"Number of Plays" Incorrect

Hi,
Query about IPod Touch.
Thw number of plays on my iTunes library is being shown incorrectly. For instanct if I play a song on my IPod once, the number of plays for that song will be shonw as 160 or 180 times. Is there a fix for this.

dalmanac - I forgot I had an old iPod Touch in a drawer from before I bought my iPhone. I removed all my music from the phone, and added it to the Touch instead, and now everything's working fine. The Touch can't upgrade past iOS6 which means it ACTUALLY WORKS PROPERLY, and the music app can still play podcasts which is a nice bonus.
It's ridiculous that I've had to revert to a four year old device running a two year old OS to be able to play music properly, but there you are.
I'm due a new phone upgrade very soon, and I was going to replace my 4s with a 5s, but now I'm having serious second thoughts about buying another Apple phone. Moving all my music over to another platform would be a major hassle of course - but major hassle is what I'm getting from my Apple products at the moment. I've always been happy to pay the "Apple premium", and encouraged plenty of others to, on the basis that it all "just works". I'm far from convinced that's still true.

When I sync my ipod to add new material, sometimes itunes will automatically rearrange the song order of my pre-existing albums by number of plays. Why does it do this? And is there a way to stop it?

When I add an album to itunes and subsequently to my ipod, everything is arranged by track number of the album. Sometimes when I sync in order to add new material to my ipod, itunes for some reason automatically rearranges some of my pre-existing material by songs with the greatest number of plays to least (though sometimes it seems to be completely random). When I check itunes on my computer, everything still appears to be in order but the way it appears on the device often is in the previously mentioned disorder. Why does it do this? Is there any setting that I can adjust to make it stop because the only way I've found so far is to delete the rearranged material and re-import the cd and then re-sync. It might sound picky, but I prefer that my music be in order by track number as the artists themselves intended for various reasons the foremost being that I often listen to whole albums from start to finish and this glitch makes such problematic. I have found some settings in preferences that focus on how material is arranged but this seemed to be focused on the actual folders where the music is located on my hard drive and not the way it appears on the ipod. If anyone knows the reason it does this or has suggestions on fixing it, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Did the original songs that do not appear on the car player play in the Music app on the iPod? Sometimes glitches happen and they do not. Also, If y ohave a 5G iPod/iOS 7, purchase songs will show with an cloud icon by them if they are not downloaded if Shall All is turned on in Settings>iTunes and App Store

I am trying to migrate my whole iTunes experience (music files, number of plays, Genius, playlists) from a windows pc to an iMac.

I have copied everything from my external hard drive (which is where I told iTunes my library was) to my iMac. I am now viewing all my content BUT all the user experience is not there (playlists, number of plays, etc). Can you help? I also noticed that under my normal Windows Music folder (on my pc hard drive) there are some iTunes folders (see image below)
I followed the apple help to create my new location for iTunes but all the user experience is not visible. Futhermore, the content (music) was only visible after I added it to the library.

How do I set the number of Plays?

I need to change the number of plays of some mp3 files in itunes. How do I change files that were played, but not counted as plays to played?
I have audio lectures, in order in a playlist that I don't want to hear again. My playlist is set only to list unplayed (plays <1) audio files. Sometimes the ipod I use to listen to the files locks up and does count the completed files as played (Plays = 1). How can I set the Plays from 0 to 1?

Start the file playing in iTunes then click on the right end of the play progress bar. Playback will end. The play count will increment and the next track will begin to play.

I cannot sort my songs using the "plays" column (also known as the number of plays column). The number of "plays" is not increasing as a song finishes.

My number of 'Plays' was not increasing anymore at some point after updating to Version 11. I had iTunes rev 11.0.1.12. Today I updated to the latest rev 11.0.2.26, and now the numer of plays is increasing, so they must have fixed the bug!

We are on PI 7.4 AEX SP 7. We are trying to get the following scenario working: Inhouse warehouse management system (JMS) --> PI --> ECC (IDoc)
Sender is configured as 3rd party technical system system with business system maintained in SLD
business system has logical system assigned in SLD
adapter specific identifiers show logical system in ID / NWDS
logical system is defined in receiver (ECC system)
partner profile is created in ecc for this very logical system (inbound parameters)
No mapping of EDI_DC40 node in ESB (complete node disabled)
no header mapping in ID / NWDS
receiver IDoc AEE adapter is configured to not enforce control record (Control Record in IDoc XML = Not Mandatory)
no Identifiers specified in receiver IDoc AEE adapter
My guts feeling is that this should work, however, it doesnt't. Failing with "The Configuration for Sender/Receiver Partner Number/Port is incorrect. Enter proper values in Sender/Receiver Component"
Any thoughts are highly welcome.

Hi,
The error mentioned by you is not related to the port..but its related to the Application ...
IDoc 51 means idoc has been received in R/3 client and when it tries to process it ended in error..
Check with the functional consultant for the error you have received..

The songs in my iTunes have an extremely large number of plays. The number of plays is nowhere close to being accurate. I want to reset to the accurate count. I do not want to start at zero. Can someone solve this problem?

Do you have the accurate count? If you don't and iTunes doesn't then nobody does. Here's a script that will set it to your heart's desired playcount, but what number it uses is up to you.

Number of plays

I'm wondering if anyone else is having the problem of iTunes 11.1 not showing the number of plays of a song. With the previous version of iTunes - when I plugged my phone into my computer it would automatically launch the program and I could see what songs I listened to. Now I have to launch iTunes manually from my desktop and I can't see the number of plays/last played of songs on my phone. It's going to be a pain to have to manually delete each song listened to after moving onto the next one. Either that or keep a list and remove later.
Right now my iTunes colums are set up to show plays and last played. The only way I can see a number and/or date is to listen to music that's on my phone while plugged into my computer.

Solved - I just had to uncheck the "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" box.

In the current version of iTunes, it no longer seems to update the number of plays for a song or the last played date. (Actually, it does update the date intermittently, but for the most part that feature is no lomger working.) Anyone know how to fix either of these problems?

Do you have crossfade turned on? Several people have reported that it breaks play count updating.

Yup, this.
Judging from the number of tracks that iTunes 11 tells me it's played, versus last.fm's scrobbles over the last two days, iTunes is actually updating the play date/time and count about twenty percent of the time. I haven't been systematic about testing under what conditions it does and doesn't update, but:
Some tracks from an album will be updated and not others.
Once a track has failed to update once, it seems likely to fail again (some tracks have had five or six plays unrecorded by iTunes).
Curiously, if you look at the play history in the Next Up drop menu, all the played tracks appear, updated or not.
My fabulously intricate architecture of smart-playlisted-out-the-wazoo filters all goes awry, if the play data isn't properly updated.
