Number of rings setting?

I recently installed iOS4 on my fairly new G3S, 32 GB and so far have not experienced the problems mentioned in a number of the topics here, other than perhaps a shorter time between battery charges. My question is pretty simple, but I can't find anything in the User Guide or on-line that deals with it.
What I would like to do is increase the number of rings for an incoming call to give me a few more seconds before the call goes to Voice mail. I've missed some calls because I couldn't get to my phone in time. I thought I would be able to change it in Settings, but could not find anything. Does anyone know if this can be done and, if so, point me to a place where I can learn how to do it. Thanks.

  • How can I set the number of rings before going to voicemail?

Help please..... my phone rings more than 10+ times before rolling to voicemail. How do I set the number of rings I want? I am missing calls as callers will not wait through through so many rings to get to vm if I am unable to pick up the call. Thank you for any help you can give!

You can't. Try contacting your phone carrier as they handle voicemails.

  • 8330 Call Forwarding...How do I set the number of rings before calls are forwarded?

8330 Call Forwarding...How do I set the number of rings before calls are forwarded? Right now it instantly forwards my calls but I don't want that. I want to change it so that let's say that if after 5 rings I don't answer the call is forwarded. I've looked everywhere for an answer but have had no luck. Any help would be appreciated. I am with Virgin Mobile if this makes a difference.
    Thank you

Well, call forwarding is a feature provided by your carrier -- it is not a function of the device. However it works for your carrier is how it works. Actually, from what I understand about call forwarding, it normally is an all-or-nothing circumstance...calls forward to the number you've asked them to be forwarded to, keeping you in a DND status. Regardless, though, if your carrier tells you how it works on their system, there's nothing that the device can do to override that. Unless there is some kind of 3rd party app that would do it, bypassing (somehow) the carrier network CF feature...but I've never heard of such a thing.

  • How to set the number of rings before voice mail answers?

How to set the number of rings before voice mail answers?

    For me its:
    1. Open the phone app and dial *#61# on the Keypad. Press the Call button.
    2. Locate this text on the screen: "Setting Interrogation Succeeded, Voice Call Forwarding, When Unanswered, Forwards to +" and record the 11-digit number after the + symbol.
    3. Touch the Dismiss button. Now enter this code on the Keypad: *61*+ followed by the 11-digit Forwards to number recorded in step 2, followed by *11 and *ringtime#. Ringtime is the number of seconds you want your iPhone to ring before voicemail picks up. Your finished code should look something like this:
    *61*+18555513466*11*30#
In the example above the ring time is set to 30 seconds. Press the Call button.
    4. You should receive the message: Setting Activation Succeeded. Press Dismiss and next time you receive a call it will ring for the new amount of time before going to voicemail.

hi, how to set the number of rings for the agent phone rings?  before it get the not prepared state.
    thanks

The following assumes that you are using ICM with an IPIVR etc (not using CVP), as the answer is different for CVP
What you are looking for is called "Ring no answer time".  It is set in the Agent Desk Setting List tool.

  • How can I set the number of rings before an incoming call goes to voicemail?

How can I set my iPhone4 to ring more than 3 times before going to voicemail. I keep missing calls because I can't get to the phone that fast. I read on an Apple blog that this is controlled by the service provider, namely Verizon. Looked all over your site of FAQs and couldn't find the answer.

x-x, I'm sad to hear that you want to leave VZW because of this. The number of rings is standard at 5-6 rings which is approximately 30 seconds. If yours is only ringing 3 times, it may be the ringtone you have selected. Make sure to also reboot your phone often and dial *228 option 2. If still having issues, try calling yourself from another phone to see how many times it rings on that end.

  • How do you set the number of rings before going to voice mail?

I can't find the option to shorten the number of rings before going to voice mail, any ideas?

It's preset by some phone software but you still may have some sound settings for the answer time. Go to settings and check under call answer settings.

  • Setting number of rings for incoming call

how does one control the number of rings regarding incoming calls before it goes to voice mail.

You can do it manually - it's a bit of a fiddle but it works. You need to specify the length of time in *seconds* that you want your phone to ring, before voicemail kicks in. This article describes how to do it step by step - I've followed it and it works perfectly

  • How to change number of rings or time before it goes to voice mail on iphone 3g

  • How do you limit the number of rings before your answerphone kicks in?

People calling me have sometimes complained that if I am not available to take the call, they have to wait for many rings - and hence a long time - before the messaging system kicks in. And sometimes, callers give up, assuming I don't have voicemail. I know you can limit the number of rings on other phones, but I haven't founf out how to do it with my iPhone. I'm sure it's easy though!!

Your carrier sets this by time, not the number of "rings" since different ring tones take different times/ring.  The typical setting is 30 seconds, sometimes up to 40 seconds.  Contact your carrier to shorten it.

You can't; it's set by Verizon at 30 seconds.

  • Change number of rings to voicemail

I want to change the number of rings or seconds til my phone goes to voicemail.  I don't have enough time to get to my phone before it's goes to voicemail.  I have called Verizon and they say they can't change it, I have to do it through the phone.

This is not an iPhone setting its  a setting on the carrier. There are codes you can dial on your phone to change the setting yourself, but they differ by carrier and they should have told you this
    For Verizon I believe you:
Turn your phone on and press  58#
If you hear a dial tone that beeps three times, enter the number 8 for 8 rings, 6 for 6 rings, etc.
If you hear a regular dial tone, it wants a code...enter the number 46 for 8 rings...Sorry, not too sure of the codes for 6 or 4 rings.
Hope this helps - otherwise call Verizon and they remind them how their service works

  • With a Sprint iPhone, how can I shorten the number of rings before going to voicmail?

Using a Sprint iPhone, how can I shorten the number of rings before going to voicemail?

23 rings? Really. My friends iPhone rings 4 times then goes to voice mail.
I know on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile the number of rings is set through the carrier. Have you called Sprint?
Here is the manual, which is also bookmarked in Safari on your iPhone and can be added for free to your iBooks app through the iBookstore: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
