8GB limit, you may also have a problem playing the video files in your iPhoto library that appear to have been synced, as the full videos are not loaded until they are selected for playing. Once that is tried, ATV2 will likely crash as the 8GB limit is exceeded. No harm is done to your library that is safe.
This whole process is not well supervised by the ATV2 system as it keeps the user in the dark.

  • Limit to number of photos per Import? Import not completing - is stuck.

    Hi all -
Been using iPhoto more and more on my iMac, and decided last night to import all my photos from an external harddrive.
This was about 40,000 photos. Everything seemed to be going along just fine, till it got stuck with 8,736 photos remaining to import. Left it there all night and this morning nothing has changed.
The harddrive is still attached and spinning. I can review photos directly from the drive in Finder.
I don't know if there is a specific photo/file it didn't like and that messed things up, or if there is some known limit to the number of photos that can/should be imported at a single time??
    Any thoughts?
    Running iPhoto '11 (version 9.1.1)
    Thanks!

I've never seen report of a limit for a single import, but asking it to gobble up 40k images at one go is a bit of an ask
Most likely, it's a damaged jpeg that it's hung on trying to import. But it could also be just maxing out on the resources needed to processing that volume of data at one go.

  • Why is it no longer possible, since the iPhotos upgrade to 9, to select a number of photos and "hold on to them" when changing to a different left-margin "view"?

There has been a downgrade since iPhotos was… upgraded.
Before iPhotos was upgraded to 9, It USED to be that
IF you chose a photo or a number of photos WITHIN an event
(ensuring that they were engulfed in yellow or blue),
and THEN went to the left margin and clicked on Photos
in order to view the ENTIRE library's photos
(not just those in that particular event),
the selfsame photos would REMAIN chosen in the LARGER context.
That is no longer the case.
And that was very useful, because
if you wanted to move a batch of photos within one event
to within another event, that was the easiest way to do so
    — whereas now, we have to search for and "find" them all over again.
When I go "back" to Photos, I not only lose the selected images,
say from March 2009, I end up at a totally different place,
say in October 2006, and I have to do lots more "work" finding
the photos again then used to be the case.

    Flag the Photos.
    Switch to Events View
    Select the Target Event
Events menu -> Add Flagged Photos to Selected Event

  • Why is the number of photos in the Photos app different than the number of photos in iPhoto on the Mac?

I have an iPhone 4S and a MacBook Air. On the MacBook Air, in iPhoto, the number of photos is 3,563 (this is the number that appears next to the word Photos under library in the left hand pane). When I synch my phone with iTunes, I've selected Synch Photos from iPhoto and the number that follows that line is 3,546 photos. I have checked All Photos, albums, Events, and Faces.
On my iPhone under Settings, General, About, there are 4,293 Photos shown (the Camera Roll is empty).
I don't understand why these three numbers are not identical. Anyone know?

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? What mode are you in, i.e. Events, Photos?
If it's the Photos mode the number at the bottom will represent the number of photos displayed in that mode or the number of photos selected in that mode. The number will match the number next to the photos mode only when there are no photos in that mode that are selected.
If you click on the Events icon and then back on the photos icon the numbers should match.

  • The number of photos in an event does not match between iPhoto and iTunes

    Hi,
Not sure what's up but the number of photos in one of my events in iPhoto is 19 but on iTunes it shows (and syncs) as only 9.
    Any ideas?

Not that I've heard -- but it looks like 250,000 for iPhoto -- a bunch
    Apple - iLife - iPhoto
iPhoto makes sharing photos faster and simpler than ever before. It also adds great features, including Photocasting, support for up to 250,000 photos, easy publishing to the web, special effects, and new custom cards and calendars.

  • Maximum number of  photos in iPhoto 5

When I had my older G4 and older version of iPhoto (3.0 I think), scrolling and other functions would be extremely slow if my library go too big. So I split my iPhoto library into several smaller ones using iPhoto Library Manager. Now that I have a fast new iMac G5 and the latest version of iPhoto, I would like to merge libraries into one for convenience. With this hardware and OS 10.4.3, is there a suggested maximum number of photos not to exceed in the main iPhoto library for reasons of performance? I am not really a power user, but don't want scrolling and dragging to take forever like they did on the G4...

    Hi rsm,
How many images are you talking about here?
How many images in each Library do you have?
What is the make of your camera?
Steve Jobs told us 20,000, but we have really got mixed results on that number.
Depending on your camera, it can make huge Makernote files that will considerably slow down iPhoto to the point of uselessness.
You can do a search within iPhoto 5 here in the forum for "Makernote" so you will understand the problem.
