Number of Prints Bug

Using CS5 to process and print photos at a live event I noticed that even though you can specify a number of prints in the print dialog it only ever prints one copy. I tried this several times using both an action that printed and opening a file from Bridge and printing. When I finally gave up and opened a file and just hit Ctrl-P twice to print two copies (leaving the print number at 3 since it was ignoring it anyway) I got six copies! Not only broken but unpredictable. At least CS5 doesn't crash when printing from an action or print negatives like CS4 did but this bug is going to be seriously painful as customers requesting multiple copies of a print occurs about 50% of the time at my events and as I run a complete processing macro, making additional copies means re-opening the file from bridge and printing. Sometimes group shots require 12 or more copies!

As mentioned in the other topics about this same issue: this is a problem with the Windows interface between the new Vista/Win7 printing APIs, and older drivers designed for the older printing APIs.
We are investigating the problem, but don't have an ETA on a fix because we need to work with Microsoft to figure out the whole problem.

I am executing reprint check through transaction fch7, In that Invoice number and document number not printed in payment advice. I have created zscript for that and also assinged regup-belnr and regup-xblnr and used standard program RFFOUS_C.
other fields from regup table are displayed but above two mentioned fields are not displayed.
I even tried debugging standard RFFOUS_C prog, in that regup-belnr and regup-xblnr are coming but it is not printed on form.

Debug you Zscript and check the invoice no and document no. Have assigned that script in FBZP..? check the which form is calling FCH7 in debugger mode..?

Check number - not printed / issued (not updated in PAYR Table)

Automatic payment program has run successfully, Clearing Document is generated for the particular vendor . Cheque is not issued to the particular vendor.
however for other vendors the cheque number is printed.
FCHN cheque Register shows cheque is not issued to that particular payment document/ Vendor. For Previous APP runs cheque has got printed for the same vendor and for the next runs also cheques getting printed .
Kindly provide your inputs

There could be a possibility that only for that particular document for that vendor the payment method is changed at the line item level from check to other method of payment.

MN05: setting the number of printer copies for the whole range of vendors

Hi all,
by t.code MN05 I can set the number of copies of the MM documents printed the FIRST TIME. I can do it for doc.type or vendor.
I can't set the number of printer copies for the whole range of vendors. Should I do it for each one of them?

setting for document type, it doesn't work for all range of vendors.
Setting for document type, in the field "PartF" I've put in "OA". Could it depend on it?
you do for document type and then it will cover all range of vendors.
If you want prints for a specific vendor then set condition recrod for that vendor only.

New number of posts bug(?) + question; no #100, and total # of posts vary

New number of posts bug(?) + question; no number 100, and total number of posts vary
Intrigued by Tuttle's new attempt to join Niel's old habit to keep his own total number of posts count, I went and start counting my posts since the New Discussions. Because I saved my latest Old Discussions Post-and-Points info, I can see what are the previously-still-online ones (the pre- 14-Nov-2005 01:31 GMT ones), and I know exactly what was my "real" total number of posts before 14-Nov-2005 (2446).
My New Discussions posts number however, is quite uncertain.
Firstly, when I use the "My Posts" link on the right, then clicking on and on on the "Next" link,
my "Viewing 91-100 of 586 -- Pages" shows 91-99 instead of 91-100
(= should show 10 posts, shows 9 posts)
then I go on clicking Next Next Next, and I see the same missing counts happen elsewhere:
my posts number 100, 259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580 are missing too.
Note that I wouldn't bother doing all this, and I would have thought it's just very old posts that are automatically deleted like in the Old Discussions,
BUT,
the problem is that when I choose to see all my posts together on the same page
(by using the start=0&range=600 suffix in the URL)
I get a total number of posts that is different (570).
A third way to quickly see all posts without having to load too big page
(using the start=0&range=300 suffix in the URL then only one "Next" click)
shows yet another, different again, number of total posts (573).
And my "official" total number of posts is (586).

- If this can be used as a bug report to fix a counting problem, glad to help.
- If there is no bug, I have two(+) questions then:
1) Was my post number 100 deleted?
(should be around 27-Nov-2005 18:00 GMT)
Also:
I thought the Total Posts number that we see in "My Public Profile" or under the avatar in each post (586), was only the number of posts still online.
- if it is the case, then there are no automatically deleted old posts anymore?
- if old posts are automatically deleted like before, this number should vary?
- if it doesn't vary (it just grows by one per new post), AND at the same time old posts are actually automatically deleted,
it has to show the "real" total number of posts then,
(as it is now, a total starting from the Old-Discussions-still-online-posts, it makes no sense),
that is,
the total posts in the New Discussions PLUS the total posts since first registration in the Old Discussions.
So,
2) What does it show exactly?

Yes, that makes sense and that's what I'm trying to figure in my OP, but then,
after I posted my "#221/2667 post" (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT), my originally missing #
259, 260, 370, 390, 520, 558, 559, 560, 578, 579, and 580
should have become
260, 261, 371, 391, 521, 559, 560, 561, 579, 580, and 581
right? (forget the #100: this one we know for sure it's a bug)
Or if the software counts them from the first (now that would have been a good start) instead of starting from the most recent,
they should become
258, 259, 369, 389, 519, 557, 558, 559, 577, 578, and 579
Well, that's not what happened. Now the missing # are
259, 260, 370, 390, 400, 520, 559, 560, 570, 579, and 580
(in addition to the same #100) (#558 and 578 not missing anymore).
As you can see, there is no logic:
It doesn't work as a simple numerotation of StillOnlinePosts, no matter the order
(otherwise there would simply be a straight count from 1 to 575 (=587-12).
It looks indeed like it shows which old posts are being automatically deleted. That the numbers are quite the same would simply show that the old posts dates were so close, of course they are deleted (six months later) almost at the same time,
BUT,
if it was the case, there would never be LESS deleted posts between two StillOnlinePosts, like it happens for example between my StillOnlinePosts #557 and #561.
Please note: of course I stick to the same method to make all my counts. Not manually modifying the URL, just using the default Next-Next-Next- clicking...
Modifying URL would add yet more differences in the differences!..

Too bad it doesn't help looking yourself at my "My Posts", as everything changes each time I'm adding a reply somewhere.
Perhaps a good way to troubleshoot this would be to start from a very simple basis:
--> "name" the posts with a number, starting from the oldest.
This way, for example my "#1" post (11-Dec-2005 21:51 GMT in this thread) would be named "221" in the New Discussions, or "2667" if you start from my Registration date.
At the moment, it is very difficult to figure what fault comes from the "#100 post bug" and what fault comes from another possible counting bug...
Then the New Discussions "fluctuating" refreshing delay too, possibly messes the counts...

CS5 - number of prints

lets assume I go to file menu and click print, I type 20 as the number of prints and click print
then lets assume after the print completes, I need one more copy
so I go to file, print, and type 1 instead of 20 and click print
the result, 20 copies are printed again
how can I make the number of prints typed stick? is there a trick?
printer used is Fuji Xerox Docuprint C2200 Color Laser
no such issue printing from Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc

If I can work around the problem by pressing certain buttons, it seems you should be able to work around the problem behind the scenes by making certain function calls.
It's a given that there are extra steps in the configuration process, almost as though the data is being "staged" by a middleman. So, as a workaround, why can't you transmit the copy count twice behind the scenes. Even if Microsoft or the driver makers ever correct the issue, what will be the harm?
No matter what the root cause, people perceive it's Photoshop that's responsible for the failure.

No. Printing is either permitted or not, but there is no way any document can control the print quantity.

Suggested number of print pages

Is there a limit on the number of print pages RH9 can publish? I know it's gone up from 100, but I thought I read 700-800 pages. I can't seem to get past about 350 pages.

There is no specific limit that I am aware of. It's more about the content and your machine. Lots of images might not help.
Generate to your local drive if you are not already doing that.
350 should be OK and sometimes one topic can cause issues. Is it stalling at the same point? Have you tried using two layouts each with one half? At worst you may have to have two layouts and then combine them back in Word but trying that might identify a rogue topic if one layout still gives grief.

Canon PIXMA MP980 networked Error Number : 311 Printer is in use

I have a mixed network at home with PC and Mac. It is wired and wireless. I have installed the Canon MP980 as USB to the iMac to set it up then went thru the wired network setup. I was able to print with USB attached. I am unable to print to it as a wired printer. I get Error Number : 311 Printer is in use or an error has occurred.
I am able to connect from the iMac via safari to its internal software over the wired network. Also, believe it or not I am able to print to it and scan from it, to an HP vista machine (the machine and OS that made me a Mac convert last year) It worked without a hitch.
It doesn't matter how the printer is set up in print settings, I still get this error. I am unable to find any gutenprint support for this model number.
Any ideas?

I am a bit concerned about the URI. I didn't think the machine supported HP Jetdirect-Socket, even when using the 'CUPS' driver. You could confirm this on this Vista box, by opening the printer queue and selecting Configure Port. If it shows the queue as Port 9100 then that would indicate that the printer does support HP Jetdirect-Socket, which is it's name on OS X. From memory, on Windows you select something like BJ Network Printer.
Anyway, you may want to try installing the non-CUPS driver and then selecting More Printers > Canon IJ Network. The printer should display with it's MAC address, which you should leave at this stage, and when you select it the driver should be automatically found.
I also believe you could use the same method with only the CUPS driver installed, however I would need to confirm this on my MP970 at work tomorrow.

ATTN APPLE: Serious Aperture Printing Bug for You to know about

I am just starting a new post for Apple to read if they do.
Aperture has a serious printing bug (or 10.4.9 does) whereby my HP 8750 Photosmart ICC Paper profiles are corrupted in some way. Not only do my prints look horrible as in there are just plain wrong color filters in place, but the on screen proofing looks just as bad. The same file and printing setup (and ICC profiles) print beautifully from PS or other apps, so it is definitely an Aperture problem. The Generic CKMY looks ok and if I have the printer do the color management (which shafts me for on screen proofing) it looks good too.

This is a serious bug that has been proven by more than just one user.
Please fix it!

FWIW, I have this problem too, but with an Epson 1800. I could print fine with the demo Aperture, but when I purchased it and entered my serial # I lost the ability to print. I can't change any of the preferences in the pulldowns in the print window. If I do change them they don't stick, even 'till the next time I pull them down. To print I have to have Aperture find the file in Finder, then I open it in ACR and PS and print from there (that works fine).

I have a client who is trying to print a Purchase Order and when they go to Print or do a Print Preview the Sales Order number changes from 2259 to 2264. The customer is using SAP Business 1 2005A SP01 Pl43. If anyone has heard of this or can help us out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That sounds strange .May be it is a bug .lets find out some of the issue before you log to sap support or patch upgrade .
1 Are you using formatted search . check the setup - if it is automatically refresh when field altered or changes,
--If that's the case , change it into display saved user -defined values .

Won't remember number of prints

Photoshop CS5
Win 7 x64
Epson R1900
All latest updates-PS, printer and OS
Select print--quanty 3 for example in the PS print dialog box.
When the print preview comes up, status bar shows it's only going to print 1 copy which is what was printed last time.
Cancel box, go thru the PS print dialog again and this time it takes.
Next print.
Same thing but this time for example I select 5 copies.
Print preview comes up--it's going to print 3 copies.
What it's doing is remembering the LAST quantity, not the current quantity it sent to the printer.
This works fine in Elements 9, so I assume it's a bug in Photoshop CS5.
Any solutions? Info?

Noel, as a long time software producer, you certainly know that simple workarounds by hand may not translate well to changing the program to do it. I saw it during testing when we complained about the detailed installation steps just to get a new build to load. After months, the problem was solved, but getting there took one programmer away from other tasks. Loading new builds now became more "convenient" for the testers, albeit it also decreased installation errors somewhat.
It would seem to me that, since a number of printers from the same vendor as well as printers from another vendor share this problem, it would be incumbent on Adobe to fix it. But there arises in my mind, certain cautions about being cavalier in the expectations of a solution based on "common sense" which seems to be driving this thread, and probably driving Chris nuts!
Eventually, we will get to the point in using computers where all you have to do is start with "Computer!"...and go on from there.
I don't expect to see it in my life time!

CS4 printing bug with trifold?

Hello fellow designers,
I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Power PC G5 under Leopard 10.5.8, and using an
Epson Artisan 50 to print. I set up a letter sized, 3-panel brochure using
the feature that allows you to lock "pages" together to make a spread.
Envision three pages, 3.666 inches wide by 8.5 tall, grouped as a letter
sized spread. (Mine actually uses the Page Control plugin to shorten one
panel to allow for proper folding). When I try to print the document, all
that shows up in my print window is the first two panels. What the heck? I
have tried tinkering with it in a number of ways with no success. I wrote
DTP tools and sent them the file, they think it's a bug in InDesign CS4. I
did this in 2009 using CS3 and it worked perfectly, this is the first time
I've tried it in CS4. Does anyone have any clue what's happening here? I'd
be glad to post a couple of screenshots somewhere along with the file, but I
don't know where to post for free with files.

Don't know what I was doing yesterday, swear it wouldn't print correctly with this same file. Still shows only two panels in the print preview window, but the entire spread is printed on my Epson. See Michael's explanation below.

Make sure the three pages are grouped together in a single spread. In the Pages panel, uncheck
Allow Document Pages to Shuffle (first option in the section).
Check Print Spreads in the first dialog box.
As for the preview, ID only shows two pages in the proxy view.
